Rainbow Trout (Catch and Cook) OutFishing13 2025-05-26 | A quick trip to Deer Creek Reservoir to catch some trout for a meal. Dry Trout Batter Recipe:1/2 cup cornmeal2 tsp salt1 tsp garlic powder1/2 tsp pepper1 tsp Cajun SeasoningPrepare trout by filleting and leave skin on. Cut in pieces about 3 inches long.Mix dry batter ingredients. Dredge trout fillets in dry batter and set on a plate for a few minutes to allow batter to moisten. Cook in oil at 350 degrees. Hush Puppies:2/3 cup corn meal2/3 cup all purpose flour1/2 tsp salt2 tsp baking powder1/2 tsp baking soda1/2 tsp black pepper1 tsp Mesquite seasoning1 egg1/4 cup finely chopped white onion1 cup buttermilk1/4 cup melted butterMix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add egg, onion, melted butter and buttermilk. Mix thoroughly. Fry in oil or lard at 350 degrees.

How To Pressure Cook Trout with Tasty Spices OutFishing13 2025-04-21 | I learned to bottle fish years ago from my mom and dad. It was a favorite of mine growing up. In Alaska we bottled mainly Salmon: Chinook(King), Coho(Silver), Sockeye(Red) and Pinks. Here in Utah, I started bottling trout and other fish.I use a half-pint small mouth jar (1 cup). Here are some of my favorite recipes so far.Plain:1/4 tsp saltCajun:1/8 tsp Cajun Zesty by Phil Robertson1/8 tsp saltMesquite:1/2 tsp mesquite seasoning(by McCormick or Kirkland Signature)1/4 tsp saltMontreal:1/4 tsp Montreal Steak Seasoning1/8 tsp salt1/2 tsp liquid smokeLemon Pepper:1/4 tsp lemon pepper1/8 tsp saltVent (steam is coming out the vent hole) for 10 minutes. Bottle at 15 psi for 75 minutes for 1/2 pints (90 minutes for pints). Cool till the pressure gauge is at 0 PSI. Remove from canner. Tighter lids as needed. Test tap lids to make sure they seal and have a vacuum.

My brother took us fishing below Skilak Lake on the Kenai River for Red (Sockeye) Salmon. We found a great spot along a shore called Bear Cove that was just vacated by a few parties of fishermen. This is a method of catching salmon for subsistence use in Alaska. Having the correct gear on, particularly a personal flotation device (PDF) or life vest, rain gear and rubber boots is very important. The weather on the Kenai Peninsula in Kenai can change from sunny to rain and drizzle in minutes. A PFD is extremely important for safety as things can happen in the blink of an eye. Big Rainbow Trout at Starvation OutFishing13 2024-05-30 | Jason from FishFearMe Studios and I fished Starvation Reservoir on May 27 and caught some of those famous Starvation Rainbow trout they often call steelhead. Our limit of 8 trout weighed a total of 26 pounds making the average 3.25 pounds each.For Zebco lovers, I caught all my trout on a Zebco Bullet and a 2022 Omega Pro ZO3.
