Four months ago I did a video showing all of my bases... all 11 of them. Things have changed though, not least my base count which is now up to 28. However, rather than bore the arse off everyone by showing all 28, I've instead done a video showing the bases built for the latest addition to NMS... fishing. These 7 bases are located on the 7 specific biospheres that give you the chance to catch all 160 fish available. The bases are:
3:34 The Fishing Hole (Lush Fishing Outpost)
8:35 Irradiated Fishing Outpost
17:05 Toxic Fishing Outpost
22:46 Desolate Fishing Outpost
28:07 Anomalous Fishing Outpost
36:47 Burning Fishing Outpost
44:43 Odyalutai Gateway (Icy Fishing Outpost)

Following a comment made during my recent NMS live stream and a subsequent poll post on my community tab, it seems a fair few NMS players who watch my channel are unaware of the "secret" starship upgrades that come with the various starship figurines and engine trail colours that you can get from the quicksilver merchant on the anomaly.... So allow me to enlighten you, since these are WELL worth getting!

The stream will also feature my #1 NMS tip for players. One that, to me, should be blindingly obvious... but I have seen SO many examples of players not doing it and having a bit of a tough time as a result that I guess I DO need to reveal it and explain why it makes such a difference.
I'll also be treating it as a Q&A stream, so fire any NMS questions my way and I'll answer them in my own, rather predictable, way.

I just had to share this discovery. I stumbled across this system in the Eissentam galaxy which has an A class Royal multitool on offer, but you could say it actually offers 7 of them! Depending on what you do in this system prior to claiming it, the colour scheme and name of the multitool will change. Everything else stays the same, the damage and scanning stats, the class, the slot count and positions, the supercharged slot position, the damaged slot count and positions... even the resources needed to repair said damaged slots. The only things that change are the names and the colour scheme (6 of the 7 have different colour schemes). This video provides you with the portal address, multitool location, how to get the various colours and what the 7 multitools look like.
One thing before you start heading out here, you MUST be in the Eissentam galaxy before using the portal address. If you use it in any other galaxy it will take you to the galactic co-ordinates within that galaxy, but only in Eissentam (Galaxy 10) will it bring you here. There's already been one person trying to get here from Euclid... needless to say it didn't take him where he was hoping it would.

A requested vid where I give a guided tour of my bases in No Man's Sky... yes all 11 of them! Thankfully 9 of them are small and everything can be seen in no time at all. The main bases, namely Dunroamin and the Freighter base take a bit longer to take you round. This does at least show you that most bases I've built have been done to provide other players with the means to progress within the game, so they serve practical purposes.
If there are specific bases you want to see, the timestamps are as follows:
1:43 The Beach Hut
3:28 The Garage
6:28 Sulphurine Gas Mine 1 C
9:31 Nitrogen Gas Mine 1 B
12:18 Gold Mine 1 B
14:11 Cobalt Mine 1 B
16:12 Salt Mine 1 B
20:39 Silver Mine 1 B
23:32 Radon Mine 1 A
26:41 Dunroamin
41:49 Freighter Base

One of the most popular features to be added to No Man's Sky so far this year is the Starship Fabricator... and this feature allows me to give away the parts required to build your own S-class Explorer, Fighter, or Hauler.
What's being offered? Well you get the choice of the following:
Option A) S-class reactor, explorer fuselage, explorer wings (pair)
Option B) S-class reactor, fighter fuselage, fighter wings, fighter thrusters
Option C) S-class reactor, hauler cockpit, hauler wings, hauler thrusters.
To win, simply comment on this vid with your NMS name (so I know who to give the items to when in game) and your answer to this question.... What is your number 1 tip to any NMS player? It can be for any player, newcomer or long-time regular, but what is THE top tip you would give them?
Over to you...
UPDATE 09/05/24 - The three winners will also receive a mystery bonus alongside the reactor and their choice of ship parts. Another reason to take part.

Another day, another Portal address in No Man's Sky. This portal takes you to a system with an S class Sentinel multitool and the welcome bonus of a derelict freighter which gives S class freighter upgrades. The catch, sort of, is that it's an Outlaw system... but still well worth visiting.

An annoying bug has surfaced following the latest update, with the phase beam weapon damaging your own ship when you fire it. I quickly test my 5 ships to see if my game is affected. Turns out some ships are fine, while others are... not.

My first No Man's Sky video in over 4.5 years reveals the location of an easy derelict freighter with a total of only 10 zones (including 3 dead-end single rooms), very few threats that consist of mere automated defences, reasonable amounts of salvage to be claimed and an S Class freighter upgrade from the engineering console. This is somewhere worth visiting, so the portal address is provided.

For this stream I shall be doing 2 career scenarios. One in a Class 37 diesel loco doing a Settle - Carlisle scenario. The other in a Class 483 former London Underground loco on the Isle of Wight. No idea which order I'll be doing these in.
We'll finish with an attempt at driving the Class 86 electric loco, probably on the WCML over Shap route. This (along with the Class 87) is IMO the most difficult electric or diesel loco to drive because it has such an awkward throttle control... but might appeal to those who want additional challenge.
NOTE: As always, I only have one monitor... but unlike all previous streams, this time the game is rather unstable. If I minimise the game to view the chat and reply to messages or questions, the game continues just fine... but when I maximise it again, it's a CTD every time. So for this stream I'll have Jim with me yet again, acting as messenger to pass on any such comments and/or questions.
Part 6 and we start in the Goblin camp with 2 of the leaders still alive. One of which is Minthara and I'm 99% convinced the method of recruiting her without the Emerald grove being raided is a glitch. I'll give it a half-hearted attempt but I don't expect it to work and couldn't give a fuck if it doesn't. By the time we find out, things will have moved on to the point where there's no way I'll go back and try again. With the Goblin camp cleared of every living thing (and hopefully with Halsin rescued) we can then go on to the abandoned monastery which is now home to a Githyanki creche... and their claim to have a cure.
Part 5 and we begin in the Goblin Camp... which is soon to become a bloodbath. Surrounded by Goblins, Bugbears, Ogres, Hobgoblins and even a certain Drow, the odds of any of them getting out alive are rather slim, even if my intention is to recruit the Drow.... not to mention recue a certain Druid who is lurking around and an Owlbear who has found his way here.
After the Goblin camp carnage there is the small matter of locating the entrance to the Underdark and attending to a certain fire that a Goblin raiding party started.
Part 4 and we begin in the Emerald Grove once again, having dispatched Auntie Ethel (sort of). Within the grove itself we can look for Lom and/or confront Kagha and her Shadow Druid friends... or we can go on from here towards the Goblin Camp, where the three Goblin rulers await... including Minthara herself!
There is also the not-so-small matter of the Spider Matriarch, who not only has a significant amount of XP on offer for her slaughter, but unknowingly guards the dark amethyst I need to open the Necromancy of Thay that I have in my possession... and not forgetting the caravan which is under attack from a Gnoll raiding party which offers many rewards, some more legal than others...

Part 3 has us starting from the Blighted Village, where we finished previously. My intention is to gain levels and improve spell casting abilities to all characters concerned, so level 5 is the target. To do this we will clear out the Blighted Village of all remaining Goblins, at least partially repair Karlach's infernal engine... and pay a visit to Auntie Ethel in her tea shop.
Part 2 sees us starting from the Emerald Grove, where we finished previously. My intention is to recruit at least 2 more travelling companions, one significantly more useful than the other, and completing enough side quests to get to level 5. We may even reach the Goblin Camp... which is actually a lot more difficult than it sounds.
After this, we're returning to a Thargoid Spire site where I will attempt to show just how much you can get from these locations... including attempting to take some new items that I've never been able to get hold of before.
The first half of the stream (AX restoration missions) was done in a team with CMDR Jimbo76, who was also streaming it from his POV... youtube.com/watch?v=k3tcWMK40h0

The stream will end with everything being listed for sale from the carrier, with inara then being updated. The race is then on for anyone wanting to buy up whatever I've collected. I've already made a start to this over the past few days prior to this stream... and I can guarantee you there is a LOT of good stuff ready to be sold alongside anything I collect during the stream.
Salvage collection will be done via Revenant missions and possibly a bit of Orthrus hunting and/or Titan tissue sample collecting. I'll let the viewers decide what will be happening.
If there's time (and demand) afterwards I'll... do something else that I've not yet decided on. Maybe some suggestions can be sent my way...

The current CG event is geared towards producing the Pulse Wave Xeno Scanner and making it available for commanders, however thanks to that oh-so-rare of events, FD fucking up, some players were able to buy Pulse Wave Xeno Scanners on the day the CG started.... and I was one player who bought one (actually bought three but that's beside the point)... So let's see what these things do and what awaits those looking to unlock the item from the CG...

First we return to Maelstrom Taranis and grab some of the new materials on offer... those that I'm not already maxed on anyway. It's highly likely we'll encounter another Glaive Hunter while we're doing that.

After uploading my vid showing how enjoyable it is (or isn't) to hunt Orthrus's, I received a couple of private messages asking how I got the caustic sink launcher. I wasn't going to bother, since I'm no fan of video guides that give away how to complete some of the challenge and are simply copied parrot fashion by players who can't be bothered to learn or discover things about the game for themselves... Then I had an idea... and so I present my guide to unlocking the caustic sink launcher... sort of.

Frontier developments recently told us that we were doing the Thargoid war all wrong, and even kindly told us the right way to do it... so off I go to do it the "right" way and show that this "right" way isn't even remotely as exciting, interesting, challenging or rewarding as the "wrong" way...

While there is considerable variation in the music selected by Chris, mine is pretty much dominated by one composer and one game series. Also while our choices are not in any particular order, I did save my all-time fave for my final choice.
Originally intended to be published the week of xmas 2022, my intense loathing of video editing meant it was a tad late...
As with the previous 4 parts, the only constraint is the song must be metal, but can be from any of the millions of sub-genres within. While this was the only constraint, we did both decide (independently) to limit our choices to one song per band... almost. All songs played in their entirety, with no limit to song duration. This bonus feature was recorded on 15th May 2022, a week or two after parts 1-4 had been done.
Highlights for this vid? Well, some of Chris's choices vary from being extremely left field to being utter shite, while I finally choose a selection that he liked from start to finish... even the black metal! However, it then comes crashing down when it comes to my 11th song, which I did NOT choose because I think it's good, although in my defence it is something Chris said he was interested to hear back in part 1.
Since this my first stream since update 13 went live, we'll also look back on events covered in this update and then go through what we hope will be in update 14, but unlike other channels, not then insist that this is completely accurate in every way.
Highlights for this vid? One of my choices leaves Chris almost lost for words, Chris breaks a rule for the vid (albeit an unwritten one) and following on from my magnificent impression of John Tardy in part 3, this time we get a magnificent impression of Mike Muir.
Vid ends with a complete recap of all songs selected in parts 1-4, thus bringing this series to an end....... or does it??
Highlights for this vid? Well this one really does cover just about every metal genre going, one of my choices is by a band I can't stand (as had been promised/threatened in Part 1), Chris chooses a death metal song (amazing enough!) by one of my favourite death metal bands... and I don't recognise them. Death metal fans can rejoice as I choose song from the greatest death metal album ever recorded and one from the second-heaviest album ever recorded... and we are both guilty of choosing a song that the other had never heard before and dearly wished they hadn't now!
Highlights for this vid? Well there's my rant on women singers who feel the need to look like whores to sell records.... We have the first two songs I've chosen that Chris is not exactly a fan of (amazed it took this long for that to happen!)... and thanks to YouTube blocking this video if the original song had been used, we have a truly unique rendition of one of our choices... and i'll state here that it was Chris's idea, not mine...
