The Ford Probe was a coupe-hatchback vehicle based on a vehicle platform from Mazda. The GL base model Probe came with a 2.2 Liter, 110 Horsepower, 4 cylinder SOHC engine that produced 130 LB-FT of torque (This Engine like the Turbo, was from Mazda.) The midline LX trim of the Probe came with a 140 Horsepower, V6 engine at 160 LB-FT of torque, the V6 engine from Ford being known as the "Vulcan."
The top of the line Probe GT was powered by a turbocharged 2.2 Liter 145 Horsepower, SOHC 4-cylinder engine that produced 190 LB-FT of torque. The first generation of the Probe appeared in 1989 and lasted until 1992 .
