Hello and welcome to another car commercial of the past! Here in this commercial, we have a 1985 commercial of a Ford F-150 showing how Ford tough it is, by carrying a Chevrolet pickup in it's bed, and towing a Dodge Pickup up a hill, with ease! Talk about demonstration.
The base engine for the 1985 Ford F-150 was a 4.9 Liter, Inline 6 cylinder engine that produced 115 Horsepower, at 3,000 RPM, with torque at 223 LB-FT at 1,600 RPM. Gas mileage for the 4.9 Liter were modest at 17 MPG City, 22 MPG Highway with a 4 speed manual transmission. Fuel economy dropped to around 14 MPG City and 15 MPG Highway when equipped with the most popular 3 speed automatic transmission among consumers. Optional engines were much powerful, 8 cylinder engines such 5.0 Liter Windsor and 5.8 Liter Windsor.
There were 3 transmissions available for the 1985 Ford F-150; a 4 speed manual, a 3 speed automatic, and a 4 speed automatic. The 4 speed manual being the base transmission for a Ford F-150.
There were 3 trim levels available with 2 body styles, and 2 drive-trains for 1985. The entry class standard Base trim, the XL work trim, and the mid range XLT trim. A two door standard cab was the base body style for the F-150 and could seat 3 on a bench seat, and the extended cab could fit 3 in the front bench seat and 3 uncomfortably in the back jump seats. Drive-trains included a standard Rear Wheel Drive Layout and Four Wheel Drive as an option.
The base 2 door, standard cab in Rear Wheel Drive with the Inline 6 cylinder had a MSRP of $8,397, the work oriented XL trim extended cab in Rear Wheel Drive with a Inline 6 cylinder had a MSRP of $10,554 and the Mid Range XLT extended cab with the Inline 6 cylinder in Rear Wheel Drive had a MSRP of $10,229.
The F-150 in 1985 was truly a tough truck, that could handle any task that was handed at it, and with a low base price of $8,397 for the most basic model of the 1985 F-150, you could have a taste of what the F-150 had to offer.
