Doug Stanton and Lynn Novick talked about the Vietnam War in 1968 as part of C-SPAN's "1968: America in Turmoil" series. The war was fought not only in the jungles of Vietnam but on American streets in 1968. Student marches and acts of civil disobedience dominated headlines, including the story of brothers and fellow priests, Daniel and Philip Berrigan, who seized and burned hundreds of draft cards along with fellow pacifists and became known as the "Catonsville Nine." Vietnam War veterans returned to a changed country. The program began with a three-minute "CBS Reports" clip from 1969 on opposition to the war. Mr. Stanton is the author of The Odyssey of Echo Company: The 1968 Tet Offensive and the Epic Battle to Survive the Vietnam War, and filmmaker Lynn Novick's most recent project was with Ken Burns on the 10-part documentary, The Vietnam War.
