Welcome to our community slow stitching project for 2026 that is running as a beginner friendly stitch along. In this video I will show you how you can create a dimensional poppy flower using thread, needle and a paper straw. Wonderful to add to your slow stitching and great to make brooches or gift cards.
Everyone is welcome to participate and this project is beginner friendly for those new to slow stitch. We’ll be stitching a hexagon work mat for your studio or craft room desk featuring vintage embroideries, slow stitch designs and fabrics. I’ll be sharing vintage embroidery transfer designs from my collection and lots of inspiration to include in your own work mat. I’ll also be sharing other ideas using hexies.
You can join at any stage during the year and work at your own pace. This beginner friendly project can be tailored and adapted to the supplies and time you have on hand, and what you want to create with the hexagons. There is no cost to participate.
