Every corner you turn you see something picturesque and totally sketchable. In 2019 I returned to Hoi An and led an art retreat with Anna from @annasartfoodculture . All my playing, experimenting and memories encapsulated in 8 sketchbooks.I have not seen some of the sketchbook since the beginning of the year. So it is nice to see so many nice moments and stories.I like using different size sketchbooks to break away from monotony and routine. My new Frazer Price brass palette Paul Wang 2021-10-04 | Many have been curious about my new frazer price palette from @jacksons_art so here is a little video to explain it.I bought it primarily because it can hold all my essential colours, lots of mixing area and even hold a small water bottle & 2 containers. JacksonsArt reproduced the palette after it went out of production in the 1980s.My only complain is the 2 tiny water pots. They are just too small so I had to find something else that will fit into the palette and hold more water for painting.Surprisingly the palette is not too heavy even though it a brass plated metal palette. Fits nicely into my sketching kit too.I paid £83 with free shipping to Singapore. Swatching Quinacridone Pink by Daniel Smith Paul Wang 2021-02-28 | Adding a new colour to my collection. This is Quinacridone Pink made by @danielsmithartistsmaterials .As an urbansketcher I rarely get to use lots of bright and loud colours so I look forward to using them in my still life/floral paintings. I have been looking for another bright pink to add more punch. This Quin pink definitely has a wide range, moving from a soft blush to a hot pink. Very ‘clean’ colour with no granulation. A more stable colour compared to Rhodonite and Opera Pink.So far from my swatching, I can say this colour works fairly well with other colours from my palette. This swatch was made in my @etchr_lab hot press sketchbook. Need to test it on my cold press paper too. Painting little sauce shop, Chinatown Wet Market Paul Wang 2021-01-07 | Spent a quiet morning finishing this sketch which I started last Saturday at the Chinatown Wet Market. This sketch is about this particular shop that sells all kinds of sauces you can imagine. I was drawn to the infinite number of bottles and tubs of sauces. The lady boss was also very kind to let us sit in front of her shop. The challenge for this scene is to differentiate the different layers and keep them from becoming a big clump. Dark pushing against the light shapes. Now I can step away before I return for a final review.
