Happy New Year everyone! I can't tell you just how much I've been invested in putting together this travel diary / vlog. I realized after the fact that this Japan trip is (I think) the best one we've had since we first started coming.
Last November, we spent two weeks hopping about Japan from city to city. I can't believe we visited ten cities throughout the entire trip! The first few days were spent in Tokyo with my dear friend Guia, who I met when I was doing my 2nd degree in fashion school. We've gotten very close and promised that we'd go visit a DIsney park together someday. Three years after, we've finally made it!
It was our first Autumn trip as a family, thus completing my experience of Japan in its four seasons. It was primarily a break for my sister Denice, who had spent months studying for her Interior Design board exams. Results were to be posted online and we were in Kanazawa the day it was supposed to come out.
The exam was the hardest its ever been, and self-doubt visited my sister often. She would often come to me and my Mom to vent out, and though I know she would pass, I wanted to offer a supportive but realistic viewpoint - just in case.
The moment we found out she ranked third on her boards, it was truly a time of tears. I rarely get to capture such unique moments in life and I'm so glad I was able to that day.
I hope you enjoyed this travel diary of my trip to Japan. I know that people come here primarily for the music that I write and perform, but I recently discovered that I love documenting and watching my life unfold in a different manner. Editing vlogs take up SO much of my time (I'm still learning!) for something only a few people are interested in watching, but it's not really about the views at the end of the day. I see it as kind of a service to myself.
I want to remember my days, and I want my loved ones to see our lives from my unique point of view. Life passes by so quickly, but I think documenting helps us remember, reminisce, and appreciate everything more. It also leaves room for gratitude.
