This week on The Jew and Gentile Podcast, Chris and Steve begin with the unusual story of twins born with dramatically different skin tones—one black and one white—which leads into a fascinating biblical connection: the nation of Israel traces its story back to twins, Jacob and Esau. The guys also share some updates from recent travels to Williams Bay, Wisconsin, and Northwest Bible Chapel in Chicago, including more Stick With Israel sticker giveaways and a funny follow-up about longtime listener George, whose daughter discovered even more candy wrappers in his shower drain. They also preview upcoming FOI Equip classes, including Dr. Peter Goeman’s September series, Is the Church the New Israel?, and Dr. Kobby Barda’s October presentation, An Israeli’s View on Christian Zionism. Chris and Steve then turn to Jesus’ penetrating question in Matthew 16:26: “What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” They explore the timeless idea of trading what is eternal for temporary success, drawing connections to works such as The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Screwtape Letters, and The Pilgrim’s Progress. The conversation also touches on Jesus’ patience with people, Milton Friedman’s famous exchange with Phil Donahue, the strategic value of America’s alliance with Israel, concerns over Israel’s growing “brain drain,” and new developments in Israeli politics. And in keeping with the theme of Jesus’ question about gaining the whole world, the guys close with a Yiddish word connected to “world.”

In this episode of The Jew and Gentile Podcast, Steve joins the conversation from beautiful Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, while Chris hosts from New Jersey. Together, they discuss several significant developments involving Israel and the Middle East, including the U.S. Army’s new “Hammer of the Gods” system designed to disrupt missile attacks, recent Israeli political polling showing Likud in second place, and the ongoing disagreement over plans for an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas. They also preview Dr. Peter Goeman’s upcoming FOI Equip class, Is the Church the New Israel?, scheduled for September 3, 10, and 17. Chris and Steve also reflect on the immeasurable love and greatness of God through the hymn The Love of God and its connection to the ancient Jewish poem Akdamut. Written in Aramaic by Rabbi Meir Ben Isaac Nehorai, the poem declares that even if the oceans were filled with ink and the heavens became a scroll, God’s greatness could never be fully described. The episode also considers several powerful questions Jesus asked throughout the Gospels and concludes with a classic Yiddish Ellis Island story explaining how the phrase “shoyn fargesn”—“I’ve already forgotten”—became the name “Sean Ferguson.”

🕎 Yiddish Word of the Day Shoyn Fargesn— I forget An elderly Yiddish-speaking man arrives at Ellis Island after a long and exhausting journey. Along the way, he has passed through so many processing centers—and been given so many different versions of his name—that by the time an immigration officer asks, “What is your name?” his mind goes completely blank. Flustered, he mutters in Yiddish, “Shoyn fargesn,” meaning, “I’ve already forgotten.” The officer nods, writes it down, and from that day forward, the man is known as Sean Ferguson.

This week on The Jew and Gentile Podcast, Chris gives listeners an update on his health and recovery, and Steve joins him for a wide-ranging conversation about Jewish history, faith, and the enduring connection of the Jewish people to their homeland. They discuss the surprising fate of Theodor Herzl’s former home, which has become a pizzeria, before turning to Tisha B’Av—the saddest day on the Jewish calendar. Chris and Steve explain the tragedies traditionally remembered on the ninth of Av, including the destruction of both Temples in Jerusalem, the defeat of the Bar Kochba revolt, and the expulsions of Jewish communities from England and Spain. They also revisit the famous story of Napoleon recognizing that a people who mourned Jerusalem for nearly 2,000 years would surely one day return. The conversation also explores several powerful questions Jesus asked, including, “Who do you say I am?” and “What can a man give in exchange for his soul?” Chris and Steve consider what these questions reveal about faith, doubt, identity, and the eternal value of the soul. Plus, they discuss wooden beams believed to date to the First Temple period, controversial comments about religious Zionists serving in Israel’s military, developments involving the Lebanese army in southern Lebanon, and President Trump’s comments concerning Benjamin Netanyahu. Listeners will also learn the Yiddish word challish, meaning faint or weak with hunger, and hear how they can receive free pro-Israel stickers, become a free FOI Equipper, and join upcoming classes studying the Bible from a Jewish perspective.

📰 News & Commentary 🗞 Harbingers Daily 🌐 harbingersdaily.comThe Seven Types of Pharisees, Chris Surgery and Jesus Questions, and Operatsye (Episode #257)FOI Equip2026-07-20 | 🎙️ Jew & Gentile Podcast — Episode Notes
In this episode of The Jew and Gentile Podcast, Chris and Steve explore the Talmud’s fascinating—and often humorous—description of the Seven Types of Pharisees. Six represent outward, hypocritical religion: displaying good deeds for attention, delaying obedience with pious excuses, performing exaggerated acts of modesty, keeping score with God, or serving Him only out of fear. The seventh, however, is the God-loving Pharisee—someone whose obedience flows from sincere faith and genuine love for God. Chris and Steve also examine several thought-provoking questions Jesus asked in the Gospels, including, “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?” and “Why are you so afraid?” The conversation then turns to modern antisemitism and the dangerous stereotype that Jewish people cannot experience hatred or discrimination because they are supposedly wealthy. Rep. Becca Balint recently recalled an unnamed congressional colleague dismissing antisemitism by claiming that “all the Jews are rich”—a statement that exposes how ancient prejudices continue to appear in modern political life. Finally, learn the Yiddish word of the day: אָפּעראַציע (operatsye), meaning “surgery,” along with כירורגיע (khirurgye), the Yiddish term for the medical practice or field of surgery.

In this episode of The Jew and Gentile Podcast, Chris and Steve continue their journey tracing the theme of blood throughout Scripture, moving from the cross to the throne room of heaven. They explore how Revelation presents the shed blood of Jesus not as something forgotten after salvation, but as the eternal song of heaven: “You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood.” From Revelation 5:9 to Revelation 12:11, Chris and Steve show how the blood of the Lamb remains central to worship, redemption, and spiritual victory. The conversation also turns to the lasting glory of the Lamb in eternity, where the marks of redemption are never erased and the work of Christ is forever remembered. Along the way, Chris and Steve discuss how believers overcome by “the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony,” reminding listeners that Christ’s sacrifice is not only the foundation of salvation but the believer’s ongoing victory.

The heart of the episode is a teaching installment in the ongoing series "The Shedding of Blood: From Genesis to Revelation," anchored in Leviticus 17:11 and the truth that "the life of the flesh is in the blood." Tracing the theme of blood through Scripture, the discussion moves from Christ's blood at the Last Supper (Matthew 26:28) inaugurating the New Covenant, through the cross as the final sacrifice, to Hebrews 9–10's argument for the superiority of Christ's once-for-all sacrifice over temporal animal offerings. It then follows blood's significance into the church age (Acts 20:28, Romans 5:9, Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:20, 1 Peter 1:18–19) as the basis of justification, redemption, reconciliation, and purchase, and finally into eschatology — blood in heaven's worship (Revelation 5:9), in the believer's spiritual victory (Revelation 12:11), and in the eternal glory of the Lamb (Revelation 7:14; 19:13; 21–22). The episode closes with the Yiddish Word of the Week segment, unpacking three Yiddish words for "question" — frage (an everyday question), kashe (a philosophical or tricky question, as in the Passover Four Questions), and shayle (a question of Jewish law posed to a rabbi).

In this episode of the Jew and Gentile Podcast, Chris Katulka and Steve Herzig share Dr. Tim Sigler upcoming FOI Equip class "When Your Jewish Friend Believes," before launching into the new teaching series, "The Shedding of Blood: From Genesis to Revelation." Anchored in Leviticus 17:11 ("it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul"), the episode traces blood as a thread running through all of Scripture, from Eden and the blood of Abel, through the covenants with Noah and Abraham, to the Passover blood on the doorposts that delivered Israel from judgment. The discussion continues through the blood sprinkled at Sinai that sealed Israel's covenant relationship with God, the Levitical sacrificial system in the tabernacle that underscored the seriousness of sin, and finally the Day of Atonement, when the high priest could only enter the Holy of Holies by means of blood. The classic hymn "Power in the Blood" by Lewis E. Jones is referenced as a musical reminder of the redeeming power of Christ's blood. Alongside the theological teaching, the episode features a look at Trump’s MOU and its usual mix of culture and current events: a YouTube clip of Matthew McConaughey sharing his favorite Bible verse, and The Yiddish Word of the Day, "hock a chinik" (literally "don't knock a teakettle at me"), figuratively means "stop bothering me" or "stop talking nonsense." The episode wraps up with mentions of the Equip program and the free sticker giveaway, featuring phrases like "Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem" and "Israel Forever." 🕎 Yiddish Word of the Day Hock a Chinik (האק מיר נישט קיין טשייניק) - Blood Today's word is hock a chinik — and no, we're not talking about hockey. The phrase comes from the longer Yiddish expression "hak mir nisht keyn tshaynik," which literally means "don't knock a teakettle at me." Picture an old teakettle rattling and clanging on the stove, going on and on with no signs of stopping — that's exactly the image. Figuratively, it means "stop bothering me," "stop talking nonsense," or "you're driving me crazy with all this noise."
So next time someone won't stop nagging you about something pointless, you can just say, "Okay, okay — stop hocking me a chinik!" It's the kind of phrase your Jewish grandmother might've used on your uncle at the dinner table. Equal parts exasperated and endearing — which, honestly, describes most great Yiddish expressions.

In this episode of the Jew and Gentile Podcast, Chris Katulka kicks things off with a viral moment making the rounds — a pastor literally flying down to the stage to declare to his congregation, "Every eye will see Him," a dramatic illustration of Christ's return from Revelation 1:7. From there, Chris shares a fascinating excerpt from JD Vance's book about a candid moment with Donald Trump, who reportedly said, "I want to try and get to heaven, if possible — I'm hearing I'm not doing well," prompting Vance to reflect on Trump's personal relationship with God. The episode also touches on sobering news from Israel, including 157 people killed on Israeli roads, renewed fighting in the north and how citizens there are coping, a celebrated Jewish bakery in Berlin closing due to antisemitic harassment since October 7, and an encouraging story of 60,000 people — Christians, Persians, Hindus, and many others — showing up in Toronto for a record-breaking pro-Israel march. On a lighter note, Jewish rapper Kosha Dillz is going viral celebrating New York Knicks mania with his music video "Parade," filmed right in the middle of NBA Finals fever sweeping NYC's Jewish community. The heart of this episode launches a brand-new series titled The Shedding of Blood: From Genesis to Revelation — because as Chris puts it, the Bible runs red with blood. Anchored in Leviticus 17:11, which declares that the life of the flesh is in the blood, Chris walks listeners through the first four blood moments of Scripture: God's substitutionary covering for Adam and Eve in Eden (Genesis 3:21), Abel's blood crying out for justice from the ground (Genesis 4:10), the sanctity of human life established in the Noahic Covenant (Genesis 9:4-6), and the blood ratification of God's covenant with Abraham (Genesis 15). Along the way, Chris draws on the timeless hymn Power in the Blood by Lewis E. Jones to frame the theological weight of what blood means — life, sacrifice, atonement, covenant, and redemption. Next week the series continues with Passover, Sinai, the Tabernacle, and the Day of Atonement. Don't forget to grab your free Israel stickers at FOI's website, and tune in June 25th when Dr. Tim Sigler joins the podcast for When Your Jewish Friend Believes. This week's Yiddish Word of the Week: the word for blood is בלוט — pronounced Blut.

🕎 Yiddish Word of the Day Blut (בלוט) - Blood This week's Yiddish Word of the Week is בלוט — pronounced Blut — the Yiddish word for "blood." Yiddish, the historic language of Ashkenazi Jewish communities, draws heavily from German, which is why Blut sounds nearly identical to the German word for blood as well. It's a fitting word for this week's episode as we begin our new series, The Shedding of Blood: From Genesis to Revelation — a reminder that the story of redemption is woven into the very language and history of the Jewish people.

This week on the Jew and Gentile Podcast, Chris kicks things off with a question you never thought you'd hear on a Jewish ministry show — what is a Mummer? If you're not from Philadelphia, you might not know that the Mummers are one of America's oldest folk traditions, but this year they showed up to march in New York's Israel Day Parade — sequins, feathers, and all — showing solidarity with Israel on the streets of Manhattan. Only in America. From there, Chris shares updates on FOI Equip and what it means to become an Equipper, and highlights the free Israel stickers available right now — Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, I Love Israel, God Bless Israel, and Israel Forever. Links are in the show notes. There's a lot happening this week every follower of Jesus needs to hear. A Jewish man named Daniel Grand is fighting all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court after being told he needed a permit to host a prayer gathering in his own home. A Washington Nationals executive was fired after video surfaced showing he blackballed pitcher Trevor Williams from social media promotions because of his Christian faith. Antisemitism is still rearing its ugly head on New York City subways. And for the first time since the Bubonic Plague, the world is facing population decline — except Israel, where four children is the new two. That's not an accident, that's covenant. Which brings us to this — Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen. Put that together with Revelation 19 and what do you get? The King is coming, and every thread of history — every courtroom, every parade, every baby born in Israel — converges on His eternal reign. The Yiddish word for kingdom this week is malkhes. And one day, that kingdom will be undeniable. Thine is the kingdom. Forever. Amen.

🕎 Yiddish Word of the Day Malkhes (מלוכה) - Kingdom This week's Yiddish word is malkhes — kingdom. Now if that word sounds familiar, it should, because it's borrowed straight from Hebrew. In Yiddish, malkhes carries the idea of a reign, a realm, a dominion — not just a place, but a rule. And when Jesus taught His disciples to pray "Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever, Amen" — that word kingdom is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Put it together with Revelation 19 and the picture gets breathtaking. The King rides in, every nation bows, and what was prayed for centuries becomes reality. Malkhes — His kingdom. Forever. Amen.

Chris and Steve open the episode with a scholarly angle — the Apostle Paul and what it truly means to be a mensch, connecting righteousness to that deeply Jewish concept of being a person of integrity and good character. They celebrate the incredible news out of Jacksonville, Florida, where Church Eleven22 baptized 2,552 people at their annual beach baptism at Hanna Park — up from nearly 2,000 the year before. The guys tie this to what they're calling "Israel's Altar Call," and highlight FOI's upcoming June 25th episode featuring Dr. Tim Sigler on "When Your Jewish Friend Believes," along with the free Israel stickers initiative and the call to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. The theological heart of the episode unpacks the Lord's Prayer — specifically "lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." Chris and Steve work through the tension between James 1:13 (God does not tempt us to sin) and Matthew 4:1 (Jesus led by the Spirit into the desert to be tested), landing on the idea that testing can reveal what's in our hearts, fortify our will, and make us an example to other believers. On the news front, they cover Israel pushing deeper into Lebanon beyond the ceasefire line in response to Hezbollah drone attacks, the IDF's 78th anniversary, Elizabeth Pipko's honest reflections on fear and antisemitism in America, a Brooklyn co-op boycott vote, and the political fallout surrounding a Democrat who called for Zionists to be imprisoned. The Yiddish Word of the Week: farhern — to examine, quiz, or test.

🕎 Yiddish Word of the Day Farhern (פֿאַרהערן) To examine, quiz, or test someone. In the old Jewish world, farhern was the word used when a rabbi would quiz his students on their Torah portions — a sacred kind of testing meant to reveal what had truly been learned. It's the perfect word for this week's episode, because as Chris and Steve unpacked from the Lord's Prayer, not all testing is punishment. Sometimes God's farhern is the very thing that reveals the faith already growing inside us.

Steve stumbled onto a comedian that he's pretty sure everyone else already knows about — Nate Bargatze. The Tennessee native has become one of the biggest names in comedy, doing it all clean, family-friendly, and openly Christian, viewing his career as a calling from God. He's outsold Beyoncé in tickets, hosted Saturday Night Live twice, and has plans to build a Disney World-style theme park called Nateland in Nashville. Chris and Steve will also highlight the upcoming June 25th episode featuring Dr. Tim Sigler on "When Your Jewish Friend Believes" and the free Israel stickers initiative at freeisraelstickers.com. The heart of the episode turns to a fascinating biblical connection — the phrase "forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors" from the Lord's Prayer is directly tied to the concept of the Year of Jubilee, Israel's great reset of debts, freedom, and restoration. Chris and Steve will unpack what that means for how we read Jesus's prayer through a deeply Jewish lens. On the news front, they'll wade into a four-day Pride festival planned at the Dead Sea — near the believed site of Sodom, at the lowest place on earth — and respond to Tucker Carlson's use of the event to question support for Israel. The guys agree with Tucker that the festival is nothing to celebrate, but disagree that it's a reason to abandon support for a Jewish state for the Jewish people, with Paul's words in Romans 10–11 as their guide. They'll close out with the Yiddish Word of the Week: schloch.

This week, Chris and Steve open with a laugh — Steve's attempt at Jewish meditation is going about as well as you'd expect, and a joke about letting others finish their sentences sets the tone for a lively episode. Then we turn to a sobering story about religious freedom. A 78-year-old retired pastor in Northern Ireland was convicted and fined for preaching John 3:16 near a hospital in a so-called "restricted area." It's a reminder that the freedom to share the gospel is increasingly under pressure in the Western world. From there, Chris and Steve talk about FOI's free Israel sticker giveaway at freeisraelstickers.com — stickers designed not to start riots, but conversations. They also highlight upcoming FOI Equip classes, including Pastor Tommy Nelson on Daniel's 70th Week and Dr. Tim Sigler on what to do when your Jewish friend believes in Jesus. The guys then open up the Lord's Prayer, exploring what Jesus really meant when He taught us to ask for our daily bread — and why that request is far bigger than what's on the dinner table. In the news, Chris and Steve discuss Joel Rosenberg's report on the fraying Iran ceasefire, with President Trump growing impatient and the blockade costing Iran hundreds of millions of dollars a day. They also cover the stunning story of an IDF combat soldier jailed for wearing a "Messiah" patch on his uniform — a story that has parents, rabbis, and Knesset members shaking their heads. 🕎 Yiddish Word of the Day Today's word is broyt — the Yiddish word for bread. And what better week to learn it, as we've been reflecting on what Jesus meant when He taught us to pray, "Give us this day our daily broyt." The Jewish roots of that prayer run deeper than most of us realize, and knowing even a single word of the mama loshn — the "mother tongue" of the Jewish people — brings us a little closer to the world Jesus lived in.

This week, Chris and Steve open with a fascinating look at the science of natural rejuvenation — the mysterious cellular process by which embryos reverse the biological markers of age inherited at conception, returning to a kind of ground zero of youth within the first two weeks of life. It's a wonder written into creation itself. Then we dive into the kingdom of God. Is the kingdom Jesus proclaimed a present spiritual reality, a future earthly reign, or both? We'll explore how the phrase appears throughout Matthew, what Jesus meant when He taught His disciples to pray "Your kingdom come," and why a dispensational understanding of the kingdom matters for how we read Scripture and anticipate what God is still doing in human history. In the news, Chris and Steve discuss the latest developments surrounding U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations and what a potential framework deal could mean for Israel, a nation that lives every day under the shadow of Iran's proxies. We'll also look at anti-Zionist protests outside Park East Synagogue in Manhattan, a student vote to defund a campus Hillel chapter, and the remarkable story of Israel — a country the size of New Jersey — stepping in to supply jet fuel to Germany, one of Europe's most powerful nations. Echoed in:

🇲🇽 New Ministry Vision — Shalom Mexico! FOI’s North American Ministries is expanding southward into Mexico by: Partnering with local churches
Leveraging FOI’s Spanish-speaking staff
Promoting a biblical love for Israel from a Latin-American perspective
Using Spanish I Love Israel stickers in outreach
If this vision stirs your heart, pray about supporting the launch of “Shalom Mexico.” Support by going to foiequip.org
📖 Teaching Segment: Minutia in Genesis Led Zeppelin, “Stairway to Heaven,” and Genesis 28 Reference the song “Stairway to Heaven” sung by Robert Plant
Connect it creatively to Jacob’s ladder in Genesis 28:10–22
Jacob’s Story (Genesis 28) Traveling to find a wife; stops in the middle of nowhere Uses a stone for a pillow Dreams of a ladder reaching from earth to heaven Angels ascending and descending The LORD at the top, reaffirming the Abrahamic promise
Jacob’s Response “The Lord is in this place, and I didn’t know it.” Calls it the gate of heaven Declares the place awesome in the true sense Turns the pillow-stone into a pillar Anoints it Names it Bethel (“House of God”)
New Testament Bridge — John 1 Jesus says of Nathanael: “An Israelite in whom there is no Jacob (no deceit).”
John 1:51: “You will see heaven opened and angels ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
Point: In Genesis, the angels move on a ladder. In John, the angels move on Jesus. Jesus is the ladder—He is the connection between heaven and earth. Babel vs Bethel Babel: man tries to climb to heaven
Bethel: God opens heaven down to man
Moments When Heaven Opens in Scripture John 1:51 – Angels ascending/descending on the Son of Man Jesus’ baptism: Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:10; Luke 3:21 Acts 7:55–56 – Stephen sees Jesus standing at God’s right hand Revelation 4:1 – A door opens in heaven Revelation 19:11 – Heaven opens, white horse revealed Ezekiel 1:1 – Heavens opened, visions of God

Class Description: In recent days, well-known voices—even some trusted by Christians—have begun questioning Israel’s place in God’s plan and whether the Bible really calls us to bless the Jewish people. It’s time to respond. Join Bruce Scott, Ty Perry, and Cameron Joyner as they examine and answer popular arguments raised by figures such as Joel Webbon, Tucker Carlson, and others. Together, they’ll address pressing questions: Are the Jewish people of today the same people we read about in Scripture? How do believers bless a nation that is largely secular? Most importantly, you’ll walk away prepared to answer the central question: Should Christians Bless Modern Israel?

📖 Teaching Segment — Minutia in Genesis: Abraham’s Holy Chutzpah (Genesis 18) Theme: Abraham displayed “holy chutzpah” by interceding for Sodom and Gomorrah. What happens in Genesis 18? God reveals His plan to judge the cities
Abraham steps in as intercessor — priest-like, friend-like
He negotiates with God (50 → 45 → 40 → 30 → 20 → 10)
God agrees each time
Tragically, fewer than 10 righteous people were found
Why this matters: God is approachable
He delights in justice
Abraham models intercessory prayer
He stands between judgment and mercy
A foreshadowing of the priestly role fulfilled perfectly in Messiah

From David Levy’s summary of the angelic interpretation: The union produced nephilim (fallen ones), warriors, and men of renown. “Sons of God” in Jewish Scripture appears referring to angels. Context points to why God brought the flood. Angels appeared physically (Abraham’s visitors). Jewish authors and early church leaders held this view.

🕯️ Holocaust Remembrance — January 27, 2026 🔗 jpost.com/israel-news/culture/article-882485 Two dates Christians should know: International Holocaust Remembrance Day (Jan 27): • For the world. • UN-designated. • Marks liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau (1945). Yom HaShoah (27 Nisan): • For the Jewish community. • Established in 1953. • A time for internal reflection, storytelling, honoring survivors, educating children. • Falls April 13–14 in 2026 (Monday–Tuesday).
📖 From the Scriptures — Genesis Minutiae: Polygamy God’s design: Adam + Eve → “The two shall become one flesh” (Gen 2:24)
Historical reality: Lamech — first polygamist (Gen 4:19) Abraham — Sarah + Hagar (Gen 16, 21) Jacob — Leah, Rachel, Zilpah, Bilhah (Gen 29–30) Esau — multiple wives (Gen 26:34; 28:9; 36:2–3) David — at least 8 wives Solomon — 700 wives + 300 concubines (1 Kgs 11:3)
Key point: 👉 Polygamy in the Bible is descriptive, not prescriptive. God actually condemns it: Deut 17:17 — Kings must not multiply wives “or else their heart will turn away.” Consequences in Scripture: Reuben sleeps with Bilhah (Gen 35:22) Amnon assaults Tamar → Absalom kills him (2 Sam 13) Absalom sleeps with David’s concubines (2 Sam 16:22) Solomon’s wives turn his heart (1 Kgs 11:3)
Definitions: Polygamy: multiple spouses Polyandry: one woman, many husbands Polyamory: multiple consensual partners (not marriage)

Class Description: Did you know there’s a single word in the Old Testament that shows up more than 250 times—yet no English translation can fully capture its meaning? That word is Hesed. Since it’s one of the key words used to describe God’s character, understanding Hesed is essential. In this course, Dr. Joe Zhakevich, an expert in biblical Hebrew, will help us see how rich and powerful this word really is. Start the year with a study you won’t forget!

💧 Iran Is Dying from the Inside A sobering look at Iran’s internal crisis—not from war, but from water. Massive drought, failed dam projects, and the collapse of ancient qanat systems are destabilizing the nation from within. 👉 Full report from Yale Environment 360: https://e360.yale.edu/features/iran-water-drought-dams-qanats This is a reminder that regimes often fall apart long before they fall down.
📜 Minutia of Genesis: The Mystery of Melchizedek We dive into one of Scripture’s most fascinating figures—Melchizedek, the priest-king who appears briefly but powerfully. Key Highlights: Name means “King of Righteousness” King of Salem (Jerusalem) Priest of El Elyon (God Most High) Meets Abram after the defeat of Chedorlaomer (Genesis 14) Blesses Abram; Abram gives him a tithe Serves bread and wine Described in Hebrews 7 as “without father or mother…without genealogy” Presented as a type of Christ, pointing forward to Jesus’ eternal priesthood “The LORD has sworn and will not change His mind, ‘You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.’” (Psalm 110:4) Some argue Melchizedek was simply a historical priest-king; others see him as one of the clearest foreshadows of Messiah in the Hebrew Scriptures.
🕎 Yiddish Word of the Day Nosh – a snack Ayzkrem – ice cream Which brings us full circle… maybe Dr. Emanuel is right after all. 🍦😉
