Dan Crenshaw2024-10-04 | Sixty years ago, Americans could easily envision a not-too-distant future of vacations on Mars, miracle cures, clean and infinite energy, and, of course, flying cars. But the dream collapsed, we entered an era of technological and economic stagnation, and pop culture became fixated on catastrophizing the outcomes of scientific innovations. AEI’s James Pethokoukis traces the origins of this “Great Downshift” in optimism and progress – largely due to 1970s regulatory decisions and changes in risk tolerance – and he gives us a roadmap for returning to the era of a risk-taking, future-oriented society.

Crenshaw questions HHS Secretary on gender transitions for minorsRep. Dan Crenshaw2024-04-18 | The Biden Administration proves every day just how radical they are. This time, Biden’s Secretary of Health & Human Services refuses to admit that his department is pushing pseudoscience disguised as healthcare. But healthcare is not 1) affirming a child’s temporary ideations about their gender, 2) putting that child on puberty blockers, then hormones, and ultimately surgery. Most Americans and normal people would say that giving a 12-year-old girl a double mastectomy is not ok. If you’re going to support transitioning children (which is NUTS), with permanent physiological changes –you better have VERY HIGH-QUALITY evidence. But the Left has no good evidence.
It’s all Left-Wing ideology that has infected our medical institutions, including major medical associations and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. Dr. Hillary Cass, a former president of the Royal College of Pediatrics and one of the U.K.’s most highly respected pediatricians, was appointed by the National Health Service in England to head an independent review. The final review came out last week, and it pretty much torches the so-called “gender-affirming” approach that the United States has taken. To quote the review: “The evidence [for puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and surgery] is weak and clinicians have told us they are unable to determine with any certainty which children and young people will go on to have [gender dysphoria].” –The Cass Review
Want to know their key finding? Of the more than 100 studies examining the role of puberty blockers and hormone treatment for gender transition only 2 were of passable quality. Our peer countries are yelling at the United States to stop mutilating children. And I asked the Secretary a very basic question: whether he would listen. His answer: we rely on medical associations and the best evidence available. He’s a mouthpiece for the Radical Left. Gender ideology belongs in the ash heap of history, and that’s exactly why I will continue to push my legislation to defund children’s hospitals that push this pseudoscience. Finally, we are taking the cartel threat seriously (well, some of us are anyway)Rep. Dan Crenshaw2024-04-12 | This may come as a surprise to you (it was for me when I found out), but we can’t legally use FISA authorities to “wiretap” the Mexican drug cartel affiliates or the Chinese companies that make precursors for fentanyl. We are missing an enormous amount of information about supply chains, money laundering, trafficking, and production - all because the law isn’t updated to deal with this new fentanyl problem.
So today I offered an amendment to change that. It was very simple, only one sentence. It would simply allow us to apply for warrants to wiretap these cartel organizations operating overseas. It was NOT attached to any other legislation or “poison pills” that would give anyone a reasonable excuse to vote against it.
No brainer right?
Luckily it passed. It will likely become law. It will help stop these thugs and save American lives.
Who would be against that? Well, it turns out about 83 Republicans and 69 Democrats are against collecting intelligence on cartels or their Chinese partners. Ironically, many of these members talk a really tough talk about cartels. They talk about “fighting them.” How do you fight an enemy you can’t even collect intelligence on?
But when given a simple choice, they chose NOT to take the first step necessary to actually be “tough” against murderous cartels and their buddies in China.
The reasons I got? It “expanded” surveillance.
No, it updates the list of FOREIGN targets in FOREIGN lands that we can apply for a warrant to target.
Am I surprised? Pissed? Maybe. Definitely disappointed. I’m tired of seeing people up here say one thing and do another. It’s exhausting.
They might be against the FISA program (that’s a whole other debate), but against collecting intelligence on cartels? Seriously? They had the chance to vote against the FISA bill (which they did) but still support the amendment to target cartels if they had wanted to. They were separate votes. The amendments always come first.
Sorry, but you need to hear this. You need to know the truth about what goes on up here. You need to know that those 83 Republicans aligned with the far-left progressives to try and take down this amendment. I count many of them as friends and partners, even if we don’t always agree. So I was astonished by this result.
But it passed. Thank God. I can go home and tell the parents of fentanyl victims that we are fighting for them, and actually taking action.
But if you hear the Nay votes talking tough about the cartels, make them explain why they voted to protect El Chapo, Chinese companies making precursors, or money launderers in Mexico. Ask them why they don’t want us to spy on them *even with a warrant.* (yes! This amendment actually just allows us to APPLY for a warrant!!!)
I was tempted to list their names here. I won’t. I’m not trying to get you to swarm their offices. But I’m not going to sugarcoat the truth either. You can look up vote records easily by googling “house roll call votes Bill Number: H. R. 7888" and clicking on Roll Call Votes - Clerk of the United States House of Representatives.
And f*** the cartels.Debunking the Myths and Misconceptions about FISA | Rep. Brian FitzpatrickRep. Dan Crenshaw2024-04-11 | There has been a lot of controversy - and lies - this week over the re-authorization of FISA (the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act). Rep. Crenshaw sat down with Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, a former FBI agent and member of House Intel, to debunk the hand wringing and misconceptions about FISA. They give an overview of FISA's history and its distinction between Title One and Title Three, and delve into the role of Section 702 in enhancing national security measures. Misconceptions surrounding FISA are addressed, including the distinction between evidence collection and querying lawfully obtained data. They scrutinize proposals for a secondary warrant requirement and their potential impact on law enforcement investigations. They also discuss limitations on law enforcement capabilities and proposed reforms to prevent abuses within intelligence agencies.
For 14 years prior to representing his hometown of Pennsylvania's First Congressional District, Brian Fitzpatrick served our nation both as an FBI Special Agent and Federal Prosecutor, fighting both domestic and international political corruption, and supporting global counterterrorism and counterintelligence efforts – including being embedded with U.S. Special Forces as part Operation Iraqi Freedom.
