Fedora 36 Linux - playing Elden Ring via Steam Proton mode & OS overview beavermatic 2022-05-15 | Giving Elden Ring a quick test on Fedora 36 Linux (released May 10, 2022) and highlighting some of the GNOME 42 and system features thereafter.Elden Ring is running through Steam Proton mode (Proton 7.0-2), and it runs FLAWLESSLY! Using a PS5 controller, running on a Dell XPS 9710 (early 2022 model) with a Geforce RTX 3060 mobile and the Nvidia Proprietary Linux drivers (though the opensource drivers were just released today! yay!)Fedora 36 is drop dead gorgeous and one POWERFUL operating system! Quake 2021 remaster on Fedora Core 34 via Steam Proton mode beavermatic 2021-08-21 | yay! it works in proton.running on a Dell Inspiron 5515 laptop with AMD Ryzen 7 5900H on Fedora Core 34 with kernel 5.14 rc6 and gnome40/Waylandwhile the OG Quake 1 on steam has native Linux compatibility, the new remaster/revitalized edition on Steam does not yet natively support Linux.It does, however, work flawlessly using Steams Proton compatibility mode in Linux (like most other non-native games).You will need to set proton to "Proton Experimental" under steam general settings, and additionally set the game itself to "Proton Experimental" under the game properties in your steam library list.the game will try to default to proton 3.7 under its own steam play compatibility settings, and will ignore the steam default settings, which will cause the game not to boot. make sure it's set to "proton experimental" in both places.
