But how was I supposed to resist trying this new Metallic Ribbon Yarn in this gorgeous soft rainbow color? It works up so beautifully, and I am absolutely loving all the sparkle. The colors are stunning, and the metallic shine makes every stitch pop.

Now tell me I’m not the only one who starts a new project before finishing the last one! I swear I never used to be like this. I was always the person who finished one project before starting the next.Try this for your next basket! For my second round, I did four single wraps, then a double wrapMaCREme by Cre2026-06-12 | Try this for your next basket!
For my second round, I did four single wraps, then a double wrap into the center hole. When I got to the third round, instead of only doing my double wrap into round two, I went back into the center hole again, did two single wraps, added a figure eight stitch, did two more single wraps to make a total of four, and then went back into the center hole once more, continuing this for the entire round.
Now as you can see, my basket is set up to have even spacing all the way around for round four.

So I’m on a mission to use them all up!
I already finished one roll of a different yarn earlier, and now I’m hoping to finish up this gorgeous Solterra yarn. I’m crocheting this one because it’s much quicker, and I can work through more of my yarn stash.
These bases are designed for coiling, not crochet, so I had to take my time and use a tiny 2mm hook to attach it to the base. I also had to add a few random increases since the hole spacing isn’t designed for crochet. It took a little extra planning, but I do have an idea for this one.
Follow to see how it turns out! Here are my best tips for adding a new piece of yarn and getting even spacing throughout your basketMaCREme by Cre2026-06-07 | Here are my best tips for adding a new piece of yarn and getting even spacing throughout your basket.
Some people place three or four wraps throughout the entire basket, but those wraps do not always line up. They can end up overlapping and create a less polished look. If you want even spacing, you need to be intentional about placing your wraps centered between the double wraps from the previous round.
As you work, pay attention to your wraps and make sure they are straight before adding more and moving on to the next section.
Your basket should also be turning as you work. Since I wrap toward the left, I turn my basket toward the right so I am always working directly in front of me. This helps keep your wraps straight and your spacing consistent throughout the basket.
