Remove Dead Bees From Honey Comb with LP Air, Beekeeping Quick Tip, Dead-Out cleanup. Frederick Dunn 2024-05-09 | Save the comb, clean it up with low pressure air and reuse it.If there is mold or mildew present, blow of as much lose material as possible and then immerse the comb/frame in a bucket of 10% bleach solution for two hours. Then rinse out softened pollen and other debris with fresh water.Air Dry and put into storage, or re-assemble your hive.Yes, there was some moisture coming out of the nozzle, the tank needed to be drained. This air compressor is too small, I'm in the market for a larger capacity unit.You can use air to blow off your bottom boards also.The nozzle shown was purchased on Amazon. You'll save fuel for your next inspection.Smokers with removable burner baskets work best. You can also pull the basket out of the smoker and light from beneath and insert the basket back into the smoker housing.

GoPro Hero 8, 9, and 10, How Close will they focus? Distortion? Too Close? Linear vs Wide Angle. Frederick Dunn 2024-03-12 | Many of my viewers use GoPro Cameras to video their bees and bee hive conditions. These cameras are outstanding for the money, and considering that they focus on your face as well as the mountain range behind you, they are impressive.But, if you're vlogging and showing honey bees on the frame, moving your GoPro too close will result in sub-par details. In this video, I demonstrate three newer GoPo Hero Black Edition Cameras.I use a calibration card designed to test focus, and distortion, as well as some gray-scale and color samples.The good news is that they all focus well at 12-13" from the camera lens.If you need to get closer than that, I highly recommend getting a dedicated macro lens that's designed for your specific GoPro Model.The Hero 8 was the best of the three for close-ups, at 9" with passable clarity.I'm not going to recommend a specific GoPro macro lens as none of them are from GoPro, and may not measure up.NOTE: If your final video will be shared at 1080p, you an make your video from the safe distance of 13", shoot it in 4K, then zoom in for the details in 1080p. You have options available in the app. I purchased the Nature Cam in the past for close-up video captures of mice, and other bee-related activity. I live in black bear country and have had a bear damage my hives in the past. I removed my electric fence and placed 15 motion-activated alarms with solar charging panels on them. If you take your electric fence down, you accept that risk. Honey Bees In Super Slow Motion ASMR, at 999 fps, 160 fps, and 240 fps, Audio Immersion. + Roosters Frederick Dunn 2024-02-22 | This video has no narration.Honey Bees are shown fluttering their wings and in flight at various video frame rates.The Audio is immersive, so may help babies sleep, or head phone users to get as close as possible to the honey bees.There is no narration, so the sounds of the bees partnered with some chicken sounds will not be disrupted.You'll notice that in some segments the honey bees' wings may appear to freeze in mid-air. That's when the frame rate of the camera nearly matches the wing beats of the bee. Normally around 240 wing beats per second. This wing speed/frequency does vary a little.The end of the video is just honey bee sounds captured over a pollen substitute. The audio is slowed to match the 900+ frames per second capture rate.If you want to use this video/audio to calm pets, or even people, you can just right click on the video screen and select "Loop", then let it play for as long as you need it. Defensive behavior variation was not significantly different, however when electricity was added to cause the bee to extend her sting, droplet production was evaluated.
