The journey of 2JZ swapping this Dodge Hellcat has been relatively smooth all things considered. We were able to put a 2JZ engine into this Dodge Hellcat without having to cut anything! Now that the 2JZ Dodge Hellcat is running and driving. We have to figure out all the little things to make the 2JZ Dodge Hellcat go FAST! Making more than 1000RWHP on FuelTech's dyno means the 2JZ Dodge Hellcat has plenty of power. We just need it to translate to speed on the race track!

The 2JZ engine was never designed to be put into a heavy car like the Dodge Hellcat. So, the gearing on this 2JZ swapped Dodge Hellcat is very important. We already swapped in a 3.90 differential from a Dodge Scat Pack into the 2JZ Dodge Hellcat. This helped, but we still have more work to do! With a big showdown between the 2JZ Dodge Hellcat and Lee's Panther Pink Demon 170 on the horizon. We have to work quick to make sure the 2JZ swapped Dodge Hellcat is race ready!

ScrapLife Garage 2025-07-09 | Over the last month the Scrap Life team has been working hard to 2JZ swap my Dodge Hellcat. Surprisingly, 2JZ swapping a Dodge Hellcat went easier than we thought. Now that it's running though, keeping my 2JZ swapped Dodge Hellcat in once piece might prove to be harder than I thought!

I have 48 hours to get ready to put my 2JZ Dodge Hellcat on FuelTech's dyno. But I can't seem to keep my 2JZ Dodge Hellcat running! We have a massive engine oil leak coming from the back of the 2JZ. Some sort of weird fuel pressure issue possibly related to the Dodge Hellcat fuel tank design. Oh, and once we get all of that fixed, my 2JZ Dodge Hellcat decided to grenade a pretty crucial driveline component. Nothing is ever easy! What can you expect when you swap a 1200HP capable 2JZ engine into a Dodge Hellcat though?

The 2JZ swapped Hellcat is SOOOOO close to coming to life! But, the systems we have yet to complete are some of the big ones. Fitting a Toyota 2JZ engine into the Dodge Hellcat chassis has been fairly straight forward thus far. But there is old saying about not counting chickens before they hatch. So, we are going to keep our focus locked in until this 2JZ swapped Hellcat runs.

I picked up a Mishimoto Carbon Fiber Intercooler in order to cool intake charge temps as much as possible. But, as is with everything else on this 2JZ swapped Hellcat. We have to figure out how to make it fit along with the associated charge piping. Our engine oil cooling is provided from a massive Improved Racing oil cooler. All of which mounts to a custom front crash bar designed specifically for this 2JZ swapped Hellcat. Once wrapping up the fuel system and wiring. The 2JZ swapped Hellcat is ready to fire for the first time. Which, or course, rarely goes as smoothly as it should!

A 2JZ swap into a Dodge Hellcat was a wild idea that is quickly coming to life! The drivetrain is mounted into the Hellcat chassis. Slowly but surely we are checking things off our list to make this 2JZ swapped Hellcat a running and driving car. That list though, is a long one!

We need to swap virtually every component over from our donor scat pack, into our Hellcat. Every wire harness, module, and even some suspension components. Believe it or not, the gas tank could turn into one of our biggest headaches on this 2JZ Hellcat project. While we wait for components, we have plenty to keep us busy though. Fabrication of the throttle body mount and cooling system are the biggest tasks at hand. By the end of the video, we manage to have a pretty complete looking 2JZ swapped Hellcat engine bay!

Stolen Dodge Hellcats are a dime a dozen. But this particular stolen Dodge Hellcat has a bright future. Instead of being destined to be cut up in the back corner of a chop shop. This Dodge Hellcat is going to get a second chance. But it is certainly not going to be rebuilt to factory spec!

After being stolen and sold at salvage auction, Lee purchased this Dodge Hellcat to use all the wiring for the Crispy Dodge Demon project. Knowing the factory supercharged power plant would never run again in this Dodge Hellcat chassis. Fernando used the engine to power his Hellcat swapped 350z. Which left a perfectly usable, but very stripped Dodge Hellcat chassis. The perfect blank slate! What better engine to put in place, than the most famous 6 cylinder to ever come out of Japan. I've got an itch I can't scratch! It's for a BMW B58 project car. Seeing these b58 BMW's continue to make impressive power numbers has me thinking about taking on a rebuild from salvage auction. The question becomes, is it worth it? Can I pick up a B58 powered BMW from salvage auction for a good deal?!

The nice thing is, there are plenty of options for these BMW's at the salvage auction. Today we are looking at the cream of the crop. BMW m2, m3, m4 and a couple other surprises. Including, a Supra? Obviously, we can't be looking at B58 BMW's without checking out an A90 Supra when given the chance. The mid Atlantic Copart salvage auctions have a wide range of choices. The Porsche 911 is considered by many in the automotive community to be the top dawg. But, in order for it compete, the Porsche 911 needs a pair of turbos. Or, it needs to be a GT spec Porsche 911, with a larger displacement engine. A "regular" Porsche 911 Carrera just lacks the punch it needs from the wimpy boxer engine.

The solution? Shove a good ole fashion, pushrod American V8 in this Porsche 911. Its been done a million times. In many more chassis than the Porsche 911. A 6.2L Chevrolet V8 solves problems for plenty of engines that are lacking. So, how do you spice things up a bit? How about we try to accomplish this swap in one workday. 8 hours to take this rolling chassis Porsche 911. To a fire breathing 6.2L Chevrolet LS swapped Porches 911.

Or stolen. In short, there is a reason the V8 muscle is at a discounted price. The question becomes, is the discount worth the risk?

Lee and I search the Mid Atlantic Copart lots for a glimpse of some of the V8 muscle auction deals. Whether its a parts car, or a potential rebuild. A little over a month ago, this Ford Mustang was sitting wrecked at a Copart salvage auction lot. Now, thanks to a pair of Comp Twin Turbos, this Ford Mustang is set to make over 1000RWHP! My brother and I built this Ford Mustang in secret, so Lee would have no idea. Now, it's time to prove that this Ford Mustang can be a contender for Lee's Twin Turbo Corvette build!

First up, we put my brothers' Ford Mustang on the dyno and give it everything it's got. Making this Ford Mustang survive on the track is different story though. We buy tons of wrecked Ford Mustangs from salvage auction. There has always been an inclination to want to fix one and make it FAST! My brother decided too finally do just that. Just in time to spark a little competition between Lee and his "1500hp" Twin Turbo Corvette.

First things first, we need to make sure this Copart salvage auction Ford Mustang is a worthy chassis. We dive in fixing the physical damage on this Ford Mustang. But also getting it ready to make north of 1000RWHP. Courtesy of some Comp Turbos and supporting mods throughout. It's a race against time to complete this build before Lee realizes there is a new fastest car in the shop. And it's a FORD!

The journey of Viper V10 swapping my 1998 Nissan 240sx has been a long one. With plenty of large hurdles to cross along the way. It seems all that is left, is some small annoying details to put the finishing touches on this Viper V10 swapped Nissan 240sx. Then, it's off to Georgia to put the Viper V10 Swapped Nissan 240sx onto FuelTech's dyno.

After making some excellent numbers on the dyno N/A. We thought it would be fun to use a little "power adder" on the Viper V10 swapped Nissan 240sx. With the dyno complete, the next step is to finally drive this car and put it to the test. And I do mean put it to the test!

The Acura NSX has always been almost a mythical car. Exotic looks on the verge of being a super car. But, under delivering on the horsepower front to maybe get the respect it truly deserves. Luckily, there are several suitable options on the table for engine swaps into the Mazda Rx7. I have personally only ever swapped an LS engine in a Mazda Rx7. So, swapping a Honda k20 engine into this Mazda Rx7 is new territory for me! Luckily, we have a capable team here at the shop. I Bought A DESTROYED Nissan 240SX From Salvage Auction

The Nissan 240sx has always been an interesting car. It has never achieved the mythic status of the Toyota Supra, Acura NSX, or Mazda Rx7. But, the Nissan 240sx is still loved by many and has an enormous following with plenty of aftermarket support. Like some other JDM models from the 90's era, the Nissan 240sx's only real draw back is its 4 cylinder engine. With not a lot of power potential, owners often swap out the KA24 from their Nissan 240sx, in favor of something with a little bit more displacement. Like a Chevrolet LS1 V8!

Due to the age of the Nissan 240sx chassis, they often don't pop up at Copart salvage auction. The few that do, normally are not heavily modified. This car though, is a major exception! Not only did it make it to salvage auction after a HARD crash. But, all of the modifications remain on the vehicle. We thought we struck gold when the hammer closed at roughly $5500 for this wrecked Nissan 240sx. But, time will tell if that is the case in this Nissan 240sx Salvage Story!

The longest running project at the shop finally runs! My FD Rx7 has been around for nearly 5 years. For the first time in those 5 years, my FD Rx7 runs and drives under its own power. We have to wrap up a ton elements on the FD Rx7 to get it running though. Including wiring the entire car to work with my standalone Fuel Tech FT550 ECU. Luckily, the Fuel Tech LS550 Engine Harness makes this installation as easy as possible!

Even though it has taken forever, my FD Rx7 is only getting the best of the best parts. Fuel Tech Engine Control, Antigravity Battery, Improved Racing Lines and Fittings. Along with one of the best engines Chevrolet has ever made! This supercharged LSA engine should make enough power for my FD Rx7 to be scary. But, there might be a little surprise from A&A Corvettes at the end of this video!

A Nissan 240sx wasn't designed to have half the cylinders as a Dodge Viper V10. None the less, that did stop me from shoe horning a Viper V10 into my Nissan 240sx. There was A LOT of cutting and rearranging to fit the Viper V10 into the Nissan 240sx chassis. That was just the beginning of the journey to get the Viper V10 powered Nissan 240sx road worthy!

For the ECU and wiring for the Viper V10 Nissan 240sx we turned to the team at FuelTech for our needs. The FuelTech FT600 is going to control the Viper V10 engine in the Nissan 240sx chassis. With the engine control figured out, its just simple as wiring everything else, right! Tim and I are in charge of connecting all the dots to finally get the Viper V10 powered Nissan 240sx running and driving!

My plan? Make enough money salvaging parts frim the rest of the car so that I get the 6.2l LS3 engine and blower for FREE!

The Honda NSX might very well be the most famous Japanese car to come from the early 90s JDM boom in the United States. The Honda NSX's aluminum construction and supercar looks made it a wildly popular car. Even if the 6 cylinder engine was often thought to under perform. Especially in comparison to higher horsepower models such as the Supra and Rx7. The Honda NSX rarity and aluminum construction make it very difficult to fix in this day and age.

This particular Honda NSX is heavily modified. Sporting a complete aftermarket turbo setup with supporting mods as well. But, unfortunately, over 10 years ago this Honda NSX was wrecked on a simple drive to work in the rain one morning. A friend of mine bought this Honda NSX and has been storing it in his garage ever since! After a decade of hounding him, I was finally able to get my hands on this Honda NSX. Now, its time to see how hard of a repair this is going to be!

Currently it sits at a Copart salvage auction near Miami, Florida.. But I hope to change that (or bring home a GT3 as a consolation prize!

I Rebuilt A $96,000 Porsche Macan GTS CHEAP!

ScrapLife Garage 2024-01-30 | Welp.. After rebuilding far too many Porsche 911's it was time to find ourselves a matching daily driver at the salvage auction! I settled on a 2018 Macan GTS with a CRAZY options list, a $96,000 MSRP, finished in a sick paint to sample color called black grey!

I was able to buy it for nearly $70k off MSRP, but I might have underestimated the Porsche tax I was in for...

I Bought The BEST SS Chevrolet EVER From Copart!

ScrapLife Garage 2024-01-26 | The SS (Super Sport) name has a long and storied heritage with Chevrolet. From all the way back in the 60's, the SS name signified the best performance Chevrolet had to offer. Including the Camaro, Nova, Impala, and Monte Carlo to name a few. This means that giving a Chevrolet sedan the moniker "SS," is a pretty big deal.

The Chevrolet SS sedan embodies all the usual Super Sport qualities. A very healthy Chevrolet 6.2L LS3 engine, beautiful bucket seats, and Brembo brakes to tie the package together. The special part about the SS sedan though, is the true LS3/6L80e drivetrain. In typical fashion, I bought one of the worst condition ones that the salvage auction had to offer. That doesn't mean that this won't be a standout performer on the Salvage Story leader board though!

A salvage super car like an Audi R8 sounds like a great way to save thousands of dollars right? This is as long as everything goes smoothly with the rebuild! I sourced all my parts for this Audi R8 rebuild from eBay motors. We have rebuilt my Audi R8, but now its time to be tested. We cant be sure this Audi R8 is truly ready for the road until we have put it through its paces.

First up, we take my Audi R8 to our friends at A Plus Auto Styling to get it looking right for the road ahead! Next up we travel with my Audi R8 up to Pocono raceway for some 1/3 mile roll race testing with Racemotive. Then it's onto the open road for my Audi R8 for an endurance road trip down to Petit Le Mans in Atlanta GA. Just to north is a famous twisty road, the tail of the dragon, which will provide the ultimate test for any vehicle. If my Audi R8 can pass all these tests, surely its ready to be called complete. Right?

My Audi r8 is in rough shape. After spending months in a salvage auction lot. It’s finally time to put this Audi r8 back together. In order to fix my Audi r8, I am going to needs lots of parts though. Luckily, I found what I needed for my Audi r8 on eBay motors.

Now with all my parts sourced. I just need to put all the pieces of the puzzle together to get my Audi r8 back on the road. There is one slight problem though. This Audi r8 needs frame work. Luckily I know just the person to call for some beautiful aluminum welding on my Audi r8 frame. Once that’s complete, it’s as simple as bolting all the parts back on my Audi r8. Or is it?

The Audi R8 is widely considered one of the best "daily drivable" super cars that has ever existed. Most would consider the Audi R8 a dream car. Unfortunately, for me, owning an Audi R8 was a very distant dream. Until this particular Audi R8 popped up, wrecked at salvage auction.

Tons of modifications, high factory options and minimal damage. This Audi R8 almost looked too good to be true at salvage auction. The major damage to the front end on this Audi R8 is certainly the main cause for concern. But, the beautiful supercharger in the engine bay has me with stars in my eyes! Hopefully this Audi R8 is as easy of a fix as it appeared in pictures. The only thing that I am certain of, is that I will be sourcing all my parts to repair this Audi R8 from eBay motors!

ScrapLife Garage 2023-11-01 | After buying a 2018 Dodge Demon that was burned to the ground (literally) at salvage auction and rebuilding nearly the entire car, it's time to install our brand new 1000hp capable engine!

We SHOULD finally have everything we need to start the car... and now? It's just a matter of assembling it all and hoping the right thing happens when we hit the start button!

I Found A DESTROYED Ford GT At Copart Salvage Auction!

ScrapLife Garage 2023-10-06 | Today we hit Copart to check out the WILDEST car I've ever found up for sale at the salvage auction, a Ford GT!

But first, we check out a few other exotics, a Porsche 911 GT3, a pair of Audi R8's and a couple Ferraris (one real one fake...) Spoiler alert, the fake Ferrari was WAY cooler!

ScrapLife Garage 2023-09-22 | What started as a burned to the ground 2018 Dodge Demon that I bought at salvage auction now has a full body, full interior and is *almost* ready for a 1000hp supercharged engine.. but we still have a bit of work to do before we get there!

With new suspension, uber rare OEM Demon parts and much more in hand, it's time to get this Demon ready for it's new heart once and for all!
