HUNKY SENPAI - Abate Luigi Highlights - Super Smash Bros. Melee
updated
Also happy New Year to everyone watching, it's new year's eve as I write this and I'm gearing up for the next year. I have to write this description pretty quick though, as I got food in the oven and I don't want it to burn.
I can actually start to smell it burn, but I'm so committed to writing out this description before I go rescue it that maybe it has to burn. I'm letting my (late) breakfast cinder due to professional integrity. What a time to be alive!
I do not own these clips, they come from these videos (which is The Big House 10):
KoDoRiN vs aMSa - Melee Singles Top 64: Winners Quarters - The Big House 10 | Marth vs Yoshi - (youtube.com/watch?v=MtoBvMsJU44)

While I'd like to get through and do animations of all of the character taunts, that's going to be a lot of work and I make no promises that will happen - this alone took some time to create!
Still though, my goal for 2023 is to try and to finish this project. We'll see how far I get!

It's weird because I remember what I was doing that day - I was in my first year of university and I had picked up the game and played it all day. So okay maybe I don't remember all of the details but I know it definitely came out and I played it that day.
Weird to think though that 11 years later I'd be publishing a YouTube video on my channel where I'd be asking people to guess who is playing Mewtwo. What's even crazier is thinking about where I'll be 11 years FROM NOW.
At that point I'd be 40, so really the question is what will I be doing as a 40 year old? Married with kids? An astronaut? Will I still be uploading videos to the YouTube channel?
I guess I'll see... 11 years from now!
P. S. What sucks is that I won't remember that I wrote this 11 years from now, because it'd be really cool to come back and respond to this comment 11 years from now and be like "So yeah this is where my life is at right now."
Ah well. Good luck in the future, 40 year old me!

If you can't tell who it is with the reveal clip, I'd tell you to work on your reading comprehension. Though if that were the case, if you couldn't read the "Leffen", then you probably couldn't read this so that'd be a moot point.
Clip was pilfered from Leffen's channel:

I'm colorblind, so it's very hard for me to distinguish between blue and purple. But it's weird because I can often look at blue and be like "Yeah okay, this is blue", but when I look at purple I think "Okay I think this is blue?" and then it just ends up being purple!
I don't think others share my vitriol towards the color purple because I don't think many other people have this problem.
I should be clear as well - I don't hate the color purple, I'm just playing this up for "dramatic" effect. But if someone were to hold a gun to my head and then ask me if a color was blue or purple, chances are that person is going to pull the trigger.
I do not own these clips, they're from Lost Tech City:

I was going to also ask the Fox mains if the character is as fun as everyone makes him out to be, but I'll save that can of worms for another day.

Writing these descriptions is scary sometimes because I never know what you guys will latch on to. Sometimes I talk about stuff like Sonic Fan Fiction and no one cares, but then sometimes I just say "I like the Dark Knight" and people respond to that.
Speaking of the Dark Knight, that came out in 2008... which was 14 years ago. That sure makes me feel a little old.
You know what's also insane?
There are adults alive today who were born AFTER the creation of social media. Isn't that wild? I can't imagine what that's like.
I grew up with technology, so social media didn't really become a thing until I was in high school... so I can't imagine what it would like to be in elementary school and just have social media be a thing.
On a more real note, I don't know how parents will adapt to that. Like my folks didn't have to worry about me growing up with social media because I simply didn't. But if I have children, then that's something I'd have to consider.
Food for thought, I suppose.

I guess maybe this is a non-issue because people use Wiis and Wiis can connect to HD televisions, but then what happens when all of the Wiis break down?
I feel like at some point Nintendo will make the older Smash games available in some way, but then again, I'm not too sure about that. Like, they clearly have the technology to do so because I can play Super Mario Sunshine on the Switch right now if I wanted to, and they also have the Nintendo and Super Nintendo games on the Switch as well.
On a broader sense I'd love to see some older Gamecube and Nintendo 64 games make their way to modern platforms but it's hard to say what will happen as Nintendo has been drip feeding those games out and it doesn't seem like there's a strong desire to make everything available.
In some ways I can see why they wouldn't spend the extra effort to port some of these older titles over to more modern consoles, as they might think it wouldn't be worth the investment.
This is just speculation on my end, I can't pretend to know the business thinking of Nintendo.

So I was thinking about this the other day, but you know how I write down my "problems" here in the descriptions?
What would happen if I outed myself out as like... just an absolute menace to society? Like I talk about the problems I have that I think are "regular people problems" but are just problems that a sociopath has?
So like "Hey I'm really trying to figure out how I'd go to kid's birthday parties and then just flip the cakes over and smash them" and you guys would go "hoo boy Frudgey isn't playing with a full deck here."
I think realistically though, if I were to looking to smash as many children's birthday cakes as possible, then I'd have to have the kids come to me. Let me explain - if I get invited to a kid's birthday party and then smash a cake, then I'd be ousted as a weirdo (if not something worse) and I wouldn't get invited to any more birthday parties.
But say, if I just turned it into a business, like "Hey if you bring me a birthday cake on your birthday, I'll smash it while wearing a clown suit while reciting philosophy AND I'll pay the child $20 as a birthday gift" then that could work because that'd be part of the expectation so people wouldn't get upset if I smashed a birthday cake.
Then the parents could have another birthday cake that they give to their kids that I wouldn't smash. Again, I want to smash as many cakes as possible, but that might mean smashing less cakes in the short term so that I could end up smashing more cakes in the long term.
I also think I'd be running this business at a deficit, but if the goal was to "smash as many cakes as possible" then I don't think this is a problem. If the goal was "smash as many cakes as possible but also turn a profit", then that changes the dynamic I think.
Boy what a weird description. Like I know I normally do "out there" descriptions, but this was something crazy, even for me.

I also just feel like listing some other things I really like, in no particular order:
- Dogs
- Zombies
- Video Games (this could be it's own category, there's so much to talk about)
- Biking
- Food (I so very much love food...)
- Sleeping
- AND SO MUCH MORE
I didn't put movies on that list though because in general I don't watch a lot of movies. I do see them every now and then, but not often. I used to be a pretty big fan of the Marvel movies but I more or less "left the station" after Avengers Endgame.
I did see Spider-Man: No Way Home and the 2022 Batman movie (and thoroughly enjoyed both) but since that I don't think I've seen anything. Marvel movies in particular I just find myself... not caring anymore?
Maybe it's because I've gotten older, and maybe it's a bit because I feel like I've already seen some of those movies before. Hopefully that doesn't come off as cynical?
I do really like super heroes a lot though, I grew up with them. I should try to remember to talk more about that in a later description, but for now my top three favorite super heroes would be Spider-Man at number one, followed by The Incredible Hulk, and then I think Superman might be my third favorite... though there's competition for third place. Hulk and Spidey are firmly cemented in their spots though.
Okay that's all for me, I'm tired I need to get to bed. I'm up WAY too late writing this description!

It's one of those songs where, if you know you know, but if you don't know then you're probably thinking "Dear God what does Frudgey listen to?"
You think God would answer those kinds of prayers? Like if someone just asked, "Hey God, I'm really curious as to what kind of music Sam is listening to. Care to fill me in?"
And then God would be like, "Sure no problem champ I gotchu covered" but then God would come back and say "Sam is listening to music that is being played from an MP3 player" which would technically be accurate but missing the point altogether.
I don't know where I was going with this, I think I was trying to be funny but in retrospect I think it just reads weird? Ah whatever, I can just write a new description next time.

I feel like it's one of those urban legends where someone says that there was SOMEBODY who put water into their cereal, but when you ask who that person was nobody has an answer.
I'm not... entirely sure if anyone puts water in their cereal, though I'd bet that one of you puts orange juice in their cereal. That seems much more plausible.
The craziest thing I've done is put chocolate milk into cereal, but I think most of you would agree that that's actually a pretty baller move.
I think maybe more of you would agree that I've become more arrogant and cocky in my absence. Maybe this is where I can finally begin my emo phase.
Though are emos arrogant and cocky? I don't actually know.

Okay so I've always prided myself on writing these outlandish video descriptions where for some people, the descriptions of the videos are far more entertaining than the actual video itself.
I'm fine with that, as different strokes for different folks. I have a lot of fun writing these descriptions and I think it shows.
I'd probably say that through the ENTIRE Melee community, I probably have the most... unique video descriptions, and I take pride in that.
HOWEVER, I finally met my match - there's this channel called "ATHLEAN-X" and the guy is Hulk Smashing it in the video description department. Like, the man is writing up full paragraphs with nuanced fitness tips. There's actual, good knowledge in the descriptions of his video.
Me? I don't have that. I can't even resort to petty things like "Oh he might have better descriptions but I bet I could beat him up" because this guy would annihilate me in a fight. He also has more wealth and influence than I do, and he doesn't even know I exist!
I know the people of the Melee community love drama, but this is probably(?) the first time someone has started beef with someone else due to them writing out comprehensive video descriptions.
Anyways I'll think of something. Maybe I'll resort to writing Sonic Fan Fiction in the descriptions of my videos. That'll show him!

So okay I really thought about sneaking in a Metal Gear Revengeance meme in this video but then I thought about it and I felt like it wouldn't land with the Melee audience?
From my (limited?) experience I feel like the people who are hardcore into Melee (I feel like if you're watching a Melee highlight video you fall into this category) then you're less likely to be interested in "popular culture" memes.
Moreover, I'd say at this point the Revengeance memes have sort of come and gone? Like we're past peak popularity at this point. I think people would still understand them (like Thanos memes) but they're past their prime. But unlike older memes, it feels like if I did put a Revengeance meme in here it could be seen as me chasing trends and being "late to the party".
Whereas if I say... put in a Dark Knight meme, then it's pretty clear that I'm not chasing current trends but rather I'm just a fan of the Dark Knight.
My two cents on thoughts on memes.
I'll also quickly throw in here that I think the best DC movies are better than the best Marvel movies. I was going to call this a hot take but I'm not sure if this is a hot take - the best DC movies are really, really good in my opinion and I'm sure a number of you would agree.

I really hope someone sees the title of the video and then just takes issue with the fact that the commentators were talking about Samus in the context of "You just gotta be down to slug"
Someone should just write a scatching criticism about I'm "misinterpreting the facts" and that "slugs have always historically been a Samus issue" and that "Yoshi mains have no right to be involved with slugs"
You might be thinking, "okay but what would that comment even look like?" and here, I can help you out - this is what I would write if I were going to be mad about the Slug issue.
"You know, I remember the days when Frudgey used to stand for something. But now he comes back like nothing changed and then he starts f!@#$%^ talking about slugs like he wrote the book on it. Frudgey is a cheap hack who is deliberately misinterpreting the facts in order to suit his own narrative. He doesn't care about Melee - he never did. Gameplay clips, if I didn't record them myself, are credited in video in the bottom righthand corner of the screen.
Movie clips are, well, from the movies, though I got a lot of clips from the Movieclips YouTube channel. There are also a surprising amount of full videos on YouTube. It's a jungle out there.
This video is me going through the history of zombies in popular culture, and trying to pinpoint what inspired what, and so on and so forth. I think for the most part people have a general idea that it was George Romero who really inspired the modern zombie, but I for one was really surprised by how much the games (I.E., Resident Evil and The House of the Dead) had an impact on zombie popular culture.
Okay that's the boring standard description out of the way, time to write something outlandish. I was going to go on a tirade about keyword optimization in the description of YouTube videos, but then I realized that I didn't really have a tirade to go on. I just wanted to use the word "tirade". I don't think I've EVER gone on an angry rant in the descriptions of one of my videos.
I mean there's a first for everything, but as of right now I feel like it's unlikely to happen. I'm just not an angry person in general but I also don't know what I'd go get angry about. Certainly not YouTube Keyword optimization, I tell you what.
I feel compelled to state that part of the reason why this video took so long to come out is because I got bamboozled into playing the Mass Effect trilogy. I had fun with it, and I'd probably peg the trilogy overall as "good", but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to recommend it. I don't know if the original Mass Effect games have aged that well. This might be the hottest take I've ever had on this platform.
#Zombies #PopularCulture #ZombiesInPopularCulture
And furthermore, what kind of description would that have to be?
I could maybe see it being some sort of incendiary opinion that people would think "DANG THAT'S A HOT TAKE" and come back to... but I think it'd be more likely if the description was an absolute gut-buster in terms of comedy or if it was some sort of profound, sagely wisdom.
Speaking of wisdom, are there any sayings that I like?
Of course! There's a number of them, but this is one of the ones (not the only one mind you) that I really enjoy:
"Holding onto hatred is like drinking a poison and expecting the other person to die."
I could elaborate on my point further but I'm not going to. I will appreciate though that if someone searches onto YouTube, "Armada Sims" that this video will likely be the first result.
Is that an achievement? Hard to say. It amuses me at the very least, which is good enough for me!
And yet, I get the feeling that they're not super popular, you know? Like for me they're absolutely one of my favorite types of crackers but I could see a lot of people being like "yeah they're fine but I prefer something else" or even just not liking them at all.
Which of course is fine if you don't like them, I'm just saying that I really like them. Though, granted, I don't feel like I know of a lot of different types of crackers. I do like them though.
Someone is going to read this description and then just be sorely disappointed that I went on about crackers. They were probably hoping that I'd go hard on financial economics or something. Ah well, maybe next time.
Or is it just because "Power Metal" sounds cool? I think 'Power' as an adjective is underappreciated. Like I mean think about it - would you rather eat a sandwich or would you rather eat a power sandwich?
Personally I think that's a no brainer, I'd think that 100% of all people of ALL demographics would choose the power sandwich.
I can't think of a SINGLE situation where the 'Power' descriptor makes something worse.
You might be thinking, "Well yeah but what if someone hits you with a POWER punch? Wouldn't you want to just get hit by a regular punch?" but that's exactly my point! The POWER punch sounds mightier than the regular punch so ergo it'd hurt more!
I rest my case. I'm really confident that no one is going to fight me in the comments about this. And this isn't one of those things where I say something hoping that someone is going to do it ("Oh if I say no one is going to fight me on this then someone is going to fight me on this"), I genuinely think the people who read this are going to go "yeah I think I agree with this".
Anyways I've been having a lot of fun with Age of Empires IV haha.
I mean, outside of Artosis getting Mongol TC Rushed. I thought that was pretty funny.
But the question, "Does this mean you're going to do more Artosis highlight videos?" it's really going to depend on how this video does. I've really been itching to make more RTS content as RTS games are definitely my genre of choice, and this presented a good excuse to jump back into it.
I have a lot of thoughts about this, but I'll stuff them for now. For now, don't read too much into this video. It might be a one off, it might lead into something else. Who knows.
I've been doing a lot of experimentation with the channel lately, and while I'm much happier with the content I've been producing, I'm sure for the viewers it might be confusing and/or possibly frustrating. I've really been all over the place.
And while I don't think that's necessarily a 'good' thing for the channel, I think it's a good thing for me because this allows me to still have fun with this hobby of mine.
I think the worst thing that could happen is that I just burn myself out and I stop making videos altogether - and I don't want that because I want to be doing this for some time. Experimenting, at least for right now, is a lot of fun for me and I'm excited to keep making videos.
I feel like there was something else I wanted to say but I can't think of anything right now. I guess I'm like a dog chasing cars.
Alright I'm done ranting.
Whoops I mistyped that - I meant to write "horns on their helmets" but I honestly just wrote "helmets on their horns", and then I just almost typed "horns on their horns".
And I can see all of you right now just thinking, "Okay you didn't actually make any typos, you're just doing a bit right now so that you can ramble on in your description" - which like, I'll say that I'm telling the truth but I also realize that if I protest too much then I'll look suspicious.
Moreover, people are probably just thinking that I could proof read before publishing, but who'd do that? I'd argue that putting more typos in the descriptions would maybe encourage people to read more carefully.
I don't know where I'm going with this. Oh well.
I do not own the clips in the video! They're from here:
SWT NA East RF Winners Semis - iBDW (Fox) Vs. Polish (Peach) Smash Melee Tournament - (youtube.com/watch?v=KV8AEcm99Es)
SWT NA East Group C - Hungrybox (Jigglypuff) Vs. Polish (Peach) Smash Melee Tournament - (youtube.com/watch?v=l_YDVcJ8wPg)
SWT NA East RF Winners Finals - Polish (Peach) Vs. Zain (Marth) Smash Melee Tournament - (youtube.com/watch?v=i4uAlb3xWEY)
Okay but question though - have you guys met anyone who doesn't like to sleep? I feel like everyone can agree that sleeping owns, right?
Me personally I'm always super excited to sleep, I think sleep is awesome. Maybe it's an age thing, like the older you become the more you like to sleep?
I think sleeping feels really good though when you have to work for it. Like if you sleep whenever you want it just sort of loses it's meaning, you know? But being able to sleep in after a week of work? Incredible.
And yes I was tired when I wrote this description, how did you know?
Bizzarro Flame, Kage, Loki, Eikelmann, Chaddd, Dero, Dream, Eddie, Epic Murloc, Lafungo, Linguini, Magus, Mr. Brandandorf, NoFluxes, Prometheus, Qlex, RockCrock and Seigal.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Alright I wanna throw some shade here. You know who I want to throw under the bus?
My own flippin' body. I don't get it.
At like 7 pm my body is all like "Hey man you should go to bed because you're tired and everything" but I CAN'T go to bed because it's 7 pm! If I went to bed right at 7 then I'd be a wreck the next day because I'd wake up way too early!
But then when it's actually bedtime, my body is all like "Nah actually, sleep is for the weak. I'm staying up forever."
WHAT GIVES?
And now people reading this are going to be thinking, 'look at this nerd, complaining about not getting sleep when the rest of us have real problems to contend with'
And like, yeah. Compared to some other problems I could be having, this is very trivial in the grand scheme of things. But could you imagine if I talked about REAL issues here in the description?
Like imagine if you're watching this video about how much Ganondorf players make and then you go to read the description and I'm just going on about the disappearing middle class and the healthcare crisis known as the pandemic. I'm sure that'd be a barrel of monkeys and people would like that.
Actually, some of you guys might actually like that, ha. I don't know where I'm going with this. I thought I was going to have a better punchline with me 'talking' about the real issues, but now I'm just rambling.
Like honestly in my head there was a great zinger of a joke but now there's nothing. I guess I'll just stop typing then.
As mentioned in the video, these are all of the Ganondorf players I analyzed:
Bizzarro Flame, Kage, Loki, Eikelmann, Chaddd, Dero, Dream, Eddie, Epic Murloc, Lafungo, Linguini, Magus, Mr. Brandandorf, NoFluxes, Prometheus, Qlex, RockCrock and Seigal.
These were all of the players that I could find that mained Ganon and played exclusively Ganon in tournaments. I did take a look at the n0ne statistics I could find, but as mentioned in the video it was hard to find information on any tournaments that he played exclusively Ganon in.
I also didn't go too heavy into the data I collected as I wanted to make this video presentable - which means I didn't want to list off too many numbers. Maybe I should have gone a bit deeper though?
Any questions any of you have about the processes and methodologies I used feel free to ask. This video was more meant as a "trial" video more than anything else, so I'm very curious about the feedback I get.
I'm sure some of you are still hoping for a dumb description, eh? Well here we go:
# Dumb Description Time - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I was going to talk about movies casting characters of different skin color - the example I was thinking of in particular was in this upcoming Resident Evil movie they're casting Wesker as a black man, but in the games Wesker is basically as white you can get.
Some people really got upset about it and I was trying to figure out why.
This is also a really touchy subject I think for some so I debated NOT talking about it in the description, but I figured I may as well.
Anyways, I think context is important. If a person's race is important to the plot or characterization, then I think you have to consider carefully before changing it - but I think it could still work.
But in the case of something like Wesker being cast as someone as a different color, I don't really see the problem with that as Wesker's race was never really a part of his character, and in the greater context of the Resident Evil universe, racial identity isn't really a topic that comes up at all.
I think it'd be a bit different if Resident Evil was all about Colonial America or something, but again that's not what Resident Evil is about. And that's not to say that Resident Evil COULDN'T explore ideas like that, but I think that's a different can of worms.
Anyways, hopefully I didn't offend anyone as I'm just thinking aloud here. It was either write about this or write how I played Melee using an Xbox controller and I figured that this would be less controversial than playing Smash with that sort of controller.
Thanks for reading my ramblings.
For this video I was *this* close to putting in a jump scare, but luckily my friends talked me out of it. I was so wrapped up in whether or not I *could* put in a jump scare that I really didn't consider whether or not I *should* put in a jump scare.
So why didn't I put in a jump scare?
The short answer is because I don't think it fits the brand of the channel. It would be out of place.
The longer answer is that I really make an effort to make this channel friendly and approachable, and I think putting in a jump scare sort of flies in the face of that. I think some people could find the humor in a jump scare, but it'd be so far out of left field that I think it'd turn off a lot of people. Like consider how much of my audience is even into horror in the first place - it'd be a fraction of people at best.
I don't mind doing something like faking out the audience into thinking the video is buffering when really it isn't - to me that's more playful, whereas actively trying to spook you guys is a little more... "malicious" for lack of a better term.

I don't mean this from a perspective of "I don't think those lazy bums are doing anything all day", but rather from a perspective of "I literally don't know what they do all day."
Like I mean some of their day has to be them on set, but they're not filming 24/7, right? I could guess how they might spend their time but frankly I have no idea. I imagine they're quite busy though.
Sorry I don't have any strong punchline or anything for this, this is literally just me thinking aloud. I always find it interesting though to hear what people in other professions do in their day to day lives. Like do artists spend all of their time working on their next project?
I guess it just varies person to person.

But now, because there IS protein in there, that opens up a whole world of possibility. You in theory could stock up on Coke Zero and start peddling it at your local gym.
You could sell it as a "refreshing drink enhanced with protein" and then you could also market it with the tagline, "Now with 400% more protein!". Because if previously there was NO protein in those drinks, but now there is, then any increase in protein would be an infinite increase!
And this would all work because TECHNICALLY none of it would be a lie (okay maybe the 400% more protein would be) - it's not lying, it's marketing baby!
But needless to say, if someone needed like 42 grams of protein in their diet, they could get an equivalent amount by drinking 420 cans of Coke Zero. Not bad, huh?

I was really hoping that there was going to be more to that thought because I sat here for like 7 minutes trying to figure out what I wanted to type in the description. I've lamented this before, but you guys have made me care a lot more about what I write into the descriptions now than I used to.
Before I'd write a paragraph and call it a day but now if I don't write at least three paragraphs then I'm unsatisfied. Like English class must have done some serious damage to me back in high school or something because now I'm just holding myself to these standards.
Feels a little underhanded to blame English class though. English was never my favorite subject but I definitely respect it. I'd actually go as far to say that I think English (or just literacy in general) is one of the most important classes, period.
I think being able to read and write is underrated. Communication is key - if you can't communicate your ideas effectively then you're at a disadvantage. I don't know how we went from dogs pulling around CRTs to the value of English class, but that's just how it is I guess.

I hear so much about these "Netplay Falcos" that I was under the impression that Falco was supposed to be the bee's knees. Is that true? Are you all big fans of Falco? I'm fine with Spacies, but they're not as exciting to me as some other characters. (*cough* *cough* n0ne's Ganondorf)
Maybe it's people outside of the Melee community that think Fox is the best character? It's so hard to say. We're so lost in the weeds of Melee that I think we've forgotten or just don't know how outsiders see Melee.
I think the reason I have these thoughts as well is because I just don't play or think about Fox myself. Does that make me a bad person? I feel like the Fox mains don't come to my channel much haha.

I say 'correctly' because I tried to implement proper grammar. I like to think for the most part I do an okay job, but I promise you that if I hired an editor to proof read my descriptions they would be making changes.
I was going to go on about proper grammar but then I figured that no one wants to read that, so I'm shifting gears to ask some hard hitting questions -
How much money would someone have to pay you for you to be okay with the idea of a Tyrannosaurus Rex living in your state/province? In the same city as you?
For me, I don't think I'd accept any amount of money. Well, at least that's what I thought, as I figured it'd be too dangerous. But when I thought about the potential scientific breakthroughs, I started to reconsider.
Does this mean that Frudgey thinks that in some cases that human lives are worth scientific progress?
I'm going to avoid answering that question for now and just stop writing.
(In all seriousness though... it depends - context is everything. For now I'll say 'I don't know')

Like I care less about who is actually the most attractive (though I think people would care enough to click on a video about that), and I care more about, "how would I actually determine who is the most attractive looking"
I'd have to think more about it as right now I'm just writing up the description, but I think my first place to start would be to see how beauty magazines/websites determine who is the most beautiful man/woman and then see if I could apply a similar process to Smash.
Would a video like that need to be made? No, not necessarily. Do I think it could be good content? Possibly, depending on how I went about answering that question. I would also have to consider how such a video would be perceived - would that be an entertaining video or a creepy video? Both? Or would it depend on how it was executed?
Maybe I shouldn't have put some of my brain storming ideas down in the description of a video, but I'm too lazy to go back and come up with a new description.

And to that end, what will Melee content look like? Will there still be people on YouTube making Melee videos or will have people migrated to a different platform?
Obviously for all of these questions we can't answer them, but if we compare Melee in 2021 versus Melee in 2011, I feel like we've come a very, VERY long ways.
Isn't this year supposed to be the 20th anniversary of Melee or something?

Like for starters you don't get worked up about the trivial stuff anymore - you have a better understanding of what really matters so you care less about the things that don't.
I also feel like when I was younger I was a bit of a psychopath - whenever I think about childhood memories I usually think to myself "I did THAT? I was crazy!"
And sure when you get older your body hurts more and see the effects of age and so on and so forth. Though maybe I shouldn't be saying anything as I'm still pretty young (though I'm sure someone in high school would consider me ancient history ha)
I guess all I'm saying is that I feel like I'm closer to the person I want to be now than I was when I was younger, and that means something to me.
I dunno man, young Frudgey - not a bad kid but certainly did some stuff that old Frudgey didn't agree with.

So in the Melee community, I've always pronounced Toph's name as "Toe-pfff". I don't think many people will disagree with that.
BUT,
In Avatar the Last Airbender there's a character named "Toph" and yet the pronunciation was "Ta-pfff".
You know how confused I was when watching the show? I was expecting everyone to hail this character as "Toe-pfff" but then they all go around saying "Ta-pfff"!
And then I was further confused because IF Melee Toph got his username from the Avatar show, then why did the pronunciation change? Was that a conscious decision on his part or is that just something that happened?
I hereby put forth a petition to have Melee Toph's name to be changed to "Toephie".
I'm sure that'll go down well.
P. S. I don't actually have a bone to pick with him.
P. P. S. If someone held a gun to my head and asked who my favorite commentators were, I'd say Tastosis. Though saying this implies that they're only my favorite when someone holds a gun to my head hahaha.

"Or maybe I can talk about when you put too much butter on popcorn on your first date. That might be more fun."
And I figured that was a description that would be WAY more interesting so let's go with that.
So what WOULD happen if you went on a date and you put too much butter on the popcorn? I mean most of you are thinking "dude it's probably not that big of a deal" but have YOU ever had popcorn with too much butter on it? It's disgusting!
Your date would then begin to think of you as the "soggy popcorn" person, and that's just not a good think. How many times in history has "soggy popcorn enthusiast" EVER been a good title to have?
Like compare:
"Alexander the Great"
To
"Alexander the Soggy Popcorn Enthusiast"
And all of the sudden Alexander seems like a CHUMP. And we all know that Alexander wouldn't be someone who puts too much butter on popcorn on a first date!
So moral of the story is, if you're going on a first date then don't put too much butter on the popcorn.
"But Frudgey" you may ask, "What about the second date?"
I guess we'll have to talk about that in the next description!

Suppose you are a Melee player, and you had only ONE Gamecube controller.
Would it stand to reason that the controller is BOTH your favorite controller AND least favorite controller by virtue of there being only one controller? As in, out of logical necessity that one controller would have to be your favorite and least favorite?
OR is that all rubbish hogwash? How could someone have an item that is both their favorite AND least favorite? Isn't that mutually exclusive?

It had been awhile since I've seen seasons 1 and 2, but I remember liking them a fair bit. I just watched seasons 3 and 4 recently, and while I was entertained I don't know if they were necessary. Sometimes I was entertained for what I think were the "wrong" reasons -
That is, I think sometimes the show was trying to be serious but I ended up laughing at it. Not always of course, but it did happen in some parts.
I know I'm a little scant on details but I also don't want to spoil anything in case people hadn't seen it. Overall rating... 7/10? Something like that. Maybe that sounds sacrilegious considering how often I put Castlevania into the polls haha.
Apparently though the next season is going to take place during the FRENCH REVOLUTION, which that seems pretty neat and that actually encouraged me to pick up a history book about the French Revolution!
Right now I'm currently watching Avatar: The First Airbender for the first time and I'm enjoying it. Maybe I'll write my thoughts on that later haha.

He said he was pretty confident in his ability to do so - his reasoning being that he'd only have to do it once. He claims that he wouldn't have to go down, pick up the body again, bring it up to his apartment, and then do it all over again.
I told him "thank you for the inspiration to write this description" and he was worried that he would sound like a psychopath.
I think the thing is though, I think I'm going to sound like the crazy person here because I'm just casually talking about if I think someone could pick me up and throw me over the balcony, presumably killing me.
Which, I think on some level is at least a little... "strange" (if we're being charitable) and the more I think about this description the more I think I should maybe revise it so that maybe it doesn't sound psychotic, but I think I'm going to leave it as it is due to apathy.
I watch the subscription count after this video publishes - if it goes down then I'll figure out that people didn't like the description of the video, but if it goes up then I guess that means people are okay with the ides of me getting thrown off a balcony?

And that's that. It would have been great to regale you all with story of how, we had such an intense disagreement that my friend grabbed me by the neck and lifted me up and started to lecture me on the philosophy of art.
He would ask me, "could a urinal really be art?" (See Duchamp's Fountain) to which I would reply "Art is subjective."
He would scoff and then throw me over the patio, criticizing me for giving such a trite answer as I fall several hundred thousand miles.
Philosophers and Scholars would talk about this event for centuries to come, citing it as "The Folly of Frudgey".
But no that didn't happen. I'm just here typing out the description of the video. And yes Falcon is holding a bagged lunch if you were wondering.

Some of you may be thinking, "that's not late at all Frudgey"
To which I reply,
"I'm too tired to argue"
I have a bus to catch in like 6 and a half hours though, so I have to be awake for that ah ha ha ha.
Anyways how are you doing? I'm too tired to write a cohesive description. I really want to get this video done before going to bed, but I also know that I'm just mailing it in at this point. I was going to edit this particular video some more, but it was getting late and I grew weak.
This is the cost of passion, sometimes you'll stay up late to work on videos because you care.
I hope you all have a great sleep tonight. I love sleeping. It's a real slam dunk.
Alright I'm actually becoming an insane person and I've written enough words so I'm going to finish this description and then go to bed.
Goodnight!

Guess the Set:

But then it hit me - why bother whining about people not reading the description in the DESCRIPTION of the video? It's a futile task!
So instead I was going to talk about the inside baseball of my thought process of when I made the "guess the set" video and I used the Resident Evil 2 footage, but now I'm wondering if people care about the nitty gritty of that.
Me personally I love it when people talk about the behind the scenes of YouTube, though I think that makes sense because I myself make YouTube videos and I really like hearing the perspective of other YouTubers because I usually get some interesting insights.
And while I'm on that note, a friend and I were talking about listening to podcasts, and I like listening to podcasts where he's not really a big fan. But specifically, I really like the podcasts when people talk about YouTube.
I love talking about the platform (my friends can attest haha), but I don't have anyone to talk about the creator side of YouTube - or the least, I don't have anyone to talk to who ALSO makes videos on YouTube, and I think podcasts help scratch that itch for me.
Anyways thanks for reading about my ramblings.

I think that's a very loaded question and context is important for a lot of it, but sometimes I do wonder about that.
I'll be upfront as well - I think there can be a lot of incentive sometimes to not be entirely honest sometimes. Like even for me when I run this channel - while I like the idea of being honest I don't always say what I'm thinking.
And I don't think that's always a bad thing - sometimes we should keep opinions to ourselves. But then sometimes we say what we think others want to hear, and we just want to be liked by the public.
I don't think these are any earth shattering revelations either, I'm sure everything I've said people will read and go, "yeah that makes sense."
Me personally I've seen people on a public platform who I'd consider to be "honest and sincere" (even though I don't know these people) and then many others who are "wearing a mask" so to speak.
For the most part I try to behave on the channel how I'd behave in real life, with the biggest difference being that some things I don't talk about on the channel as it'd invite unwanted attention (Like politics, religion, etc, but even then I think I've talked about some of those issues before). Whether or not I succeed at doing this though is going to be largely up to interpretation I think.

I get that people don't always consume media for the characters - like I know that all of you Melee nerds aren't playing Melee for the characterization haha. But I would imagine that good characterization never hurt anyone.
And this isn't me being like "oh how come we don't see great characterization always?"
You know why I don't think we always see great characterization?
Because writing is flippin' hard, dang it! If someone told me to write a well written character I don't think I could do it. I think even if you have several thousands of hours of writing under your belt, you still may not be able to write good characters.
Obviously what constitutes good writing is going to be very subjective, but even then it sounds like a daunting task. Surely I'm not crazy for thinking this?
I hope I don't sound pretentious. As I read more I've been thinking more about writing in general and I think it's a gift if you can write well. I think it's easier said than done, but I think that's true for most things. Like playing high level Melee, for example!

What if you had a fan club of people who like fans - what would you call it?
If you call it "the fan club" I don't think people would know what you're talking about. Would they ask what kind of fan club you are?
I feel like the logical name would be the "fan fan club". It sounds a little weird but I think people would be able to make sense of that pretty easily. Or maybe it could be taken deeper and people would think that you're a bunch of fans of people who are fans.
Like if we had a... I dunno... Resident Evil fan club, and we had another fan club of the Resident Evil fan club, then you could have a "fan fan club" of Resident Evil!
Really I think the crux of this issue comes from the fact that when you say "fan" you could be talking about either a fan that blows air, or a human who is a fan of something.
It just occurred to me that I never specified what kind of fan I was talking about in the first place, so I rest my case.

So anyways, I've always wanted to "learn" a fighting game but have never done so. So when Guilty Gear Strive came out, I decided that I was going to bite the bullet and learn how to play.
And so far, it's been very fun!
I think the most rewarding experience I had was that I spent a fair bit of time learning how to throw fire balls correctly (again, I struggle with the execution part of fighting games!) and I could see myself getting better at throwing them.
I had a match where I won because I was able to throw out fireballs when I wanted to and man the high I got from that was fantastic. Having my work pay off was just, well, it's why I love playing competitive games, whether it be fighting games or RTS. I know some of you are scoffing about me being proud about being able to get the fireball motion down, but hey I had to work for it!
I know some of you are probably thinking, "Okay why aren't you playing Melee you filthy casual? It's got everything you were just talking about"
And like, yeah. I think you're right. To answer your question though, I dunno! Maybe I'll get there eventually. I feel like I just betrayed a number of you by confessing that I don't play Melee haha.
If my subscription count goes down after this video I'll know why hahaha.

I also happen to really like Dungeons and Dragons.
But you know something that I really like about Dungeons and Dragons?
The fact that it constantly bamboozles people into doing Mathematics. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone claim that they're "really bad at Math" but then just go ahead and do all of the arithmetic in D&D without batting an eye.
It's great! It's like Dungeons and Dragons is the gateway drug into simple Mathematics and people don't realize it!
I guess the moral here is that you can get a lot of people to "commit Math" if you dress it up in such a way that so that it doesn't look like Math.
And then there are those clowns who do Math for fun!
What a world.

How many of you like rooting AGAINST someone (or some team or whatever) in anything competitive?
I know for me personally I don't really root against anyone, I more just cheer for someone - or I just want to see some good games played.
But I think some people really like having a villain in the scene and rooting against them, so then they lose (or maybe sometimes win?) it adds the storyline. I also know that people really, REALLY care about the storylines and rivalries that can occur in competition.
I can appreciate that stuff, but my interest lies in other places - like figuring out what kind of videos I want to make on the YouTube platform. Different strokes for different folks I guess?
I think I just hit the point where I'm rambling now. This is the fifth description I wrote today so I think my mind got a bit muddled. Oh well. It happens. I know I should stop typing right now and yet I continue to do so because I feel like I should be adding more to the description.

I took a course in university that dealt with imaginary numbers, and if you don't know what imaginary numbers are, here's a good introductory link:
mathsisfun.com/numbers/imaginary-numbers.html
And at first when I started to learn about imaginary numbers, I was like "surely this is just a 'cute' thing and there are no practical applications for this, right?"
Well, as it turns out, as somethings as "outlandish" as imaginary numbers actually has real world applications, which I think is so cool. In university, I remember the course was about doing calculus with imaginary numbers, and for one example the professor showed us, it was easier to solve a Calculus problem with imaginary numbers than it was with Real numbers.
Cool, right? The link I posed has more examples of real world applications of imaginary numbers, if you're interested.
Also fun fact: In the imaginary numbers class I took, I had the professor complain to me that my writing was "too light" and hard to read on the paper!
If any of you have any FUN imaginary number facts, I'd love to hear them!

Like I think for the most part actors and actresses have to endorse what they're a part of - that's just marketing - but surely some of them go home sometimes and just get bummed out about what they're working on and then have crippling self doubt issues, right?
This isn't a dig at them either - this is me genuinely being curious.
I don't recall seeing an interview (granted, I hardly ever watch celebrity interviews) where a famous person said something along the lines of "This movie/show I worked on was utter garbage", though now that I say that I'm SURE it must have happened at some point, right?
I guess at the end of the day celebrities would be people as well, so everything I asked about I'm sure has happened at some point. The reverse must have happened as well, where a celebrity thinks "yeah what I worked on was AWESOME!"
There are some other thoughts I have about this, but I'll stuff it for now.

Headbutts.
You see them in media all of the time, but I feel like headbutts have to be a very sub optimal attack. Isn't the head supposed to be super fragile? Like I vaguely remember the human skull being the thickest bone in the human body, but even if that were the case wouldn't you be at risk of giving yourself a concussion or something?
I could see a headbutt as a last resort option where you just don't have any other options, but I feel like a headbutt is a pretty bad attack.
At the very least I wouldn't use a headbutt as a combo starter if I were to attack someone. Yet the media we consume would lead you to believe that headbutts are viable!
I didn't fact check any of my thoughts, so if any of you know the TRUTH behind headbutts, then please let me know. It's always puzzled me.
