Manoil Lead Toy Doughboy Soldier Sitting At Desk With Telephone And Map MichaelTheResearcher 2021-05-28 | The lead toy soldier that you see here was manufactured by the Manoil Company. This is definitely not what most would consider when they hear the name toy solider. It is certainly unique as he is sitting at a desk with a telephone and a map. The Manoil company began producing these lead soldiers in 1935, and production of these toy soldiers ceased in 1942 ... a World War Two-related end to the production. The Manoil Company name can be seen on the reverse. I also see a "2" on the reverse - very peculiar because the catalog designations that I have encountered are 55 and 85. You will note the buttons on the uniform. This is a button variation for this model. There was also a non-button variation. You will also note the Doughboy helmet. Coincidentally, 2021 marks the ten year anniversary of the passing of Frank Woodruff Buckles, America's Last Surviving Veteran of World War One. The ten year anniversary of the passing of The Last Of The Doughboys, and a representation of the Doughboys right here in the year 2021. That was one full decade ago, and in honor of the ten year anniversary, I am back with another review from the M.A.R.S. Converters toy line. This figure was difficult to acquire. I finally found it in 2015, and I stumbled upon it by chance. As you will see in this video, the toy is junk ... a mess and a disaster. It keeps falling apart, and the head is stuck. I Found A Turtle On May 23, 2020 MichaelTheResearcher 2020-08-25 | This video is from May 23, 2020. I was training my upper back, specifically doing bent over rows, in the driveway when I saw a turtle on its side. How did it get there? Did a bird have the turtle inside of its beak and dropped it? In any event, I took him or her to a local creek. You can see that the turtle has difficulty moving. I am not sure if the turtle had developmental issues or if the turtle sustained a major injury prior to my discovery. I placed the turtle near the edge of the water. I wanted the turtle to decide whether to go into the water. After a few minutes, the turtle jumped into the water (of course, while I was not filming). Primus Halls House Report 820 For His Revolutionary War Pension Dated January 7, 1837 MichaelTheResearcher 2019-02-23 | Hello. This is Michael - Michael The Researcher observing Black History Month. Today is February 22, 2019. As many of you know, February 22 is George Washington's date of birth. Tonight, I am going to tell you about someone who was in George Washington's Continental Army. His name is Primus Hall. I hold in my hands, an original document from the year 1837. It is a House Report from the Committee On Revolutionary Pensions during the Second Session of the Twenty-fourth Congress dated January 7, 1837. You will note "man of color" in the text. Primus Hall was a Black Revolutionary War Veteran and this House Report details his petition requesting a pension for his time in the military. He was with George Washington in Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey. Primus Hall was granted the pension in the following year. A big salute to Primus Hall for his service in the Military and his participation in the War For American Independence. He was also involved in the War Of 1812. February is Black History Month and February 22 is George Washington's Birthday. This document effortlessly fits in with both events. I am going to bring this document to Trenton, New Jersey tomorrow. The Old Barracks Museum will be hosting the Four Centuries Of African American Soldiers exhibit. It powered on right away and the ten games that we had all worked very well. Here is one of them - Duck Hunt. I am vegan so I never play the duck version - I only shoot the clay plates. Over the years, I played the Atari and never the Nintendo. The neglect did not harm it in any way. After not being turned on in more than twenty years, it is still going strong. Yesterday and this morning, I played it for many hours and that area comprising the thumb and palm hurt so badly that I had to stop. I certainly do not miss the pain caused by these video games.The NES is played on a Toshiba television set Model 14AF45 (December 2005). A Visit To The Grave Of Frank Woodruff Buckles On The Fifth Anniversary Of His Passing MichaelTheResearcher 2016-02-28 | Frank Woodruff Buckles, America's Last Surviving Veteran Of World War I, passed away five years ago today on February 27, 2011. He is, without question, one of the most important figures in this nation's history. On this, the Fifth Anniversary of his passing, I visited his grave at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia so I could commemorate the occasion. The song was recorded in 1919 and the Diamond Disc record is a second pressing from 1923 or 1924 (Catalog number: 51210-L and Matrix number: 6632). I am going to play the record on an Edison Disc Phonograph Model C-150 that was manufactured some time between 1915 and 1919.You will note the red star on the label. I bought this very machine at the Autumn 2014 Mechanical Music Extravaganza last October. Abraham Lincoln And George Washington Apotheosis CDV In Honor Of Lincolns Sesquicentennial Passing MichaelTheResearcher 2015-04-16 | It is April 15, 2015 and today is the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's passing. The previous day he was shot by John Wilkes Booth in Ford's Theater. I have a relevant artifact for this particular sesquicentennial moment. It is this very curious CDV image.It is titled Washington And Lincoln Apotheosis. Apotheosis is the state of elevation or deification. In the image you see the recently-deceased Lincoln being embraced by George Washington and you see the angels in the top left corner. This was painted in 1865 and this CDV image is from the 1860s or, perhaps, 1870s. I then went out, and did not return home until April 11, 2015. Here it is one day late ...It is April 10, 2015 and this video pertains to the American Civil War Sesquicentennial. On this day 150 years ago, President Abraham Lincoln addressed an audience in front of the White House. He informed the crowd of the previous day's surrender at Appomattox Court House, and requested that the musicians in attendance perform "Dixie". "Dixie" was a song written prior to the conflict, and was popular throughout the United States Of America. Tonight I have for you a version of "Dixie" performed by the Edison Symphony Orchestra. The record was pressed on the Edison label (Catalog number 9541), and was released in 1907. It is possible that the song was recorded in 1906. I am going to play the record on an Edison Standard Phonograph Model B.
