In this mini Bible study, I explain the purpose and importance of the Old Testament and why understanding covenantal context is essential for interpreting Scripture correctly. Although the four Gospels are located in the New Testament, much of what they record occurred before Jesus established the New Covenant through His death and resurrection. Understanding that transition helps us distinguish between what was required under the Mosaic Covenant and what applies to believers under the New Covenant.
I also examine two commonly misunderstood subjects:
“Touch not My anointed” in Psalm 105. We read the passage in context and see that its emphasis is not on protecting modern ministers from biblical correction. The emphasis is on God’s faithfulness, protection, and covenant purposes. Scripture should direct our attention to God and ultimately to Christ.
Tithing. The Old Testament tithe belonged to Israel’s covenant system and is not commanded as the standard for New Covenant believers. Christians are called to give generously, willingly, and cheerfully, not through fear, manipulation, or condemnation. When tithing is taught as a requirement for receiving God’s blessing or avoiding a curse, it can contradict the grace and freedom of the New Covenant.
The Old Testament is not irrelevant, but it must be understood according to its purpose and read in light of Jesus Christ.
Scriptures discussed include Psalm 105, the Old Testament tithing laws, and New Testament teaching concerning the New Covenant and Christian giving.

youtu.be/nbW3avTBK1g?si=BaMuDUqZAMn8hrSEExplaining How OCD Puts the Emphasis on the Wrong Thing: Your FaithTheology Talks With Tabitha2026-04-04 | Religious OCD (scrupulosity) often shifts your focus to the wrong thing. Instead of trusting Christ, you end up examining your faith—analyzing it, questioning it, trying to measure if it’s “real enough,” “strong enough,” or “right enough.” But that’s not what faith is. Faith is not sitting there staring at the chair, wondering if it will hold you. Faith is actually sitting down. It’s not about the strength of your faith— it’s about the strength of the One you’re trusting. In this video, I talk about: How OCD distorts faith by turning it inward Why constant self-examination keeps you stuck The difference between analyzing faith vs. actually trusting What it looks like to rest in Christ instead of striving If you struggle with religious OCD, this is meant to bring clarity, not more pressure.Religious OCD and Easter: A Message of EncouragementTheology Talks With Tabitha2026-04-03 | ...OCD and our relationship with sin #question and #answerTheology Talks With Tabitha2026-04-01 | ...2 Key Shifts to Help Overcome Religious OCDTheology Talks With Tabitha2026-03-31 | ...Walking Out Faith With Religious OCDTheology Talks With Tabitha2026-03-27 | ...Misconceptions About (Religious) OCD that Keep You StuckTheology Talks With Tabitha2026-03-23 | If you’re struggling with OCD—especially intrusive thoughts—you may feel like you’re fighting a battle inside your own mind all day long. And a lot of that struggle isn’t just the thoughts themselves… it’s what you’ve been told those thoughts mean. In this video, I’m breaking down some of the most common misconceptions that actually keep people trapped in OCD: • That you can (or should) control your thoughts • That your thoughts come from you and define you • That God is angry with you because of your thoughts • That God won’t forgive you for having certain thoughts • That your thoughts reveal something about your character • That if you don’t fight or argue with them, you must agree with them None of these are true—and believing them will keep you stuck in the cycle. OCD feeds off fear, responsibility, and meaning. But intrusive thoughts are not a reflection of your heart—they’re a symptom. Learning how to respond to them differently is where freedom begins. If you’ve been exhausted from trying to “fix” your mind, I want you to know: you’re not alone, and there is a way out of this cycleOCD and Faith: Who Is Actually Holding Who?Theology Talks With Tabitha2026-03-17 | I had this picture in my mind during one of the hardest seasons of my OCD.
I saw myself clinging to God’s finger… crying, terrified, holding on as tight as I could — believing that if I let go, I would fall. But what I didn’t realize was this:
I was never hanging from His finger.
I was in His hand the whole time.
In this video, I break down:
The difference between feeling like you're holding on vs. actually being held
How OCD convinces you that your safety depends on your effort
Why “letting go” feels like danger — but is actually where freedom begins
The truth about God’s grip vs. your grip This was a turning point for me, not just spiritually, but in my OCD recovery.
If you’ve ever felt like you have to hold everything together — your faith, your thoughts, your control — this is for you.
You are not being held together by your grip.
You are being held.A Few of the Revelations That Lead to My RELIGIOUS OCD Recovery and Their Key ThemeTheology Talks With Tabitha2026-03-09 | In this video, I share the key revelations that helped lead me into recovery from OCD and scrupulosity. None of them were techniques or quick fixes. They were shifts in how I understood control, faith, and who God actually is. For a long time, OCD kept me trapped in fear of the future—constantly asking “What if?” and trying to force certainty about things I could never control. But God began teaching me something deeper: recovery wasn’t about figuring everything out… it was about surrender. Some of the truths that changed everything for me: • Stop fearing the future. I don’t know what tomorrow holds, but I know the One who does. When OCD tries to drag me into hypothetical fears, I refuse to go there. • God is the One doing the work. He is the Potter, the Vine Dresser, and the Refiner. My job isn’t to control the process—it’s to trust the One who is shaping me. • Surrender sometimes looks like letting go when you’re exhausted. There came a moment where I simply couldn’t fight anymore. I had to jump off the cliff and trust that God would make a way. • Trying to “figure out what God is doing” can become reassurance. I realized I was trying to manage my fear by understanding God’s plan. But if I could fully figure Him out, He wouldn’t be a very big God. The thread running through every one of these revelations was this: My inability and God’s sufficiency. Recovery began when I stopped trying to control the process and started trusting God’s character. If you’re struggling with OCD, scrupulosity, or constant fear about the future, I hope this encourages you. Faith isn’t certainty about everything. Faith is trusting the One who holds everything.

Most people pray for God to just take them away. I know I did. But looking back now that the fog of OCD has lifted, I’m actually grateful that God didn’t simply snap His fingers and remove the thoughts. If He had, I would have never learned what He was teaching me through them. Through OCD, God taught me things that instant deliverance never could have taught: • That intrusive thoughts are not who I am • That thoughts themselves are not sin • That fear loses power when you stop obeying it • That faith is not a feeling — it’s trusting God even when your mind is screaming OCD makes you feel like a helpless victim of your mind. But you’re not helpless. You can learn how OCD works, you can learn to resist the compulsions, and you can learn to live in uncertainty while trusting God. And in the process, something incredible happens: Your faith becomes stronger, not weaker. God’s faithfulness becomes real in a way it never would have if the struggle had simply disappeared. If God had taken my intrusive thoughts away instantly, I would have missed the deeper work He was doing in me. What felt like suffering at the time ended up becoming one of the greatest blessings of my life.Demystifying the Armor of GodTheology Talks With Tabitha2026-03-06 | ...What to do when Scrupulosity sends an intrusive thought discussionTheology Talks With Tabitha2026-03-05 | ...OCD vs Cult Leaders - The Disturbing ParallelsTheology Talks With Tabitha2026-03-03 | What if OCD isn’t just anxiety… What if it operates like a cult leader?
In this video, I break down how obsessive-compulsive disorder uses manipulation, fear, control, and false urgency to keep you trapped in its system. OCD doesn’t just suggest thoughts — it demands obedience. It isolates you. It tells you disaster will happen if you don’t comply. It promises safety, but only if you follow its rules.
Sound familiar?
We’re going to expose:
• How OCD isolates you from truth and peace • The illusion of control it offers • And how breaking the agreement with it is the first step to freedom
OCD is loud. It feels urgent. It feels convincing.
But it is not your authority.
Freedom begins when you recognize the tactics — and stop submitting to them. Why Youre Still Stuck In OCD (The Real Reason)Theology Talks With Tabitha2026-02-17 | Happy Monday, everyone! Overprescription is a real issue. Misuse is a real issue.
But abusing a treatment doesn’t erase its legitimate, life-saving purpose. We don’t say insulin isn’t real because it’s sometimes misused. We don’t say pain medication has no place because it can be abused.
The conversation needs nuance, not extremes. Some people don’t need psychiatric medication. Some people absolutely do. Both can be true at the same time.Mental Illness Isnt Weakness | A Christian PerspectiveTheology Talks With Tabitha2026-02-10 | Let's talk about the important intersection of Christianity and mental health.

#faith #Jesus #scrupulosity #religiousocdJesus Calms the Storm | What This Miracle Really Teaches UsTheology Talks With Tabitha2026-01-17 | The disciples weren’t afraid because Jesus couldn’t calm the storm — they were afraid because they didn’t yet trust that Jesus would get them to the other side, with the storm raging.
In this passage, Jesus doesn’t rebuke them for noticing the storm. He confronts their lack of faith in His presence, His promise, and His purpose.
This has powerful implications for OCD and anxiety.
OCD trains the mind to believe that certainty, control, or the removal of distress is what keeps us safe. It whispers that peace only comes once the storm is silenced — once the thoughts stop, the feelings settle, or the environment becomes predictable.
But Jesus teaches something radically different.
Faith was never about whether the storm would stop. Faith was about believing that if Jesus is in the boat, the destination is guaranteed — even while the waves crash and fear screams otherwise.
The storm exposes where trust is placed: • In controlling the outcome • Or in trusting the One who already spoke the outcome
For those walking with OCD, this passage reveals a deeper truth: You don’t need perfect calm to move forward in obedience. You don’t need certainty to be carried by Christ.
This video explores how Jesus meets us in the storm — not after it — and how faith learns to rest in His word rather than react to fear-driven demands for control.
The storm does not determine the outcome. Jesus does.
🕊️ Faith is not the absence of intrusive thoughts — it’s trusting Jesus despite them. 🕊️ You can be afraid and still be carried. 🕊️ If He said “Let us go to the other side,” then the other side is already settled.Faith, Not Fear: The Truth About Abraham, Isaac, and Religious OCDTheology Talks With Tabitha2026-01-08 | Religious OCD often tells us that God is a harsh taskmaster—always demanding that we give up the things we love most to prove our faith. Many people point to the story of Abraham and Isaac as “proof” of this fear.
But that’s not what this story is actually about.
In this video, I talk about how OCD distorts the character of God and turns faith into fear. The story of Abraham and Isaac was never about God wanting sacrifice—it was about who God is, who provides, and what faith really means.
God was not testing Abraham’s willingness to lose what he loved. He was revealing that He is not like the false gods who demand child sacrifice—and that He alone is trustworthy.
If you’ve ever felt like God is waiting to take something from you, this video is for you. Faith is not driven by terror. Love is not proven by loss. And God does not manipulate His children through fear.

The enemy stands outside the city walls—loud, mocking, threatening, and relentless. And God gives a surprising command:
“Do not answer him.”
In this video, I draw a powerful parallel between Hezekiah’s battle and the daily battle many people face with OCD and intrusive thoughts.
OCD often behaves like the Rabshakeh— • Loud • Accusatory • Repetitive • Confident • Demanding a response
But just like Hezekiah, victory doesn’t come from arguing, reasoning, or defending yourself. It comes from refusing to engage the voice and bringing the fear to God instead.
In this teaching, we’ll explore: • Why OCD feels so authoritative and convincing • Why responding to intrusive thoughts strengthens them • What “holy silence” looks like in practice • How God fights battles we stop trying to win ourselves • Why trust—not reassurance—is the turning point
This video is especially for those who: • Struggle with religious scrupulosity • Feel tormented by intrusive thoughts • Are exhausted from mental battles • Love Scripture but feel attacked through it • Need permission to stop answering the voice
If you’ve ever felt like the enemy is shouting in your mind and demanding certainty, this message is for you.

So many people grow up hearing mixed messages about salvation. Some say you must “clean up your life,” “prove yourself,” or “do your part” before God will accept you. But the Bible gives a far more straightforward, far more beautiful truth:
We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
In this video, we walk through Scripture to understand the true gospel from start to finish:
why we need salvation
what Jesus actually accomplished
what eternal life really is
why repentance is a work of the Holy Spirit, not a precondition
why transformation is the fruit of salvation—not the cause
why even a mustard seed of faith saves
how the thief on the cross reveals the simplicity of the gospel
and why Jesus does the saving, the keeping, and the transforming
This teaching is built entirely on the Word of God—not tradition, not performance, not self-effort. If you’ve ever struggled with scrupulosity, legalism, fear of “not being good enough,” or the pressure to earn God’s approval, this message will bring clarity, freedom, and peace.

For the first time, I was able to read Hebrews without spiraling, and it opened my eyes to what the early Jewish believers were facing. Their struggle between the Law and the Gospel mirrors the internal battle of Scrupulosity in a profound way:
Fear vs. Faith
Law vs. Liberty
Striving vs. Rest
Pressure vs. Grace
Just like the Jews who felt terrified to step away from the Law, people with Scrupulosity feel controlled by fear—fear of doing something wrong, being “lost,” or disappointing God. But Hebrews shows us the truth: We are not saved by our performance. We are saved by Christ’s finished work.
In this video I talk about: ✨ How Scrupulosity creates a “Law mentality” ✨ Why the early Jewish Christians faced the same kind of pressure ✨ What “labor to enter His rest” really means ✨ Why focusing on sin keeps us bound—but focusing on Jesus sets us free ✨ How Christ truly makes us free indeed
If you struggle with religious OCD, fear of sin, fear of losing salvation, or feeling like God is always displeased with you… this message is for you. There is freedom in Christ. There is rest in Him. And His grace is stronger than your fear.

David understood something so many of us forget: he was intimately known by the Creator of the universe.
God knew David’s thoughts, his fears, his failures, and his deepest places… and He loved him still. And the same is true for you.
No matter where you are, no matter how dark it feels, your darkness is not dark to Him. You cannot outrun His presence. You cannot fall out of His care. You cannot be hidden from His love.

My goal is to help you see Jesus clearly through the lens of grace, not fear.
📖 What We Cover in This Study:
0:00–1:22 — Intro & Resources I share my new David Guzik Study Bible and why I highly recommend the free Enduring Word commentary. If reading the Bible feels intimidating or triggering, these tools can help bring clarity, calm, and context.
1:22–3:03 — How to Read Scripture with Scrupulosity I talk about approaching the New Testament with a gentle, grace-filled mindset—no pressure, no “must feel something,” no compulsions. Just a simple prayer and a willingness to let God speak when and how He chooses.
3:35–5:01 — Reading Philippians 1:21-30 (NKJV) We read Paul’s words about desiring to be with Christ (which is “far better”) and his calling to remain for the sake of others. We also look at Paul’s call to “stand fast in one spirit” and to live a life worthy of the gospel.
5:19–8:10 — Context: What Is the Gospel? Why Is Paul Writing This? I explain the background of Philippians—written to Gentile believers facing persecution for not keeping the law—and unpack the true gospel: salvation through Christ alone, not through works, rituals, or performance. We look at Paul’s transformation from a strict Pharisee to someone who considered all his works “dung” compared to knowing Christ.
8:11–11:05 — Understanding Salvation & God’s Character If OCD has ever made Jesus feel scary, this part is for you. I explain why salvation rests on God’s nature, not ours. Our righteousness is not something we earn—it’s something Jesus gives.
11:06–13:58 — What It Means to “Suffer for Christ’s Sake” This phrase can be very triggering for those with religious OCD, so I break it down gently and biblically. Suffering for Christ isn’t about misery—it’s about God using hard things for redemptive, meaningful purposes, like the cross and the story of Lazarus.
14:07–14:47 — Closing Prayer I end by praying that you would know God as He truly is—not as OCD paints Him—and that His love would give you strength, boldness, and grounding when fears arise.OCD: Labor to Enter His Rest (Jump Off a Cliff!)Theology Talks With Tabitha2025-11-19 | ...
