1860 Henry Transitional Rifle (Modified 1866) Ethan Harty 2024-01-11 | Here I share some information about why and how I took an 1866 Winchester, and modified it into a rifle that resembles a Transitional Henry, or a prototype 1866 (according to the patent). The main difference between this and a normal 1860 Henry is the loading gate. This particular rifle was made by Uberti, and chambered in 38-40.

Harty Locomotive Works Shop Tour (Apr. 6 2023) Ethan Harty 2023-04-07 | Welcome to this video update of all the new and exciting things in the blacksmith shop. I’m very thankful for how far this new shop has come. Praise God for his kindness in providing for me a shop that is functional and nice to work in with lots of space.Speaking of space, one thing that I forgot to mention in the tour is that since the last video a partition wall has been put up in the shop. I’m referring to the tin-clad wall nearest the truck and the tractor. The total square footage of the building I am in is 5400 ft.². The partition wall brings the blacksmith shop portion of the building to 3240. The reason I put the wall in was because I figured that it was all the space I really needed especially since it included one of the bay doors. It saves on having to finish and then heat the entire shop. The other side is currently cold storage and I think it’s an efficient way of splitting up the building.www.ethanharty.com

First, the farmstead that we bought has been in Emily’s family for four generations now, and our baby that’s on the way will make five generations! That’s a pretty exciting thing for us; we’re very thankful that we had the opportunity to purchase such a nice place and keep it in the family. Next, I wanted to thank my mom, dad, and wife (Emily) for all the help they’ve given me to move my shop, along with Emily’s mom and dad for loaning us the equipment to move both my shop and our house. Emily’s parents used to live on this farm, so you can still see some of their stuff in the shop (at the time of recording) and around about as we are all still in the process of moving!We are now located North of a little town called Lougheed in Alberta, Canada… Nice and secluded, as we like it 😋.The music in the later part of the video is from my album “Touchmark”. Forging a Steam Locomotive Part: Lever double-eye Ethan Harty 2021-06-30 | The lever double-eye is a project out of an old Blacksmithing book called “Blacksmiths Manual Illustrated”. It was written by a fellow who used to work in a locomotive shop, and most of the projects in the book are locomotive parts, and require steam hammers to forge them full scale. This is just a scaled down version, and it’s a really good forging exercise! I’d recommend if you’re looking to up your forging game, to try out this project, it’s harder than it looks!
