“Imagine a boot trampling on a face. That boot is social media today,” says Ferdinand von Schirach. In his video message, the writer and lawyer is very critical of Twitter, TikTok and Telegram.
On October 7th, 2023, Hamas terrorists carried out horrific attacks on Israel, yet many deny the atrocities that took place. Orwell's 1984 predicted this kind of manipulation—where truth is twisted and reality reshaped. Just as in Orwell’s world, facts are erased or rewritten. Despite overwhelming evidence of violence, misinformation spreads, especially on social media, where lies can overshadow the truth. The denial of Hamas’s crimes reflects Orwell’s vision, where controlling the narrative becomes more powerful than the facts themselves. Are we living in a time when truth is no longer enough?

In a Swabian chocolate factory, the production of chocolate Santas starts at the beginning of October. Ulf Baum and Christopher Klett, senior and junior managers of the company, explain that the design of the Santas has become friendlier and more colorful over the years.
The production includes Santas in different shapes and sizes, using milk, dark and white chocolate. These types of chocolate are delivered in liquid form and stored in large tanks. Particular attention is paid to the quality and “make-up” of the figures to emphasize details such as eyes, beard and belt buckle. Make-up is even applied by hand for custom-made products.
An interesting detail is the production of the hollow chocolate figures, which is achieved by a special process in which the chocolate is distributed in molds and shaken. Despite the early production from April, mainly for overseas customers, the bosses emphasize that chocolate can be enjoyed at any time of year. Preferences for eating the chocolate Santas vary, with some preferring the head and others the foot.

Roland Sandkuhl has been a train driver for over 30 years, but it was only a year ago that he fulfilled his dream and started driving his own locomotive. This red beauty is not only his pride and joy but also a symbol of his courage and willingness to take risks. He is one of the few self-employed train drivers in Germany and is always available when extra manpower is needed.
Self-employed with His Own Locomotive
Roland Sandkuhl is one of only five self-employed train drivers in Germany. With his own locomotive, he takes on assignments that lead him across the entire country. Whether it's transporting sleepers to Lower Saxony or empty wagons to Bremen, Sandkuhl is always on duty.
A Passion Since Childhood
His love for trains began in childhood. As a boy, he would spend hours watching the large locomotives and was often invited by train drivers to ride along. These experiences shaped his career aspiration and made him the enthusiastic and experienced train driver he is today.
Challenges on the Track
Although the daily routine as a train driver may sometimes seem monotonous, there are always special challenges. Recently, Sandkuhl had to stop at a level crossing and use a special key to ensure the crossing remained closed until he passed through.
Technology and Practical Solutions
Roland Sandkuhl not only bought his locomotive but also equipped it himself. This includes a workbench in the engine room and a camping toilet for long journeys. To finance his dream, he took out a large loan and invested almost a million euros.
A Glimpse Behind the Scenes
A special insight into his daily life is provided by a visit to a special diesel filling station for locomotives. Here, Sandkuhl refuels up to 600 liters of diesel before starting his next assignment. His day often ends at the station in Bremen, where new wagons are prepared for the next day.
A Fulfilled Life
Despite the challenges and risks, Roland Sandkuhl regrets not a single moment. He looks forward to his work every day and has found his happiness in living his dream – driving through Germany with his own locomotive day after day.
The German police have implemented an advanced "Water Cannon Defence" system for effective riot control. The water cannon features a rangefinder, visible on the monitor, accurately indicating the target's distance, which in this case is 26 meters. The rectangle on the screen precisely marks the target's location.
Attackers are thwarted from climbing onto the water cannon due to its smooth outer walls and its angled design, which prevents objects from sticking. The deployment strategy typically involves a squadron of three water cannons accompanied by two special vehicles, ensuring robust control even though managing the required manpower can be challenging. Importantly, water cannons are never deployed singly to maintain optimal effectiveness and safety

Kiev produces its own missiles - range deep into enemy territory!WELT Documentary2024-07-24 | UKRAINE WAR: Putin's nightmare! Kiev produces its own missiles - range deep into enemy territory!
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has promised to develop and build his own long-range missiles. In his daily video address, he emphasized the importance of the greatest possible independence in weapons and missile production. “Our missile program has good momentum, and although the task is difficult, we are gradually approaching the possibility of using our missiles and not just relying on the missiles supplied by our partners,” Zelenskyi said.
Ukraine's missile program has historical roots, as the republic was already a major site for Soviet missile production during the Soviet era. New types of missiles have been introduced since the start of hostilities in eastern Ukraine in 2014. According to Kiev, after the Russian invasion in 2022, it was able to sink the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet “Moskva” with missiles of its own production, which have a range of almost 300 kilometers.
Zelensky is planning to further increase this range in order to be able to use missiles as well as drones to attack military objects deep in the Russian hinterland. Moscow currently still has a clear advantage in this respect. Ukraine is not allowed to use Western weapons to fire at more distant objects in Russia, as Europeans and Americans fear a further escalation of the conflict beyond Ukraine.
Developing its own missiles is an important step for Ukraine to strengthen its defense capabilities and be less dependent on external supplies. Selensky emphasized that progress in the missile program is continuing despite the challenges.

For the 2,700 guests, it was time to say goodbye, while an equal number of vacationers began their much-anticipated getaway on board. For Head Chef Andreas Rieg, it was a crucial workday, ensuring the massive number of guests were adequately catered to. On a ship of this size, the quantity of food required is staggering.
Truckloads of fresh products were brought on board and subjected to strict quality control, revealing some surprising findings, such as pineapples with or without tops. The focus was on reducing waste and workload on board.
The ship's bridge sits nearly 50 meters above the waterline. Captain Manuel Panschek expertly maneuvered the ship through the narrow harbor basin of Warnemünde. The busy port required precise coordination, especially with ferry traffic.
Even though the ship was now docked, there was no rest for the crew. Warnemünde serves as a home port, where technicians come on board to overhaul equipment and perform maintenance tasks.
Meanwhile, the new guests began the check-in process, complete with airport-like security checks. Next door, the AIDAmar was anchored in such a way that the dirty diesel generators could be turned off while in port—a small but important step towards environmental protection.
Despite the impressive scale of the cruise ship, guests are thoroughly enjoying their journey. Captain Panschek burns an impressive 140 tons of ship diesel per day, but the guests' enthusiasm remains unshaken.
The kitchen crew is working at full capacity. Andreas Rieck, who comes from a Michelin-starred kitchen, ensures that the dishes are served on time and arrive warm. The logistical challenge is significant, as the restaurants span several floors.
At the end of the day, the AIDAmar sets sail again, this time towards Scandinavia. In ten days, it will return to Warnemünde to welcome new guests and restock supplies. The cruise spectacle in Warnemünde thus continues into a new round.
