【連縁 Project Piano Medley】 Goodgizmo 2020-11-10 | Uh, happy 7th Len'en Anniversary everyone! (yes I know today's the 10th but it's already the 11th in Japan because of time zones and I don't wanna wait longer) This is what I've been working on nonstop for the past few months. I knew way back around the beginning-ish of the year that I would have to think of something to do for the anniversary ahead of time, so I would have time to do whatever it ended up being even if it was something small, but what ended up happening was that at the beginning of August I randomly had the idea of "What if I made a big piano medley :D " and so many, many hours of hard work and anxiety later, here we are!First of all, I mentioned it during the credits but I'm gonna say it here too for emphasis, a lot of what you hear especially in the latter half was rather directly transcribed from 左城宮072, so please, please be good lads and go give his channel love! He does absolutely amazing piano covers of both Touhou and Len'en songs and he's super underrated! Even up to the very end when I was just trying to export the video I kept having this issue with the audio where the volume would keep fluctuating for some reason (which I was able to mostly fix by making it a bit quieter, but now it's a bit quieter so you might wanna turn it up a smidge). I've put so much of myself and my time into this, and yet I can't help but be a little disappointed with the final result. I mean, there's quite a few parts that I like and I'm proud of and I don't think it's bad or was a waste of my time by any means, but it's just not really what I was hoping for when I set out to make this. I don't really have any prior experience with making these sort of arranges and my music theory knowledge is actually pretty limited, so it's kind of rough around the edges, but I tried my best and I think that's what counts. I really only wish I had tried harder to include more songs. 32... that's like nothing lol (also my Eternal Dance Engine sucks, please forgive me Tsurubami).And naturally, all that moping and negative stuff is why I'm totally going to try make a second one sometime ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗNow, don't get your hopes up too high because I have no idea when that'll even BE. I'm thinking either next year or the year after depending on how I'm feeling, and it's also entirely possible I could accidently get hit by a car or something anytime between then and now (please don't run me over btw I want to live and make Len'en content) but it is something I (currently) really want to do sometime. I had sooo many ideas for this medley that didn't end up making the cut, and there's also a bajillion songs missing here. Of course, before making another one of these it'd be nice to git gud™ and actually learn how to do music things, so there's that as well. For now though, I think I'm going to take a little break and then go back to doing smaller stuff. I'll still be doing MuseScore videos because those are a lot of fun, but sometime soon-ish I'd like to get FLstudio so I can hopefully make more Len'en arranges and figure out what I'm doing. Oh boy a generic Touhou gameplay video Goodgizmo 2020-10-01 | Hello againWe recently got a new computer and I couldn't figure out where the heck all the files with the replay data for the dozens of 2hu games I have went (although I did find a few though, actually) so instead of spending who knows how long trying to find them all just so I can back them up I just decided to record all of the ones that were important to me, so here's footage of the first time I beat GFW extra (which is my favorite extra stage in the series tbh) just to prove I'm not dead. Hiatus isn't really over yet, though. Still working hard on what I set out to do and constantly swinging back and forth from "Oh yeah, I can totally get this done in time" to "OH JEEZ FSDJH SEPTEMBER IS ALREADY OVER I ONLY HAVE LIKE A MONTH LEFT" so that's always fun. I wanna say that I'm like, over halfway done??? but it's hard to tell. In some aspects I've been getting a lot done, and in others I've sort of hit a wall. It's still happening though, 100%. Worst case scenario it's just a bit late. So yeah, might do more simple, minimal effort videos like this in the meantime. It just kinda depends on how I'm feeling~
[連縁] The Road That Must Be Walked (Music Box Arrange) Goodgizmo 2020-08-16 | Trying to find VSTs to make LMMS a viable option for making music is suffering and I'm honestly about ready to give up and just buy FL studio instead, but I was able to find at least a few good ones, one of which had a nice music box, so I made this really simple arrange with it. Sort of. I have no experience doing arranges and I'm not confident I could make something decent so this is actually heavily based on BusiedGem's arrange. I don't even know if it ended up translating well from piano into music box, but I hope it's okay. I can always re-do it some time in the future if I end up not liking it. I'm going to be taking a bit of a break from MuseScore videos until I get it done. Don't worry, I WILL get it done. I've already got a deadline set for it and everything (assuming I can get it done by then, if not I'll just post it whenever it's ready!). So yeah, I probably won't be posting much of anything for the next few months. It might not be a complete hiatus since I've got a couple things nearly or already done I could share, and chances are I might take breaks from working on it and do smaller things, but I definitely won't be posting weekly-ish like I have been up until now. As for the other big thing I had planned, I'm thinking I'm going to wait longer before continuing with it. I still want to do it and like a lot of what I have so far, but I keep reworking a lot of it and it's not quite shaped up like I wanted it to yet. I also feel awkward because it's a very personal project and it just feels weird to put something that important to me out there when I haven't even been doing this for very long. I haven't lost interest in doing it, but there's a lot of doubt and anxiety surrounding it right now and I don't want to push myself into doing it while I'm feeling so uncertain. Not to mention I'd like to focus my energy on the newer one I started since there's actually a deadline for that one, so if I tried to do both at once it'd probably be less productive in the long run.Also I'm sorry I talk about the things I'm working on so vaguely lol. I just like things to be a surprise when they do happen. Moving back to things relevant to this video, I'd like to do more arranges some time in the future. My tools are limited right now and I don't have a lot of confidence, so it'll probably be a long while before then, but I know it's something I'd like to do eventually. Chances are I'll do some more simple ones like this after I'm done with the other thing, but I'd definitely like to do some legitimate ones some day. Musescore videos aren't going anywhere, though. I'd like to branch out and focus on other things in the future but I have a lot of fun making those, so they'll be sticking around for a long time.

I tried recording with OBS so I could get a higher frame rate so that all the grace notes would be more visible on the piano keyboard, but I couldn't figure out how to make it so that it wouldn't display the HUD musescore has at the top of the program (the other video recorder that I've been using just lets you immediately customize what area of the screen you want to be captured so it's never been an issue before (though, ironically, I think I accidentally caught some of it in this one but I really don't care enough to record it again)). Long story short, I tried fiddling around with the settings in both OBS and the video editor for like an hour but nothing was working so I finally just gave up. Hopefully it's not too much of a problem.All that aside...I feel kind of defeated to be uploading this one. Made it back around mid-April and, it's kind of dumb and personal so I don't want to give a lot of the details, but I wanted to wait and do something else before sharing it. Quite a bit of time has past since then and I still haven't been able to do what I wanted to, I don't really have anything that's finished at the moment that I can upload, and being realistic, I probably won't be able to do what I've wanted to do. Partly because I don't really have much of an opportunity to do it, and partly because a lot of me's pretty hesitant to do it even when I do get the chance because realistically, it won't turn out the way I want it to at all. So at least for now, I'm giving up. I'm tired of waiting around for something that's probably never going to work out. It's just too painful. If I'm still able to do it eventually, cool, but I just don't want to have to worry about it so much.Melodramatic personal garbage aside, this one was a lot of fun to make (sure wish I could say that about the ones I'm currently trying to work on). Probably helps that this is one of my favorites. I was worried how it would sound with just piano and debated whether or not I should try using harpsichord or even try adding percussion, but I think it actually turned out pretty good! One thing I like about doing this sort of thing is that it helps me understand the original songs better. Like how I noticed this one is the same key as Old Stifled Memories ~ BEGAN (at least, I'm 90% sure it is. I still haven't learned a lot of proper music theory so I'm not super confident) which I thought was kind of funny since they sound like complete opposites. Probably just a coincidence, but it was fun to think about. I've been working on this for the past 2 or 3 weeks and honestly thought it'd still be awhile before it was completed because it was kinda difficult, but here it is!In case it's not obvious, I recently bought Hime's voicebank as well. I originally was gonna hold off on getting them for a good while and get more use out of Mikoto before purchasing another voicebank, but when I heard this song I just 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 I had to do a duet with the both of them. I'm so glad I did that too, because despite how difficult this was Hime's voice is such a joy to work with and I hope to use them more in the future!The main difficulty I had with this song was that I just no idea what exactly to do with the tuning and so like for the first half of working on it I would just sit and go "what the frick do I do to make this sound better?". I think it was good though because I ended up poking around the software more and dabbled in things like effects and what not. That said I messed with the dynamics a lot so I'm sorry if the vocals are either too loud or too quiet in some places. 【Meika Mikoto】 うみなおし 【Vocaloid Cover】 Goodgizmo 2020-05-09 | Welp. I finished this 𝘈 𝘓𝘖𝘛 faster than I thought I was going to. I was planning on taking somewhat of a break to do other things, but a couple days later I ended up finding a different VSQx for the song that sounded a lot better in some places, so I got all excited and immediately went back to work. I didn't want to completely start over from scratch, though, so what I ended up doing was just combining various things from the new one with the old one, and then tweaking other things on my own to make it all sound nicer together. Even though I only ended up using some of it, it was super helpful just to look at it and I think I understand how to use the software a lot better now. I'm still brand new at this so it probably doesn't sound amazing, but I hope it's at least decent.It'll probably be a while before the next time I make a Vocaloid cover (for real this time). I have very mixed feelings on this one...To start with the positive, there's a lot of things I really, really like about it. I recently tweaked some of them very slightly, but I'm really happy with how all the fast parts turned out. I feel similarly with the bass, especially because in a lot of songs I do it's kind of hard to hear the bass, so it's not normally something I'm super confident in it. It's just something I really like listening to (mostly) which feels weird to say about something that I made myself, but that's just how I feel.At the same time, I'm super disappointed with it in a lot of ways. I tried working on it really hard and lost a lot of motivation once or twice during the process, but it just feels like there's a lot wrong here. Like I mentioned before, the harmony sounds super off and I can't tell how much is just the original being kind of weird and how much is actual mistakes on my part. I guess that might not sound like it's a big deal, but it really bothers me personally. I suppose it's not completely terrible, I do like how it sounds overall and listening to it again every now and then makes me feel slightly better. I'd like to give the song another try sometime, though.Ironically, recording this was also a bit of a hassle. MuseScore randomly decided to stop playing any sort of audio and it took me a good 20 or 30 minutes of trying all sorts of different things before eventually deciding to try resetting the program back to it's factory settings before it worked again. Before I would just use BusiedGem's videos as references and try my own thing whenever something either sounded off, didn't match the original, or was missing. This song doesn't really have something like that, at least the last time I checked, so I wanted to make one. I also just like this song a lot.My feelings on this one are kind of mixed... I'm not sure if there's anything actually wrong with it, but something about the harmony sounds off (ironically, I did Monochrome Eye and it has the exact same problem, but even worse, so it must be a Tsuba thing). I think it might be that it's too loud and needs to be quieter than the melody, but I don't think I can do that in a way that doesn't take up tons of space so I'll just leave it be. [MuseScore] (連縁) Critical Point Bidding its Last Farewell Goodgizmo 2020-04-09 | I meant to get this up sooner but oh well.Made this back at the very beginning of the year. I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but this is definitely the most time consuming one I've done so far. I worked on it pretty consistently and for long periods of time and it still ended up taking like 2 weeks. Like with Trioid Töykeät, I made two different versions, this one which only has piano and one with the same instruments as the original including percussion. Unlike Trioid Töykeät though, I made the other one first and then just copied and pasted everything into this one. I didn't include the first minute and twenty seconds of the song in this one, though, because without percussion it's literally just the exact same drawn out chord playing over and over again (I mean, eventually a bit of melody kicks in and plays the same leitmotif used at 2:14 but it's kinda quiet and it probably wouldn't sound very good without the percussion sort of carrying momentum and filling the void between the chords , you know?).Anyways, I think I'll actually upload the other version sometime, since no one's actually done like a full midi of the song, well, at least that I know of. I'd need to polish it a bit more before that though, it gets kinda bad towards the very end. [MuseScore] (連縁) Trioid Töykeät Goodgizmo 2020-04-01 | AAAAA BOTC IS COMING OUT ON THE 10TH THIS IS NOT AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE I'M FREAKING OUT RNOkay now that that's out of my system, here's something relevant to celebrate I guess (though maybe it would be more appropriate if I waited until then?)This was also another really time consuming one, despite the song being on the shorter side. I originally started it all the way back in mid November with the pretentious mindset of "Aw yeah, I wanna be the first person to transcribe it" ...aaand I only got 8 measures in before getting completely stuck (long story short, I couldn't get the rhythm right because I didn't even think of trying 32nd notes smh) . So I gave up on it and didn't try again until the beginning of December. I also ended up using 毬栗 and ATOMYK's midis as references, so there's probably some kind of "moral of the story" you could find in that.Shortly after that, I tried making another version that used the same (or at least similar) instruments as the original, including percussion which was something I had never done before. It actually turned out really well and I low key like it waaaay more than this piano version, but I didn't really see any point to uploading it since people have already made similar things. Maybe one day I'll upload it. [MuseScore] (連縁) Flowers Atop Thin Ice ~ Snowy Country Goodgizmo 2020-03-26 | Aw heck, I'm actually uploading something I worked on for the first time ever. My 5 random subscribers that came from nowhere are gonna be so confused. So yeah, this is a thing that I'm gonna be doing now. Just sharing some of the things I've made in my free time because why not. I'm sorry if the quality is awful on this one, I basically had no idea what I was doing and little to no effort was put into this but in the future I'll experiment with different things and see what works.So here's something short I did like a month ago. Definitely one of the easier ones I've done, it only took me an hour. Also, it might not be super obvious in this one, but this isn't actually meant to be playable, it's just a transcription. You're sure welcome to try if you want though, sometime later I'll put a link to the sheet music but I have no idea when that will be.(EDIT: Finally got around to doing that.
