Devastating house fire - Voyager Point Fire and Rescue NSW 2024-12-11 | Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have extinguished a house fire overnight at Voyager Point near Liverpool in south-west Sydney, leaving the two-level home completely destroyed. Fortunately firefighters were able to save the owner's irreplaceable Rolls Royce from the devastating fire.The blaze broke out just after 6.00pm on Tuesday evening in the double-storey residence on Goodenia Court.More than 30 firefighters and nine fire trucks responded to more than 30 Triple Zero (000) calls to the home on fire, with black smoke pouring from the property that could be seen from neighbouring properties.On arrival, FRNSW crews found both levels of the house fully engulfed with fire.Firefighters quickly got to work to extinguish the blaze on all sides of the property. Two aerial ladder pumper trucks assisted to contain the blaze from above. Crews also worked to protect the neighbouring properties.Fortunately, the only occupant that was home at the time safely evacuated, and there were no pets on the property.It took approximately two and a half hours to get the fire under control and contained. Firefighters were faced with significant structural collapse which challenged operations and concealed deep seated fires.Crews remained on scene throughout the night to continue to extinguish the deep smouldering fire.FRNSW specialist fire investigators are attending the scene today with NSW Police forensics to assist with investigating the cause of the fire.
FRNSW Graduation Ceremony - 29 November 2024 Fire and Rescue NSW 2024-11-29 | NSW Premier Chris Minns, Minister for Emergency Services Jihad Dib and Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell today welcomed 286 new firefighters to the ranks of Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) at a graduation ceremony in western Sydney. The new intake includes 61 permanent firefighters and 225 paid on-call firefighters, with graduates hailing from diverse backgrounds including skydiving, carpentry, architecture, teaching and defence. Metal recycling complex fire - Villawood Fire and Rescue NSW 2024-10-21 | Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have been battling a large fire in a metal recycling complex in Villawood.FRNSW received multiple Triple Zero (000) calls to a fire just after 12.30pm 21 Oct 2024 and firefighters observed large volumes of thick black smoke en route to the incident.Large quantities of mattresses shredded for disposal are well alight, and the fire is deep within multiple areas in the facility.More than 60 firefighters are on scene, with over 16 fire trucks including numerous aerial ladder trucks.Firefighting efforts are being hampered by water supply issues and strong winds are pushing smoke in a northerly direction.FRNSW is urging nearby residents to stay away from the area and keep doors, windows and vents closed.Local evacuations are in place, and there are no reported injuries.Miller Road and Sir Thomas Mitchell Road are currently closed.NSW Police and NSW Ambulance are also in attendance.

These fires highlight the importance of correctly charging batteries at home.- Make sure a smoke alarm or heat alarm is working in rooms where batteries are charged or stored.- Charge batteries on hard surfaces that can't catch on fire like concrete floors or tiles. Firefighters investigating cause of boat fires Fire and Rescue NSW 2023-08-10 | The fire broke out on board one of the vessels moored at the marina on McCarrs Point Road around 5am, 10 Aug 2023. Hazmat incident in Girraween, Sydneys West Fire and Rescue NSW 2023-07-27 | Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) responded to a major Hazmat incident at an industrial complex at Girraween, in Sydney's west on the 26 July 2023. Occupants of units within the industrial complex had originally reported explosions and yellow coloured smoke emitting from a drain. Footage from major building fire in Surry Hills Fire and Rescue NSW 2023-05-26 | This video shows our footage in chronological order from 25 May 2023 4PM - 26 May 2023 11:30AM.Update: 26 May 2023 1:30PMFire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews today remain at the scene of a major fire in Surry Hills, dousing reignition points and assisting with investigations.The blaze, which at its peak was declared a '10th alarm', destroyed two multi-storey buildings on Randle Street yesterday afternoon.More than 120 FRNSW firefighters and 30 fire trucks, from multiple stations across Sydney, battled into the night to contain and extinguish the flames.They managed to save several buildings, including adjoining residential apartments and office blocks on the opposite side of the road.The fire is now out, but a small number of fire crews remain on-site, monitoring for potential flare-ups.They are being assisted by FRNSW's Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), or drones, which are helping pinpoint potential areas of concern.Significant structural collapse has occurred at the site.Engineers and other experts monitoring the stability of what remains of the buildings.An exclusion zone is currently in place in the vicinity of the fire scene and, at this stage, is expected to remain for at least seven days.As a result, at least 50 nearby residents have been left displaced.The advice for anyone who has been displaced and has not yet registered should do so via https://register.redcross.org.au
