AltonTowersMemoriesI've had this 8mm cine film from the 70s for a while and recently got it converted to modern day DVD to see exactly what was on it. I was pleased to see that it features many aspects of the Towers as it was during that period including the amusement park, gardens, sea lions, boats, cable cars etc.

I then have a quick little wander around and ramble on about STUFF.Alton Castle Roof Tour and Church - PuginAltonTowersMemories2024-09-22 | Join me as I visit Pugin's Alton Castle in Staffordshire and have a look on the roof. Before I go to the castle I have a walk up the high street and then have a look at Pugin's St John's RC Church which is next to the castle. This was part of an annual open day at the castle. Enjoy :)Gold Rush Drayton Manor Opening DayAltonTowersMemories2024-07-26 | Join me as I attend the opening morning of the new Gold Rush Rollercoaster at Drayton manor theme park :)Hyperia Opening Day Thorpe ParkAltonTowersMemories2024-05-25 | Join me as I attend the opening day of the Hyperia Roller Coaster at Thorpe Park in 2024. The route stretches up to around 3-4 miles. I will discuss some of the history of the carriage drive and other details along the route. Enjoy :)Alton Towers 2005 Archive Video FootageAltonTowersMemories2024-05-03 | Some random clips from a visit in around 2005. Please forgive the shaky footage as image stabilization wasn't great on some consumer camcorders back then :)Drayton Manor 2005 Old Video FootageAltonTowersMemories2024-04-27 | Some random clips from a visit in around 2005. Please forgive the shaky footage as image stabilization wasn't great on some consumer camcorders back then :)Alton Towers - Shortest Queues of the Year?AltonTowersMemories2024-04-27 | I visited Alton Towers on 25/04/2024 and I reckon that this has to be one of the very quietest days of the year. It appears that visiting just after the Easter holidays is now one of the best times to visit. I also spot a bit of preparation work for the new Project ocean ride in Forbidden Valley and show you my newly purchased heritage related keyring :)The Wave rollercoaster Opening Day at Drayton Manor VLOGAltonTowersMemories2024-04-26 | I went along to Drayton Manor theme park on the opening day of 'The Wave' rollercoaster (26/4/2024) to see what was going on. I also have a general look around the park to see what's changed since my last visit years ago. I also have a sneak peek at construction of the new rollercoaster that is opening later this year. Enjoy :)Exploring Cuckoo Arbour at Alton TowersAltonTowersMemories2024-04-17 | Join me as I go for a walk to the somewhat mysterious Cuckoo Arbour folly in the gardens at Alton Towers. Most probably built in the early to mid 1800s to amuse guests who would be walking the grounds for pleasure during that period and beyond. This is off the beaten track but at no point do you need to go past any 'no entry' points or closed gates. It is in a very isolated spot though, so a lot of care should be taken if ever attempting to visit. Thanks for watching, Adam :)The Lost Glasshouses of Alton TowersAltonTowersMemories2024-04-13 | Here I look at several missing conservatories or glasshouses from the Alton Towers estate which were likely present during the 1800s, but have all but vanished in our modern day. Some were in the gardens and some were in what is the modern day theme park. A very niche subject, I accept! I will use old and new maps, old images and will explore on the ground. I had been meaning to do this video for a while, so hopefully a few people will find it interesting. Thanks for watching, Adam :)Alton Towers & Drayton Manor 2005AltonTowersMemories2024-04-05 | Me and my friends visited Alton and Drayton in 2005 and I've put this video together for posterity! We had fun making it, and I hope you enjoy the nostalgia too. Excuse the camera shake please, image stabilization wasn't much of a thing 20 years ago :)Alton Towers Ruins Walkthrough 2024 - West WingAltonTowersMemories2024-03-22 | Join me as I have a little look around the VERY RARELY seen West Wing part of the ruins at Alton Towers. Actually, it apparently wasn't even supposed to be open as myself along with other guests were asked to leave the house after a while as staff had mistakenly accidentally not cordened off access (you can see that I occasionally come across other random strangers inside). It was great to have a quick look around this part of the house though after many years of it being closed to the public. Shame about the state they've left it in with all of the Scarefest leftovers, however.Nemesis Reborn Opening Day Experience Alton TowersAltonTowersMemories2024-03-18 | Join me as I experience the madness of an early arrival and late finish at Alton Towers for the opening day of the Nemesis Reborn rollercoaster. We'll see the mad rush to enter at the beginning of the day and explore everything possible that's new in the area. We'll end with how Nemesis Reborn looks at night time. Enjoy :)Alton Canal History & Walk (Uttoxeter Canal)AltonTowersMemories2024-01-28 | Join me as I go to see what's left of the Canal that once passed through the village of Alton in Staffordshire (part of the Uttoxeter Canal). Along the walk and exploration I will explain parts of the history of the canal in this area. The beautiful village of Alton and its surrounding area rarely disappoints :)Nemesis Viewing Platform First LookAltonTowersMemories2023-04-26 | I was among the first few people to use the new viewing platform which will allow people to see the construction of the new version of Nemesis. Truth be told, there's not a lot to see currently! :)Nemesis New Track Has Arrived via Phalanx Lorries Alton TowersAltonTowersMemories2023-04-26 | The next morning after the arrival of the first new bits of Nemesis track arrive at Alton Towers. The Orangery Alton Towers Gardens HistoryAltonTowersMemories2023-03-19 | Upon hearing that the Orangery (also known as the Quarry Greenhouse) at Alton Towers may possibly be being refurbished in the next several years I decided to capture the current state that it's in and also to explain some of the history of the building. There is current footage and little bits of old footage and also some old photo's etc. I even drew a picture of what the Orangery would have originally looked like when first built (I'm not an artist, so please go easy on me haha). I hope you find it interesting. Thanks for watching :)The Curse at Alton Manor Opening Day First Riders ExperienceAltonTowersMemories2023-03-18 | Join me as we start at the front of the queue for Alton Towers on the opening day of the Curse at Alton Manor (at Alton Towers theme park). Then we go through the turnstiles and I go (unusually) full enthusiast and have a steady jog to 'The Curse' to get to the front of the queue. The lengths you go to sometimes to get some decent footage to look back on (training for the 5k run at Towers late last year helped)! We then get led through the empty queuline by one of the dressed up actors and there are lots of actors etc around the outside of the house as time goes on. John Wardley (designer of Nemesis et al) is sighted at least a couple of times (from memory, once opening the door of the Manor and once in the giftshop). Then there is Michael Eley who was treated to a VIP first ride as he has written a book about the original ride and is known to Alton Towers. Shawn Sanbrooke of Theme Park Worldwide is also spotted turning up to join the queue and do a bit of vlogging. We latterly enter the facade of the house...Then, it's simply time to Exit through the giftshop (where John Wardley is spotted) as I don't break the rules and film inside. Enjoy :)Alton Towers Stately Home Ruins 2006 & 2014AltonTowersMemories2023-03-11 | Some old footage from my old camcorders, mostly of the stately home ruins at Alton Towers (there are a few other random bits). Apologies in advance for some of the lesser quality & shaky video in the second half as this was from 2006 and recorded on mini DV tape from a not brilliant old camcorder. I thought it may be of interest so included it anyway.
Also includes a few other bits that were on the tapes like the Flag Tower, Chained Oak Tree (before all the branches had been knocked off) etc.
Enjoy :)Alton Towers Project Horizon SW9 Council Planning APPROVAL MeetingAltonTowersMemories2023-02-16 | Staffordshire Moorlands council meet and officially APPROVE planning for Project Horizon which is thought to be Secret Weapon 9 (SW9). Enjoy :)Alton Towers Country House Ruins Walk ThroughAltonTowersMemories2022-08-21 | Late August 2022. I decided that I'd do a bit of an impromptu walkthrough of the Towers Ruins for 2022. The Towers have hardly been open for a couple of years now (which is very poor) so when I heard that they had actually been opened for the first time in 2022 a couple of weeks ago I thought it was best to go and have a look (not really meaning to film a walkthrough beforehand), basically as you never know when or if the place will be open again. Unfortunately some previously open bits of the ruins weren't open, but that wasn't a surprise due to the way Scarefest props take up most of the space nowadays (and H&S concerns). As I said this was a bit of an unplanned film so there's some 'umming' and 'erring' as I was just speaking off the cuff without any planning. I hope you enjoy the walkaround. I really appreciate you guys and girls sticking around and watching my content over the years! Thanks a load. Adam :)Alton Towers Xmas Lightopia WalkthroughAltonTowersMemories2021-12-10 | Here I am walking around the Alton Towers theme park Xmas time Lightopia event in the dark in 2021 giving you a general view of what was going on. There's a bit of a look around the Xmas market, then a walk around the Lightopia route, then a recording of the light projected display against the wall of water over the boating lake. Enjoy, Adam :)Drive Denstone to Alton Towers Express Parking Xmas Lightopia 2021AltonTowersMemories2021-12-04 | Join me in my passenger seat as we have a nice drive of a few miles from Denstone to Alton Towers via Alton village in Staffordshire whilst on the way to the Lightopia event & Christmas market. 3/12/2021. Lightopia event & Xmas market video coming soon......... :)Scarefest 2021 Alton Towers Night Lights - Rides Gardens RetrosquadAltonTowersMemories2021-10-13 | Some footage from Alton Towers on Friday 8th October 2021, the first day of Scarefest. The video features some of the rides and Retrosquad and the Garden Lights: Whispering Souls. Hopefully it'll be interesting to look back on one day, especially when the temporary rides have been removed. Enjoy :)Alton Towers 2021 Slow Motion Cinematic footage mix Theme Park & GardensAltonTowersMemories2021-09-12 | A little video I put together featuring the gardens and some theme park rides at Alton Towers. It was just a little practice project I fancied doing and it will be nice to look back one day on some of the scenes from the time. I hope you enjoy watching it. Adam :)Ug Swinger POV Alton Towers 2006AltonTowersMemories2021-09-08 | By 'un-popular' demand, I bring you footage from the Ug Swinger in Ug Land at Alton Towers from c2006. No-one asked for it, but you're getting it! It was positioned in the area near where the waltzers were placed in the 2021 season, very close to the Rita rollercoaster. The particular highlight is just how close Rita used to pass the chairs when the chairs are at their highest point. I think the ride gets shut down at one point for people messing around holding chairs as well. Probably about 5-6 different bits of rides in total. Errr, enjoy!??Chocolate Towers at Alton Towers 2006AltonTowersMemories2021-09-02 | An Easter event at Alton Towers in 2006 was named 'Chocolate Towers'. The main feature was a large sweet ejecting volcano structure named 'Chocuvious' (shouldn't that have been Chocuvius though?!) at the bottom of Towers Street. It was partly to celebrate the opening of the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ride also and there were dancers, a chocolate fountain etc etc. Just a bit of raw footage here, I've not tried to create a masterpiece or anything. Hopefully it just gives a little idea of the ambience at the time. Thanks for watching. Adam :)Nemesis Red Blood Waterfalls Alton Towers loopedAltonTowersMemories2021-08-23 | Footage from a few trips to Alton Towers around 2006. Features the red water that was used until there were complaints from the local authorities that it was polluting local water sources. Obviously it's not HD footage as my consumer camcorder back then (which used a tape!) wasn't as good as modern day devices. I've looped the footage three times so that the 'blood' can be enjoyed for a bit longer :)Alton Towers 1960s archive video footageAltonTowersMemories2021-08-20 | Video footage taken from an old 8mm cine film reel that I own. This is a little known feature and area that 1000's of visitors walk around the vicinity of every day that the park is open without realising that it's there. A clear-up of the area was done c2007 but the area has once again overgrown in recent times. This area once housed a small zoo.
