Josh, Kris, and Ron return with me to Gallia. Zach joins in on the trip.
With Isara's death on everyone's mind, morale is very low for Squad 7. Eleanor hands Welkin a breather mission to help take his mind off the stress - recapture Bruhl. The trip back home does wonders for the team as they each remember what they're fighting for, with Welkin giving Alicia some well-needed pepping up as she's become his new morality pet.
The good times don't last forever as both Gallia and the Empire gear up for the biggest battle of the war so far - a showdown at the wide open Naggiar Plains. The Empire plans to invoke their huge numbers advantage over the Gallians to nip this in the bud right now, with Selvaria reappearing at the vanguard of the Empire's forces. Not helping matters is General Damon looking to conscript more hands wherever he can find 'em to even hope of matching the enemy forces.
Squad 7 naturally gets a foothold in the battle proper with the plains being an open bombing site. Despite the immense pressure, including Selvaria breaking out her true power, the 7's successfully force Selvaria to retreat after capturing their base camp. It's only a temporary victory at best with the Empire looking to regroup and stomp out Gallia once and for all. The situration doesn't look good for our heroes, but they _do_ have one ace in the hole they weren't counting on...

It is not Yet time for slumber.
You know, Order of the Crimson Arm was a fun time with some solid ideas for a rather inconspicuous FE7 ROM hack. Now, let's have a game with much of the same DNA in it as the creator of this project collaborated with OCA and theirs did likewise. Here bears DLATMOL - Dark Lord and The Maiden of Light!
A roaming tactician from the country of Vanheim (no canon name but we're going with Serena here) is looking to prove her worth at the world at large and seeks self-improvement. Her journey takes her to the land of Ernterre and under the employ of Duke Orion, who doesn't plan on offering much experience at first, but it soon blooms into the usual doom and gloom that comes with being an FE protagonist. Orion has to deal with domestic issues that gradually get worse in the coming days, and it's up to Serena to help him think things through - he's more the kind to stab first, ask questions later.
How -much- remains to be seen. (spoilers: it's a lot!)

Josh, Kris, and Ron return with me to Gallia.
Welkin is taken to see the princess of Gallia, Cordelia gi Randgriz, to get some sick recognition for his deeds in Vasel and Barious and see Gallia try to make nice with the neighboring Federation. It goes south when the Feds' ambassador attempts a kidnapping on Cordelia, but Squad 7 puts a stop to that plan. Welkin then gets a shiny medal for being a national hero. Blessed man.
Then it's off to the beach before getting down 'n dirty into the Fouzen Industrial Mines, home to Darcsen concentration camps. Here they meet a militia sympathiser and handyman, Zaka, who puts a big hole in the Empire's plans and their giant armored railcar.
D-Day approaches when our heroes arrive at the Marberry Shore, threatening to end the squad's run before it starts with its devastating gatling bunker encampments. Isara comes up with a winning formula to help keep the party safe with smoke and mirrors and ensure victory, but that victory comes at too high a cost...

Josh, Kris, and Ron return with me to Gallia.
Welkin and Squad 7 make it to Barious Desert and ingest an unhealthy dose of sandwiches as they wonder why the Imperial forces are set up here. Turns out their commander, Prince Maximillian, is interested in learning more about the ancient Valkyrur lore and unearthing a powerful artifact from ages past, the Valkof. Alicia thinks this is a good opportunity to lop off the army's head, but by Max's side is his powerful right hand, Selvaria, a dame capable of piercing the heavens with some Spiral Energy, know what I'm Saiyan? ' 3'
Max greatly believes in carrying a bigger stick in battle and greets the Gallian army with his mighty Heavy Tank, the Batomys. In truth, all he needs is Selvaria, but he likes to be *extra.* My boy Welkin, however, is not easily rattled, and has a plan to show that he can set Max up for a great fall...
Getting the Imps on the run, Welkin and Alicia are separated from the rest of the squad and remember how to be human in this war. By applying plant medicine. Do not doubt Welkin's green thumb.

Josh, Kris, and Ron return with me to Gallia. Duck is a bit late.
At last.
I'm not gonna bother witch much preamble with this one - you all should know by now. It's been 13 years since I last touched VC1 on this channel for a full run. That's way too long for this goated game. High time I returned to the Europan grind to hang with my boy again.
Gallia's a nice little unicorn-shaped country in the continent of Europa, brimming with juicy stores of ragnite that's a hot commodity in this 1935 timeline. 22-year-old Welkin Gunther returns from his studies at University to his hometown of Bruhl where he's held at gunpoint by his new best friend Alicia Melchiott. The two quickly make nice when the Empire starts claiming heads in their war for ragnite energy and it's off to the races. With his rad sister Isara and equally rad Medium Tank, Edelweiss, Welkin assumes command of the Squad 7 militia regiment and tells the impounding Imperial invaders to *bug off.*
War is cringe, but Valkyria Chronicles is based. Y'all better recognize.

The end has come as Storch, Titus, and Waluyo overthrow the Nevanese Empire and read Festan the Riot Act, but not before everyone collectively turns on Titus' ambitions after he openly admits to wanting to claim the throne becuase a cactus told him to do it. Also, Festan was just some dude named Yury who killed the real Emperor Festan as a kid as a dare by his friend, but he had to forcibly become the mask or die.
40 years on, it's time for die.
Everyone leaves and Titus succumbs to his paranoia when he's spooked by three Christmas ghouls. Or rather, one ghoul.

Vision Quest rules and I can't sing its praises more. Dan did a great job and even two years on it's still a great time in its rather unpolished state. Go and play it, it recently got a version 3 patch! You'll at least like it, promise.

Sjohstrom is rip and Horvath smirks as he slinks away. Before giving chase, Storch and others do away with Lord Darien who slows the party down and has an anti-horse agenda for some reason. Weirdo. Sigrid bulks up ready for vengeance, but before she can exact it, we are made to deal with a curry-fueled domestic incident! Hey, it's what Onderdonk wants, ain't gonna say no to him.
Horvath hides in shadows and flees with a massive amount of sequel bait on his breath. After a huge loredump we find that he was responsible for some human experiments gone wrong and make a detour to free some more prisoners before they were given the bad Izuka drugs.
All the while Storch and Waluyo become good mates as Titus' plans for conquest become increasingly less subtle.

With Sigrid confirmed alive and Festan's plans to wipe out Kuching uprooted, Storch, Titus, and Waluyo all defect from under the Nevanese thumb and take this chance to get even with the Emperor for wasting their time and dragging the whole continent into war for petty gains. Storch and Waluyo are just interested to put this whole ordeal behind them, but Titus has his eyes on a bigger prize... and Helga is not fooled by his passive attitude.
Sigrid's papa Sjohstrom is overjoyed to see his daughter safe and would be singing the gods' praises for eternity, but eternity waits for no man...

Chief Waluyo experiences Radiant Dawn Part 3 in reverse order as his party continues to fend off the Nevanese forces from invading their personal space, culminating in a melee with Lori. It does eventually end like RD Part 3 does though with Storch singlehandedly telling both sides to stop this hopeless conflict from claiming more lives. You can tell he is getting increasingly fed up with this long game of Festan's.
At least it didn't require a protagonist having to do some sketchy ethical tactics to make things worse before everyone got along. Though I wouldn't put it past Titus, just saying...

Storch and Titus acclimate themselves to the current rumblings of the world since their departure into Mahala in a gathering of the States; apparently a Lady Sigrid of Lomsk has been kidnapped and murdered while studying abroad by tribesmen of Kuching led by a new rising chief, Waluyo. Kuching wishes to vie for independence from Nevan and this attack was meant to get a rise out of the emperor. Naturally, Festan is not happy with this show of aggression and orders all ruling houses loyal to him to put down this new threat of nomads before they build momentum. Titus chooses to ally himself with Lord Lori of Ofenloch and travel inland by boat to strike swiftly.
Of course, Storch thinks this is rather suspicious, Nevan suddenly announcing an invasion campaign against another nation with only word of mouth to go on(and to his credit he's very right, but we're getting ahead of ourselves!), but he continues to be in Titus' company nonetheless. After scrapping with the Wabooz tribe and dealing with a wood shortage by carrying logs back to camp, the team successfully breaks into Kuching nearly at the cost of Lori's ship, which took heavy damage in the initial attack.
As Lori and Titus back off for a time, our attention turns to what is really happening on the other end of the spectrum of this war - who exactly -is- Waluyo and why does he have a sick axe?

As much as I enjoyed playing through this on stream, Dark Deity's a pretty average game in most respects. Its attemps to like modern FE only run skin deep as once you uncover the core gameplay loop you find that there's not much to it at all. Map in and map out, you do basically the same thing, beat the same enemies, listen to the same repetitive critical and level up quotes with only window dressing as a plot for most of its runtime. There's glimmers of a real game here and there, but they're slathered in an overall mediocre experience. If you're looking for a game to turn your brain off to then this could do it for you with its randomizer features but, for someone like me, I felt that just isn't enough to sate my appetite. It's just an okay meal, but I'll snack on something else when I'm done.
The DLC is up next! Don't expect to be excited - it's hardly worth the $10. Thanks for watching.

Despite his gripes with this nobility succession thing and being very vocal about his displeasure in this lot in life, Storch continues to assist Titus in deposing Gradin's right to rule and serve the emperor. Though Gradin manages to ensnare our heroes into a trap, it's of little consequence as Storch ensures the fool lord breathes his last.
Belaro is free of Gradin's oppression and in three months time, Storch and Titus work hard to try and undo his tax break damage on the country. Just as Storch considers preparing to return home, Titus gives him a new mission to escort him to the country of Mahala and speak with her queen discreetly, which Emperor Festan wouldn't like to hear. To assuage Storch's concerns about heading out again, Titus chooses to officially hire his services and pay him a good sum once this is all done, and we're off!

As Irving begins to gain steam on his ascent to dethrone the king, he runs into his aunt Liberty trying to knock heads against more of Varic's goons and failing because they suddenly learned how to dodge. Rather annoying, that. With Liberty's help, Irving decides to try and conscript help in his own way to get some anti-Varic sympathy going by getting up on a little stage in the snow. It doesn't take.
Akmenos also reveals that he kidnapped Irving's mom and wants him to reflect on arrogance in Arrogance Peak. He may not budge much, but his team sure does, 'cuz these guys are getting jacked fast.
Also mood was kinda low due to the intense heat and we've reached the point in the game where not much -new- or exciting happens so it gets to be rather repetitive. So sorry 'bout that.

Storch has a bout of mental fatigue once once he befriends Gunnar and the fatigue makes him regret not putting a ring on Larisa the first chance he got. Losing a brother at the critical moment would hurt anyone's chances. While he continues to be awkward around Larisa from afar, he soon rescues his parents from imprisonment and no sooner is that done is he then conscripted to aid one Lord Titus in ousting his uncle Gradin from the Belaro throne. Storch is down with the idea at first, but begins having doubts as the campaign gets more and more fierce. He just wanted to feed himself and his folks, that's all!

Heck.
The GBAFE ROM hacking community's taken plenty of strides in recent years proven time an again with FEE3's yearly events. Some prove to be ambitious, others prove to be humble. Vision Quest embodies the word "humble".
Our boy pandan has earned his stripes in the community for being an earnest and helpful fellow to his colleagues, supporting those starting out and veterans alike, and just being a chill dude overall. His project is a rather apt reflection of him as a person. It shows effort where it can but doesn't go above board and keeps its scope real grounded. It's sprawling with character(and characters), plenty of stuff to see, but doesn't expect everything from you. Just that you'll have a good time with its setting and cast. (and lots of food dialogue!)
It's no wonder why this is among the most popular ROM hacks in the FE community today.
So two years ago I streamed the game when the first completed release was ready and had a lot of fun with it but I kept my backlog nice and clogged up. Well I gotta unclog that log so now I finally get to post these. Sorry for the delay!
Our story begins in the state of Belaro where the people are trying to go about their daily lives when the lord of the land, Gradin, begins imposing heavy taxes on the people to fuel his own desires for a grander rule, naturally. A lad named Storch and his rogue compatriots have had enough of trying to eke out a living in this oppressed time and choose to make a statement by robbing from the upper class to feed their commonwealth. Of course, altruistic motives such as those catch the eye of the man filling his pockets with the wealth that should be his and Gradin mounts an attempt to bring these vagabonds to heel. They will not. It's through Storch's scraps with Gradin and the Belaro army does a greater scheme unfold before him, and not just from other enemies, but even some closer to home...
You fellas hungry? Then eat the rich!

Irving's overseas escapades has him stealing a gemstone from a ruins before being devoured by poison gas, then the gemstone tells him to go to another set of ruins and fight his mirror image, which he wins handily. After being handed more Infinity Stones than God, he puts them to work on his crew as he establishes a new base of operations, but first he's gotta take care of a baby dragon. No need for Time Wizard, the swelling of our heroes' muscles is all they need.
They return home to the warfront and find that King Varic has made a huge mess of things so they decide to set right a wrong they helped in previously by freeing a bunch of prisoners, including that Alexa chick from the second session. Also Irving rides a dragon too. He's earned it why not?

One of my favorite additions in a game like this - Combat! Play 6 maps but they're in realtime while having a single unit going ham destroying and capturing things. It's mindless and fun. Also Andy found where Flak and Adder hid off to! Steady on, boys.

My first time covering an indie title! Behold Dark Deity, a game that began life as a small project essentially as another take on the Fire Emblem formula and very much a direct competitor in its core design. 'Twas given a Kickstarter and released last year on Steam and later on the Switch. Notable for its use of spriting talent from the FE ROM hacking community, which a handful of names I know worked on this.
Reception was... a bit mixed. General casual consensus on Steam seem to like it just fine despite its rougher state than most. Others, such as the FE ROM hacking community, completely turned their noses up on it for a variety of reasons. Myself, I was interested for a while until I heard the discourse on the FE Universe forums which I frequent and it dipped a fraction. Mel had played a little bit and she liked what she played but knew the game had some issues and was willing to cut them some slack since, you know, first time indie dev at work here.
I had finally watched a playthrough some months back to come to my own conclusions. It's... yeah, it's a little rough and it won't be for everyone especially if you're looking for an FE-like experience with a bit more meat on its bones. This game is very simple. A bit... too simple at times, but there's still some charm to be had yet.
Typical FE storytime here - the continent of Etlan is now seeing war and some young cadets are about to pass their military training. Irving and his homies get to strut their stuff before being conscripted to the war effort by their king and eventually made to go find the Infinity Stones before the first four hours are up. No, I'm not kidding.
This game goes fast and loose with its story, but stick around! You might like Cia's smile!

The end is nearly upon us as the Allied Nations close in on another Black Obelisk ready to shatter it and free Omega Land of this crypto curse. Von Bolt is not amused at these attempts to end his crypto empire. Especially when it means he has no more lifeblood to siphon. He steps out to battle personally, though unlike Sturm he needs some help to be seen as a credible threat to our heroes.
Eagle laughs at him.

Who in the nine hells thought it was a great idea to clone Andy a second time and can I have what they're having? Also -this- Andy clone seems to have a bit of an existential crisis. Poor thing. You will be loved in your reverence of no airport knowledge.
Playing with Ron, Steven, and Billy. Matt, Dandragon, and Jon were spectating. Eventually Bean steps in on the last turn redo.

Our second go at space has Billy donning the mantle of Content Crusader. If you do not believe in you making good -content- then you are decidedly -Anti-Content- and will know the wrath of chaos.
Apparently the servers agreed.

Hey, remember Jess' time with the volcano last game? Yeah, here's two of them with one guarded by Blue Kanbei and his new stubby legs.

Jugger, I already played through Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, this is not the time...

Oh no! It seems dismantling one Black Obelisk wasn't enough to dissuade the Bolt Guard from continiung ops in Omega Land and now they've chosen to create spooky clones again! Least Andy's not alone this time. First up is Olaf and he's seen some big time buffs since his time but so have some of the returning Cosmo Land crew! Sami, Grit, Eagle, and Sonja all show up to teach the Bolt Guard some old school flavor.
Thank Fordicon for the thumbnail.
With me is Steven, Matt, and Ron.

Time to put an end to Shadaloo once and for all.
===
The Edge is razor sharp with this one.
Investigations is a real solid spin-off title and does a great job at letting us see how Phoenix's other half gets stuff done. Last case is a biiiit long in the tooth but it was fairly satisfying all in all.
Stay tuned for the sequel though, where all of what they learned from this game was polished to a high shine. Thanks for watching!

So what if we told you the Bolt Guard had a -really big- Black Crystal? Guarded by some satellite surrounded bu ICBMs that specifically targeted to destroy itself?
And that somehow this is the hardest mission in the game? Yeah, the Bolt Guard are weird.

The Allied Nations are quick to give Hawke and Lash a cold welcome but have to accept their help in order to stop Von Bolt's draining scheme. He reveals the location of a secret restoration facility where the Bolt Guard replenishes their lost troops and supplies. How, you ask? With a bunch of Black Crystals! Didn't anyone tell them that bitcoin is on the downtrend recently?
Also they have no right to use the Healing Touch, it reduces your rank, don'tcha know.
Thank Fordicon for the thumbnail.

With Alba revealing his true colors, Edgeworth has to come up with a new plan of attack if he plans to defeat the ambassador's Final Psycho Crusher. However, Alba seems more keen on deflecting blame rather than countering it head on and attempts to wriggle out on every chance he can and win by timer scamming. Who better to stop him than -literally everyone-?
No, seriously.
With me is Steven, Matt, and Ron.

With one endboss successfully put away, we still need to find out who was actually responsible for the double homicide, so now Edgeworth resumes his line of thinking with Ambassador Alba. Lang plays a deep fake with the accusation that -Franziska- was the one that did the deed, but the ensuing posturing provides Edgeworth with the necessary pieces to turn the gears in his brain on and dump this case on its head.
I just hope he knows what he's doing when investigating Shadaloo, homie's gonna need something that gives him I-frames...

Hawke has a chance encounter with the leader of the Bolt Guard, Von Bolt, while trying to eavesdrop on Kindle's musings. He learns only enough about the man hooked up to a life support chair that he seeks to continue draining Omega Land's energy for himself but is soon discovered and shooed out once Kindle delcares feeding time for her Oozium. On today's menu: Stuffed hawk with a kitty cat puree.
Hawke and Lash flee from the hoard of Oozium on their tail and run into the Allied Nations. The former enemies join forces to make sure this ooze stops moving. (also a fantastic Exp. grinding spot!)

The journey to Red Rock Island continues into a dense forested area where the unlikely team of Kindle and Lash await to ambush the Allied Nations with a new biological weapon, one Lash makes no secret voicing her displeasure with. Oh boy, it sure is moving all right.

The Allied Nations seemed to have pinpointed the origin of the land siphoning to Red Rock Isle, a good deal northwest of where we are currently. To prepare for the coming battles, they've been authorized some new units to use. Carriers at sea! Stealths in the air! And another Black Arc to complete the trifecta! It's truly a raucous party.

The lab map Hawke was barely guarding leads to Kindle holing herself up in a swirl of pipelines. To make sure she saves face, she challenges the Allied Nations to a grab battle of properties with the piperunner schematics on the line. She also has no problems with throwing Lash under the bus when things go awry. Class act, lady.
Jess rises to the challenge but has a bit of a rough road ahead of her.

Hawke is bored and actually not down with the whole land siphoning plan that the Bolt Guard is concocting, feeling no fun in ruling a wasteland. Somehow, the Allied Nations find themselves encroached upon a pipeline peninsula with Hawke ready to blast and rave. Jess thinks of a way through.
With me is Steven, Matt, and Ron.

Edgeworth and Kay bear fangs against Shih-na, whose alibi of chasing down the Yatagarasu comes under scrutiny. She finds this... highly amusing.

No need to dodge 200 lightning bolts here, you'd lose all your money anyway.
This will probably be the last PS2 Fortune Street video I upload for a long time if ever. The game just sorta wore off of interest for me real hard and I need a break. That is, if I ever return to it...

How Lash, the destroyer of Olaf's hometown, loses a remote to six Black Bombs is beyond me. Must be because she's 12 or something.
Green Earth steps up to bat next, with Jess coming in hot (like always :) ) aboard a gigantic new vehicle of doom. She is escorted by the righteous self-made knight Javier and with their Megatank, they challenge the Allied Nations to a match to defeat their behemoth in 15 days. (plus standard rout/HQ cap) Size sometimes matters. Sometimes you may be -too- big.

Yellow Comet comes crashing into the campaign in only the most fitting way possible with a big round cannonball of a man. Vintage Sensei's drinking buddy most likely, Grimm will knock you flat long before he notices that he's missing limbs from combat thanks to his poor defense. He insists Rachel prove she's of Nell's kin in a mock battle and drags Jake to deal with Sensei's copter buzzing.
Then suddenly snow! As they enter what is meant to be Blue Moon's territory in Omega Land, Jugger considers using Kindle for kindling. I wish he did.
With me are Matt and Billy.

The first act ends without much of a fuss which gives ample time for the Number Two of the proclaimed Bolt Guard to emerge from her dosage of shopping to self-aggrandize. Kindle might love to hear herself talk, but she runs these streets for a reason. Play by her rules and be trampled over.
A lab map is acquired leading to the production site of the new Black Hole ship, the Black Boat. Cheap, nimble, carries infantry, and even repairs units! Pretty sweet deal, would love to wrestle Koal and Jugger for some in a Fog map.
