Chicago- Questions 67 & 68 LIVE- sung in Japanese ChicagoKid1969 2017-09-07 | This was recorded at the Budokan in Tokyo, Japan on December 15, 1995. This song was written by Robert Lamm and it appeared on the first album. Infact, it was their first single. In 1971, Robert lamm and Peter Cetera recut their vocals for this song and "Lowdown". These two songs were rerecorded with Japanese lyrics. Chicago performed these songs on their tour of Japan in June of 1972. This performance is the only time they have done this since (edit in: Performed again in 2008). Peter Cetera was replaced by bassist/vocalist Jason Scheff in 1985. This is also the first tour for new guitarist Keith Howland. Enjoy!

It was written by Peter Cetera & David Foster. The music video for this song remains a very popular request on VH-1 Classic. The song is dated, but it hasn't died. Obviously, people still love this song... or the video. Either way, this is a rare glimpse at the band performing this song with Peter Cetera. He left the band after the 'Chicago 17' Tour. This song was a part of Chicago's setlist through 1994. It resurfaced, briefly, a couple of years ago. This is the original! Enjoy!

"No Wasted Moments" is from Bill's solo EP of the same name. That EP was released in Japan only and is quite collectible. This song was written by BC and Joey Carbone. Bill has a NEW solo album (No Place Left To Fall) released in 2008 with many guest appearances including Steve Lukather and Peter Cetera. Chicago- Hearts In Trouble - LIVE ChicagoKid1969 2017-09-07 | This was filmed on the Summer 1990 Tour in Seattle, WA at a private party for thousands of Microsoft employees. "Hearts In Trouble" was written by Bill Champlin, Dennis Matkosky & Kevin Dukes. It appears on the 'Days of Thunder' soundtrack and Chicago's 'The Box', box set released on Rhino. This performance features Bill Champlin on vocals, keys & harmonica. New drummer, Tris Imboden on his first tour. This song was only performed on this Summer 1990 tour. It has not been played since. It appeared on the band's 12th album in 1978, 'Hot Streets'. The original version was good. But, this updated version with the newer members really brought this song to life. Enjoy!
Chicago (band)- Mother -LIVE 1972 ChicagoKid1969 2017-09-07 | This was filmed at the Budokan in Tokyo, Japan- June, 1972. "Mother" was written by keyboardist/vocalist Robert Lamm in 1970 and appeared on their 'Chicago III' album in early 1971. This was a political statement on Robert's part regarding pollution. This song was performed routinely from 1970-1972. They may have performed this at ChicagoFest in 1981. I can't remember. Either way, it has not been performed in the last 26 years. This song features all three members of the horn section soloing at the same time during the middle section. This is not intended to sound like a tight ensemble solo. It's supposed to sound very "erratic" and "unsettling". However, the song closes with a very nice, mellow, pure jazz trombone solo by James "Jimmy" Pankow. Believe it or not... Rolling Stone Magazine actually praised this song! Imagine that... Enjoy!

This medley of hits include, "Hard To Say I'm Sorry", "You're The Inspiration", "If You Leave Me Now" & "Glory Of Love". David Foster co-wrote 3 of the 4 songs. This performance played a huge role in bringing Peter out of "retirement". In 2003, he performed his first solo concerts since 1996. This song was a hit despite the fact it suffered from no music video in the 'video age'. Very odd that they didn't make one. This song reached #17 on the main Billboard chart and #9 on the American AC chart. It was written by Steve Kipner and Randy Goodrum. Steve Kipner also wrote Chicago's massive Grammy winning hit, "Hard Habit to Break". Chicago performed this song in 1987 only. This is the only known PRO-shot footage of them performing this. Enjoy!

Chicago was asked in 1977 to appear in the film version of 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band', but their manager pulled the plug on it. Shortly thereafter, they pulled the plug on him. Earth, Wind & Fire took Chicago's place in the film and on the soundtrack. EWF had a huge hit with "Got To Get You Into My Life" in 1978. Enjoy!

This is some of the most beautiful footage ever shot of the band. This was their first-ever tour in Europe. The camera man had great access to the stage. I'm always thrilled to acquire any footage of the great Terry Kath. I have to give a great deal of thanks to a number of people for bringing this film home to the fans. Chicago- You Come To My Senses- (1991) ChicagoKid1969 2017-09-07 | Chicago performs "You Come To My Senses" on a popular American TV show. This song was the second single off of 'Chicago Twenty-1'. This is the only time this song was ever performed "live". It did very well on the Billboard AC Chart. There's a few rough spots in the vocal, but this is a very difficult song to sing. Remove a few errors and it actually came across quite well. Enjoy!
Bill Champlin & Friends- After The Love Has Gone (1983) ChicagoKid1969 2017-09-07 | This was recorded in L.A. in 1983. This is the only known live performance of this song that features all three songwriters. Bill Champlin (Chicago), David Foster (He's written and produced more hits than anyone) & Jay Graydon (A guitar whiz who appears on many hit records). This All-Star cast also features Tommy Funderburk (A top-notch studio vocal genius), Tamara Champlin (Bill's wife and a very talented vocalist) and Alan Thicke. Alan is most famous for his role on the TV sitcom 'Growing Pains'. It's worth noting that his son, Robin Thicke, is burning up the charts these days. Quite a group of talent on display here.The original version was recorded by Earth, Wind & Fire in 1979 and won several Grammy's. Enjoy!

It's a shame that the record company didn't film this event. It was the best selling live box set in history until Springsteen's 1985 set. This footage was recorded in Memphis, TN on July 28, 1988. It is the only known footage of the band's first leg of the 'Chicago 19' tour. You'll see how Chicago took the stage on this tour. YouTube is the best place I can think of to showcase it. The last time this was shown was December 31, 1969. It has been buried in a vault ever since. This was filmed on either December 8, 9 or 10th. Classic footage of the band on their first tour of Europe, promoting their first single off of their first album, 'Chicago Transit Authority'. "Questions 67 & 68" was written by Robert Lamm and was sung by Peter Cetera and Robert. Terry Kath is featured on guitar and the Chicago horns are amazing. Classic. Enjoy!

Chicago- Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? (1969) ChicagoKid1969 2017-09-07 | This is the oldest Chicago footage in the collection. It was recorded on August 31, 1969 (four months after their debut album was released). This was filmed at the Texas Motor Speedway in Lewisville, TX (just outside Dallas) as the band was participating in the Texas International Pop Festival. It's estimated that between 100,000-150,000 attended this 3 day festival. You'll notice that Walt Parazaider has a sub in this footage. This old hippie footage always had a tendency to have the video and the audio out of sync for "artistic purposes". I wish they hadn't done this, but it's still classic footage. Enjoy!

It's hard to imagine musicians coming on stage and tuning their own instruments. "Beginnings" is from Chicago's first album and it was written and sung by Robert Lamm. Enjoy!

It was remixed and included on their 20th album, 'Chicago's Greatest Hits 1982-1989'. In the UK, it was called, 'The Heart of Chicago'. This remix would prove to be a big hit. It hit number 5 on Billboard's singles chart without the benefit of a music video. There was no time to make one. This is about as close as you'll get to one. WKOMWIB was written by Bobby Caldwell, Chas Sanford & Jason Scheff. This is trivial, but the "electric" version of this song was only performed in 1990, the year it became a hit. With one exception, it was performed electric once in 1996. Otherwise, it was performed "acoustic" on the 1995 and 2000 tours. Too bad it isn't regularly in the band's set. Enjoy!
Chicago- Robert Lamm- Truman Mania (1975) ChicagoKid1969 2017-09-07 | This was seen on a nightly newscast April 13, 1975. America was feeling nostalgic in the wake of Watergate. Harry Truman had recently passed and was becoming the centerpiece for all of this nostalgia. Books, articles, plays, documentaries were flooding the stores and airwaves after his passing. Robert Lamm was inspired by this wave and contributed by writing the song "Harry Truman". It was a minor hit in the Summer of 1975 and can be found on the album 'Chicago VIII'. Trivia: You'll see actor James Whitmore in this clip. He's now 86 and is still one of the hardest working men in show business. He currently has a regular role on the CSI series. Enjoy!

"Back To You" was written by original band member Robert Lamm (Keyboards, Vocals) & the newest member Keith Howland (Guitar, Vocals). Keith has been in Chicago for 13 years. Oddly, That's longer than any previous Chicago guitarist, including the late Terry Kath. This song was released as a single off of 'Chicago 26: Chicago Live'. It had moderate success on the AC chart. Jimmy is famous for his playing, songwriting and arranging. However, Jimmy isn't necessarily known as a singer. In fact, this and "Till The End of Time" are the only two 'Chicago' songs he has ever sung. Regardless of his vocal abilities, it will be a fun addition to the new set. I'm looking forward to it.
