Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Revan The Game Boys 2021-09-24 | I swear its not my fault this time.I'd like to say that. I'd really like to say this is all Lachie's fault for changing the song at the last minute. But really I was just stubborn and wanted to beat the game in 2 days.Spoiler: It didn't happen.Apologies for yet another late video, this undertaking was way more demanding than I expected. However, 34 hours of gameplay later, it is finished.Lachie decided to stretch his creative muscles by taking a bunch of themes throughout the Old Republic series to create an arrangement for Revan. I discovered this game as probably most people did when I was doing my achievement run of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, and I was VERY pleasantly surprised. Ratchet & Clank - Metropolis Acoustic Cover The Game Boys 2021-06-02 | Hullo again.As if we had any free time as is playing Mass Effect, now we have to somehow set more aside to fit in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. It feels like its been too long since the last entry in one of our favourite series of all time, and as much as we've been loving Spider-Man, we're glad to see Insomniac step back into it. Hopefully it'll be as Quarktastic as always (I regret nothing)Anyways, enjoy our cover of 'Metropolis' from the original Ratchet and Clank game for the PS2! And send your prayers for Jack for having to endure possibly some of the most awkward guitar playing he's ever experienced.A note from the arranger:Note to self. Never arrange for ebow and slide again...At least with Destroy All Humans, it was all I really had to do. Swapping from ebow and slide to picked without slide was a real pain. There were a few lines that required me to only use two fingers. Hopefully Django is proud. Other than that, this piece was a blast to put together. Such a classic, and the parts are all very present and clearly audible, meaning it was a pretty easy translation. I was surprised to see how much the piece revolves around 3 parts compared to others in that era, and made arranging it fairly simple. Hopefully there's more of that in the future! Mass Effect 2 - Suicide Mission Acoustic Cover The Game Boys 2021-05-18 | The mission to end all missions (assuming you do it wrong anyway).The three of us are all big Mass Effect fans, and the recent remaster in the form of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition had us all pretty hyped, so we put together a cover of the theme for one of the most tense, epic and (potentially) emotional missions in gaming, 'Suicide Mission' from Mass Effect 2.So strap yourselves in and say goodbye to your favourite squad mates as we see how bad this gets! Oh and enjoy the cover or something I guess.A note from the arranger:Orchestral arrangements are always a challenge, but this one was actually surprisingly simple comparatively! The biggest arranging decision I made was ringing out the ostinato lines using open strings to make them have a washier, brighter sound, given we don't have the benefit of synths to create the sounds we want.Guitar 3 was probably the most challenging here. It had to cover the overall chords to create drive, while also tackling the bass line which was rarely as simple as root notes and inversions, sometimes even doubling the melody, and then later it had to handle a countermelody as well! Poor Jack, may your poor destroyed fingers rest in pieces.- Lachie

Undertale - Heartache (Toriels Theme) Acoustic Cover The Game Boys 2021-04-19 | Puns aside, we had a bad time with this one...The Undertale soundtrack is awesome, and we really love this track amongst any other great songs. But boy, was this rough to play! We hope you enjoy our pain as we (really just Lachie) fight our way through this gem of a piece, 'Heartache' (Toriel's Theme) from Undertale, by Toby Fox! Our hearts can't help but hurt a little every time we fight this boss...A note from the arranger:Well this one was not easy! The bass line in the track has a lot of massive leaps between notes and goes at a relentless pace, plus the very big horn-like sounds are quite hard to emulate on the guitars. On top of all that, there are lots of subtle harmonies in the middle parts that were super hard to hear.Keep an eye out for hybrid picking, string skips and finger rolls in Lachie's bass part, a very tricky chord melody in Jack's middle part, and some unusual rhythms and fast double stops in the middle section of the melody!- Lachie
Monster Hunter World - Stars at our Backs (Main Theme) Acoustic Cover The Game Boys 2021-03-31 | Hullo friends,This one worked out quite well. Jack caught up with an old friend a few weeks back, who kindly requested a cover from Monster Hunter World. Conveniently, Monster Hunter Rise came out recently, so that was a nice bit of good timing.This was our first venture into Monster Hunter, and so far, we can definitely see our brief look into the game turning into hundreds of hours of gameplay. It definitely has that make about it.So sit back, grab the largest, most obnoxious weapon you can find around the house, and enjoy our cover of 'Stars at our Backs' from Monster Hunter World!also more suggestions pls thnx baiA note from the arranger:No more orchestral pieces pls. Just kidding, this is probably up there with our Fire Emblem covers for me as one of my favourites I've done. Orchestral pieces typically allow so much room for creating interesting parts for the guitar, to attempt to tackle all the depth that comes with those pieces. This song was much more relaxed a lot of the time than I was anticipating. Some sections even had a Disney vibe to it, hahaha! All the same, this was a challenge, but also a fun arrangement to put together. Definitely felt as epic as I was hoping, and pretty proud of how it turned out! -Jack

Thanks for the suggestion!A note from the arranger:Yikes this was more challenging than I expected hahahaha. I love the percussive nature of the track. A lot of the melody I put into the early portions of the arrangement are originally pitched percussive melodies. I wanted to keep that same momentum and the percussive rhythm present throughout the whole composition, so my part was almost purely percussion. I think I play maybe 8 'notes' in the entire piece. Luckily, percussive playing is what I'm most used to (if you've watched most of our other videos you've seen this plenty). Otherwise, I mostly stitched together the different versions of this track that play throughout the game based on where you are. I love the adaptive soundtrack in this game, very cool feature!
