This easily took a good 18 hours of work to transcribe, and it was definitely one of my most complex transcriptions. The original was composed by Daniel Ingram for the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic episode, "One Bad Apple" (s03e04).
Enjoy the first proper MIDI transcription of this song!

It's been many years since I last created a MIDI version of a song. For the last few days, I put together this arrangement of the Trainer Battle theme from Pokémon Scarlet & Violet by ear. It's quite catchy and may get stuck in your head.
I may or may not make a Mario Paint rendition. It depends on my mood.

This is my edit of the Pokérap GS, but with all the Pokémon that won't appear in Sword/Shield edited out. I actually had the idea to make this back when the whole “Dexit” debacle got started, but a few folks beat me to the punch on the original Kanto Pokérap. It starts getting really bad in the third verse.
It's time for more Mario Paint Composer, and this time it's from the popular third-person shooter, Fortnite. This is the original theme from Seasons 1 and 2 of the popular Battle Royale mode.
Also, Drift is the best skin. :)Night in the Woods: “Die Anywhere Else” Mario Paint ComposerCat333Pokémon2018-04-21 | Turn on closed captions for lyrics!
It's time for more Mario Paint Composer! Today's song is from the indie classic, Night in the Woods. It's the first song from band practice, “Die Anywhere Else,” recreated using Mario Paint Composer.
Hey everyone! This is one of the catchiest songs from Donkey Kong 64, the "Monkey Smash" multiplayer battle theme. Gather up a few friends and have an old-fashioned simian brawl! Like usual, I made this one with Mario Paint Composer.Pokémon Sun/Moon: Trainer Battle Mario Paint ComposerCat333Pokémon2017-03-14 | It is time for another new work! This time, it's the Trainer Battle theme from Pokémon Sun and Moon! I used Mario Paint Composer, an imitation of the Mario Paint music sequencer in the original SNES game.

Hey, it's time for another Mario Paint Composer song! This particular one is from Pokémon Sun and Moon. It's the Wild Pokémon Battle theme, which I'm sure many of you have heard constantly these last few days. Enjoy!
Mario Paint Composer is a PC/Mac remake of the music composing function in the SNES game, Mario Paint.
I had to use a MIDI file for this one. Oh, hey, I found another old Nokia at a garage sale. This is the Nokia 3595, one of the first to support MIDI (four notes at once maximum), as well as one of the first with a color screen. It's about two years older than the 3120b that I showed in previous videos. This phone still works on modern networks, too.
However, this time, I decided to modify my previous MIDI of Babs Seed and stick it on it. Sound pretty decent in my opinion. Merry Christmas, everypony!
What's this?! Something that's NOT from Black/White or its sequel? Yep, it's Littleroot Town from Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald! "In the year 20XX, Nyan goes adventure!!!!!"
Nyan Cat Adventure, available for 340 MSP (Microsoft Points) on Xbox Live Indie Games, is a bit...trippy, to say the least. You get a choice of various memetic cats (and a couple other animals) to go on an adventure through various formats of gameplay. I must say that I had no idea what to expect when I downloaded the demo, but I definitely think it was worth the price to play and show you folks this weird game.

This is my first YouTube test video of my AVerMedia AVerTV HD DVR and CE Labs AV400COMP video distribution amplifier. For this test, I'm just showing off a small sampling of glitches from the original Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Yes, I know this looks like it was recorded from an emulator, but it's from the actual console. Read the technical details below for more information on my settings.
Glitches shown: Double jump (poorly) Music cutout Passing through blocks (multiple times) Entering the Minus World Navigating the Minus World Swim-ducking pseudo-invincibility
Original encode settings: 6 min, 33 sec 97.5 MB MPEG-4 container VIDEO: H.264/AVC @ 480i60 High@L4.1 profile 2,000 kbps average bitrate 640x480 screen resolution (sides cropped from original 720x480) 8:7 display aspect ratio (to match raw NES 256x224 ratio) MBAFF, interlaced top field first scan YUV 4:2:0 colorspace/chroma subsampling 29.97 fps AUDIO: AAC low complexity (LC) CBR 80 kbps 1 channel (mono) 48 kHz
Originally captured as DV-AVI NTSC.
This is only the first of a series of tests with this capture card. Expect some HD stuff soon. Halo 3 @ 1080i (interlacing is awful, but when the game actually runs at 30 fps, you don't get any interlacing or lose quality compared with 1080p :P), Minecraft 360 Demo @ 720p, possibly some Wii games at 480p, most likely at 480i, and various other 480i systems like the NES, SNES, and N64. SD videos are captured in DV-AVI NTSC before conversion to H.264. HD videos are captured in Pegasus Imaging's PICVideo MJPEG before conversion to H.264. Bitrate settings vary and are dependent upon the content. (Super Smash Bros. Brawl, for instance, will have a much higher bitrate than PokéPark Wii, even though both would be captured at the same resolution.)
If you want to purchase the capture card and distribution amplifier for your own computer, expect to pay about $180 US.
Well, I caved in and remixed something from Black/White 2: one of the few songs I had actually heard without needing to spoil anything new. It's the funky Rival Battle...except in a salsa style, showing quite a mix of brass, saxophones, a marimba, and a guitar, with a variety of percussive instruments thrown in. I think it sounds pretty good and may just make you want to dance. ;)Winter Wrap Up in MS-DOS QBASICCat333Pokémon2012-04-29 | This one is for all you fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. From the episode by the same name (episode 1-11), Winter Wrap Up is about a literal clearing up of the wintertime and preparing Ponyville for spring, which must be done in one day every year. The song itself starts at 0:40.
I decided it was about time to make another MS-DOS remix, this time of a My Little Pony: FIM song. There was a fair bit of kludging to make things work, and a lot of spamming the PLAY command, but I think it came out well. When finished, I compiled it and wrote it to a boot floppy.
With many thanks to @utuber6061 for arranging the epic new Rival Battle song, I've extended it to approximately the length of one CD. Hope you enjoy it!
Original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H81OlYWr9doAlbatross in Kinect Sports: Season TwoCat333Pokémon2012-01-22 | I was playing Kinect Sports: Season Two again with my friends. This time, KingOfKYA, the Victory Road server administrator, managed to sink an albatross (three strokes under par), which is almost unheard of happening in actual golf. Pretty amazing luck in my opinion.
I'm not really a fan of how there is actually a minimum swing in this game. It's a bit unrealistic, as you can most definitely tap the driver (1 wood) in real golf and hit the ball only a couple feet.
Check out my site: lycanroc.netHow not to make an 8-bit remixCat333Pokémon2012-01-03 | While GXSCC is capable of producing decent-sounding music, many people tend to misuse it and create very poor sounding "8-bit" "remixes" without any knowledge of the NES, SCC, Atari 800, or any other 8-bit register audio systems. Many of them are greatly out of tune, and some are even unrecognizable. I highly suggest would-be remixers to use FamiTracker or other accurate emulation systems. If you must use GXSCC, please learn what you're dealing with first!
I've been dying to make this video for almost four years, and I think it's about time I do.
Check out my site: lycanroc.netFM MIDI Theater: Pokémon BW: Gym Leader BattleCat333Pokémon2011-12-29 | Hm, I wonder if anyone will like this new series...
This is what the standard General MIDI synthesizer sounded like before everyone had wavetable synthesis. It is referred to as frequency modulation (FM) synthesis. Similar to 16-bit game consoles like the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis (Mega Drive), it functioned by modulating (drawing) the sound waves instead of playing back recorded sounds. The earliest sound cards that had onboard MIDI often sounded like what you hear in this video. This is not an emulator.

Today's is the Subway Trainer Battle from Pokémon Black/White and it isn't using any imitation GXSCC! Instead, it's FamiTracker and VirtuaNES, playing the file at the link below. Now, this one isn't purely NES standards. I enabled the Nintendo MMC5 expansion chip for two addition square audio channels beyond the standard two (plus standard triangle, noise, and PCM). Enjoy!
(As for Minecraft videos, I probably won't be uploading many more.)
Craftfont is a unique new SoundFont that allows you to easily hear how your MIDI files would sound were they assembled with note blocks in Minecraft.
For the beginners, just set the automatic split preset and percussion, and you're good to go. For the more experienced musicians, you can easily set the appropriate sounds from the bank, mind the limitations (two octaves starting and ending on F#), and adjust your tracks' notation appropriately.
Included as well is a demonstration MP3 of Route 101 from Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald.
THIS SOUNDFONT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MARIO PAINT COMPOSER (yet).
Please don't use this SoundFont for any dubious reasons. Copyrights belong to Mojang AB, C418, and Notch.Dont Stop Me Now - Nokia (with Lyrics)Cat333Pokémon2011-09-06 | Happy Birthday, Freddie Mercury!
This is my tribute to his birthday. I'm sure many of you already saw the Google logo. Well, that inspired me to go through and synchronize the lyrics to a MIDI of the song (if anyone knows the sequencer, please let me know), all on the Nokia 3120b. I also did some audio editing to split the tracks to stereo. So sit back, and enjoy Queen's Don't Stop Me Now, one of their most famous songs, on some old tech with lo-fi sound.
Check out my site: http://www.lycanroc.netSuper Mario Bros. 2 (Lost Levels) - Infinite Lives = Game Over (Cats VHS Rewind)Cat333Pokémon2011-08-18 | Hey look, this one has an intro! This is my second little episode in the Cat's VHS Rewind series. This time we look at Super Mario Bros. 2, often referred to as The Lost Levels. This is not to be confused with the other Super Mario Bros. 2, called Super Mario USA in Japan, which is a modification of Doki Doki Panic.
Anyway, the glitch shown here is where getting more than 127 lives results in a death. The technical reason is that the lives are stored as a signed 8-bit integer, which has a range of -128 to 127. When the value overflows, it loops around to negative. The game checks if lives are greater than 0 at death, and if not, game over. This also occurs in the original Super Mario Bros.
Check out my site: http://www.lycanroc.netCheating the Nintendo 3DS PedometerCat333Pokémon2011-08-13 | DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGED NINTENDO 3DS SYSTEMS OR PHONOGRAPHS FROM ATTEMPTING THIS. THIS VIDEO IS ONLY FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES AND IS NOT INTENDED TO REPLACE EXERCISE.
Hey look, I've got a 3DS! Thanks to Wal-Mart's early price drop, I was able to get one at the lower price with the free games (Ambassador program).
Well, I decided to see if the same trick worked on the pedometer as with the Pokéwalkers and it seems like it does. Due to the system's far greater mass, you are highly recommended to supervise the project instead of letting it run in the background.
To do this, apply a generous amount of tape, avoiding the sensitive screens, to the system on a regular platter size phonograph that can be stood on its side. Be sure the system's bottom is facing the outside edge. Set the phonograph's speed to the maximum allowed. 78 RPM is recommended. Turn the phonograph on. Once it starts spinning, tilt it at 90°. You should hold it in this position and monitor it until finished.
Reasons this may fail:
- Your phonograph's motor may not be powerful enough.
- You may have oriented the system incorrectly or placed it too close to the center of the phonograph.
- You may not have tilted the phonograph enough.
- Your system may not be powered on. The pedometer only works while the system is on and in sleep mode (screen closed).

Hey, it's time for another Mario Paint video. I haven't done a proper one of these in quite a while, so I decided it's about time to actually throw one together in Mario Paint Composer (an imitation of the SNES's Mario Paint, available on PC and Mac). This is my first proper song in almost two years!
It's the (Friendly) Rival Battle from Pokémon Black and White. Hope everyone has been enjoying Cheren and Bianca popping up every route and forcing you to battle! The video and audio are a little out of sync. Sorry about that.Portal 2: Want You Gone on MS-DOS with LyricsCat333Pokémon2011-06-25 | Alright, I got a bit bored and decided to whip out QBasic again for the first time in a while (well, I have a few unreleased ones) and remix a more familiar song: Want You Gone, the ending credits theme from Portal 2.
If GLaDOS really was put into a potato, I'm sure this is what she would sound like. There wouldn't be very much room for an audio processor, just some beeps and bloops through the PC speaker like classic MS-DOS could do before people discovered how to use PCM with it.
So yeah, this took about 8 hours, including getting the notes together and synchronizing them to the words. I even had to write a little subroutine to make the text come out like in the game. Even the colors match, but you might not be able to see the pale yellow in this.

This video is mostly just filler but kind of a commemoration of the original video getting a Nyan Cat progress bar.
I'll have to admit now that the music actually uses very, very similar sound techniques employed by the NES due to the complexity of actually importing the sound into the ROM.

You're probably looking at this and thinking "...What? Pokémon Black and White on the Game Boy Color?" In fact, looking at the thumbnail made you probably think it was just a remix of the Wild Pokémon Battle with a few quick seconds of GIMP work thrown in.
Well, it is real. With many thanks going to Koolboyman, maker of Pokémon Brown and Prism, I present to you the entire Route 2 of Pokémon Black/White in Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal.
Sorry for my 20,000 subscriber special coming out so late, but it was quite a bit of work for the two of us to make this. Music remixing, sprite devamping, and audio editing by me, with everything else by Koolboyman.

Before you watch, sorry about the weird popping. Apparently, my camera's microphone doesn't like my subwoofer, so there is a weird popping sound every time there is significant bass. (And yay for taking 8 hours to upload!)
I took advantage of two things in this video: over 15 minute uploads and a much nicer than before multi-CD changing stereo. I go through all of the game's tracks and explain what some of them are while commenting on others. I found that the soundtrack was a worthwhile purchase.
CD scans: http://www.lycanroc.net/gallery/?g=cdPokémon Emerald: Walk on Water GlitchCat333Pokémon2011-01-08 | This video was recorded with a Game Boy Player and GameCube using a Japanese copy of Pokémon Emerald. No hacking or cheat devices were used. This works in all versions of Pokémon Emerald. Multiple users have confirmed that this works in Ruby and Sapphire as well.
A little Dive glitch will allow you to surface in an area with land rather than water. In front of the cave with the submarine below Route 128, pound the B button while trying to enter it. If you do it right, you'll be asked to surface on a rock. You can then walk (and bike) around on the water while fighting both trainers and wild Pokémon. You cannot go up waterfalls while walking on water.
Credit goes to @warriorsrussetfur123 for telling me about this glitch. Please excuse the fuzziness, particularly at the beginning, as this was indeed recorded on a VHS tape.
