Jumbo: New York City (Metro Card Classic) jumbo 2025-09-16 | I like New York. I always have fun there, but… It’s different. I would describe it as “casually aggressive.” Perfect I guess, because we’re here for an aggressive skating event.What a weird term, for what we do. “Aggressive skating.”This event was the one I was most excited about this year. For some reason or another, I’ve missed every Metro Card Classic until this one. I’ve only gotten to skate in New York one time, for 2 days in 2019. So I decided to spend a few more days there than necessary. I wanted to film the event, of course, but I know there’s going to be 10 other edits of it. I really wanted to capture “the trip.” That’s what’s most important to me. It always is. The event is the big reason to get us there. The time, memories and what we’ll carry with us will happen before during and after it as well. So why just only film the event? It was a whirlwind of a weekend. We accidentally stayed out til 4am every night. I think we clocked about 100 miles a day on skates, which I'm not ever going to be ready for. I knew I was going to be skating around from spot to spot, yet I chose to bring a brand new pair of skates to break in... Terrible decision. The first day was fun. Showed up in the afternoon, met up with Heath at Clockwork and watched him warm up for the first time in 3 months on some weird fence. Watched Jeremy's video "Reverse Halo" until later into the night. Sorry to everyone that was around for the Sardine party.... I'm not going to explain it. The next day I got to meet up with some of the NYC crew, Cavin from Plastic Pushers, Cameron Talbott and Mick. The spot? A dog park roof.... Perfect. I honestly didn't film a lot of the skating, because I know Cavin is trying to wrap up his project. But I'm happy with what we got on film, even if it is mostly just messing around and "leftovers" (no such thing). Aside from the first day, the elements didn't want us to succeed. It rained. Often. I know that they had to cancel the first days events for the Metro Card, so that made the next day suuuuper tight, time-wise. But really? I think it just made the event run more efficiently. Rollerblade events have a custom of letting the rounds go for way longer than necessary. "Alright everyone, who wants to give him one more try after 12 failed attempts??!!" ^^ That's usually the vibe. So I'd say it was a success. From what I can tell, everyone got to compete, everyone had fun, no one went to the hospital (to my knowledge). Chaotic. No sleep. Maxing out fun until I hit a wall.... The shoey out of our skates was wretched. Shout out to everyone involved for keeping it rolling. Shout out to Austin for showing me quality pizza. Jumbo: Windy City Riot jumbo 2025-08-05 | I took a few weeks to get this one out, so I'm sure everyone has already seen the footage. Regardless, I still wanted to pay the event the respect it deserves and post yet another cut of the Windy City Riot onto youtube. I'd never been to Chicago before this trip. It wasn't until I got there that I realized I didn't know hardly anything about the city. I'd hear things in passing. That it had a higher than average murder rate, that their pizza was more like a cake and a few other pop culture references. Nothing that really painted the picture for me. I was shocked to see how much I'd been missing when I got there. I could rant for longer than I want to about the food, the architecture, the history, but to keep things short, I just want to talk about the people. We're going to a rollerblading event, so I expected the average pleasantries, but this was over the top. That entire scene is an absolute treasure. Jeff, Chris and Pato didn't just run an event, they ran an experience. It's not well captured in the edit, because I'm really just filming mostly skating, but the entire weekend in and around the event we were shown such a great time. Charter bus from spot to spot? Check. Beverages covered for the entire day all weekend? Check. Welcoming energy and excitement to have you be around, not just the session, but the hangouts? Check. It didn't feel like we were just there for an event. It felt like we were visiting old friends. They can claim that title now, haha. I don't want to bore everyone with the mush, but I felt that it needed to be written, on the record, because I'm just that pleased with the Chicago crew... Man. Anyways, the event happened. There were grinds and gaps, it was fun. High energy. Well run. You'll see that enough in the edit. I like to travel to events, not so much for the event itself, but to be a part of the skating community. That's always what I hope to connect with. The weeks prior to this, I'd been a little down in the dumps about skating. "What am I doing this for?" "Is this worth the time and the effort I'm putting into it?" etc...If you're ever feeling this way, I'd suggest attending whatever event is happening in or around your area. Hell, even if it's not close, give yourself the reason to travel. It changed my attitude back to normal. Thank you Chicago. Jumbo: Houston AMs only contest (Blade Hunter) jumbo 2025-05-18 | In the modern era the term "pro" is pretty vague. It used to be easy to distinguish between amateur and pro, but something changed around the early 2010's. Maybe it was the retiring of the old guard, that had held the pro positions for well over a decade (or more). The fall of the team video and the rise of a thousand different small brands that had their own local pro's. It probably also has something to do with there no longer being a trusted place that would highlight and define what our community should recognize as the top of the game (Daily Bread, Videogroove, etc). With all of that being said, some of my friends in Houston wanted to throw an "AM's only" contest. I'm under the impression that there's probably only 50 real pro's worldwide as is, but I understood the idea. It was to motivate a particular part of our scene. Not the same group of guys that have been competing off and on for 20 years, but the newcomers. Whatever skill level you have, "amateur contest" means we're starting from the ground up. All are welcome. That's really cool. I know what you're thinking, "don't other contests already do that?"Some, yes. But it's usually the day before the pro contest or really early. It's never the sole focus. I think that differentiation is important. I didn't really know what to expect. I knew a lot of the usual crew wasn't going to go. Was there actually going to be a good turn out? I was really surprised to see so many newcomers (or back-to-bladers) to the sport when I arrived the next day. Here I was, thinking I'd met everyone already in our scene in Texas. I wasn't even close. A majority of the group were from around Houston, which made sense because it was promoted as more of a local contest. But a lot of people traveled several hours to meet up. The contest was actually pretty competitive. 95% of the competitors were at a similar skill range, so even without Haffey-level stunts, it was still exciting to watch. My main goal was just to be there to support the next generation. I hate filming contests, but I really wanted to film this one. I want these guys to get some shine. ..... Jumbo: 4 the Streets - Denver (episode 37) jumbo 2025-05-11 | Me and Mick have been traveling back and forth to meet each other the past few months. Jumbo: 4 the Streets (episode 36) jumbo 2025-04-14 | Every time I watch a new video nowadays I always say "flat ledge" out loud anytime there is a clip on a flat ledge. I do that because the amount of flat ledge clips in videos today are at an all time high. I'm not hating on flat ledges, they're my favorite thing to skate (damn near the only thing I can skate). I do it to kind of just make fun of modern skating. You know how "OG's" are notorious for saying things like "nO oNe DoEs HaMmErS aNyMoRe?" I'm saying in a tone similar to that. Anyways, all we did was skate flat ledges this day. It was awesome. I loved it. But also...... "flat ledge!" More flat ledge clips. Might as well filmed at a skatepark while we were at it, haha. I'm laughing as I type stuff like that, don't read into it negatively. I actually didn't film a whole lot because I was having so much fun skating the spots. Jumbo 2024 jumbo 2025-01-08 | I think 2024 was my favorite year of skating ever. I never expected I'd be saying something like that as I'm so close to turning 40. I had a thousand clips I could have added to this compilation, but I decided to keep it a little shorter and sweeter. I didn't even necessarily add the best clips, just the ones I liked. Especially at the end... I tried not to include anything from Gigantic, as that was a bunch of footage that I had already edited to music. Same goes for Heaths section earlier this year. I also didn't throw in too much (if any) competition footage. Wild year though for sure. Winterclash. Blade Cup. Barcelona. I filmed the Gigantic video. Showed the Standard team around Austin. Started a podcast. Posted an audiobook (lol), released some soft and wheels (available at Oak City skateshop). All together we released 24 videos. Not a bad year. Cheers to 2025. Jumbo: Wednesday Sessions jumbo 2025-01-03 | New years day also happened to fall on our weekly session day. "Weenie Wednesday." We used to actually meet up and grill. It wasn't originally a skating thing at all.. But then one day someone brought a p-rail to the cookout. And here we are, about 10 or so years later. Still meeting up on Wednesdays. It's also almost Jumbos two year anniversary, so I thought it was fitting to take it back to where I did my first video for it. I explain most of why I wanted to film here again in the beginning of the video. Jumbo: 4 the Streets (episode 34) jumbo 2024-11-25 | This was a fun day. I actually filmed this a couple of weeks ago, but after making that 45 minute blade cup video, I wanted to take a break. Really, I wanted to take a break and not even film this weekend... Buuuut, my friend Freddy White was in town visiting for the week so I forced myself to push past the laziness and have productive fun for the weekend. The first spot was surprisingly slick. I can't believe all of my younger years of skating were spent not knowing what a rub brick was. It really does change everything. Every potentially lame spot can be transformed into a premium ledge if you spend just a little time bricking/lacquering it. I wish someone would have told me that when I was younger. So if you're reading this right now and thinking to yourself "I've never rub bricked a ledge," let this be the motivation to go buy one and give it a shot. The second spot in this one was an abandoned pool. My crew barely skates ramps, so we were already setup for failure at this spot, haha. It was fun regardless. Just surviving carving around the thing was a trick. I know when you see it on film it looks super chill and built like a skatepark but... It wasn't. The last spot a lot of tricks went down, but between me not being able to film Michael all day (thanks Michael) and trying to not get in the way of Ant filming for his video, I didn't film that much. Overall, productive day. Some days, just leaving the house can feel productive. Jumbo: Blading Cup jumbo 2024-11-12 | Oh boy, blade cup. It's been years since I've been to one. Me and the crew usually pick one major event to all mob each year. Blade cup with this years pick. Well, I say "the whole crew," but usually 80% of them bail once plane tickets start being purchased. This however wasn't the case this weekend. It was the first time I've seen so many of my close friends actually bite the bullet and come out to a blading event. Even if the goal wasn't to skate in it, just to be around it. I loved it. We talked about it all weekend, how important it was to be present at the very few moments we all have to gather en masse. What was even more impressive, was seeing some of my friends that haven't entered a competition (in some cases, in twenty years!) participate in the event. I won't ramble on too much about the event itself, because the video covers the most of it, but I do want to touch on a few key points that may not be too obvious. In the middle of the event, my lens broke and I had to scramble to a camera store and buy a new one. Thank you Kirill and Labez for helping me through all of that. I ended up missing a large chunk of the veterans and pro events because of that. So yes... There's a lot of phone clips in this one. What I was focused on this year was the Bladies event. For those of you that aren't familiar with that term, it's the womans event. I was focused on it because every time I go to an event, I end up having some sort of mishap that causes me to be unable to film it. That happened at Winterclash, FMI, Carriers, etc... So I really went out of my way to make sure that my batteries were charged and I was on schedule for once. I wasn't disappointed. I think the female side of our sport is really starting to ramp up. The amount of participation, level and overall vibe was super high this weekend. The pro event ended up getting rained out, which was a bit of a damper. But they did hold a bonus event the day after that coincided with the Brandon Negrete Memorial event. Which was awesome but... Somehow I didn't get the memo that it was happening. I had made plans with my California family to meet up that Sunday, so I ended up missing it. Which I normally could have been ok with, but Mick won! Man! I wish I would have been there for that. But oh well... I'm sure there's going to be many more moments like that to look forward to. If you're still reading, make it a point to try and get out to an event this year. Even if you're brand new, you don't know anyone there, it doesn't matter. It's waaay too easy to make friends and feel a part of the event when you're at these things. The more the merrier. Give yourself a reason to travel. You're good enough. You're not too old. Whatever it is that you've got in your head, don't listen to it. Come out and be a part of rollerblading. Jumbo: 4 the Streets (episode 33) jumbo 2024-10-14 | It has to be the heat that's been getting to us. A lot of the squad was out of town, dealing with work obligations, life obligations, etc... But we still came out for the hottest October day in decades. The first spot is fun, but the wood is so grippy. I'm surprised the bees didn't attack us with how much we were shaking that small bridge. I don't know how Ant skates under rails like they're simple. Every time I've ever tried to skate one, the rest of my body is in the way. I'm always hip checking myself or getting tangled up after missing topsides. I won't lie to yall. This one is a little short because a majority of the day was falling. It was so much, so frequent, that I deleted about 75% of my card while editing it. That's not uncommon. A lot of clips don't make it past the cutting room floor but.... This day was definitely rough for us. A weeks break might be in order. Reset. Recharge. Jumbo: How to Fishbrain jumbo 2024-10-05 | "It's the little things that make a big difference." I've been talking about making this fishbrain video for years. There's so many different elements to this trick that make it hard to perfect, but they're unsung. A proper fishbrain is something we take for granted. It's the go-to trick for almost every photo. It's more complicated than it looks. I discuss it in the video, so I won't rant about it here, but with every fishbrain there's at least 8-10 different movements that have to go right for it to work out. Jumbo: 4 the Streets (episode 31) jumbo 2024-09-30 | Massive shoutout to my homie Randy for wanting to make an appearance at the end. We're back!... Sort of. We're off to a start. Not a good start, just a start. Michael has been gone all summer, so it was nice to see him again. Anthony has been in Europe. Some of the squad was in Oklahoma. And we have some new faces as well. Overall, it was a good day. I'm happy to see the crew back together again. Was very high, mellow handicap rails the best idea for a first spot?... No. Was the abandoned building any better? No. That's fine. I just wanted to get back in the groove. I had been stressed to start working on this project again. I had all of these wild ideas over the summer. Jumbo: 4 the Streets (episode 30) jumbo 2024-07-15 | We're finally back to having normal sessions. I feel like it's been months since I could just go out for a normal Saturday session with no bigger project in mind. It's nice to have most of everything wrapped up for the summer. This session was a bit of a mess though. Our first 2 spots were complete busts. Me and Caleb had gone out of our way to wake up extra early to beat the heat. We'd met up at 8am, drove 30 minutes away to a warm up spot and were busted within 5 minutes. It was just me him and Anthony for the few couple of hours as well... I didn't think I was even going to be able to make anything with my lack of turn out. Finally Heath rolled up and the party started. First spot was a perfect rock. Jagged, unwaxed, multiple block-on-the-ground run up. Tailor made for skating. It actually was fun though. What wasn't fun was the 7 different spots we tried to skate to no avail. Finally, we ended up a covered ledge. Thank goodness too, because it started raining. We made the best of it, that's really all you can do. As I say at the end of the video, thank you to everyone that reached out to us and bought some of the shirts/wheels/books. It's sooo sick to see it all in real life. Jumbo: Standard Skate Co Weekend (episode 29) jumbo 2024-06-09 | The Standard team came to visit this past week from Thursday-Sunday. When Stefan had brought this up to me a couple of months ago I had warned him, " you need to come before summer. It's impossible to skate after June." Working though scheduling conflicts, somehow we got everyone in the same place for a few days here in Austin, TX. The goal was to just film a regular "4 the streets" weekend. That's a normal weekend for me, but I knew they had just made their intro edit and were still in a "stack real clips" mindset. I kept having to reiterate things like, "hey, this isn't the Standard Intro video, this is vacation." "No, we don't need to hurry and stack more clips, lets eat a sandwich and skate this tree branch."I love the motivation though. Sometimes I need a push in the other direction as well. I think we found a good balance. Four days in a row is a long time to film, so this is an extra long cut of the entire trip. I had considered making it into parts, like how I did with our Barcelona thing, but some days didn't have enough of what I look for in a project like this. The first day for instance. It's not a natural thing to open a door for someone and have them immediately start filming your initial greeting. In fact, that's just weird. I'm weird. But it's a part of the process. Overall, this weekend was a success for me. I love when people want to come visit. I'm happy that a team wanted to come be a part of a Jumbo. I guess that's enough ranting for now. Jumbo Presents: Heath Burley jumbo 2024-05-13 | Me and Heath have been working on fimling a part since before we ever started "Jumbo." Clips don't come easy though, so it's taken a while to get this one together. We also both don't like to just go out and film any old trick. The spot has to be right.Things have to "click." It's not as easy as, "lets just go to the ledge down the street and stack a bunch of tricks we can do." I feel like, because of social media, we're all a little desensitized when it comes to watching skating. So when you're trying to put out a full part, there has to be something that separates the spot from just another run of the mill social media post. There aren't any 900's in this video, but there are truck grinds, bricks, rocks and a lot of shingles. It's just effort. Life in the moment. Jumbo: Last day in Barcelona (episode 28) jumbo 2024-04-21 | It's the last day here and our dreams of filming a full length video (what's that even mean anymore) are slowly fading. It turns out that it's hard to do that in five days. But regardless, we tried. After the day we had previously, this one was welcomed. Everyone got a clip. Every spot was manageable (except that stupid bank to underbar). We keep saying "it's the last day of the trip," throughout the video, but really only Caleb, Heath and Mick were leaving for Amsterdam. Me, Zach and Michael were going to stay for another day or two, just to take a break from filming (still filmed though) and actually enjoy the city. I won't rant super long in this description, because I already wrote a short book on the trip that'll be coming soon. We've got a lot of stuff coming soon. I'm excited to release it all. Jumbo: Barcelona Day 4 (episode 27) jumbo 2024-04-08 | I think this was the hardest and worst day of the trip. That being said, it was still a good day. We had fun and all, we ventured deeper into the city, got a little lost, but the stress of everyday travel/filming hit a few of us.For an entire day of mentally and physically striking out, I'm just happy we got anything done. I was pretty gung ho on waking up early so we could do some touristy stuff after the session, but to my surprise everyone just wanted to skate. Which is fine, it's the purpose of the trip, but I still tried to sneak in some site-seeing destinations along the way. I tried to get Zach to review some of the food (didn't happen). I tried to skate (didn't happen). We tried. You don't always come through with a banger, but for this being what I consider the worst day of the trip (for reasons not pertaining to skating), I think it came out fine... Apparently this was the day my car got wrecked outside of my house while I was away. I won't go into too much detail about that, because we're going to drop a book about the trip after we're done.. But yeah. We did something, at least. Jumbo: Barcelona Day 2 (episode 25) jumbo 2024-03-18 | Texas is a big state. A lot of things here are very spread out. Not a lot of cities have good public transportation so you have to drive to most places if you want to get anything done. That's what we do when we skate, we drive from spot to spot. That is NOT what people do in Barcelona and we were ill prepared for it. The first day, we took it at our own pace, just bopped around the neighborhood and skated whatever we saw. The second day, we met up with dudes from all over the place. And we skated... and skated. and skated. I clocked as many miles on skates as I was doing when I was 14 before I had a car. Which was great, an amazing way to view the city and honestly really fun.Buuuuut... Incredibly taxing if you're not accustomed to it. Somehow we survived and still had the energy to skate the spots. First spot was absolute ice. Not sure what that ground was made out of, but it was impossibly slick. It was also a skatepark, which is rare for us to skate. We left quickly. Lomax took us to the second spot expecting us to skate these line ledges, but as things happen we found a trampoline, a couple of gutter spots and a broken down ol' bench to skate. I dunno, the whole day was good. Eating fresh oranges out of the tree. Taking a side quest to see the ocean. Getting lost and dodging the rain. Thank you Immony for helping me film from time to time. If anyone hear has heard of Orange wheel company, that's his. The dudes cool and I've got nothing but respect. So if you see those wheels, it's always a good idea to support our real ones. Jumbo: Barcelona Day 1 (episode 24) jumbo 2024-03-11 | After Winterclash, me and the boys traveled to Barcelona for a week to skate. This was day 1.It was rough. No tour guide, no real plan, just stumbling into spots. But, luckily we're not spoiled with spots, so anything is pretty fun. I feel like you always see a lot of the same spots when people film in Barcelona, so I was excited to maybe look at some old spots with a fresh take on it. Pretty sure the first building we skated was skated by Danny Beer, so the escalator was off limits.But I'm pretty sure the gap to gutter is untapped... I dunno. It's a safe assumption to assume that everything we touched has been thoroughly destroyed. Who knows. The next spot was basically a skatepark, which I think is a first for one of our "4 the streets" things, but that's ok. Jumbo: Winterclash 2024 jumbo 2024-02-26 | I've always wanted to go to a Winterclash. For as long as it's been happening, I remember there's some old video where Jon Elliott says "If you haven't been to Winterclash, you're not even rollerblading," or something like that.Definitely not an exact quote, but you get the gist. You have to see it to understand it. I came in knowing this was the worlds biggest contest. Professionally run. The highest level... Two things stuck out to me though. The skating was great, but it was the attendees that brought the energy. Even if I was upstairs, away from the contest, I didn't feel like I was missing it. No matter where you are or who you're with, you're in it. It's truly unlike any contest in the rollerblading world.Incredibly professional... Which is great... unless you're trying to show up, unofficial and make an edit of the weekend. ..... Which is what I tried to do. So as it turns out, this isn't a contest put on by "one of the homies." Oh no, no no. You can't just know a guy and get onto the course to film a couple of clips for your instagram, there was legit processes and procedures you had to go through to get the badge, the jacket, etc...Basically, credentials I didn't have, haha. But that's ok! We're going to find a way to do it. Mick was supposed to skate in the pro comp (he didn't because he got hurt during warm-ups... we all did). By luck, I just so happened to have a friend who should not be named that procured me a media badge (probably an old one) that was going to allow me to get in early. To maybe be able to actually film the contest well and make a proper edit... We show up Friday morning ready to warm up. As it turns out, if you don't practice skating 10 foot high wood ramps, you're not very good at it. We were off to a bad start. Mick was slipping around a bit, so I thought I'd put the camera down for a while and check out the skatepark. After all, it's my first Winterclash, I've wanted to skate this place for years.I put my skates on, do one royale in the bowl and fall on my face (literally). One trick, skates off, never skated the rest of the weekend. Shout out to the medical staff on site (yet another perk of the professionalism of the event). So after a couple of hours of shaking off a mild concussion, the park opened for everyone and it was chaos. Everyone in Europe is good at skating. That's intimidating. Since I was still rocked from the earlier fall, I was hanging back a little bit. I was missing some of the event, sure, but I got to witness what I'm coining "Stairclash." I feel like whenever you're watching a contest edit, you're always expecting to see "the big hurricane," "the dangerous disaster," etc... But you never get to see these super talented people just skate like normal. Stairclash was what I was looking for the whole time. Some of the best, my favorites, just making use of a 6 stair at the largest event at the world. I'm laughing as I type this.I'll never explain it as well as I'd like.With all that being said, I don't want to take anything away from the actual event. It was MADNESS (as expected). I don't think I captured it as well I would have liked, but that's part of the beauty I guess. The massive sea of people, the energy from it, there are moments where it feels like everyones in the same rhythm.I dunno.. I just stayed up all night editing this, so as usual, I'm just going to tap out on the writing bit. As I always say... I think only 3 people read these anyway, lol. Good times. Good good good times. Jumbo: 4 the Streets (episode 23) jumbo 2024-01-29 | Battle my crew 6: Austin vs Dallas was in full effect. I better go ahead and say "im kidding" before Videogroove hits me with a "cease and desist", haha. The boys from all over visited this weekend. Every weekend this past month has been crazy. We had Stefan Brandow in town, Bfree was here the next weekend and now we have Mick, Troy and Jordan from Colorado. If that wasn't enough, about 15 people from Dallas came down to skate as well. I'd say it was a good Saturday. A bit of a cluster finding street spots that can cater to everyone and also not be a bust, but we survived. I have so much to say, but as usual, I'm finishing this late at night and I'm at my wits end so... Cutting this one short. No one reads these anyway I'm sure. A majority of the crew was invited to a wedding, so there was only a few of us left for the Saturday session. Since it was just the few of us, we stuck to our neighborhood. Jumbo: Inspin & Outspin jumbo 2024-01-01 | If you followed my channel before it was called "Jumbo," you'll know one of the things I was interested in doing was making "how-to" videos. I always felt like there was way more to skating than was being shown to beginners and I wanted to try and give those ideas a home. I was only able to get through about 5 of the instructional videos before an old lingering knee injury took me out of the game for a couple of years. A blessing in disguise I guess, because being hurt inspired me to create Jumbo. But Now that I can skate again, I want to keep the idea alive.When I get interested in something, I'll spend waaay too much time learning about. Learning about all the little technical differences in this or that. I'm that way with most of my hobbies outside of skating. I know I'm not the only one that thinks that way and since there are so many newcomers to skating lately, I think it's important to clearly define what we're doing. It might have been documented somewhere a long time ago, in an old magazine or VHS tape that's in someones closet collecting dust. So I think it's worthwhile to put these ideas on the internet so we can actually talk about them. Anywho, I do a lot of this off the top of my head. Jumbo: 4 the Streets (episode 20) jumbo 2023-12-17 | Wow, 20 episodes... I'm usually inconsistent, lazy and quick to change my focus, so I'm really happy that we've made it this far. I think 100 would be a good goal. See if I can make 100 of these. Maybe that's too much... I don't know. Anyways, this session was great. For being as small as it was, Broom made the first spot pretty exciting. I don't see zero heel roll too often, so I consider that a hammer. Ground hammer, haha. When we were about to leave the p-rail spot, I'd noticed that the parking lot next to us was in a "U" shape. I had jokingly suggested zach should get towed in by a car and just jump the whole thing. Surprisingly, Jferg wanted to do it. Hell yeah Jferg. I don't care what you're doing, if you get towed in by a car before you do it, it immediately adds more panache to it. You could be skating a curb and if you get towed in by a car at 30 mph, that curb sesh just got exciting. I felt bad for him after he landed it but missed the grab. Little things like that show what kind of person you are.As I said above, I'm generally a bit of a slacker, I would have taken the one where I missed the grab and called it a day. But Jferg? He went through that little extra bit of hell just to make it honest. What a guy. Spot 3 was really cool. There was so much in that parking lot that we didn't do. So much extra wood laying around to make things more interesting, as you'll see Andrew do. We basically built a skatepark rail in a parking lot. And finally, we went to Iceberg. I've been wanting to go to Iceberg for a while, but it's been "off limits," because we had a contest there years ago and every trick has already been done on it. Two things have happened since then. 1) It's been over 10 years. Our rule of thumb is, if it hasn't been sessioned in over a decade, it's back in play.2) Social media has destroyed everyones memory and things like "someone has already done it," don't matter as much as they used to.In fact, I don't think they matter at all. As much as I want to expand on that last sentence, I'll save the rant for later. Anyways, Iceberg ledge is the best. You can just do a soul grind on it and feel like you "did something" that day. It's small enough to lock onto without too much experience. It's large enough to have some real danger to it. You leave feeling pretty accomplished. Just a great spot. And that's it! Jumbo: 4 the Streets (episode 19) jumbo 2023-12-10 | Julien Cudot was in town and working on something with Ant. I warned them all week, "I'm still going to come out and film on Saturday." I'm surprised we all got as much done as we did. A few of the tricks in this were obviously left out because I don't want to spoil what they're working on. Jumbo: The Carriers Open jumbo 2023-11-14 | Wow. Where do I start? Fritz, Carriers, the city of Frisco did such a great job putting on this event. The turn out was really massive. The park is really spread out, but even with that in mind you can tell the numbers were huge. I want to write in depth about the event, give you every detail, etc... But I'm going to leave that to whoever is handling the legit edit. This is the non-legit edit. This is the Jumbo experience... So here's how it went from our perspective. I've never ran a booth before... Hell, I didn't even know this was going to be a company when I started it. It's a joke that's gotten really, really out of hand.I love it. I didn't think about this beforehand, but running a booth, a side event, trying to skate a little AND film an edit of the experience is... A lot. Almost too much, but I still managed. Thank god for the crew helping me hold it down. Bcam basically covered the booth and sales the whole time, Gogo and Aaron helping me film. Heath, Ant and Caleb helping me facilitate our mystery event...Oh my god, I can't believe they let us do the mystery event, hahaha. Jumbo World Tournament.It was so stupid. No one had a clue, not even the people running the contest. I'm not sure how people actually felt about it. I can't really remember much of it, because I was so focused on announcing. I edited the footage, but I do it all so quickly I haven't taken the time to really grasp the crowd reaction yet...........But if you ask me? I laugh every time. I laugh just thinking about it. That's really all I want to do, just have a good time. If we're ever allowed to do another mystery event, it might be more focused towards skating... But I love the slapstick, pie-in-the-face, loony toons nature of it all.Without ranting for too long (because I'm sure maybe only 10 people read these descriptions anyway), I think everything about the event was a success. I love my friends. I love the rollerblading scene.I especially love EVERYONE that came by the booth and said what up. For real, I say it every time and I mean it... I'm shocked that people care. I care so much about skating and about us as a community, it's just really great to know that there are people out there that I can resonate with.
