The Easiest to Find Shipwreck in the Great Lakes! #Shorts Matty P 2024-08-01 | This is probably the easiest access shipwreck site in all of Lake Huron, the Cyrenian right off of Lion’s Head beach. She sits in just 1-12ft of water! Have a look on the south side just by the campground and you’ll find it. This schooner was built in 1879 and sank during the Great White Hurricane of 1913, right in the harbour. That same blizzard wrecked 19 ships and killed over 250 people in the US & Canada. Hard to imagine such destruction and 35ft waves on a perfect calm day like today! She’s in decent condition for over 110 years underwater. There’s 2 more wrecks in Lion’s Head, will do some more snorkelling there next time, if anyone has any info about them let me know! Banda Aceh has a deep history in Indonesia, although most people today know it as the place that was worst hit by the 2004 Tsunami. Not a Monkey, This is the SIAMANG! Matty P 2024-06-09 | I'm on the northwest coast of Sumatra Indonesia, visiting a crazy place called the Warung Siamang! Wild "Siamang", a type of gibbon are a regular visitor of this cafe, and although I've been here many times this is the first time I've actually seen them! They're an endangered animal, with possibly less than 200 000 left on earth. Smaller than the great apes, and bigger than monkeys, they're considered their own group as a "lesser ape". Was such a cool experience to hang out and feed them. I found some Huge Freshwater Clams! Matty P 2022-09-20 | This was a new one for me, at a chill spot that I regularly visit at the Sauble River on the Bruce Peninsula. I've never seen such big clams before in the river, and thanks to the Clam Counter app I was able to learn a ton more. I had no idea there is 41 species of clams in Ontario alone, and they can live over 100 years. Learning to Skate the 11 Foot Bowl at Age 40 👻 Matty P 2022-07-16 | I didn't quite follow through on my plan to learn how to ride big transition last year, but I'm starting fresh this summer and finally getting some progress! Today I was able to get a few firsts, like dropping in the deep end, axle drop the shallow, and 50-50 grind the shallow. This trick took me 28 YEARS to land! The Elusive Backside Noseblunt Slide Matty P 2021-07-15 | I've been skateboarding seriously since 1993, or the late 80's if you count playing around as a kid. I've managed to land every basic grind/slide, frontside and backside: Fifty Fifty, Five-O, smith grind, nose slide, tail slides, crooked grind, over crooks, salads, feebles, blunts....But I've NEVER landed a backside noseblunt! I would say most skaters would consider it the hardest of all basic grinds/slides I've never even seriously tried one, other than maybe on a double sided curb back in the day. I'm turning 40 pretty soon, and I really wanted to land this one before that. This was finally the day!Now that I did it, the hard part was all mental..once I found the right spot, and committed to actually trying it, it only took an hour and a half.....after 28 years of thinking about it 😆Anyway, hope this inspire you to try that trick you've been dreaming about...or try anything for that matter! Bird Sanctuary SUP, Toronto! Cherry Beach to Tommy Thompson Park 🍒 Matty P 2021-05-22 | Insanely nice day in Toronto, Canada! 25 degrees and glassy conditions in the middle of May. There are some beautiful places to SUP and explore around the city, and this is one of the best. This SUP is an easy paddle, from Cherry Beach to Tommy Thompson Bird Sanctuary ...you can see hundreds of nesting cormorants, foxes, beavers, and if you're lucky maybe even a coyote.
