How many people have to get eaten alive by the systems you fight to uphold before you realize that none of these people you’re protecting even care whether you live or die?”It’s a question he’d asked himself a million times. A question he still didn’t know how to answer honestly. “That…might be true. But even if they’re willing to sacrifice me, I can’t say the same. I’m not them.” A brief pause. “I’m not you.”The Angel’s jaw tightens and his cold eyes narrow even further. “You. Abandoned. Me.” He doesn’t raise his voice by a single decibel, but every word rips out of his throat like scissors catching on wrapping paper. “Don’t talk to me about sacrifice when you took the first opportunity you had to leave me stranded in the filth you thought you were too good for.”“I didn’t have a choice!”“Well, you do now!” The Angel takes a deep, hitching breath and lets out a shuddering sigh. “Join me. Abandon these ‘friends’ of yours who have been holding you captive, come stand beside me where you belong, and I’ll call off the attack. I know you don’t need me to swear to you that I’m not lying, but I’ll do it anyway. I swear…I promise you I’ll turn around right now if it means you’ll come home with me – for good.”Fable’s answer is almost immediate. “You and I both know I can’t do that.”Another quick smile flashes across the Angel's face, this time entirely devoid of any semblance of happiness. (To Ares An Original Composition) | arysn0w arysn0w 2024-12-11 | So fun fact: I used to be in the youth orchestra as a violinist, I played in a couple of praise bands in middle and high school (shout to anyone else who grew up in evangelical spaces), and I tried my hand at composing for a bit, only for me to eventually tap out after realizing that, apart from violin and keys, I don't really know all that much about other instruments.And then, a few months ago, I got hit with enough audacity to try again."War Sans Fanfare: To Ares, from a Battlefield You May Never See" is part of a larger project I've been working on, where I write songs dedicated to the Olympians of Greek mythology -- often with a slightly different focus than what one might expect from them based on their legends. This piece is themed around the concept of Ares, the god of war, attempting to make sense of the ongoing battle that is navigating chronic illnesses, both mental and physical. This piece is composed in 7/8 time, a reference to the Japanese proverb "Fall down seven times, stand up eight;" as someone who is now medically considered a fall risk, it's been a useful reminder to me that while falling (literally or metaphorically) is simply an aspect of life, we can always choose to pick ourselves up and keep moving forward.Over the course of the last couple years, I've found myself wanting to challenge this notion that disabled people are broken and in need of fixing. Because we aren't! While some of us may crave relief from certain symptoms, the disability community is one that I'm proud to be a part of; I most definitely would not have been able to navigate the past several years of trying to figure out what's going on with my mind and body had it not been for the support of other disabled folks. And as someone who always aims to pay forward the kindness and support I receive, I hope this composition helps someone else! A Midsummers Nightmare - 2024 New Years GSSR (NA) | arysn0w arysn0w 2024-01-04 | Okay, context for those who might not know much about Fate/Grand Order (which may be most of y'all, since I've only uploaded footage of this game once): last summer, I spent the equivalent of hundreds of dollars in in-game currency (540 Saint Quartz) trying to get a single copy of this Servant. I failed.So I decided to try again! While I only had a 0.8% chance of getting him then, this would give me a 20% chance of getting him. On top of that, I had a 100% chance of getting a 5-star Servant, an 80% chance of getting a Servant I didn't already have (just needed to avoid Summer Abby), a 3% chance of getting a 4-star Servant I didn't already have (Gorgon), and a 2.5ish% chance of getting the last two copies of the only 3-star Servant I don't have at NP5 (Caster Gilles de Rais). (In other words, my collection of 3-star Servants is 99.1% complete. Sooooo close.)I knew it was a gamble. But I had my fingers and toes crossed that it was a gamble that would pay off.~*~ slight spoilers for the video below ~*~Note: I am one of the few, the proud players of FGO who genuinely believes that Abigail Williams (Summer) is actually a spectacular Servant. She may be a terrible farming Servant, but she has carried me through so many boss fights with multiple enemies. Last summer, I spent every single SQ I had on her, and I regret absolutely nothing. But did I really want to get her to NP2?? When Oberon and Jalter were *right there*?? Definitely not.Likewise, during my GSSR last summer, I had a 67% chance of getting a Servant I didn't have and still managed to get NP3 Illya.Meanwhile, I bore witness to my sister getting Himiko and my dad getting Reines, Chevalier d'Eon, and Qin Liangyu -- all new Servants for them. I'm not even a little bit salty. 😂Ah well. I guess the price of being a fan of a Servant you aren't actually rolling for is that you somehow get the exact opposite of desire sensor? But maybe I'll use that to my advantage next month if/when I roll for Meltryllis. (No, really, I'm just rolling for NP2 Passionlip. Promise.)
