It's been a tough editing year for me tbh. I was extremely busy the entire year, and not in the best place mentally, and it burned me out from wanting to edit for a lot of it. A lot of times it genuinely felt like a chore. This means I edited a lot of parts I'm not particularly proud of this year, so this collection is cutting a lot of the parts I've done. It took a LONG time till I was actually starting on this though, as I went through a lot of different song choices and nothing was turing out. I swear I lived | Goodbye Ash Collab PokeLSouma 2023-03-24 | "I saw so many places, the things that I didWith every broken bone, I swear I lived"- Turn on CCs for voiceover subtitles - When this video goes live, Ash's final episode will have just finished airing. It's hard to explain how I feel about that, really. Pokemon has been the one constant thing in my life, something that was always there, no matter what else would change in my life. I met most of my most important people thanks to this franchise. And while PokeSpe might be my "favorite" part of Pokemon, PokeAni and Ash at it's core were always the thing that best captured this connection I have to it. And also the most important part for me, really. I was like, 3, when I saw my first episode on TV, sneaking into the living room when my brother was watching. Now I'm 26, moving countries, starting a job, getting married, still following the adventures of this dorky 10 year old. And he's been everything to me through the years, my first crush, my best friend when I was a lonely teenager, my son whom I was watching grow from this hot headed idiot to literal world champion. But most important, he will always be my best boy, my favorite character, no matter how many other favorites come and go through the years. I will never stop smiling thinking about his pure, unwavering love for Pokemon.PokeAni got me into editing, back then I didn't really expect I would still be doing this 15 years later. And now I got to edit a video to say goodbye to him for good and it hurts. I shed an embarrassing amount of tears while working on this video, but well. When they announced Ash's final episode literally my first instinct was to edit something for him with my Pokemon editing friends. I am so thankful that so many of them decided to work with me on this, I really think there couldn't be a more worthy sendoff to him than this. Everyone really put their heart and soul into their parts, we cried together editing this thing. It was very cathartic honestly. And I truly think we captured all the aspects of his character so well in this video. You can just FEEL all the love pouring out. And the fact that so many of us got together feels so fitting, considering the entire theme of Pokemon is making friends through our shared experiences, and our shared love for these little creatures.That said, thank you, Ash and Pikachu. For being there for me when I was a struggling teenager and didn't have anyone else, for connecting me with the best people one could ask for in their life, for bringing me so much joy through all these years, and for massively influencing the person I grew up to be. I'll never forget you two, and I'll never stop cheering for you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. These are parts from March through December.I left out quite a few parts this time around because being forced to edit on my laptop for the majority of the year made my quality drop some... I am super proud of my most recent parts tho, and I had a lot of fun with most parts I did! A lot of these were for birthdays too, which I think will be my general rule of thumb from here on out. Anyway, I did edit a lot less this year, which was mostly for good reasons. My year started out pretty terrible but then turned around to be the most wonderful year of my life. I got to life abroad for half a year and find my passion there, I have been in the most stable mindset I have been in since I can even remember. I got engaged to the love of my life. I got to meet some of my most dearest friends for the first time (It still feels like a dream). I genuinely don't think I was ever this confidently happy. And if that comes at the cost of editing time, I'll take it. So, I know I keep saying it but I do believe I will cut back on editing time in the future. I have a lot of exciting things waiting for me, and I want to focus on them fully. I started this project a full year ago after a Ross & Rachel edit got me obsessed with the song and then the quote from above just made think of how well it also goes with Monica & Richard too ("he's my happy place"). I am super proud of some parts of this video (the voiceovers, mainly) but I was struggling with some other sections (the pacing, 2nd verse and man you can tell I had no idea how to end this video) so I left it unfinished for a long time. I was in the mood for a heartbreak angsty edit yesterday, so I decided to fix it up as much as I could and upload it, before it gets lost to the void. I wish I could do it more justice but I know I won't rework it from scratch, so that's the best I can do after my editing changed so much in the past year.Anyway I'm glad I finally managed to edit some Richard & Monica. When I watched FRIENDS for the first time I fell absolutely head over heels for them and when they broke up I was devastated. I didn't expect to love another Monica ship because these two were SO GOOD in my eyes. Well, Mondler happened and became my favorite ship of all time, but I never stopped loving these two. Their whole storyline is so heartbreaking and realistic and it's a struggle I wanna see in fiction more often. Breaking up not over petty drama but because while you still care about each other, your life goals just. Don't align well enough. Uni was stressful and editing was my one proper outlet so who needs to be adulting when I can instead binge edit mep parts hahaha.These were parts from the start of the year up until now. I went through some kind of transitioning phase with my raw editing and I really like where I ended up at, but that also means that some of the middle parts are a bit of a mess sometimes. :DAs for fx, I did struggle with a lot of those parts, as my friends can confirm haha. A lot of these were either really challenging themes/styles, or hard color schemes. Birk & Ronja | Something I Need [VENT] PokeLSouma 2021-03-03 | "And if we only die onceI wanna die with you"Turn on CCs for subtitles!I'm not sure if anyone will even watch this since it's the most random media ever but oh well – Today was kind of a shit day so I decided to edit something comforting to help me relax and since I finally found a download link for this movie a few weeks back and have been itching to edit them, here we go!Ronja has been my favorite book as a kid up until my teens, and it's something I can always return to to make me feel warm and at home. I love Ronja's and Birk's friendship so much, and looking back at it now - are we really surprised? They have my favorite story trope (found family) and also fit my typical type in ships - altho I never shipped them romantically haha.The song on the other hand just goes so well with these two, and while it's not the type of song I'm good with for liveaction, it's one I've wanted to edit for a long, long time (I actually started a video with it back when NagiAsu was airing, but that project got lost when my laptop died.. I'm still sad). Overall this is far from a perfect edit for many reasons (the lack of scenes where these two don't talk, the fact that I don't know ANY swedish whatsoever to get proper voiceovers done, the TERRIBLE clip quality...), but I hope maybe I can share some of my undying love for these two with you all. And if you're interested and neither a book- nor liveaction person, there's a ghibli series out there that is a pretty decent adaption (altho the animation is somewhat painful).This movie is super old, so finding a coloring that makes the scenes look a little less terrible was quite a challenge for sure, but I'm quite happy with how it looks now. :) Dedication goes out to the Merphy Discord! So a few months ago I got the urge to host a book couples MEP, and I thought it would be a total flop, as book ships generally don't have a lot of content to work with - to my surprised it actually turned out to be more popular than I expected, and I almost considered extending this by a few more parts! I'm honestly in love with the result, tho. The theme was book-ish or fairytale style effects and I love seeing all the different takes on the theme! This mep is so diverse yet it looks so nice together! Tho admittedly it was the hardest MEP I ever had to put together in terms of part flow :D I also love the variety of books in this MEP, from YA to adult, fantasy over contemporary to classics and from different countries, I love seeing so many different book genres represented here (and definitely will have to check out the ones I haven't read yet hahaha).
