This started out as an idea a had since middle school and have finished making the song around my sophomore-junior year of high school. Nowadays, work has slowed down my progress drastically (especially since I got to work from the afternoon to dusk with not a lot of time to spare afterwards), but I have been trying to work on it as much as I can.

This is the only known documentation of this unusual show that happened Feb. 7th, 2011 at the Fireside Room of the Sorrento Hotel in Seattle as part of One Pot's "Night School" series. Mount Eerie and Nicholas Krgovich adapted songs for a performance with the Odeon Quartet, actual professional musicians who work with the Seattle Symphony and other legitimate situations (Gennady Filimonov and Artur Girsky violin(s), Heather Bentley viola and Rowenna Hammill cello). Phil Elverum played vibraphone. Nicholas Krgovich played keyboard. Both sang.
These two songs were recorded by an audience member with a phone and so they are not super high quality.

From Lauren's Bandcamp:
In the spring of 2018, a friend mentioned that she had begun helping curate programming for a queer arts festival in Los Angeles called Dirty Looks - On Location, which was organizing events all over Los Angeles for the entire month of July. She asked me what was going on with Naomi and I, music wise and I told her that we had been wanting to do a rescoring of a film, specifically “Tetsuo: The Iron Man”, which was a movie that we bonded over almost immediately after meeting each other. The themes of transformation, the merging of pleasure and pain, the seething anxiety and terror, the fear and joy in the promise of a fucked up and failing future, the ultimately helpless power fantasies, and most of all the hope of it all appealed to us. She said “That sounds perfect for the festival”, and shortly after the venue was booked.
We performed this in its entirety, live at Akbar in Silverlake on July 25th, 2018. Akbar is over 20 years old and caters itself not as a gay bar specifically, but as a gay run bar for misfits from traditional gay spaces. It was perfect for us.
Tetsuo: The Iron Man was a monumentally important film to both of us growing up. The primary sense of horror in the film is directed from the main character’s own body. We related to that feeling, like living in our bodies was a waking, palpable nightmare. Terror mixed with hope.
Shinya Tsukamoto used a variety of mixed media to illustrate the main narrative of the film: collage, paper mache, stop-motion technique, as well as pixelating the film itself. It feels desperate and haphazard. We saw a huge amount of queerness in it. While working on this, we reread Donna Haraway’s Cyborg Manifesto, which connected a lot of dots that we needed help connecting within ourselves and echoes a lot of the themes of the film as well. We took some of the titles of the songs from her manifesto.
We love that that it’s an alienating movie that speaks to alienated people. We are alienated. Where others may see nihilism in this film, we see a very delicate, desperately collaged together kind of hope.
We hope we’ve done justice to Chu Ishikawa’s original score. Thank you for listening.
In hope, anger and love,
In-House Pharmacy️ (Lauren Bousfield and Naomi Mitchell)
I do not own the makings of the original movie's OST nor Lauren and Naomi's rescore. I just love their work.

Another batch of cover songs, this time not from boredom.
Creating the album made me reflect on how I make music, as many times the songs here have either been changed from their original intentions or have "small" additions to them (Allegory's End and Pixel Worlds & Day respectively are examples of this).
It also made me look at how I think the music I make would be received (usually very poorly on my end); this album is confidently made, and I think you'll enjoy it.

“An appetite for the unknown" - Daniel Lanois
No collaboration is unlikely when the end goals are the same. A meeting of two artists who illustrate different corners of the musical landscape, come together to create a new statement that takes their collective strengths to higher elevations and encompasses new terrains.
So it is on the first collaborative journey of Canadian musicians Venetian Snares and Daniel Lanois. What started as mutual respect for one another’s work, led to several years of a creative germination resulting in an eight-track full-length exploration released May 4th on Timesig/Planet Mu.
The path began in 2014, after Lanois reached out to Venetian Snares (Aaron Funk) as a fan of his work. The project started to take root in Summer of 2016, after Funk hung around Toronto between shows. Taking his gear to Lanois’ studio, the two began to play for the first time together in what would prove to be a formative moment in their creative journey together.
“I love making music with Dan, he has a real understanding of how to create a world and build what may exist within that world. Bassdrums are trombones and they are a colossal whale which floats on clouds of leaves speaking to the blast furnace feeding the mammoth. A small painting of forest horses hangs in the cranium of the sea horse.” – Aaron Funk
Recorded live in a former Buddhist temple-turned-studio in Toronto, 'Venetian Snares x Daniel Lanois' travels to new zones in what Lanois describes as “a body of work driven by exploration”. Like all the best collaborations, it's brought something new out of both musicians. Equipped with their production acuity, they let their natural workflow guide them through uncharted waters. Funk laid the groundwork with drums while Lanois rode the pedal steel, weaving their sounds together in a new sonic tapestry. The two ultimately landed at their destination, their work ready to be shared with those willing to explore.
In Daniel Lanois ’own words:
"To come upon a new form reassures the head that frontier lives on
The unlikely pairing of Venetian Snares and Daniel Lanois may very well have provided us with a nice new pair of shoes to walk to new sonic frontier
A melange of gospel and electronics
As madness of the world trips over its heels these Canadian sonic innovators prepare for travel
A body of work driven by exploration, brings to us in our modern times what we remember and admire from the Jazz explorations of the 50s
A splintering
An appetite for the unknown"

Miss Balaton. It has strings, then it has acid, then it has drums. It is over 9 minutes long with various melodic sections. It starts in E minor then moves to B minor - you'll like it! Maybe even want to buy it! It contains the following midi synthesizer keyboards or modules: Roland TB303, Yamaha DX7 and the drum machine was a Boss Doctor Rhythm DR55. The b-side "CCUK" is Aaron's political comment on the state of smoking (or not) in the UK.

Pink + Green Special 10 Year Anniversary Edition! I don’t even know, this one is all over the place. Sounds like I was really into the Roland V-Synth at the time. May have accidentally invented bronies with this EP, not sure. Added Yip-Yaps from the Eyelicker comp and a special bonus track because why not? Everybody likes extra stuff for fun! Maybe really grumpy people don’t, but you know what? Try and find some shit that makes you happy. Maybe that’s futile in some cases, I am by no means claiming to be an expert. My laptop is really hot right now, think it might start on fire. The screen is falling off so it’s all stuck on with board tape. I dunno what to do, who cares. Anyways I made some of these songs in Winnipeg and some in Budapest in my kitchen.
Originally released on Sublight Records with ltd vinyl via Planet Mu. Here's the press release from the time which is way inspired by this old Billy Idol press release I found that was making me convulse:
Venetian Snares, aka Gonk the 8-legged Viking, is back with yet another record that sounds nothing like Boards of Canada! From the catchy title track opener "Pink + Green" which blends demented punk vocals with hyper-complex grooves and gut gurgling bass blasts you can just tell this is something fresh and funky from producer Aaron "funk" Funk. Not to worry though, the sub-rattling low-end blasts and jackhammering hardcore anthems are still here and in full effect on tracks like "Sporto Fucking Sellout Cocksuckerface" and "Husikam Rave Dojo" that revisit the days of pilled out candy raving. This is cyberpunk at it's finest! Welcome to the interzone! 15 year old K-heads will love this shit! If you hated albums like Winnipeg is a Frozen Shithole and Higgins Ultra Low Track Glue Funk Hits 1972-2006, you will hate this even more! This is not some crybaby n00bcore bullshit, this is rave at it's roughest like only Mr.Snares can bring it. So buy this kickin' new ep so Snares can buy more laptops to make his untouchable "voice of a generation" breakcore cyber hits!. This 12" Features amazing artwork by Arnold Steiner aka AS1 Projects.

These are the ones I feel closest to, I can listen to one of these 10 tracks and remember that day exactly, all that I was feeling, just where my head was at, whether it was a good memory, a laugh, something that was bugging me or something bumming me out. Listening brings me back to that day, whereas hearing some of my other albums brings me back to some period in my life in general. I was explaining to a friend the other day, it was more like a collection of short stories than a novel for me. Diary entries he said, and they really are, pockets of inspiration realized within a day. For me it is remote viewing my own memories with clearer and clearer mind binoculars. All important pieces in my puzzle, this kind of filing system I have that sits outside my cognitive filing yet is clear in this system. Of course all of this probably means nothing to you but you have to write something in these things so when you send out promos nobody has to think of anything thoughtful to say about it themselves. Usually I write a bunch of preposterous shit to poke fun at that whole process but I didn't feel like that today. Maybe tomorrow I will.

Review from Sputnikmusic - sputnikmusic.com/review/34297/u-Ziq-Lunatic-Harness
Electronic music and dance music are distinct but related entities in the music world. When they converge on each other, you quite often receive something mainstream adores and obscurity shuns: electropop, club techno, etc. Those who listen to electronic music defined in the traditional sense are wary of the inherent tendency of such subgenres to appeal to a broad demographic. Those that enjoy electronic music, as with any other genre, tread lightly through the veritable minefield with every observation they make. Much like with metal, generalizations are bad. However, I am taking time to mention this theory because of one of the exceptions to the watered-down synthesis created by the dance influence. This exception is the discography of IDM artist Mike Paradinas, better known by his alias μ-Ziq.
Of course, many have expressed their distaste with the label "IDM", which stands for Intelligent Dance Music. While I must agree that it comes off as a statement of superiority over other electronic music at first, it is ultimately justified by the style of Paradinas' work: carefully crafted pieces mixing ambience and a large drum and bass influence. The result is an astoundingly deep soundscape that Lunatic Harness, while by no means an extravagant revolution, will demonstrate to the uninformed listener, and what IDM entails.
The album pulls off a humble series of intriguing tracks, each with their own unique quirks. There are a few variations in the general flow of the album, and for much of the duration it may be difficult to put one's finger on just what the hell she or he is listening to. Slightly more ambient pieces transform into faster ones halfway through. This requires the listener's patience before the true nature of a particular track -much like the album itself - is revealed. The songs aren't rampant by any means when they go into this so called "second gear". That said, the tracks from "My Little Beautiful" onwards are a tad softer and less conventional than the others, which are more straightforward in their presentation. For example, listeners will no doubt be impressed with the heart-tugging lament and urgency inspired by both the sound and title of "Hasty Boom Alert" - a personal favorite of the author's.
"My Little Beautiful", however, will take some acquaintance, as this oddball presents a rather uncharacteristic early 90's movie-like theme. This is where the patience should be demonstrated, as it actually builds into something quite nice and retains the opening theme, albeit subtly. "Wannabe", the only creepy track, is something you will either enjoy or never want to hear again, with growling, oily vocals repeating a stalker-like refrain in tandem with crunching beats. For the rest, two-to-three playthroughs are prerequisite for turning the irk - stemming from the semi-cheesy loops Paradinas incorporates - into appreciation. "Midwinter Log", and the "Secret Stair" pair, like track 7, may be difficult to listen to because of their strange violin synths and departure from the thrilling pace of "Brace Yourself Jason".
Lunatic Harness defines itself as being a true-to-form and complex electronic work, while avoiding becoming too ambient and free-floating; conversely, it does so without falling back on drum and bass too heavily as well. This is a balance rather difficult to fine-tune, as seen in the later works of fellow artist Aphex Twin, that attempted the mixture but only achieved it very sporadically. Lunatic Harness has not a trace of filler -looking at you, drukqs- and while its experimentation may leave some confounded for a few brief and awkward moments, it is forgivable once the listener finally figures out and accepts it's deviational nature. This is very much attributed to the lack of structure - it no doubt serves the album well in this instance - as well as the flavor of the opener that carries throughout the entire collection to counteract the flippancy. A quirky listen, strongly recommended.

This is my take on ambient music and trying not to play a simple 4-chord progression on a piano or guitar and call it a day. Instead it's moreso me saying to myself " What happens if I do this and will it sound good?".

Released in 1997, Big Loada is Squarepusher’s fourth release on Warp following his album Hard Normal Daddy, his Vic Acid single, and his Port Rhombus EP. Opening with the style-forming ‘A Journey To Reedham (7am Mix)’ — which he still occasionally plays in his live sets, the EP deploys Jenkinson’s characteristically frenetic drum machines. Apart from this focus on breakbeats, his chiptune influences are much in evidence. While tracks like the chaotic ‘The Body Builder’ evoke associations with apocalyptic video game aesthetics, the fragment-like ‘Jacques Mal Chance (Il N'a Pas de Chance)’ quotes an improvisational jazz theme, and ‘Massif (Stay Strong)’ is a good example for his way with catchy patterns.

Hard, the land we call our home
Push, to keep the dark from comin'
Feel the weight of what we owe
This, the song of sons and daughters
Hide, the heart of who we are
Making peace to build a future
Strong, united, working til we fall
And we all lift
And we're all adrift together
Together
Through the cold mist
Til we're lifeless together
Together

this album is about trauma and how it can hurt and be used to hurt others. it is about not knowing how to use the word family or if you want to use it at all. it is about trashgirls living on the edge of society being mobbed for the crime of attempted survival. this album is about girls in trouble. it is about blood.

Marking the start of Tom Jenkinson’s prolific output with Warp Records, the Port Rhombus EP was Squarepusher’s first real mission statement. All three cuts are led by rattling, off-kilter beats that won over both hedonists and discerning musos. From the quintessentially British breakdowns of the title track to the cerebral acid clamour of Significant Others, this trio of tracks set Squarepusher apart from his contemporaries. Historically, it signalled the start of a legendary label-artist relationship. Sonically, it still stands tall as a golden chapter in UK electronica.

With Squarepusher’s 2004 release Venus No 17 we’re reunited with his raw, acid-drenched, warehouse-dwelling drum ‘n’ bass. First up is the title track, a breathless piece where a coarse break is augmented by various bleeps and alarms, gradually gathering pace and peaking as a truly mind-melting electronic workout whereas the ‘Acid Mix’ is rougher still, laced with nervous streaks and is truly intensive. On the other side, Jenkinson presents the epic ‘Tundra 4’, an immersive musical journey that goes from gothic organ chords to runaway drum fills to an almighty ambient breakdown that’ll leave you on your knees.

From bleep.com - bleep.com/release/16033-squarepusher-welcome-to-europe-exclusive-12
Tom Jenkinson offers up three pieces of intense, energetic IDM on the 2006 release Welcome To Europe EP. Bubbling patterns and a solid drum break underpin the title track, where gradually long synth chords are added to the melodic backdrop. Next ‘Hanningfield Window’ marries tuneful synth chords to delicately processed drum fills whereas final cut ‘Exciton’ is a near-violent excursion that exhibits the potent drill ‘n’ bass style in full effect.

From bleep.com - bleep.com/release/49560-squarepusher-x-z-machines-music-for-robots
The Z-Machines robots were the result of a project in Japan to create a music performing system that could play music far more complex than even the most advanced human musicians could ever physically be capable of. Squarepusher was one of a number of composers asked to develop music for the Z-Machines to perform and the result was the track 'Sad Robot Goes Funny', an intricate work that took full advantage of the possibilities of working with a guitarist with 78 fingers and a drummer with 22 arms. The EP 'Music For Robots' includes this piece as well as four additional pieces composed a little while after and is stirring and complex work quite as mesmerising as any of Tom Jenkinson's previous projects.
