The IPS patch used in this video can be downloaded here:

First and foremost, the most obvious change with this hack is the ability to run extremely fast. As you might notice in the video, it's very difficult to control Mario when he moves so fast. What I didn't show is what happens when you press and hold the B button while running. What happens is the value for Mario's speed "rolls over" or "overflows", resulting in the portly plumber being pulled backwards. Feel free to try it with the IPS patch.
However, this hack also offers a very interesting side effect. In this video, I exploit a very odd glitch that occurs when you run at top speed. For some reason the left side of the screen gets filled with objects and sprites that should appear later. This weird glitch can cause all sorts of amazing things to occur. Most notably being able to finish a level early. I went a bit too far with this glitch when Level 1-3 rolled around.
I kind of wish I was able to do a castle level, but I find there isn't a whole lot of room to run around in, so the mirroring glitch would have been minimal and likely would have ended up with me being killed anyway.
Again, all credit for this hack belongs to bmecoli. Check out his channel to see all sorts of ridiculous ROM corruptions!

If you didn't know, Model 1 Genesis consoles that say "High Definition Graphics" above the cartridge slot have a much better sound amp than other Model 1 and 2 Genesis units.

Here's a second download location in case the original doesn't work:

EDIT: Yes finally got around to update this. That link is now updated to 1.4.2
This is a short gameplay video of Super Mario Bros. on Sega Genesis, ported with a from-scratch converter to "translate" 6502 ASM to M68k ASM code. This video isn't meant to be a showcase of skill. As you can see, it's practically picture perfect in visuals and play. The sound takes advantage of the Genesis sound hardware with good results. You can download the game for use on an emulator and read all about the technical stuff in this amazing conversion here:

Note: The only reason I captured the emulator window is to help prove that this is in fact played on a Genesis, not the original NES. At the end of the video you'll see that I reset the game after the Minus World glitch fails. It's not a separate video inside a Windows frame. Try the game out and see for yourself by clicking the link!

Commentary Notes:
I've actually been meaning to do a video on the Nintendo Adventure Book series for some time now, it's just I didn't have a good enough camera for this sort of work. Well I got a Sony Handycam recently so I'm all set. Not only is the quality perfect, but it's also in widescreen! Pretty much all of my video will be in widescreen from now on.
I apologize for some of the clips being taken with an unoptimised camera. I didn't want to have to shoot all the video again and it isn't too bad, I could watch it just fine.
As stated at the end, any future episodes in this series will be up to the viewers. If Episode 1 is liked well enough, I'll keep a second installment in mind for future work. However, I don't have piles and piles of video game merchandise sitting around, so I wouldn't be able to make 30 episodes or something.
Oh yeah, when I say video game merchandise, I mean just that, merchandise. This would include strategy guides, toys, collectibles, most any books, or pretty much anything that fits those descriptions.
Super Koopa RPG is back with a brand new part after 4 long months of waiting. Because I wanted more dialog to be in this part compared to 4, I skipped the Croco fight. Other than me beating him very quickly (which wasn't fast enough after all), it wasn't all that special.
I realize the sound de-syncs over the course of the video, this was due to the video encoder I used. The video is slightly slower than the audio. Given this is just a text hack, I didn't think too much of it. If you can't stand the audio de-sync, please say so in the Comments and I'll work on it.
I also still haven't fixed the movement issue with SNES9X 1.51. ZSNES is much better but it doesn't have a video recording feature. I suppose I could use a desktop recorder but I prefer built-in video recorders.

Sadly there isn't a whole lot of dialog in this part, but I wanted to show what text there was in Bandit Way. I Hope you all enjoy this installment anyway. If you have any questions or comments about this ROM Hack, please use the Comment box.
In this particular video, SNES9X was acting up and I couldn't get Mario to move diagonally with my USB controllers, but the keyboard controls worked just fine. This is why Mario moves a little funny, sometimes I jump over stuff unnecessarily, I have trouble talking with NPCs or have difficulty completing jumping obstacles in Bandit's Way.
There's also a little bit of audio/video desync, but it's not too bad. I apologize if this and Mario's odd movements are a problem in any way. =(
This is a video of a ROM text hack I started a long time ago. It's called Super Koopa RPG. The original game was called Super Mario RPG and was released by Nintendo for the Super NES. It's a top-notch RPG and is worth playing unmodified if you haven't already. It's also available on the Virtual Console. Help show Nintendo that the Super Mario RPG IP is profitable by purchasing the VC release.
This video series is being continued because the first two parts have had strong view numbers and appear to be popular. So here is another one, with a fourth part planned for a future release. Hope you all enjoy. If you have any questions or comments about this ROM Hack, please use the Comment box.

I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING IN THIS VIDEO.
First off, I do not have an exact date of when I first started the project, but I can safely say it was well over a year ago. I really wish I had kept date logs, but I never thought I'd be doing something like this so it never occured to me that it'd be all that important.
Second, the hack isn't finished at the time of this video's making. I'd say it's about... %30 or %40 percent completed, which isn't all that far. What this means is that I wouldn't be putting up a full video series of the hack. What will probably happen is just this one video and it's companion being put up, then I'll gradually put up more as the game becomes more complete. Or I might just put these two video up and see if anybody is actually interested in it.
Third, this is not my first attempt at rom-hacking. I actually started out on Super Mario World and later moved onto Super Mario RPG. I actually have a completed hack of Super Mario World but the last time I was working on it, I was trying to add new things to the essentially completed project. I should really close it up and release it as is.
Most of the other details of Super Koopa RPG were documented in the Readme file I made for it. Such as the goal of the hack, the basic story and other things. I'm probably gonna throw a link to the file up on YouTube for you all to see eventually.
I put a lot of thought into the writing of this text hack, I hope you enjoy. Please rate and comment. :)

(I had originally planned to upload this video right after Koopa Reviews: Ice Hockey. Sadly, recording issues made the progress of this project long and slow. Well, it's finally up.)
(I also like it how the recordings retained their stereo sound. :D)
