Been wanting to try Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang for the longest time - procrastinating for awhile due to my low spice tolerance. The chicken leg they serve were huge, meaty and incredibly tender. I went with all 4 grilled chicken options, which are the Taliwang, Balado, Cabe Ijo and Kecap Manis. For those that may or may not know, Hainanese Curry Rice is a uniquely Singaporean dish inspired by British, Hainanese and Peranakan settlers in Singapore. A standard serving would include a fried egg, pork chops, braised pork belly and braised cabbage piled on white rice before being smothered by a thick, fragrant curry. Different restaurants would have their own take on the curry and toppings provided, with the curry usually being thick but varying in taste.I got around 12 portions of rice, a pile of braised cabbage, 1 fried eggs (regret not getting more), braised pork belly, pork chops, curried chicken assam squid and some batang fish. Total cost for my plate is $88 bucks. The unique thing about the fried rice here is that they fried it on a massive hot plate, similar to teppanyaki and it's wrapped in a banana leaf when it's served. Taste wise it's pretty good, nicely seasoned, a little on the sweet side. Would prefer it to be a little more moist or oilier. Not the best fried rice I've had but definitely the most I've eaten in one sitting. Do note that this night market only operates on Tuesday and they start at around 5pm till late. Some of the food items that I'll recommend are the -Prawn Fritters - Crispy and tasty super affordable. Chee Chong Fun - Very different from the ones in Singapore, has got a nice selection of toppings you can add on, reminds me of Yong Tau Foo Fried Chicken - One of their classic, fry to perfection, super juicy. Oyster Omelette - Solid oyster omelette, very well balance but be prepare to wait. We got the 3 Little Pigs, (My favorite) Iberico Pork Spare Ribs Platter and the Crackling Pork Knuckle with Assorted German Sausages Plater. Most of their pork dishes were pretty damn good, however I find the Iberico Pork Ribs a little too fatty for my liking. The total weight of all 3 platter adds up to be little over 5kg which is super rough since I'm very off practice.
