INSIDE OUT CHALLENGE - Part 4 // WHO AM I?! lilmoonchildd 2018-08-24 | Hi guys! Here is my latest #insideouthallenge video! The Inside Out Challenge was created by @lilmoonchildd Dec 2017 and quickly became a viral internet movement. It challenged all those that have mental health issues to use makeup to show the world what their otherwise invisible struggles looked like. The challenge was featured on Allure Magazine, Cosmopolitan magazine, Times of India, CTV news Vancouver just to name a few. This one was definitely the hardest one to do. Instead of using makeup to show a specific mental health issue that I've struggled with (i.e. anxiety, depression), I tried to capture some deep experiences that have contributed to my depression and anxiety. I've always struggled with my family moving us back and forth to the Middle East and it resulted in me being very confused about my identity. I was alienated from both inside our home, as my family struggled with the challenges they were faced as immigrants, and from outside the home as well. I was living in a small town in Idaho during the time of 9/11 and experienced an incredible amount of racism and discrimination at school. I was Middle Eastern, spoke broken English, and my unibrow and large unruly black hair made me look very different from my fellow classmates. In this video I tried to showcase some of those struggles, this the kind of stuff that usually stays locked away inside me. Thanks for taking the time to watch my fourth Inside Out Challenge!
