Quest 3: A Filmmakers Dream | Meta Quest HDMI Link + Canon C200 Paul Bryan TV 2024-10-24 | So Meta have recently released the HDMI Link app that allows you to connect a capture card to your headset and play any HDMI sources straight into the headset.Most people use this for playing console games in the headset, but I decided to see if we could connect our cameras to the headset to turn it into a space sensitive large format monitor.Surprisingly it worked, but with some caveats.First one being, you must make sure your camera is recording at the available res of the HDMI input Meta allows (which seemed to max at 1440x900 at 60fps).This may be fixable, I just don't know how yet, so can only currently record at 1080p 60fps on the C200. Sure there will be workarounds.Second is that the screen cannot 'stick' on your vision, it's placed in the world like an object so you can move around it. I'd personally like it to be stuck to my face in a specific spot while I move.Also the recording picked up two audio sources, hence the echo, one was the direct mic input as normal, second was the HDMI passthrough.Only an issue when recording in the headset ofcourse, nothing on the original camera feed. I should of muted it!Overall it worked really well, it gives you a customisable direct monitor of your feed (including audio) that you can move and place in the world.You also have spatial awareness due to the lovely passthrough cameras of the Quest 3.Anyway, go give it a try, see if you get any use out of it and let me know any tips or tricks you discover!Gear:Meta Quest 3Meta HDMI Link appAvermedia BU110 Capture CardCanon C200Davinci Resolve Studio#metaquest3 #quest3 #canonc200 #cinematography
