In this video, I will introduce to you Thailand's Unmatched BBQ Hotpot. Thai Hotpot is also known as Mukratha or Mukoota/หมูกระทABOUT THAI HOTPOT Mu kratha (Thai: หมูกระทะ, ) is a Southeast Asian cooking method, originating in Thailand. In Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia, it is known as mookata. In Laos, it is knows as Sindad.Mu kratha means 'pan pork' in Thai (mu is 'pig' or 'pork' and kratha is 'pan' or 'skillet'). Mu kratha resembles a Chinese hot pot. The Thai version uses charcoal. The dining concept spread throughout Thailand and into Laos, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.PREPARATION & SERVINGSliced meat (most often pork) is grilled on the dome in the centre while the vegetables and other ingredients, such as fish balls, cook in the soup (also called Thai suki). The hot pot sits on a pail of burning charcoal which grills or boils the food. The best foods for this cooking method are pork, chicken, mutton, lamb, seafood, vegetables, and mushrooms. The local traditional Thai mu kratha is usually served with nam chim suki, a popular dipping sauce. $10 Street Food Challenge at Thai Food Fest! 🇹🇭 Kayiwa Craves 2026-06-23 | Can you really enjoy an incredible night of Thai street food with just $10 USD? In this episode of Kayiwa Craves, I head to the lively Thai Food Fest at Ping Mache Park, Udomsuk, Bangkok to find out exactly how far my budget can take me. Surrounded by colorful lights, delicious aromas, and hundreds of hungry festival-goers, I set myself a simple challenge: eat as much amazing Thai street food as possible without spending more than ten dollars. What followed was an unforgettable evening filled with authentic flavors, skilled vendors, and some surprising discoveries.My first stop was a stall selling Khanom Buang, Thailand's famous crispy crepes. Fresh batter was spread paper-thin onto a hot griddle before being filled with sweet cream and traditional toppings. The result was a light, crunchy snack packed with flavor and texture, proving that some of Thailand's best foods come in small packages.Next, I couldn't resist trying Roti Saimai, one of Thailand's most unique desserts. Watching the vendor stretch the roti into an incredibly thin sheet before wrapping it around colorful strands of sweet candy floss was fascinating. The combination of soft roti and delicate sugary strands created a dessert that literally melts in your mouth.As the evening continued, the smoky aroma of charcoal drew me toward a grill loaded with pork cord and grilled pork intestines. These skewers were slowly cooked over glowing coals and brushed with a flavorful glaze that created a beautiful caramelized finish. Rich, smoky, and surprisingly delicious, this was a perfect example of why adventurous eaters love Thai street food.After the savory feast, I cooled down with a refreshing passionfruit and watermelon fruit drink. Made fresh to order using real fruit and ice, it delivered the perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess. On a warm Bangkok evening, it was exactly what I needed to recharge before continuing the challenge.For the final stop, I discovered something I had never seen before—shrimp donuts. These crispy golden snacks were fried fresh and filled with juicy shrimp, creating an incredible contrast between crunchy batter and tender seafood. One bite was enough to understand why people were lining up for them.By the end of the challenge, I had enjoyed five different foods and drinks while spending only 230 Thai Baht (approximately $6.50 USD). Not only did I stay within budget, but I still had money left over. The result is a light, sweet, and melt-in-your-mouth treat that delights both locals and tourists.INGREDIENTSFor the Roti:• 2 cups all-purpose flour• 1/2 teaspoon salt• 1 tablespoon vegetable oil• 3/4 cup warm waterFor the Saimai (Spun Sugar Candy):• 2 cups granulated sugar• 1/2 cup maltose syrup• 1/2 cup water• Natural food coloring (optional)METHODPrepare the roti dough by mixing flour and salt. Located in the historic city of Ayutthaya, this ancient temple is one of the most iconic and visually stunning sites in all of Thailand.As I walked through the ruins, surrounded by towering prangs and centuries-old structures, it felt like stepping back into time—into the heart of a once powerful kingdom. The symmetry, the scale, and the silence of this place create an atmosphere that’s both peaceful and powerful. Every corner tells a story.But this beauty also carries a deep history. Wat Chaiwatthanaram was heavily damaged during the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, when invading forces destroyed much of the city. Today, what remains are hauntingly beautiful ruins—headless Buddha statues, weathered brick towers, and a layout that still reflects the grandeur of the past.This video captures my raw first impressions, the stunning architecture, and the emotional impact of being in such a historic place.
