How to Pick Spool and Mushroom Pins (Lock Picking Security Pins) Von Malegowski 2022-01-04 | This video is about how to open pin tumbler locks with spool or mushroom pins. Spool pins and mushroom pins act in a similar way but mushroom pins act a little different when positioned with the small part at the top. The spool pin is the most commonly used security pin in locks likely due to its simplicity and ease of manufacturing. Spool pins have the same diameter as standard pins on the top and the bottom but are narrower in the middle. This creates a lip on the top of the pin which is designed to catch on the shear line preventing the lock from turning. Spool and mushroom pins are a type of security pin and are designed to prevent lockpicking, resist decoding, impressioning, key bumping, and other compromise techniques. Security pins are typically found in more expensive locks. They disrupt the feedback you get when picking a lock but if you are able to identify the kind of feedback you are getting you can determine what type of security pin it is. Spool and mushroom pins are easy to detect because of the rotation of the plug when the narrow section is caught in the shear line causing a false set. Spore prints are made by allowing spores of a fungal fruit body to fall onto a surface underneath. The spores fall in the pattern of the gills or pores of the mushroom and will vary in color depending on the type of mushroom. Each spore is a single cell that is capable of sending out a hypha that will develop into a group and form its own mycelium. Spore prints can assist with the identification of wild mushrooms as well as be used for mushroom cultivation. For mushroom cultivation, the mushroom spores are added to sterile water and put into a syringe. The syringe should be tested on agar first to ensure that there is no contamination before using it on grain spawn. The agar can then be used to make a liquid culture or be added to grain spawn. Mushroom spores syringes are less reliable when added directly to grain spawn. Cyanoacrylate super glue reacts with the traces of amino acids, fatty acids, and proteins in the latent fingerprint and the moisture in the air to produce a visible, white polycyanoacrylate that forms along the ridges of the fingerprint. This reaction takes place faster when the cyanoacrylate is heated inside of a chamber with some water inside to provide humidity. Fingerprint powders can potentially contaminate the evidence and ruin the opportunity to perform other techniques that could turn up a hidden print or additional information. Therefore, investigators may examine the area with an alternate light source or perform cyanoacrylate (superglue) fuming before using powders.Latent prints are not readily visible to the naked eye and must be developed in some way to increase their visibility and contrast. How to Grow Mushrooms: Making Grain Spawn Jars Von Malegowski 2021-07-18 | This video is about how to make grain spawn jars for growing mushrooms. Grain spawn is any cereal grain that has been inoculated with mycelium. Mycelium acts as the root system for a mushroom and consists of a fine network of filaments. The purpose of grain spawn is to allow the mycelium to multiply in a controlled environment. When the grain spawn has fully colonized the jar the grain kernels can be broken up and can be added to a bulk substrate. The mycelium will then colonize the bulk substrate and form fruiting bodies which are the mushrooms. Making grain spawn jars is an easy and simple way to get into growing mushrooms and determine if it is something you would be interested in. Sterilization is essential because mold spores or bacteria will compete for the nutrients in the grain and can outgrow the mushroom mycelium. The cotton ball on the jar lids allows for some gas exchange while preventing contaminants from getting in the jar. The grain spawn should be white and fluffy. A decoy owl is a bird and pest repellent solution that uses a realistic-looking owl that is meant to intimidate birds and pests to avoid the area. They are typically used in a visible location to keep birds like pigeons and pests like mice away. The owl camera, therefore, can serve the function as a security or surveillance camera as well as still functioning as a decoy owl. The added motion from the rotating base actually makes the owl more effective as a bird and pest deterrent. Tempura batter is traditionally mixed in small batches using chopsticks for only a few seconds, leaving lumps in the mixture that, along with the cold batter temperature, result in the unique fluffy and crisp tempura structure when cooked.The batter is often kept cold by adding ice. Overmixing the batter will result in the activation of wheat gluten, which causes the flour mixture to become soft and dough-like when fried. Specially formulated tempura flour is available in some supermarkets. The cast-iron skillet is used to sear the steak and it is then finished in the oven. This is a great way to prepare a steak that is crusty on the outside and juicy on the inside. Making Cow Horn Candles Inspired By Skyrim Von Malegowski 2019-06-30 | I show how I made two candles from cow horns. The horns I am using have been dried out for a long time, so it was easy to get the porous bone inside of them out. After it is out I used a wire armature made from a coat hanger to determine where to cut the horns at. After the horns are cut I sanded and polished them. The horns were then filled with sand and sealed with wax. I made sure there was enough room for a tea candle to fit on the top of the horns. The legs were made from metal coat hangers because it was a simple solution. This project was inspired by the horn candles from the game Skyrim. It is very easy to do and only requires a few basic tools. The wiper inserts can be easily found from a pick and pull type scrap yard. The bending process is pretty straightforward but try not to make the bend curved and not too sharp or it may break. The ones I have made are comparable to the one you would get from a lock pick kit. How to Make Great Crispy Roasted Potatoes Von Malegowski 2018-03-24 | I show how to make simple crispy roasted potatoes. The end product is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It uses a few techniques to make the potatoes crispy such as using some baking soda in the parboil water. As well as roughing up the potatoes in garlic and rosemary infused olive oil, so they are covered in a bit of mash. They are pretty easy to make and can be used as an excellent side to almost any dish. What You will need: - Potatoes (4 lbs/1.8kg) - Kosher Salt (2 tbsp)- Baking Soda (½ tsp)- Olive Oil (5 tbsp)- Garlic (3 Cloves)- Rosemary (About 2 tbsp)If you enjoy the channel, please support Von Malegowski:- paypal.me/VonMalegowski- patreon.com/vonmalegowskiInstructions: - Peel and cut the potatoes into about 2 to 3 inch chunks. Parboil: - Now we are going to parboil the potatoes. - Heat a large pot with about 2 liters of water until it starts boiling. - Add 2 tablespoons kosher salt. - Add a ½ teaspoon baking soda.- The baking soda will make the water slightly alkaline which allows the outside of the potatoes to become more crispy. - Add the potato chunks and stir. - Let it come to a boil again then reduce to a simmer for about 10 minutes. Infused Oil:- To give the potatoes some flavour you can infuse some olive oil with rosemary and garlic. - Use a small saucepan on medium heat and add about 5 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp chopped rosemary and 3 cloves minced garlic.- Stir the pan and take it off when the garlic just begins to turn golden brown. - Strain the oil into a bowl and set it and the herbs and garlic aside. Roughing Up: - Once the potatoes are cooked, carefully drain and leave so some steam comes off. - Add the potatoes to the bowl with the oil and add some salt and pepper. - Now toss them in the oil until the outsides of the potatoes become ruffed up. - The crispness will come from roughing up the boiled potatoes as a thin layer of mashed potato surrounds the chunks. - This is what becomes crispy in the oven. Baking: - Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). - Place the potatoes on a baking sheet and spread them out evenly.- Put the baking sheet on the middle rack and cook for about 50 minutes to an hour. - To make sure the potatoes are evenly cooked and don’t stick to the baking tray flip them over after about 20-30 minutes. - Then leave them in for another 30 minutes while flipping occasionally. - You can also take them out when they have the desired crispiness. - Place the potatoes in a bowl and add the cooked garlic and rosemary. - Add some more salt and pepper and toss. - Now they are ready to be served. - These are only guidelines and you may need to experiment a bit to get the best results. The brush I use is a zephyr fiberglass fingerprint brush and the powder is lightning powder which is a black latent fingerprint powder. Fingerprint patterns and characteristics are formed before birth. They will remain unchanged until decomposition destroys them after death, or unless the dermal layer is injured, producing a scar. Our fingers have friction ridges which are composed of rows of sweat pores, or eccrine glands, that constantly secrete perspiration. This perspiration along with grease and oil transferred from other parts of the body adheres to the friction skin and is transferred from the skin to other surfaces when contact is made with objects. The transferred outline of the friction ridges is what is known as a latent print. The method I show in this video is to physically enhance the latent prints by applying fingerprint powder. Fingerprint powder is composed of many different ingredients that can vary greatly depending on the formula used. Most black fingerprint powders contain rosin, black ferric oxide and lampblack. Many also contain inorganic chemicals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, copper, silicon, titanium and bismuth. Fingerprint powder is applied by brushing it onto the surface and works by mechanically adhering to the oil and moisture components of the latent print. When the powder particles adhere to the grease or moisture forming the latent prints, it causes them to become visible. Pineapples or ananas are easy to grow as houseplants and can be made from the crown of a store-bought pineapple. After you have a pineapple, twist the leaves off the top, Strip off some of the lower leaves to expose the stem, and soak the base in water for a few weeks. You may need to set the stem/stalk aside for a few days to allow the cut to dry before soaking it. This is because pineapples are very susceptible to rot, but I've found better success for myself by not drying them out. So you may need to do some experimentation. Roots should start to grow and after they are a few inches long the crown can be planted in soil. It’ll likely take 2-3 years to get fruit so you can enjoy having a tropical plant until then. You can modify the ratios to find what works best for you, this may take some experimentation. To make a 4 ounce batch of thermite, weigh out 3 ounces of iron oxide. Then weigh out 1 ounce of aluminum powder. Dump them into a sealable container, and put the top on. Shake them until the color is consistent throughout. Having the correct balance of fuel and oxidizer is key to having a stable burn in a thermite reaction. You could hit it or move it to remove the thermite that hasn't started burning yet from the burning thermite but this would only reduce the burn not put it out. This is a very easy method to seal food in mostly air-free freezer bags. When you freeze food in bags you want them to be air free because air will dry out foods like meat and cause it to lose flavor, texture, and sometimes even color. It also helps to prevent freezer burn and is useful for marinating. The food is placed into the bag and it is sealed with a little section at the end open. The bag is dipped into the water and the air escapes through the opening. The open section is sealed and the bag is lifted from the water. Rinse the strawberries under cool running water and gently pat dry. The strawberries need to be completely dry before dipping, let them air-dry if necessary.2. Fill the bottom of a saucepan with an inch or two of water and bring the water to a simmer over medium-high heat. Transfer all the chocolate into the heatproof bowl and set this over the simmering water. Let the chocolate melt, stirring occasionally, until no more lumps remain. Remove the bowl with the chocolate from heat. 3. Set the bowl of melted chocolate in front of you on a towel. Set the dried strawberries out as well as some parchment paper or plastic wrap. 4. Working with one strawberry at a time, grasp the strawberry by the top leaves and dip it into the chocolate. Turn or swirl the strawberry as needed to completely coat it in chocolate. Lift the strawberry out and shake gently to remove excess chocolate.5. Carefully lay the dipped strawberry on its side on the parchment paper. Repeat with dipping the remaining strawberries.6. They are a filled French choux pastry ball with a typically sweet and moist filling of whipped cream, custard, pastry cream, or ice cream. The puffs may be decorated or left plain or garnished with chocolate sauce, caramel, or a dusting of powdered sugar. They are very similar to a éclair which is an oblong pastry made with the same dough as the cream puff and filled with a cream and topped with icing. It contains only butter, water, flour, and eggs. Instead of a raising agent, it employs high moisture content to create steam during cooking to puff the pastry. The choux pastry paste is piped through a pastry bag or dropped with a pair of spoons into small balls and baked to form largely hollow puffs. After cooling, the baked puffs are injected with filling using a pastry bag and narrow piping tip, or by slicing off the top, filling them, and reassembling. For sweet cream puffs, additional glazes or decorations may then be added.The most common presentations are pastry cream, whipped cream, or ice cream filling, topped with powdered sugar or chocolate ganache and possibly more whipped cream. In a medium sauce pot, add butter, sugar, salt, milk, and water. Set to medium heat to melt the butter completely and bring to a boil. Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl, sift flour and set aside.2. As soon as it starts to boil take it off the heat. Add flour all at once then stir until combined.3. Bring the pot back to the heat. Stir constantly until it starts to form a ball and there is a thin layer sticking to the bottom of the pot. Transfer it to a bowl and let it cool for about 5 minutes.4. Add the eggs one at a time, mix well after each addition. The dough should be sticky not slick and should be stiff enough to hold a peak but be able to fall from the spoon. 5. Transfer the dough to a pastry/piping/icing bag with a large tip. 6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pipe the choux dough on to the baking sheet into 1.5 inch balls. You can also use two spoons to make the dough into balls on the baking sheet. Once you get to the size swirl the tip. If the dough balls get pointed tips dip your finger in water and slightly push down the little pointy parts. 7. Bake at 400° F. (200° C.) for about 20 minutes, or until they are well swollen and golden brown. Cooking time varies depending on the size of choux you piped.8. Once out of the oven check the inside of one of the puffs to make sure it is dry. If it is wet inside you can put them back in the oven for a few minutes. When they are done let them cool completely. 9. To fill the creampuffs you can cut them in half and add the filling. Or you can cut an ‘X’ shape in the bottom and inject them with your filling of choice. Once filled with any kind of cream filling, they must be stored in the refrigerator. Whipped Cream Instructions: 1. Pour the whipping cream/heavy cream into a mixing bowl. Add the powder sugar, and vanilla extract. 2. Put the mixing bowl and mixer whisk in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or longer. This will help the cream have stiffer peaks. 3. At medium-high speed, whip until thickened and stiff peaks have formed.Tips: 1. A éclair uses the same dough as the cream puff but is made into an oblong shape.2. Don’t open the oven door during baking because the cream puff may collapse.3. Before you put them in the oven you can brush the tops of the puffs with a little bit of egg wash to give them a golden amber shine when they come out. 4. If you want the cream puff to be really crisp, fill shortly before you are about to serve. It took 2 Minutes and 50 seconds for the lock to open. Some other locks that can be opened with a blowtorch are the Master Lock 22D which has a die-cast zinc body and an Abus 24RK Diskus which has a zinc part around the lock cylinder.
