A break from my video uploads from New Zealand, welcome aboard my first flight on the Airbus A321neo! One of the best flights I've ever taken, here's a short hop on TS590 from Montreal to Toronto! This aircraft, C-GOIF, is the second A321neo for Air Transat out of 16 on order and are usually used for transatlantic flights between Montreal and Europe while doing short-haul routes in between. Even though this is the most comfortable mode of transportation between Montreal and Toronto, this aircraft type operates only once a week (Saturday) as there are currently only two in the fleet at this time. This and C-GOIE are the only two A321neo aircraft registered in Canada, and as such, they are definitely the best single-aisle aircraft in Canada now.
There were lots of complex storms along the way that provided a spectacular view from above. This is part of a larger system that involved loud thunderstorms rolling through Montreal last night, which meant I was pretty much unable to get sleep at all.
Since our short flight encountered quite a bit of turbulence, the crew were unable to provide drinks and snacks service along the way, so I was unable to review that, nor was I able to film the cabin walkaround as well as other aircraft parts like the toilets. The quick turnaround at YYZ meant that I don't think it's wise to ask for a cockpit picture to avoid distracting the crew too much.
I had always wanted to go on an A321neo and on one that's powered by the PW1000G engine as it is an aircraft with such unique technology, but for the most part, it was quite difficult to encounter this aircraft type since it is so new. This trip is sorta like an extension to my trip to New Zealand since Air New Zealand operates the exact same aircraft type with the same engines, but their routes (all were international) did not fit my travel plans.
Fun fact: this is my first time on Air Transat (a very good first impression) and my first time on an Airbus aircraft in Canada in more than 12 years, the last time being on Cathay Pacific's A340-300 in 2007. This A321neo is also configured as an A321LR with 7,400 km range and a max takeoff weight of 97,000 kg (weight variant 072 in the Airbus manual).

On 23 February 2024, I flew back home from Ottawa to Vancouver after the conclusion of the Frayme Learning Institute, with two full days of mental health conference programming bringing us valuable tools and calls to action to improve access for mental health services. I was one of the moderators there which brought me the opportunity to emcee a couple of presentations there, and helping out with their logistics! Like my outbound flight, this 4 h 35 min flight across the country was operated by one of Air Canada's 39 Boeing 787 Dreamliners (8x 787-8, 31x 787-9).
There is no denying that Canada is an incredibly beautiful country. From the hundreds of thousands of lakes in Ontario alone, to the vast prairies that make up the bulk of Canada's agricultural lands, to the varied and dramatic Rockies and Coastal mountains in the west, and to the unique landscapes of the far north, there is something for everyone to enjoy while spending time in this country. But there is also no denying that Canada is one of the most difficult countries to develop a viable air transport network, known for rather steep prices for domestic airfares (though Canada is not alone in this), geographical isolation, and with significantly fewer variety of airlines compared to other countries of a similar size; these are significant barriers to connecting communities across the country. This is one of the most significant sources of mental health troubles for a significant portion of the population in Canada, one that I wish for governments and advocates to work together to overcome these barriers in spite of geographical and geopolitical challenges. Furthermore, this flight was filmed less than a day after Lynx Air's announcement of ceasing operations, giving us less choices to travel and a result of a challenging operating environment. Frayme paid for the flight tickets for this trip, and so it is why I enjoyed it to the very fullest, and spent lots of quality time with new and old friends there.
This aircraft, C-FRSR, is just under 7 years old and likely has undergone its first D-check a few months before our flight, and everything in the cabin looks pristine, just as good as new. The window fogging problem was completely absent on this flight, and so the footage from this flight was significantly better, even though we were chasing the sunset for much of this flight. We were treated to spectacular views through the clouds on climbout, as well as of Algonquin Park. For dinner on the flight I had mac & cheese which was really good.

On 21-22 February 2024, I was offered the opportunity to take part in the annual Frayme Learning Institute as a moderator, where I got to host and emcee presentations and workshops throughout this mental health conference! I flew to Ottawa for this occasion, and we had our event at the amazing Fairmont Château Laurier, one of the most famous and iconic hotels in the world.
Our theme this year, "Driving Expertise Into Action", reflects our mandate to transform what we learned in the presentations and workshops into calls for action to improve the state of mental health in Canada, in the youth mental health & substance use sector. Throughout our programming, we felt empowered and inspired and I really enjoyed the opportunity to be an emcee, and being a public speaker and slam poet myself, emceeing the first time was especially exciting! We got to meet new and old friends, and everyone there was so uplifting which really warmed my heart.
A special thank you goes out to the Frayme staff for this wonderful opportunity and along with all the speakers, for making this event possible! Hard to find words that fully expresses my gratitude for everyone at Frayme!

On 19 February 2024, I flew across the country from Vancouver to Ottawa to take part in the Frayme Learning Institute, a mental health summit, where I had been selected as one of the moderators to emcee the presentations and workshops there! I had a great time reconnecting with friends over there and enjoying the event venue, the Fairmont Château Laurier, one of the most famous and iconic 5-star hotels in the world.
For the month of January and February, the airline put into operation the 787-9 on this route on the AC342/AC345 rotation, replacing the 737 MAX, giving us the rather rare opportunity to fly on a widebody flight to and from Ottawa, also the smallest city that I have flown in a widebody aircraft to. Highlights include the business class meal that I ordered for $18, a limited quantity item, and some spectacular views of the Rockies. However, the 787 is known for window fogging that occurs on long overnight flights (our aircraft came from Auckland, New Zealand right before our flight), and coupled with a likely maintenance-related issue with the window seals allowing humidity to go inside, multiple windows fogged and iced up during our flight. Most of the flight is still viewable as my GoPro does tend to focus more on further objects like the wingtip and landscape. This (and the dimming windows) makes the 787 one of the more difficult aircraft to film full flights on, and for this reason this is only the first time a 787 has been featured on my channel as a full flight. My return flight on another 787 was free of this problem and having filmed that full flight as well, that will more or less compensate for this situation.
Other than that, it was a nice flight! I was flying with two of my friends who were also going to Frayme, and they enjoyed it as well. As a Frayme Groundbreaker, I was very satisfied with the whole event experience!

I had a busy afternoon that day which meant not having enough time to take the ferries to Victoria, so the 25 min seaplane flight is the quickest option!
It's been almost three years since my first time on Harbour Air (and on any seaplane) in March 2021, a few changes have been made, most notably the in-seat flotation device installed in accordance to recent changes in Transport Canada's seaplane safety regulations, different schedules with different flight numbers, and minor changes in the booking process. Being on a seaplane is an experience that will maintain its novelty throughout, and although this is a point to point flight (as opposed to their seaplane tours around the city), it is still one of the best flightseeing options that you can take in the south coast of British Columbia.

On 5 August 2023 after the conclusion of the Outward Bound Canada journey in Canmore, I flew back home to Vancouver. It was a beautiful evening and I had a great time enjoying the views outside as well as the excellent service and hospitality provided by Air Canada. Although I have flown and filmed this route the year before, this one featured different scenery being filmed in a different season and different time of day.
This aircraft was part of the original batch of A320s delivered to Air Canada in the 1990-early 2000's, and still features the original cabin fixtures as well as the EIS1 avionics complete with the CRT screens in the cockpit. The A320 and A321 will be refitted with a new cabin with Airspace cabin fixtures as well as new seats like those on the A220 providing a consistent product across the fleet. Currently, only C-GITU (the A321 with the Star Alliance livery) has this new cabin in service.

On 31 July 2023, I flew on this early morning flight from Vancouver to Calgary to take part in the second portion of the Outward Bound Canada Training Academy, the foundations backpacking journey in Canmore, Alberta! It is my first time there as well as my first time doing long-distance backpacking.
This early morning rotation is the only flight between Vancouver and Calgary that is operated by its subsidiary brand Air Canada Express which Jazz Aviation operates the aircraft. The rest of the flights on this route are operated by mainline aircraft. Highlights include being my first time on a CRJ series aircraft with inflight entertainment screens (the only CRJ airline in the world to do so), and my first time on such aircraft in over 7 years (last time being Delta Connection from New York to Montreal in 2016). The CRJ-900 was based upon the earlier CRJ-100/200 series which in turn derived from the Challenger 604 business jet which still shares a similar cockpit with. Having now had experience with the Hot Start Challenger 650 on X-Plane 11, I could see my flight from a new perspective and how I know much more about it than before. The skies were clear throughout our whole flight and we were treated with spectacular views of the mountains.
The Outward Bound Canada Training Academy is a free, fully-funded outdoor education and training program for adults, running both educational programs and practical training like the backpacking trip I did. I can highly recommend it for anyone who loves the outdoors.

Frayme is an organization that partners with service providers to improve access to mental health resources nationwide. In our Learning Institute, we've had a multitude of mental health service providers display in an exhibition format, as well as presenters from them leading workshops, panelist sessions, and keynote speeches from key people who work in the field of mental health. Our theme was Great Big Stories, reflecting that a key part of mental health care is personal storytelling of lived experience and other kinds of experiences.
Our 2023 event was held in the Hyatt Regency in Vancouver, the first time that Frayme has ever had an event on the West Coast. Frayme is headquartered in Ottawa as a subsidiary of The Royal, a specialist mental health provider providing treatment to people with complex mental health conditions. The event has a lot of similarity to jack.org's National Jack Summit, the main difference with Frayme being more of an exhibition format and jack.org being more of a hands-on format in delivery. We very much enjoyed the fabulous evening receptions (two different events) on the first two days, as well as the amazing food and meeting new people there.

On 24 April 2023, I flew back with my friend from Powell River to Vancouver after spending the day in Powell River to deliver Jack Talks at a high school, mental health talks program run by jack.org, a Canadian mental health organization. We toured the city and had lots of fun there.
The Saab 340 is a Swedish built turboprop built at their factory in Linköping, Östergötland, about 180 km southwest of Stockholm. It is the other major aircraft type at Pacific Coastal Airlines, operating both the 340A and B variant, with some of the aircraft also operating for WestJet Link. Although not operated by Pacific Coastal, the Saab 2000 is an upgraded and lengthened variant of this aircraft, though it remains extremely rare as only 63 were built. Our return flight was originally scheduled to be with a Beechcraft 1900, but was changed to the Saab 340A a few weeks after we made the booking (a few days before our flight). In contrast to the flight that morning, the skies cleared up and we were treated with spectacular views of the Sunshine Coast the entire way down to Vancouver.
The main differences between the 340A and B variant at Pacific Coastal is the seat layout: 340A has a luggage storage at the front and the lavatory at the rear, while the 340B has the lavatory at the front and an additional row of seats at the rear.
This flight marks my first time on a European-built turboprop, and my first time on a turboprop with engines that is not from Pratt & Whitney.

On 24 April 2023, I flew to Powell River with my friend to deliver Jack Talks to a high school in Powell River! Jack Talks are mental health talks organized by jack.org, a leading Canadian mental health charity, and the talk focuses on the basics of mental health (including statistics), being there for ourselves and others, storytelling, and resources to reach out both for yourself and others.
This was my first time in Powell River and also my first Jack Talk involving air travel, reflecting the geographical situation of the town that it is a fly-in, fly-out community, this flight being a lifeline to connect this community to the outside world through Vancouver. It was so spectacular to do public speaking in such an amazing location. Though we did not stay overnight there, it was wonderful to get away from the stresses of a big city like Vancouver, and after our talks, one of the school counselors gave us a tour around. Everyone there was so nice and it makes me want to come back again some day.
The flight itself was also spectacular and eventful. Though much of the route was cloudy, we had to do a missed approach while doing the RNAV 27 approach as we couldn't see the runway at minimums. We then turned around and landed on 09 where there was better visibility despite a moderate tailwind. I got photos of the cockpit at the end of the flight.
Thanks to Pacific Coastal Airlines for delivering such a wonderful service and making our visit to Powell River a reality, and thank you to jack.org and the Powell River high school for booking our talk and making this trip possible!

On 26 November 2022, I flew from Amsterdam back home to Vancouver to conclude my two-week European vacation, visiting the Netherlands, Vilnius, and Hamburg. It was so spectacular getting to see and study the sustainable urbanism and architecture of the Netherlands, the Baltic culture of Lithuania, and the sightings of the Airbus Beluga and pre-delivery test aircraft at Airbus in Hamburg-Finkenwerder, along with the Airbus A220 flights on airBaltic.
Highlights include the polar scenery and absolutely spectacular food onboard, the cheezy pasta and shell pasta salad together was probably the best economy meals I've ever had onboard.
The Airbus A330-300 is the original version of the A330, with the A330-200 being a shrunk version of it that was produced later. However, the A330-300 joined the KLM fleet after the -200, though it has not gone through the cabin refurbishment yet. Still, the flight was comfortable and I really enjoyed the wonderful service onboard.

On 24 November 2022, I went to this Airbus factory site to capture video of this very unique aircraft. It is my third time overall seeing it, the first two times also being this week but I only took photos of it. The previous day I was there, I also did the Airbus factory tour, which was very cool!
The Airbus BelugaXL (A330-743L) is based on the Airbus A330-200/-300, and succeeds the Airbus Beluga (A300B4-608ST). Key features include a modern fly-by-wire system common to all Airbus aircraft on and after the A320, and a larger and longer fuselage capable of transporting a pair of A350 wings at once, whereas the previous Beluga could only carry a single A350 wing per flight.
It has been a dream of mine for many years to get to see Airbus aircraft testing at either factory site, and it feels so surreal to finally turn this into reality. I have also flown the inibuilds A300 Beluga on X-Plane 11, making this visit even more special. The observation deck at Finkenwerder is very accessible by transit, bus 150 from Hamburg-Altona Station runs every 20 mins, alight at "Airbus" for the main factory gate, and "Westerweiden Airbus" for the observation deck. Finkenwerder is far more accessible without a car in comparison to the main observation areas at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, the other major Airbus assembly site in Europe.

On 20 November 2022, I flew on airBaltic from Riga, Latvia, to Hamburg, Germany to spend my second half of my two-week European vacation there. I was in Hamburg mainly to tour the Airbus factory and do planespotting there, something that I've dreamed about for many years, it felt so surreal to finally see this come to reality.
As with my other airBaltic flights, the service and the food were excellent. Connecting in Riga was a breeze considering I had a 5 hour layover there, it's a very nice modern airport with touches of Nordic architecture in the terminal making for a very relaxed experience.

On 20 November 2022, I flew on airBaltic in the really early morning from Vilnius, Lithuania to Riga, Latvia, to connect there to go to Hamburg, Germany, my next and last major stop on my European vacation last year. Although this flight between two of the Baltic capitals is one of the airline's busier routes, there were only two flights on that Sunday, only this one worked for my connection to Hamburg. Getting to Vilnius Airport in the early morning was surprisingly easy from the city center, the 88N bus runs every 30 minutes between 12-6 am and the journey takes 15-20 minutes.
Riga is the headquarters of airBaltic, one of the largest airlines in northern Europe, serving almost every country on the continent as well as a handful of destinations in Africa and the Middle East. With a fleet of 40 Airbus A220 as of filming, airBaltic is one of the largest operators of this type, and the only one in the world that is an all-A220 airline.
Highlights include boarding and disembarkation through airstairs in the snow and -10 degree temperatures, as well as deicing.

On 14 November 2022, I went on a day trip from Amsterdam to Utrecht traveling onboard the VIRMm (Verlengd InterRegio Materieel, gemoderniseerd) double-decker train. Although Amsterdam to Utrecht is the busiest train corridor in the country, this section is only a small part of this whole trip this train takes, as it continues to Maastricht in Limburg in the south, taking 2 hours and 30 mins. Amsterdam to Utrecht takes about 25 mins.
My visit to the Netherlands was mostly captured in photos while not having a lot of videos taken, in part due to a rather severe bout of social anxiety that occurred throughout much this trip. Nevertheless, I was able to get a lot of photos where I was studying a lot of the cycling infrastructure and architecture of different Dutch cities thanks to inspiration from Not Just Bikes, that I now advocate for less cars in the city and more viable alternatives to driving. As my home country of Canada completely lacks this kind of frequent intercity train, I can tell you that this is far more pleasant than driving on the highway, while being safer, cleaner, and more punctual.

Although I did not film much from this flight, having prioritized memory card space for other footage on my trip, I really enjoyed this flight as the food and service were fantastic, and the economy class on the A330 was comfortable and well designed.
This flight is special as PH-AOC was the only remaining A330 in the old livery (the only other aircraft in the old livery was a 737-800). This A330 flight meant it was on one of its last flights in this livery before repainting into the new livery at the end of November 2022. As my first time on KLM, the first impressions was great, that I can definitely recommend if you're planning a trip across the Atlantic.

In October 2022, I flew to Calgary for the first time to be a delegate to the Western Jack Summit, a mental health summit in a new format organized by jack.org, Canada's leading charity to revolutionize mental health. We had a great time meeting new people as well as hearing keynote speakers and panelists. We left the event with a brighter mood.
Our return flight was quite eventful. Our original aircraft had a technical problem and so another aircraft was brought in which meant a 3 hour delay, but we didn't have any connections afterwards so we were fine. It turns out that Air Canada rebooked the majority of people onto other flights (mainly those with connections) and so the result is a nearly empty flight, with both myself and my close friend both getting the whole row to ourselves. Being a short one hour flight, the Air Canada Bistro menu wasn't available, though there is a snack and drink service. We had a very nice crew onboard, and although most of the flight was cloudy, I enjoyed this experience very much. Everything in the aircraft felt very familiar considering my three years of experience of flying Toliss Airbus A319/A321 aircraft on the X-Plane 11 flight simulator.

Here is my return flight from Comox to Vancouver that I took in October 2022 after spending two weeks on Vancouver Island at the Outward Bound Canada training academy. Like my other Q400 flight, this was very enjoyable, and everything felt very familiar considering my 11 months of flying experience with the FlyJSim Q4XP on X-Plane 11 before these two flights.
The weather was clear for the first half of the flight before entering a smoke cloud that was caused by bushfires on Vancouver Island. That smoke was hovering over our campsite the previous day and had blown over to the mainland when I took this flight.
Overall, the experience was very similar to my other Q400 flight. As a kind request from some of my friends who have watched my videos, I have added Indigenous land information on the locale information on the top right, changing as the flight progresses.
Likewise, I have filmed this exact route on the Pacific Coastal Airlines Beechcraft 1900D in 2021. Though the Q400 has a higher cruising speed, both flights were spent below 10,000 ft which means both were constrained with the 250 knot speed limit. As a result, both flights were almost exactly the same duration.

This was part of a test of my new Canon Rebel T7 camera, though later in editing an audio glitch would happen every time I zoom in. I think I traced that to a problem in the lens as still images would not capture when zoomed in, though video was mostly fine. That has since been fixed with a new lens.

Earlier this month, I flew from Vancouver to Comox to attend the new Outward Bound Canada Training Academy at the Vancouver Island Mountain Centre! This is one of two daily flights between Vancouver and Comox on Air Canada Express, and takes only 20 minutes from takeoff to landing.
This video has much more detailed captions than usual, as I have had 11 months of experience flying the FlyJSim Q4XP on X-Plane 11 before - this is a very realistic representation of the Q400 on the desktop sim, rivaling in accuracy to the full-sized simulators that pilots train in. As such, because of my detailed knowledge of the aircraft, many features of the aircraft are noted in the captions, such as the doors, cabin, throttle & rpm settings, as well as the usual mentions of landmarks as well. I was seated in 2A, one of the extra-legroom seats, the extra space is preferable for tall people. There was no inflight service other than a crew member handing out water bottles on request.
I have also filmed this route on Pacific Coastal last year in the reverse direction; the Q400 take about 10 mins less flight time than the Beechcraft 1900 due to the higher cruising speed of the Q400.

Overall the summit was absolutely amazing, I got to meet so many new people and famous mental health advocates like Eric Windeler, and guest/keynote speakers like Gemma Hickey, Mumilaaq Qaqqaq, and Kim Pate. I highly recommend applying to the Jack Summit as well as becoming a speaker!

On 19 August to 1 September 2021, I embarked on one of the most memorable events of my life, and my most significant outdoors experience ever: the Outward Bound Canada 14-day Sea Kayaking course (AGV5). It took place on the unceded and unsurrendered lands of the Kwakwaka'wakw, north of Vancouver Island in the Broughton Archipelago. We visited places including Telegraph Cove, Cedar Island, Crease Island, White Cliff Islets, Sedge Island, Crib Island, Echo Bay, Burdwood Group, and Fox Group.
As far as I know, there is no other outdoor organization that provides such a unique opportunity in the outdoors where so many skills are learned. We learned about campcraft, cooking skills, and sea navigation techniques, while exploring hardly visited new places, and making new friendships all along. We've also spent 24 hours solo on Burdwood Group to develop our resilience and independence. Through this experience, I've grown into a braver and more independent person, and I highly recommend Outward Bound programs as a catalyst for growth and to build more experiences to share.

Last summer in August 2021, I took a flight over to Comox on the central part of Vancouver Island to take part in the Outward Bound Canada 14 day sea kayaking expedition, which took place in the northern part of Vancouver Island in the Broughton Archipelago.
This flight is divided into two segments on the same flight number: Vancouver to Campbell River, then Campbell River to Comox. The next leg will be covered in the next video.
Pacific Coastal Airlines is the largest regional airline on the BC coast with its headquarters and hub at the South Terminal of Vancouver International Airport. It operates a fleet of Beechcraft 1900C, 1900D, and Saab 340A/B, some of which are operated on behalf of WestJet Link to serve regional routes in a similar manner as WestJet Encore. As many towns and communities on the BC coast lack road access, air transportation is often the only option for these remote locations, and like most other flights in this airline's network, this flight is a lifeline to connect communities like Campbell River to the outside world via Vancouver.
The Beechcraft 1900 is a 19 seat aircraft that was developed from the King Air 200. The 1900D is the version with the enlarged fuselage with increased headroom, while the 1900C only has as much headroom as on a minivan. Also, there are no window shades, instead there is a strange sunglasses-like tint on all windows, which is why the footage appears discoloured. Production of this aircraft ended in 2002 with 695 built.

This is my first time on Air Canada's A330 with the new cabin featuring new products in all classes. C-GKUH is one of eight A330 acquired second-hand from Singapore Airlines which was in the process of replacing its A330 with A350 aircraft. Although I've filmed a full Montreal to Vancouver flight before, this one features different scenery as the aircraft flew on a more northerly route compared to my A220 flight in March 2021, and also in a different season with different ground textures as a result.
This was a very special flight for me as I was in the process of moving permanently from Montreal to Vancouver, leaving behind the majority of my traumatic experiences I've had in the years that I was studying in Montreal. Furthermore, this flight was filmed just a few days after one of my worst mental health crisis I've experienced, and even though flying is very therapeutic for me, I had to take a lot of care and rest before this flight so I don't feel as worse off.
This was my fourth time on an A330 overall, and my first time on it in 12 years. Curiously, on all my previous A330 flights did they involve airlines that have already closed down or merged, which in this case were Cathay Dragon and Northwest Airlines. This was the last leg of my brief travels in March-April 2021, and seeing from the Air Canada booking page that I could bid for a business class upgrade for a relatively low price, and to bring some variety to my content, I decided to go for it. I set my bid to $110 (vs $120 for the original one way flight in economy) which was confirmed just over the 48 hour limit before departure time. Bidding like this isn't always successful but doing so is almost always cheaper than going straight for business during the initial booking process.
The service was excellent, and business class passengers get inclusive lounge access. I had a wonderful meal both in the Maple Leaf Lounge in Toronto and onboard as well. While the products both in the lounge and onboard will have changed since filming, this is representative of what Air Canada serves onboard during the pandemic. The meals are very tasty and I can definitely recommend it!
While I did not film any video of my experience in the lounge, I created a photo slideshow to make it back up. Stay tuned for a surprise while I share my lounge experience in the beginning!

This was one of my highlight flights of 2021 as the A220-300 rarely operates on the Vancouver to Toronto route in Air Canada, as the airline prefers to operate wide-body aircraft (A330, 777, 787) and larger single aisle aircraft (like the A321) on this route. With lower passenger numbers in the pandemic, the A220 has been seen on this route a couple of times.
While there isn't much to review with the onboard service, much of this video shows the view outside as the weather was very beautiful that day, showing the mountains of BC very well. As more than half of this flight is at night, I did not film the full flight as there would be relatively little to see after sunset.
All in all, the well designed cabin of the A220 really enhances the flight experience overall. We had a very nice crew onboard, one of whom complemented the A220 tag I have on my backpack. Coming to Toronto, it was already 1 in the morning and all public transport has stopped service, so I called a carpool driver I personally knew, who would take me to the Delta hotel beside Union Station, which is normally easily reached by the Union Pearson Express train.

Here is a ride on route 72 Downtown from Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal to downtown Victoria, one of two main routes connecting the BC Ferries terminal with the city centre, the other being 70 which is an express route.
BC Transit ordered 11 of these new buses in 2020 (numbered 9532-9542) to replace 10 of the oldest double deckers, the Dennis Trident built in 2000. BC Transit was the first user of double deckers in bus transit in North America, as the short city blocks in downtown Victoria and elsewhere in the city precludes the use of articulated buses. These new buses were delivered in early 2021 and entered service in late March 2021.
There are many new features introduced on this series of buses, including: *USB ports *Vinyl seats *New driver door *Redesigned wheelchair securements *Lower deck screen showing seat availability upstairs *Side docking lights outside for better visibility at bus stop at night

The Twin Otter is a development of the very successful DHC-3 Otter, a single engine piston or turboprop aircraft. It has two engines and a longer fuselage, straighter and taller tail, and an enlarged wing. From the steep runway at Lukla, Nepal, to the snow/ice-covered research base airports in Antarctica, to the super-short 400 m runway at Saba in the Caribbean, the STOL capabilities of the Twin Otter means that it is found all over the world with over 900 built. Production was restarted in 2008 with Viking Air of North Saanich, BC, enabling many essential air routes to continue using this aircraft for many decades to come.

Here, I'll take you on a full flight from Montreal to Vancouver on the Airbus A220-300 (Bombardier CS300) on March 1, one of the longest domestic routes in Canada. While I do not recommend non-essential travel at this time, my trip was done for essential family reasons, and that I was so excited to get on a plane in such a long time.
This was such a fabulous product. In such times of difficulty, I have shown as much support and gratitude as I can for people who work in the aviation industry, and on my flight, the crew were very welcoming and caring for the passengers, which despite the lack of formal seat-blocking, the gate agents tried to spread out the passengers as much as possible which I did get an empty seat next to me. While there isn't really a complementary meal service, there was a snack, some drinks, as well as personal hygiene products in the form of the CleanCare+ package.
With the suspension of airBaltic's Riga to Abu Dhabi service, Air Canada's Montreal to Vancouver service is now the longest A220 flight in the world, and at the time of filming, there were three daily flights on this route, the one in the morning being operated by the A330-300 (AC301), and the night service, AC311 with the A220. As of posting there are now two flights on this route, AC301 and AC311, due to reduced demand.

Fresh out of the paint shop, C-GJYI is the 10th of 45 A220 ordered by Air Canada and this one has never flown yet.
The Airbus A220, originally developed as the Bombardier CSeries, is a new, clean-sheet single-aisle aircraft optimised for the 110-150 seat range for short to medium haul flights. Defining features include a distinctive and very comfortable 2-3 cabin in economy, very large windows, 25% less fuel use, and 50% less noise.

(YMX)naturallyherb2020-05-25 | The absolute highlight of my life, here's my first sighting of the Antonov An-225 Mriya, the world's largest aircraft. This 6-engine airlifter is transporting medical equipment from Tianjin to Montreal as part of efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic. The aircraft made stops in Nagoya and Anchorage before its red-eye flight here.
This is its second mission to Montreal this month, after a visit early in May which was its first visit to Mirabel since 2012. The Antonov An-225 was based on the An-124, the second-largest aircraft, and was originally conceived to transport the Buran space shuttle on its back. Development lagged, and the Mriya made its first flight in December 1988, a month after Buran's sole spaceflight mission. After the Buran program and the Soviet Union ended in 1991, the aircraft was placed into storage and refurbished in 2001 for commercial service, carrying outsize cargo. Changes from the An-124 included two extra engines, longer fuselage and wingspan, dual vertical stabilisers, four extra pairs of landing gears, and the rear cargo door/ramp was eliminated to save weight.
This is the one and only An-225. There is a second incomplete An-225, and while there are benefits to complete it, no plan to do so came into fruition due to lack of funding.
This is the highlight of my life, as I previously missed its visit to Toronto in 2014 as mental health issues back then prevented me from leaving home. Since then, I have tried to seek opportunities to see this aircraft. During its unloading on this mission, one of the engine fuel pumps developed a problem and needed a replacement, thus requiring the aircraft to stay here overnight. I will not be able to film its departure.
Later on in the day I continued my task as part of the team for the Count Me In Leadership Summit, originally to take place in Camp Trillium, however we moved the summit online due to the pandemic. Absolutely amazing to hear world-famous keynote speakers like Jessie Funk, David Flood, and A'ric Jackson.

It was a trip done to attend the inaugural Alberta Pianofest music festival that took place at Rundle's Mission, an hour southwest of Edmonton.
At the time, I had no intention to start a YouTube channel at all, so the clips I took were short and fragmented. I inserted a few pictures of the cabin and inflight drink. For some very strange reason, I did not film the landing on both flights.
The Embraer 190 features a 2-2 cabin in economy and 1-2 in business, and is unusual among regional jets in that it can travel across the whole continent. The cabin design is basic and somewhat dated, but comfortable, more so than their existing A320. However, its smaller sibling, the Embraer 175, will continue operations at Sky Regional (Air Canada Express) for the near future. In 2016, Air Canada ordered 45 Bombardier CS300, later rebranded the Airbus A220-300, as replacements for the Embraer 190 and Airbus A319 and partially replace the older A320. One of the reasons to retire the Embraer 190 so early was its high trip cost and high CASM, and relatively high fuel usage for an aircraft of this size.

Welcome to my latest video! Here's the inaugural landing of Qatar Airways' Airbus A350-900 in Montreal! Qatar has been the launch customer for the A350 when it entered service back in 2015, and as such, features the latest cabin products, including QSuite, and an entirely new economy class. Despite being the launch customer, we've been waiting for over 5 years for Qatar's A350 to come to Montreal; the airline previously used the much disliked Boeing 777-300ER on this route which unfortunately features outdated business class, and 10 abreast economy class with ultra-narrow seats. Last year, Lufthansa was the first airline to send the A350 to Montreal from Munich which I have also filmed, but that route has been cancelled in light of the current situation.
With the travel bans in place because of COVID-19 including the ban on foreign citizens for many countries including Canada and Qatar, while not mentioned publicly, this is likely to be a repatriation flight as well, sending Canadian citizens back home on this flight, and sending Qatari citizens back home on the outbound flight, which departs at 9 pm tonight, which I will not film.

This was also my first time on the new World Traveller Plus product, and enjoyed very much the spectacular level of service.
This was filmed earlier this month, and in light of the coronavirus outbreak, many people, like me, were scrambling to find a way home considering the increasing travel restrictions as a result. This made the flight very full in economy with lots of families travelling together, and likely because of that, the gate agent upgraded me and few other individual travellers, free of charge at the last minute, as they needed our original economy seats. This made it one of my best flights ever as a result.
This specific aircraft, G-XWBD, was not the original one we were supposed to take. G-XWBE was our original assigned aircraft, however it suffered a technical problem which needed extended maintenance and therefore needed an aircraft change. Still, the flight was delayed by 5 hours. We were handed out food vouchers that is worth £10 and can be redeemed at any restaurant in the airport. I ordered a special vegan meal from my original ticket, and given my last minute upgrade, it meant that they were unable to make a new meal that is more consistent with World Traveller Plus, which features ceramic plates and metal cutlery. Still, it tasted excellent. Because the crew were nearing their maximum allotted time due to the delay, they were unable to serve the second meal. In place of that, there was a self-serve bar in the galley with snacks.
Cheers to British Airways for making this such an enjoyable flight! Enjoy the spectacular scenery! In the mean time, stay home and stay safe to protect others and prevent spreading the disease!

Here's a short hop across the pond from Toronto to London on British Airways! As you can see, this aircraft type has the best seat products across the whole BA fleet which made the flight very enjoyable!
Many people might ask why am I doing an international trip in spite of the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, and the answer is very simple: BA is temporarily moving the A350-1000 off the Toronto route at the end of March, possibly due to the reduced demand for capacity caused by the outbreak, with no end date in sight. That being said, the flight was about 2/3 full with quite a few people able to stretch across all 3 seats in a row. I was fortunate to have an empty seat beside me as well.
The A350-1000 is the first aircraft to feature all-new seat products across all classes, minus first class. This includes a much revamped Club World Suite, the new World Traveller Plus, and the all-new World Traveller class. Perhaps my favorite thing about the new seats is that they've done away with the large and bulky electronics/IFE box underneath each seat that existed in other aircraft like the 787 which obstructed quite the legroom. Here on the A350, I'm able to stretch my legs pretty much unobstructed under the seat. Another major point of improvement is the IFE screen which is much more responsive and has done away the remote. As with other BA flights however, the food is excellent, and the tomato sauce penne pasta option for dinner is quite possibly the best economy class meal I've had anywhere in the world. The only thing on the A350 that bugged me a little bit is that the tail camera doesn't seem to be accessible on the IFE screen. Other A350 airlines like Finnair have the tail camera readily accessible.
Besides being my first time on the A350-1000, this flight also has the distinction of being my first time on an A350 in Canada, and my first time on an Airbus aircraft on a transatlantic route.
Footnotes // update 2022: On 29:10, I made a brief mention about the National Jack Summit in the video text. For those who doesn't live in Canada, it is one of the largest mental health summits in Canada, run by jack.org. It was supposed to run the week after this visit to London, but was cancelled because of the pandemic. It finally ran again in March 2022, which I got to take part, fulfilling another item on my bucket list.
Due to reduced demand, British Airways currently runs the 787-8/9 to Toronto as of early 2022. As much as I love the newer product on the A350, I would really want to see the outdated product on other aircraft replaced.

With the tracking websites like Flightradar24 lacking any history for this particular aircraft, it is quite possible that this is its first flight!
Air Canada has 45 of these on order, with one delivered (C-GROV, which I went on), and one still in testing (C-GJXE). Under current plans, the whole order will be finished by 2022 while two new routes will be launched in May with this aircraft type: Montreal-Seattle, and Toronto-San Jose.
The weather was quite beautiful today without a cloud in sight, which is a stark contrast to Friday where Montreal got 40 cm of snow in a big snowstorm, which helped because I filmed this video standing on one of the tall snow banks which were made from snow removal.

(2019 Nova LFS Artic, #1971-1980)naturallyherb2020-02-08 | Welcome to my newest transit video! Here is a quick look at the newest buses at YRT/Viva, the 2019 Nova Bus LFS Artic numbered 1971-1980. A short ride from Richmond Hill Center Terminal to Finch Terminal is featured.
These buses are mostly identical with the previous batch, 1770-1774, and has a few new features, most notably a new display screen inside, new Luminator signs, larger logo at the front, relocated front fleet numbers, and the Cummins L9 engine. These buses were delivered at the end of December 2019 and entered service on 3 February 2020 and will replace some of the Van Hool AG300 buses as well as increasing service frequency on Viva Blue and Purple.
I don't have much to say about these new buses even though they are a really comfortable ride. This trip is part of an eventful day with transit spotting, which after this trip I went on the GO Transit 96E to Scarborough where the Presto reader was broken which meant a free ride! On the non-transit side of life, earlier this day and yesterday I gave my first Jack Talks, which are peer-to-peer mental health presentations organized by Jack.org that speaks to schools and community groups. It's such an amazing program, I encourage you to apply!
As for the videos filmed this past summer in New Zealand, I'll hopefully get these up soon as I upgrade to a better internet connection, of which the existing one has been extremely slow (8 hours to upload a 12 minute video like this one, vs 12 minutes on a faster fibre-optic connection).

This flight concludes my quick weekend travel to Montreal where I attended the Students in Mind Mental Health Conference on Saturday that's run by students at McGill, and that a close friend of mine works as a director for that event. I came to Montreal on Friday on Air Transat's A321neo, which is also a really cool aircraft!
The Airbus A220, originally developed by Bombardier as the CSeries, is a revolutionary new single-aisle aircraft type that incorporates many new technologies, like a composite airframe, geared turbofan engines, large windows, advanced avionics, and much more. The cabin design is distinctive as it features large windows, large overhead bins, and a 5-abreast economy cabin that features wider than average seats compared to other aircraft types. After a trade dispute between Bombardier and Boeing in 2017, Bombardier sought a partnership with Airbus which took a slight majority ownership in the program, and thus rebranded as the Airbus A220 in July 2018. Air Canada has 45 on order, the first of which was delivered in December and entered service just a few days ago on 16 January, between Montreal and Calgary. It will replace many older single-aisle aircraft, like the Embraer 190, and older Airbus A319 and A320.
This is a quick review of the main points of the flight and cabin features, and while it is not the inaugural service, it is the first time that this aircraft has operated commercially into Toronto. Two new routes will be launched with this aircraft in May, which includes Montreal to Seattle, and Toronto to San Jose (California). I have also filmed the full flight from beginning to end, and I'll hopefully post that soon as there's a lot to see during the flight!
As you can see, the weather was quite bad with a heavy snowstorm rolling through. Our flight ended up being delayed by two hours, and we were given food vouchers as compensation. There was also a group tour headed to Barbados, and because of the delay, that meant a very tight connection for them so the crew asked them to disembark the aircraft first before others.
Air Canada's frequent flights between Montreal and Toronto is sometimes branded as "Rapidair", and is the busiest flight route in the country.

This is one of the electric buses on order for the Toronto Transit Commission as a way of evaluating future bus technologies. This is a part of a large electric bus order, consisting of 25 New Flyer XE40 at Arrow Rd. division, 25 Proterra Catalysts at Mount Dennis, and 10 of the much-reviled BYD K9, presumably at Eglinton division.
The first electric bus, a New Flyer XE40, was delivered to the TTC early in 2019 and entered service on 3 June 2019, while the Proterra entered service on 26 October and the BYD hasn't entered service yet. Originally the order was supposed to be for 20 buses for each, but the BYD order was reduced to 10 owing to delays in delivery, while much controversy stemmed from the BYD was due to its questionable country of origin, as well as quality control problems including ADA violations, which was why Albuquerque Rapid Transit last year had to reject similar BYD buses with New Flyer XD60 as replacements. The New Flyer and Proterra orders were subsequently amended to 25 each so that TTC would still receive 60 electric buses by the end of 2019 or early 2020.
The Proterra buses have so far been seen in morning service only on the 6 Bay, and this video shows one of its few morning runs. The TTC is the first non-US operator of any Proterra product, and an enhanced variant, the E2 Max, is well known in the industry for having made a test run of 1,100 miles on a single charge in 2017.
Unlike every other TTC bus type where the doors open partially inward, the rear doors pop out and slide apart, like the new streetcar doors or minivan doors (my favorite feature). There is also no pushbar, instead there is a button to open the door. Furthermore, unlike the New Flyer XE40, the Proterra is designed entirely as an electric vehicle from the ground up, rather than being based on an existing diesel bus platform.

It's the Cathay Pacific Airbus A350-1000 that's operating a new three-times weekly service between Hong Kong and Toronto, with the flight number CX828/825 every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
This new service commenced last week on 27 October, and while I wasn't able to come that day to catch the inaugural, I was constantly looking forward to catch this aircraft in Toronto since the announcement about this service was made back in April. With this flight, Toronto is now a convenient 15 hour flight to Hong Kong, compared to 30-plus hours that I did on the three-part trip between Toronto and Hong Kong earlier this year with British Airways and Finnair through London and Helsinki. While I express no interest into politics, I hope the situation right now in Hong Kong improves in the near future such that I can revisit Hong Kong again as well as to film and review this flight onboard as this aircraft features excellent economy seats with adequate width and legroom, double padding, high-definition IFE, and much more.
