Viscosity in semen analysis - Dr. Sangeeta GomesViscosity in semen analysis - Dr. Sangeeta Gomes
Viscosity in semen analysis - Dr. Sangeeta Gomes
Doctors' Circle - World's Largest Health Platform 📤 2 years ago 2016-06-15
Semen analysis means analyzing the semen for the amount, quality and quantity. This is usually done after 3 – 4 days of abstinence. If it is collected at home within 30 minutes the sample should reach the lab and the readings are done close to 1- 2 hours. Following points are analysed within 2 hours of collection. The quality, the quantity, the pH, the count of the sperms, the motility, the morphology, the viscosity etc. Viscosity is resistance to flow. Ideally the semen should liquefy, allowing the sperms to move to the cervix for the fertilization of the egg. But certain conditions, the viscosity is more, if the person is drinking less water, dehydration, certain infections can also cause the viscosity to increase. Now how to reduce the viscosity? The person has to drink plenty of water, that is 10 – 15 glasses per day, reduce the intake of coffee, tea, alcohol, soda. Add Vitamin E, guaifenesin, n-acetyl cysteine and natural nutrients. But do not worry. Even if the viscosity doesn’t get corrected after this, following this methods, you can go for other techniques wherein you can do the sperm washing and take out the good ones to do a intrauterine insemination.

Switched at birth: 20 year old women receive $2 million compensation for clinical error
TomoNews US 📤 3 years ago 2015-02-24
Twenty years ago in a private maternity clinic on the French riviera, two newborn baby girls were carelessly switched just after birth by the auxiliary nurse.

The two newborns were both suffering from jaundice and were both placed into the same incubator, but when they were returned, they were handed over to the wrong mothers.

Sophie Serrano, a new mother and just 18 years old herself, questioned the nurse who brought her her baby. She noticed that her daughter’s hair seemed to have grown remarkably fast. The nurse told her not to worry about it.

So, Sophie tried to put her doubts to rest and took her new daughter home with her. However, as her daughter grew, it wasn’t just Sophie that started to notice there was something different about her daughter. Many of the locals noticed Sophie’s daughter had different hair and darker skin than either of her parents. The little girl also bore very little resemblance to her mother or her father.

Finally, Sophie’s husband demanded a paternity test. All three--father, mother, and daughter--had a DNA test and were astonished to discover the three of them shared no genetic link to each other.

Sophie notified the clinic and an investigation was launched.

Sophie has met her biological daughter and the family who raised her in her place. Sophie could only describe the meeting as ‘pretty disturbing’ and although the families tried to forge a link, in the end it was too difficult and now the only contact they have is through their lawyers.

After a criminal action against the maternity clinic was dropped, the two families pursued a civil case. In the end the judge awarded each family $1 million USD.

Sophie says she hopes the case will ease the guilt she’s felt and bring some vindication against the locals who constantly whispered that her eldest daughter was the postman’s child. She said nothing would separate her from her daughter.

Transcript:
Evolution is the fundamental idea in all of life science. So if we raise a generation of science students who don’t understand the main idea in biology they’re going to be incompletely educated students and this is going to be trouble for the United States because the United States keeps in the game economically by innovating – having new ideas, new products, new ways of doing things. That’s what the United States produces and brings to the world. And if we raise a significant fraction of our students who don’t understand science we’re not going to have the engineers and scientists to continue this tradition. So for me it’s troubling objectively or subjectively as one can be and as a citizen of the U.S.

I believe, I think here on Big Think that the problem is the same thing that allows us to recognize patterns to imagine shapes and things and routes and ways to get things done before we actually start doing those things that that ability also enables us to understand that despite our best efforts we’re all going to die. And I think that makes all of us a little nutty. We all find it a little troubling. And so because it seems incredible that all this stuff that we store in our brain, all the memories we have, all the mental images that we are able to keep, all the algebra that we learn, that all that goes away when we die is really hard for all of us to accept. And along with this is that we are not nature’s last word. We are not the final answer that nature came up with. That we are not what some entity created as his or her very best work. We’re just one more step on the evolutionary timeline. And for many people that’s so troubling they can’t accept it at all. For me, of course, it’s empowering and amazing and it makes me want to live every moment of every day in the best way possible. But for a lot of people it’s literally unimaginable.

Our journey begins when I was in New York. I’m living in New York nowadays but a year and a half ago I came here on an airplane and I had to be someplace for a television interview at – I had to get up around 5:00 a.m. Eastern time which was 2:00 a.m. Pacific time. And by the time I got to Big Think I was worn out. I was a little worn out. And you guys asked me a fabulous question about creationism. I’m not sure why you chose to ask that question and I spoke from the heart how troubling I find it for the United States science educational system, for our science students in the U.S. to be excluded or not be enlightened and not be enabled by the fundamental idea in all of biology which is descent by natural selection, evolution. So you guys posted that and people went a little crazy on the electric Internet, the computer machine that the kids use. And I just remind everybody when people take the time to write and they take the time to hate me that much, these are not people you’re not going to reason with. These are not people that you’re going to sit down and have a conversation with and a discussion and achieve a new conclusion. We each have pretty much made up our minds and so you can’t worry about that stuff too much.

My concern is not for the grownups who take the time to write these inflammatory things and react to your fabulous website and so on. My concern is for the people who are still in school, the people who are the future of the U.S., the future of the U.S. economy. And larger the future of the world’s economy. I mean the United States is so influential. It’s the third most populous nation in the world and it’s the nation that sent people to the moon. I mean it’s still a big influence. You can make very strong arguments for South Korea, Japan – huge economies doing amazing – Brazil doing amazing things. But still the United States is the leader in this stuff and so when we exclude a generation of science students we’re headed for trouble.

The Mystery of Planets Formation - Unlocking the Secrets of the Solar SystemThe Mystery of Planets Formation - Unlocking the Secrets of the Solar System
The Mystery of Planets Formation - Unlocking the Secrets of the Solar System
Space & The Universe HD 📤 1 day ago 2019-02-21
When we look at the Solar System, what clues show us how it formed? We can see pieces of its formation in asteroids, comets and other small bodies that cluster on the fringes of our neighborhood (and sometimes, fly closer to Earth.)

Are the orbits and sizes of the planets a natural byproduct of the formation, or are there features that happened because of rare events? Scientists are focused on answering these questions to better understand how the Earth formed, and what this means for Earth-like planets around other stars.

For example, a new set of simulations showed that Mars is a rare planet. It can happen, but only in certain situations — at least, if the parameters of the simulations are correct. Are these assumptions correct, or do other initial conditions need to be explored?

Finding the answers to these questions not only helps us understand where Mars comes from, but also our own planet. This is interesting to astrobiologists because the Red Planet has extensive evidence of past water.

Results from the Opportunity, Spirit and Curiosity rovers on the Martian surface came across features that form in the presence of water, such as mineralized iron oxide known as hematite, or”blueberries,” because of its shape.

This is part 1 in the series. Here's part 2: https://youtu.be/QBhJsShMF2g and part 3: https://youtu.be/-E1kpWZPEuA

Since we've already covered the basics of music theory, I think it's time to start learning how to write music. We'll be using those basic concepts of chords, keys, inversions, etc to start weaving chords together, add melodies, rhythm, and all the subtle things that bridge the gap between theory and actual music. This video is just to go over what you'll need to know before we start so you can make sure you're ready.

Check me out on Patreon if you want to help me make more of these: http://patreon.com/michaelnew

Discoveries of Exoplanets - It's Time to Meet the Neighbours
Space & The Universe HD 📤 1 week ago 2019-02-15
An exoplanet (extrasolar planet) is a planet located outside the Solar System. The first evidence of an exoplanet was noted as early as 1917, but was not recognized as such. However, the first scientific detection of an exoplanet began in 1988. Shortly afterwards, the first confirmed detection came in 1992, with the discovery of several terrestrial-mass planets orbiting the pulsar PSR B1257+12. The first confirmation of an exoplanet orbiting a main-sequence star was made in 1995, when a giant planet was found in a four-day orbit around the nearby star 51 Pegasi. Some exoplanets have been imaged directly by telescopes, but the vast majority have been detected through indirect methods, such as the transit method and the radial-velocity method. As of 1 February 2019, there are 3,976 confirmed planets in 2,971 systems, with 653 systems having more than one planet. This is a list of the most notable discoveries.

Over 800 people gathered at the Radisson Hotel in Branson from July 13th-15th, 2012 and you could feel the electricity in the air. 26 speakers, the leading voices in the prophetic world today, brought clarity, wisdom and hope to an audience hungry for God's Word. These days, with the world on the precipice of an any-moment showdown/meltdown, we were all quoting the words of the Psalmist, "How long oh Lord, how long?" Tom Horn, who was asked to speak on "2012: Is It The End?" delivered what nobody expected - an answer to this question 'how long' but more importantly how he and others like him can face this future with CONFIDENCE, despite how many occult AND CHRISTIAN voices from ancient times pointed to the year 2012 as an "event horizon, after which "the beginning of the end" would begin.

Convicted Tax Cheat Attended '47 Percent' Romney Fundraiser
The Young Turks 📤 6 years ago 2012-10-27
"When Mitt Romney assailed Americans who he claimed don't pay federal income taxes during his infamous 47 percent rant in May, one of the guests in the room for this intimate Boca Raton fundraiser was a convicted tax cheat who had gone to jail for failing to pay a quarter of a million dollars owed to Uncle Sam.

James Batmasian, an influential Florida developer and philanthropist, was among the well-heeled crowd at this $50,000-a-plate dinner, which was held at the home of private equity mogul Marc Leder. According to his wife, Marta Batmasian, a member of Romney's Florida finance committee, her husband had attended as her guest after she was "invited for being a donor at the required level." Weeks before the event, she had contributed $50,000 to the Romney presidential effort."* Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz (Host, Turner Classic Movies), and John Iadarola (Host, TYT University) discuss the irony of a convicted tax cheat not only attending a fundraiser that demonized 47% of the country as people who don't pay taxes, but using some of his money to donate to the GOP.

Follow me on Twitter! https://twitter.com/SirElliot24

Finally, I present to you the video I've been working on for the past few months. Yes, some was procrastination, some was Vegas being a prick. But here it is, safely in the dispensary of the Youtube community. Have fun, and enjoy.

In this fabulous adventure, a once madness-ridden landscape of every common Team Fortress 2 server turns into a young little gamer's nightmare. Upon accidentally opening a portal to another dimension and video game engines, it's up to the one and only unique Engineer to fix what he has started. A dastardly little demon rounds up all of his friends and turn against him, so that the Moon will not delay in destroying mankind as we know it. Will the Engineer vanquish all evil and return the land to back the way it came, or will he fail unwillingly from the overpowering menaces that plague the atmosphere? It's up to YOU..................to find out.

HI, EXTRA NOTES:
- I started this in November, just finished today. Ain't that neat.
- Honestly I must say that Garry's Mod videos are becoming increasingly boring to make, so you may not see a lot more in the future. Maybe short little ones. Definitely I think this is my last 10+ minute Gmod video.
- First film to feature my little brother! Give him props, brah.
- All those amateur animations? Done by me. And those little sketches at the end, that you can barely see since Vegas won't let me do crisp HD renders anymore.

All in all, I like to thank all my fans who stuck around and waited for me on this film. Thanks ya'll, I'll be back soon enough.

P.S. A word to the tards: I'm not dead yet, so keep your pants on.
P. S. S. Rubberfruit was originally in the "beta" version of the intro, which involved him and I in a 3 second steam chat, but it was cut out due to a better idea as you could see.

In this week's episode, we dive into some of the incredible DESIGN in DNA and contrast it with the claim of one scientist who claims it was a "stupid design." A new DNA bundling protein is found, scientists use DNA for digital storage to mail each other an MP3, and we talk about ERV's with Dr. Jean Lightner.
