Well, I figured I might as well do a C64 one as well :)

I'm not 100% satisfied with this one though.. it's not as good as the Amiga one. The reason is that I made this one just after finishing the Amiga one and I was a little burnt out I guess.. got very sick of making this one almost right away.
It's stilld decent though so I hope some people can enjoy it at least :)

The soundtrack consists of these three songs, all by Instant Remedy -

Welcome to Toronto, the largest city in Canada and a hub of trade and culture.

“The City That Works” is full of a can-do spirit that is reflected in its buildings. From the famous CN Tower to the castle-like Casa Loma, there’s all sorts of eye candy for the architecture enthusiast. Your Toronto tour should include a trip to Edward Gardens in Hyde Park, or one of the many other green spaces located in the city. Take a bike ride along the trails, or enjoy a picnic while the local chipmunks look on. Don’t drop anything; they’ll grab it.

Your Toronto sightseeing can continue at the Harborfront Center. Go for a walk along the marina, or grab a pint at a brewhouse. And no trip to Toronto is complete without a visit to the Hockey Hall of Fame, so make sure you’ve got your team paraphernalia in order before you venture inside. Looking for shopping? You’ll find the Underground City and Kensington Market ready to welcome you and your credit card – or several credit cards, as the case may be. After a day of madcap purchasing, why not stock up on fresh, healthy food at the St. Lawrence Market? You’ll have worked up quite an appetite for delicious local produce.

Before you leave, head to Niagara Falls and take in the spectacle of nature’s power. You’ll never forget the sight and sound of all that water pouring over the falls, nor will you ever forget your trip to Toronto.

Visit our Toronto travel guide page for more information or to plan your next vacation!

The Wood Whisperer 📤 9 years ago 2009-02-08
Original post on our site with additional comments: http://thewoodwhisperer.com/videos/80-nicoles-picture-frame/

About 4 days before Christmas, I started making a nice little picture frame for a custom piece of art I had made up for Nicole from our friend Scott Johnson (http://myextralife.com) A gift for a special girl requires some special wood. So I pulled out my best sheets of curly maple veneer and a couple of sheets of home-sawn afzelia wood (thanks for link Logan!) that I received from David Marks. You may find it odd that I decided to use solid maple as the substrate for the frame. I thought this would be a fun experiment, and when the rabbets are cut in the back, there won't be any unsightly ply to look at (not that it matters that much). Small projects like this are just a great place to experiment with techniques and materials you might not normally use. All the extra effort pays off in the end when the finish hits the wood. KABLAM!!!! The wood just comes to life!

City tour through Ottawa - a town with modern and classical architecture Ottawa, Canada, owes a good part of its charm not only his residents but as well the stunning reflections of the Victorian buildings in the glass facades of the modern skyscrapers. Everywhere, one has tried to merge historical with modern architecture.
Our tour leads to the other side of the Ottawa river to the Museum of Civilization. From here one can recognize very well where the Parliaments Hill got its name from.
The beginning of the Rideau Canal is very good recognizably with the 8 sluice steps which overcome 24 m at this point. The hotel Château Laurier dominates the elevation next to it.
The Museum of Civilization, designed by Douglas Cardinal, is considered as a masterpiece of architecture. It was built solely with domestic materials and has only curves and no edges.
On a hill at the other side of the Ottawa river is the National Gallery, Canada's largest collection of European art.
Besides you see the Notre-Dame Basilica, the seat of the Archbishop.
Past the U.S. Embassy we reach the Majors Hill Park, a popular meeting place and a lively place but at the same time a place to relax. A stay on the balustrades grants a privileged view of what is happening in the locks of the Rideau Canal. You can see that up to now, they are still operated by hand.
Usually, the Rideau Canal freezes during the winter months; then it is perhaps the longest skating rink in the world. Next to it you find the Government Conference Centre and the Rideau Centre that invites you for a shopping tour.
The Château Laurier Hotel, built in 1912 in the style of a French castle, was a prestige object of the Canadian National. Later it was sold to the Canadian Pacific.
During our visit, the Happy Pride parade passes in front of the parliament. The spectacle of a somewhat different kind is the counterpart to the Christopher Street Parade.
A stone's throw from the Parliament is the Currency Museum, showing everything about historic coins and banknotes. The 12-storey building is a true cathedral of money.
During an evening stroll through the Sparks Street Mall, you can be sure not to return home without a street concert.

New York City - Video tour of Flatiron District, Manhattan (Part 1)New York City - Video tour of Flatiron District, Manhattan (Part 1)
📺 New York City - Video tour of Flatiron District, Manhattan (Part 1)
New York Habitat 📤 6 years ago 2012-02-15
Welcome to the first video tour of our two part series dedicated to the Flatiron District, located in Manhattan, New York, by New York Habitat (http://nyhabitat.com).

Subscribe to New York Habitat YouTube channel: http://youtube.com/user/NewYorkHabitat?feature=mhee#g/c/5704CB831C46A022 and watch more great videos about other neighborhoods of Manhattan such as the Meatpacking Disctrict (http://youtube.com/watch?v=SCLLwME15FU) or the Lower East Side (http://youtube.com/watch?v=QHA_hz0tqBU).

Head to 175 Fifth Ave where you'll find a beautiful and curious structure known as the Flatiron building, which gives the neighborhood its name. This skyscraper was one of the tallest buildings in the city when it was completed in 1902. New Yorkers began referring to it as the "Flatiron" due to the triangular block it sits on, looking very much like an old fashioned flat iron.

The Flatiron District is roughly bounded by 20th Street to the south, Sixth Avenue to the west, 26th Street to the north, and Lexington Avenue to the east.

The Flatiron District developed around a stretch of high end retailers along Fifth Avenue that drew in the most fashionable women of the late 1890s. Earlier it was known as "Ladies Mile" and later on "The Toy District" because of the Toy Center Building located at 23rd Street and Broadway.

Today the 'Ladies Mile' may not have the glamour and glitz that it had in the past, but it has regained its retail shopping identity and is now a New York City Historic District.

Named for President James Madison, Madison Square was opened to the public in 1847 and was the focal point of one of Manhattan's most elite neighborhoods. It was home to the first two Madison Square Garden Buildings, the arena that the New York Knicks and Rangers play in.

If you'd like to experience the Flatiron District like a true local, you should definitely rent a vacation rental (http://nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/vacation ) or furnished apartment (http://nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/furnished ) with New York Habitat. There's no better way to experience this city than to live in a real New York apartment.

Consider this fully furnished room for rent in the Flatiron District (http://nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/roommate-share/12595 ) is less than 2blocks away from Madison Square Park. The bedroom is furnished with 2 single beds, a closet, a dresser and a desk. The living room is shared with the owner and has a sofa, dining table and TV with basic cable. The kitchen is fully equipped to make meals in the apartment. Also, there is a dog in this apartment, so renters must love dogs!

This fully furnished 1-bedroom apartment in Midtown, New York (http://nyhabitat.com/new-york-apartment/vacation/12330 ) has a king size bed in its bedroom, the living room is furnished with a sofa and dining table and there is air conditioning throughout the apartment. The kitchen is fully equipped and this apartment also has the luxury of a washing machine and a dryer! There is a cat that lives in this apartment, so owner does ask that cat is fed and please make sure no one in your group has allergies.

The heart of the Flatiron District is undoubtedly Madison Square Park. It's a great place to spend a day outdoors.

Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, was born at 28 East 20th Street on October 27, 1858. His childhood home is open for tours during the week. Check out the official website of the Theadore Roosevelt birthplace for more details. (http://nps.gov/thrb/)

Well, that's a wrap of our first episode of our video tour of the Flatiron District. Feel free to leave us a comment below and share some of your favorite spots in the neighborhood.

Also, be sure to check out our blog, if you want more information about the Flatiron District in New York (http://nyhabitat.com/blog/2012/02/16/new-york-city-video-tour-flatiron-district-part-1/)

Thanks for watching our New York video tour and we hope to see you soon enjoying the scenery in Madison Square Park!

New York City - U.S. CitiesNew York City - U.S. Cities
📺 New York City - U.S. Cities
THEWORLDOFTRAVEL 📤 6 years ago 2012-03-03
New York is the most populous city in the United States and the center of the New York Metropolitan Area, one of the most populous metropolitan areas in the world. New York exerts a significant impact upon global commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural capital of the world. The city is also referred to as New York City or the City of New York[16] to distinguish it from the state of New York, of which it is a part.
Located on one of the world's largest natural harbors, New York City consists of five boroughs, each of which comprises a state county. The five boroughs — The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island — were consolidated into a single city in 1898. With a 2010 United States Census population of 8,175,133 distributed over a land area of just 305 square miles (790 km2), New York is the most densely populated major city in the United States. As many as 800 languages are spoken in New York, making it the most linguistically diverse city in the world. The New York City Metropolitan Area's population is the United States' largest, estimated at 18.9 million people distributed over 6,720 square miles (17,400 km2), and is also part of the most populous combined statistical area in the United States, containing 22.2 million people as of 2009 Census estimates.
New York traces its roots to its 1624 founding as a trading post by colonists of the Dutch Republic, and was named New Amsterdam in 1626. The city and its surrounds came under English control in 1664 and were renamed New York after King Charles II of England granted the lands to his brother, the Duke of York. New York served as the capital of the United States from 1785 until 1790. It has been the country's largest city since 1790. The Statue of Liberty greeted millions of immigrants as they came to America by ship in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is a globally recognized symbol of the United States and its democracy.
Many districts and landmarks in New York City have become well known to its approximately 50 million annual visitors. Times Square, iconified as "The Crossroads of the World", is the brightly illuminated hub of the Broadway theater district, one of the world's busiest pedestrian intersections, and a major center of the world's entertainment industry. The city hosts many world renowned bridges, skyscrapers, and parks. New York City's financial district, anchored by Wall Street in Lower Manhattan, functions as the financial capital of the world and is home to the New York Stock Exchange, the world's largest stock exchange by total market capitalization of its listed companies. Manhattan's real estate market is among the most expensive in the world. Manhattan's Chinatown incorporates the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere. Providing continuous 24/7 service, the New York City Subway is one of the most extensive rapid transit systems in the world. Numerous colleges and universities are located in New York, including Columbia University, New York University, and Rockefeller University, which are ranked among the top 50 in the world.
