Just when it seemed that this year's grasscourt major had exhausted its quota of shocks with grand slam champions Rafa Nadal, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka all blotted out of the draw by the second round, along came Sabine Lisicki.
The German, playing a brand of fearless tennis that many dream of but only the brave produce, jettisoned the American holder 6-2 1-6 6-4 to leave Wimbledon gasping in disbelief once again.
Lisicki also struggled to catch her breath.
"I'm still shaking, I'm so happy," gulped a tearful Lisicki, who fell flat on her stomach in her moment of triumph. "It's amazing; I love this court so much. It's unbelievable!"
It certainly was unbelievable because even before the first-week exodus of big names, Williams had been the overwhelming favourite to win a sixth title having triumphed at three of the last four majors.
She walked on court armed with the knowledge that she was on a 34-match winning streak and had suffered only two losses all year.
That record failed to salvage her Wimbledon dreams and her exit left world number four Agnieszka Radwanska as the highest seed and Czech Petra Kvitova as the only former champion still alive in the women's draw.
Eighth seed Kvitova dispatched Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro 7-6(5)6-3 to set up a last-eight meeting Belgian Kirsten Flipkens.
William's downfall also meant that Sloane Stephens was the only American, man or woman, to reach the quarter-finals.
The 20-year-old lived up to her billing as the next generation of American tennis by beating Puerto Rican teenager Monica Puig 4-6 7-5 6-1.
At the other end of the age spectrum, Li Na proved that 31-year-olds can still do damage on grass as she narrowly missed out on dishing out the dreaded double bagel during a 6-2 6-0 thrashing of Italian 11th seed Roberta Vinci.
Day seven at Wimbledon is unique as it is the only one of the four grand slams to schedule 16 fourth-round showdowns -- both in men and women's singles -- on the same day.
But after a week of seismic shocks decimated the draw and left it shorn of house-hold names, it was a case of guess who for the fans who wandered around the outside courts.
Lukasz Kubot v Adrian Mannarino on Court 14?
"Oh it's a couple of nobodies!," quipped one spectator as he craned his neck to see the names on the on court scoreboard.
Had the fan stuck around to see the match to its conclusion, he would have caught sight of Kubot doing his bizarre can-can victory jig along the service line following his absorbing 4-6 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-4 win over Frenchman Mannarino.
Kubot and Mannarino were among four players outside the top 100 who had made it to the second Monday at Wimbledon.Dancing azonto in churchcelebritytalkonline2013-07-02 | It has been observed that choristers in many Pentecostal churches in Nigeria are infusing taste of Hip-Hop and Fuji tunes into their praise and worship lyrics. Some churches even have choreography team who specialises in hip-hop steps. Is it right, proper or not really a sin?
Comments:
Havialh93: Is there a specific type of music that is supposed to be strictly for praise and worship only? Tell South Africans to stop singing Kwaito or whatever in churches, tell south Americans to stop singing Samba songs as praise worship.
It all has to do with the heart. You might not sing hip hop or Fuji, but yet, your heart is unclean, but someone singing hip hop, and does it with the whole of his heart, with open minds, gets his blessings and leaves.
Rotlan: Personally, I see nothing wrong as long as the lyrics are glorifying God. At least the Yoruba use "Ewi" which was being used in worshiping their kings and traditional deities to worship in church today and no one has raised an objection. But what I really have issues with is the makosa, azonto etc being used. But all the same, it's just my own personal opinion.
James Richard: Whether members of a particular church sing and dance alanta, Fuji, hip pop, kunkere, awilo, akpala and the rest, as long as God almighty is being worshiped, praised, adored and glorified, my guy, it is good to go. My bretheren, let's join them in no time to dance before stones go take your place.Shocker!! Man Sentenced To 245 Years In Prison After Molesting 13 Small Girlscelebritytalkonline2013-07-02 | A man got a huge and near record breaking prison sentence for attacking 13 girls in the basement of his home, according to court proceedings.
A Kansas City man was sentenced to 245 years in prison for drugging and sèxually abusing 13 children, with some of the sèxual abuse recorded on video over a period of four years.
During sentencing Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Dean Whipple told 63-year-old James Phillip "Phil" Edwards that "his conduct is incomprehensible." He was sentenced to federal prison without parole.
"We are pleased that an extremely dangerous sèxual predator is guaranteed to spend the rest of his life in prison," David M. Ketchmark, acting U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Western Division, said.
"The virtual life sentence is the only fair solution for the confessed pedophile who drugged innocent children to sèxually abuse them, and then recorded videos of his abuse. This serial abuser will not cause harm to another child for the rest of his life."
Edwards pleaded no contest to 21 charges related to the production and distribution of child pornography. He was convicted of 12 counts of producing videos of sèxual abuse of 12 separate children, attempted production with respect to a 13th child and possession of a large collection of child pornography downloaded from the Internet.
The court also found Edwards guilty of five counts of administering a drug to some of the victims to facilitate crimes. Edwards created several videos of his abuse on 13 victims, whose ages at the time of their molestations ranged from 6 years to 13 years. Evidence indicates a girl may have been the victim when she was just 4 years old.
Prosecutors said all sèxual abuse occurred at his home south of Kansas City, and all but one of the videos were recorded in his basement.Family Of Thieves Father, Son and daughter arrested After Stealing From Bankcelebritytalkonline2013-07-02 | A father used his two kids to help him rob banks.
The father has raised his two kids by himself after their mother passed away.
The father, his son and his daughter were arrested after they were caught robbing a bank. Now police believe that they are responsible for a string of seven bank robberies across two state.
Ronald Scott Catt, 50, his 20-year-old son Hayden and his daughter, 18-year-old Abby, were arrested last week and charged with robbing a credit union in Texas.
The Crime stoppers organization has posted signs with the picture of the wanted robbers, and they promised a reward of $25,000 for a tip leading to the arrest of the bank robber.
The tip led police to a local Home Depot where a security camera showed the family buying the disguise used in the robbery.
The family recently moved to the area from Oregon. Deputies are looking into the family's involvement in other robberies.
During the robbery in Texas, two men who appear to be Catt and Hayden, entered the bank wearing costumes armed with guns before leaving with cash by jumping into a getaway car driven by Abby.
The father and son were held in County Jail on $140,000 bond. Abby's bond was set at $100,000.Read The Story Of The Nigerian Senator That Just Passed Awaycelebritytalkonline2013-07-02 | Senator Akpor Pius Ewherido was born into the family of Pa Joseph and Paulina Ewherido on May 4, 1963 in Ughelli, Delta State.
The third child in a family of eight, all males, Ewherido had his elementary education at St. Paul's Catholic Primary School, Ughelli and Ekwerigbe Primary School, Ozoro, form where he proceeded to the Notre Dame College, Ozoro and Urhobo College, Effurun, all in Delta State.
After his secondary education, he proceeded to the then University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, where he studied Philosophy and emerged the best graduating student of his class.
The senator representing Delta Central on the platform of the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, had his compulsory national youth service in the then Ogun State University, now Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, before venturing to a full time business in Warri.
At the same time, he enrolled into the University of Benin for Law and was called to the Nigerian Bar after the completion of his law programme and the mandatory Law School programme. Ewherido began his foray into politics when he joined the United Nigerian Congress Party, UNCP, in the botched Third Republic. But he made a return to his business after the Third Republic was aborted by the late Gen. Sani Abacha.
He returned to politics when he joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 1998, the platform on which he contested for the Ughelli South state constituency seat in April 1999 into the Delta State House of Assembly.
He was elected the Deputy Speaker when the House convened in 1999 and from May 15, 2000 till March 2001, Ewherido was the leader of the Delta House of Assembly. He made a return to the House in 2003 and was re-elected the Deputy Speaker, a position he held until the end of the lifespan of the Assembly in 2007.
In 2006, he contested for the governorship of Delta State, but could not progress beyond the primaries and as the 2011 elections approached, he left the PDP for the DPP to contest the Delta Central Senatorial seat. He was elected the DPP candidate by a very narrow margin, beating his closest rival with 125 votes to 108 and went on to defeat the PDP candidate in the 2011 senatorial election, Amori Ighoyota, by 102,313 to 85,365 votes.
Courageous with leadership qualities and self assurance, the story was told of how he wanted to confront the soldiers who overran and sacked Ughelli in the then Midwest Region as a four-year old, when he allegedly told his elder brother: "Let's go home, after all, they (soldiers) are men like us."
During his stint in the Delta State House of Assembly as both acting Speaker and Deputy Speaker, he left indelible mark on the sands of time. He also did not forget the people whose mandate he held in trust, serving them faithfully and diligently, attracting sizable projects spread all over the nooks and crannies of the constituency.
Acknowledging his contribution to the state constituency, he was honoured by his Urhobo people, as his paternal homestead conferred on him the chieftaincy title of Otemunoruemu of Ewu Kingdom, while his maternal hometown honoured him with the title of Adjerese of Effurun-Otor Kingdom.
He was the Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on Maritime Transport and also a member of the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment. Senator Ewherido was an ardent lawn tennis player and a soccer enthusiast, married to Doye Ewherido (nee Bozimo) and the union was blessed with four children, Oghenefejiro, Oghenero, Eguono and Eloho.
An ardent supporter of the emerging merger party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ewherido would probably have flown the flag of the new party in 2015, if he were alive and the party scaled through the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, hurdle.
He died on June 30, 2013 at the National Hospital, Abuja, he was rushed to after he was said to have collapsed in his home.Wowww!!! Grandma Graduates From Primary School At 100celebritytalkonline2013-07-02 | A Mexican grandmother has graduated from primary school at the age of 100.

"I liked school very much, but I could not continue studying," she told Uno TV.
"By the next year I could already wash and iron."
Ms Hernandez says she will now continue her studies in secondary school.
More than half of Oaxaca state residents older than 15 have not completed their primary education.General Overseer Of Nigerian Gay Church, Ordained Deacon, Say Ordination A Source Of Hope For S*Xualcelebritytalkonline2013-07-02 | Five years after he was forced to leave Nigeria for the United Kingdom following threats to his life, Nigeria's first openly gay preacher and the founder of House of Rainbow Fellowship, a Christian community for s*xual minorities and marginalised people, Reverend Jide Macaulay, has been ordained a Deacon of the Anglican Church on Sunday in Chelmsford, United Kingdom.
The Bishop of Chelmsford, the Right Reverend Stephen Cotterel, will hold the ordination service at the Chelmsford Cathedral.
Reverend Macaulay will serve as the Curate in the East Ham Parish, London. He is believed to have inspired many ethnic minority people in the Newham area of London when in 2000 he played Jesus in 2000 Newham Millennium Passion Play.
In an exclusive interview with PREMIUM TIMES, Reverend Macaulay says his ordination is a source of hope for s*xual minorities. He also spoke about his experience in Nigeria, the future of House of Rainbow fellowship and the recently passed anti-gay bill by the National Assembly.
PT: Congratulations on your ordination into the Anglican Communion. What does this mean for our readers, especially s*xual minorities in Africa?
Rev: Thanks for the well wishes. My ordination into the Anglican Communion is an important continuation of my call to parish ministry, to reach out to all people regardless of who they are. I believe whilst my ordination is not anything new to the church, for me it is both relevant on the state of persecution and righteous living for s*xual minorities. My message to all people especially Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgender people of faith and none is to hold on to their dreams and hopes in the face of hardship, God is a good God and loves all people.
PT: Tell us about the role you played in the Newham Millennium Passion Play "A light in the Darkness" and how it has helped to change your life?
Rev: I played the character of "Jesus" in the passion play, which was staged outdoor throughout the London Borough of Newham in 2000, this alone did not change my life but nonetheless was a single contribution to enhancing my relationship with the Anglican Church and more so with my Christian faith.
The audition and rehearsal started late 1999 to early 2000. Reverend Father Steven Saxby, a Curate at St Bartholomew at the time, immediately became my mentor and friend, who also played a crucial part as my spiritual leader and advisor.
Playing Jesus gave me the opportunity to experience the hardship he went through and to understand the love that he has for the world. Jesus even at his death said "Father forgive them". Often I feel that playing Jesus in such a public way allowed me to connect with my own pains and those inflicted on me and at the same time be able to acknowledge the spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation.
Now that you are fully ordained Deacon in the Anglican Church, what happens to the House Of Rainbow Fellowship?
My ordination with the Anglican Communion does not extinguish the passion for inclusive theology and ministry for the marginalized. As an Anglican minister, my duties are carried forward to continue to reach out to people on the margins and that also means an understanding of the aims and objectives of House Of Rainbow and how the universal church may benefit from the extra ordinary work in hostile regions with marginalised people.
I am encouraged by those who supported my ministry and efforts towards ordination and have urged me to remain true to the call of God and particularly with a passion to ensure that there is room at the communion table for s*xual minorities. House Of Rainbow continues to develop independently as a support group with 10 active groups in six countries, managed by 15 Volunteer Local Leaders.
What happened to House Of Rainbow in 2008 and what were the core reasons for leaving Nigeria?
2008 was a very busy year for House Of Rainbow and the ministry was at the height of its popularity as we have become a household name in Nigeria, particularly well known for its inclusive welcome of marginalised communities. We stood for change, peace and reconciliation, however, violence was thrust upon us as a community and many people, organisations and the media were simply looking for "dirt" about us. In February, I was ambushed by the media in Abuja at the Africa se*uality Conference.
In March/April the newspapers were filled with sensational headlines, by July we have had many more "undercover reporters" joined us and started to record and take photographs. By August/September, we received unprecedented hostile media coverage, increased violence and numerous death threats.
Those who attacked us used this for their own gains. After the second year anniversary celebration of House Of Rainbow in Lagos, I went to Abuja for several meetings and when I returned to Lagos, the environment became extremely hostile and the Board of House Of Rainbow decided it was time we re-strategise.Man Beats Up Ex Wife For Being In Love With His Best Friendcelebritytalkonline2013-07-02 | FAILURE to stomach seeing his estranged wife in the arms of his best friend made a Chipinge man go berserk and assaulted her.Solomon Mlambo (28) of Naffaton Farm was dragged to court facing domestic violence charges.
He, however, told the court that he was still customarily married to Nancy Mlambo, but were on separation.
Solomon, who was denying the charges, was convicted by Mr Vusimuzi Gapara and was sentenced to three months imprisonment wholly suspended on condition that he was not involved in a similar offence in the next five years.
The State led by Mr Brian Madzura said on May 25 the estranged lovers had a quarrel which degenerated into a fight.
He said Solomon approached Nancy at a nearby bush where she was gathering firewood with other women from the same farm.
Solomon questioned her about the rumours that were doing rounds at the farm that she was in love with his friend.
The court heard that Nancy confirmed the affair and bragged to him that he had found a better man.
This infuriated Solomon who grabbed a metre-long stick and assaulted Nancy all over her body. She managed to escape and run home.
"In the evening, Solomon went to Nancy's house where he further assaulted her accusing her of double-crossing him." said Mr Madzura.
The following morning, she reported the assault to the police resulting in Solomon's arrest.
In passing sentence, Mr Gapara said although he had been convicted of a serious offence, he deserved the court's leniency as the offence was committed after provocation.
"The court has considered that you were provoked into committing the offence.
"You paid lobola for your wife, sired children with her and she deserted you for another man, telling you to leave her alone and naturally that would incense any human being," said Mr Gapara.
Meanwhile, a maintenance defaulter was lucky to escape a jail term after he was convicted of violating Section 23 (1) of the Maintenance Act after he failed to pay $20 the court had ordered him to pay.
The court heard that on October 1, 2012, Benson Mabuto was ordered to pay $20 towards the upkeep of one minor child. However by April 30, Mabuto had not paid a cent and his outstanding amount was $140.
Mabuto pleaded guilty to the charges and said he was unable to pay since his banana plantation, which was his source of income had wilted. He, however, pleaded with court for time to pay.
Mr Gapara sentenced him to six months, three of which were suspended on condition that he settled the arrears on or before July 31.Drugs Wrapped In Condóms Removed From Woman's Pélviscelebritytalkonline2013-07-02 | A woman arrested on suspicion of smuggling drugs from Mexico into the United States had to have a one-pound package of methamphetamine surgically removed from her pélvis last week.
Claudia Ibarra, 31, was taken into custody after U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents patted her down and "realized there was something down there," spokeswoman Teresa Small told The Associated Press on Friday.
A doctor removed from Ibarra a black package of drugs double-wrapped in condóms.
Ibarra, a U.S. citizen and resident of Yuma, Ariz., had attempted to cross the border at San Luis alone and on foot, according to authorities.
Per a tabulation of U.S. Border Patrol and U.S. Customs and Border Protection data by the Center for Investigative Reporting, more than 36,000 pounds of methamphetamine were seized by agents along the U.S.-Mexico border between 2005 and 2011.
Although that number pales in comparison to the amounts of marijuana and cócaine seized in the area during the same time period, the amount of meth reported appears to be increasing year over year.
A separate report by the AP notes that the spike in meth seizures "reflects a shift in production to Mexico after a U.S. crackdown on domestic labs."
According to the AP, drug mules - including children - have been discovered with caches of meth hidden in many unlikely places.10 Wrong Reasons Why People Marrycelebritytalkonline2013-07-02 | 1. Good food. -- Sorry, you don't need a wife to eat good food. House-help or fast food can help.
2. s*x -- This is part of reason for marriage but should not be the only reason.
3. Solution partner -- It is true that you need someone you can pour your heart to at all time. But you need to know that the other person also needs your care. If all you want is only yourself to be heard without considering the other person, then what you need is a counsellor, not a husband or wife.
4. Beauty -- Never marry because someone is beautiful or handsome! Beauty fades. Simplicity is the key, however you must be attracted to the person.
5. Money -- You may have financial need but marrying someone just because he/she is rich won't sustain the marriage
6. Pressure - "I am getting old", "My friends are all married", "My family are complaining" -- These and many more are the excuses some people marry!. But remember that you are the one that will live with that spouse and not your parents or friends.
7. Spirituality -- "He speaks in tongues", "He attend church regularly!", we know them by their fruits and not by their being religious.
8. Conversion -- I will change him/her after marriage. 99% chances are that he/she will not change after marriage if they didn't change before marriage.
9. Fantasy -- Some just get married because others are married and they don't want to be left out.
10. Low Self Esteem -- Some people feel they would not get someone to marry them, else they quickly rush in with anyone that comes their way, not knowing them to an extent.Owolere Odunuga,Celestial Church Prophet jailed in Kirikiri over Visa Fraudcelebritytalkonline2013-07-02 | Prophet Owolere Odunuga of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Ibeshe District, Ikorodu, who was arrested for alleged visa fraud, has been remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

In this chat with The Entertainer, she opened up on a couple of interesting issues. Among the issues are her breast implant tale, her romance with a socialite and why she feels it's not compulsory to get married.
Tell us about the story that was all over town that you did breast implant... I wouldn't know where and why the story was all over. Maybe we need to ask those who started it.
Could be it that you dressed in a way that made your "oranges" look bigger or something? I would not know, but I guess I dress appropriately. I am not expected to wear Iro and Buba to a night club, so I don't know where the story came from. I don't know why people enjoy putting others down and I think we should cultivate the habit of celebrating ourselves. We should celebrate good things in other people and stop digging what is not meant to be dug.
I try to live my normal life. I try to remain myself . I try not to let my freedom be taken away from me. If I feel like eating Amala at a buketaria, I walk in and I eat. One million people could stare at me and that is because they want to stare; what I want to do is eat. If I feel like buying corn on the roadside, I park and I buy. I try as much as possible not to let fame get into my head and I try to live a normal life.
Are you not thinking of marriage at your age? Like I have always said and believed, marriage is not a must for me. Everybody wants to get married but everybody is not meant to be married. There are people who are not meant to be married but they forced themselves into marriage , because a brother or sister is married. You discover that you opt out in a few months and divorced. Why did you get married in the first place knowing you are not meant to be married? Firstly, I think you should understand your nature. That said, I wouldn't say expect the marriage by next week or next year and it also does not mean I can not call you in the evening that I am not married. What's most important is finding a great person. Kelly became well known for his one-liners and fight scenes as Williams in the 1973 classic.
Marilyn Dishman, Kelly's ex-wife said he died on Saturday at his home in California, reports Sky News.
His other films included Three The Hard Way, Black Belt Jones and Black Samurai.
But it was Enter The Dragon that was his most iconic film.
Directed by Robert Clouse, it starred Bruce Lee, Kelly and John Saxon. This was Bruce Lee's final film appearance before his death on July 20, 1973. The film was released six days later in Hong Kong.
Kelly started studying martial arts in 1964 in Kentucky and later moved to California.
In the 1980s, Kelly re-trained as a professional tennis coach.
He told the LA Times in a 2010 interview: "I never left the movie business. It's just that after a certain point, I didn't get the type of projects that I wanted to do.
"I still get at least three scripts per year, but most of them don't put forth a positive image.
"There's nothing I really want to do, so I don't do it. If it happens, it happens, but if not, I'm happy with what I've accomplished."
SKY NEWSMercy Johnson back on set, speaks on motherhood + Baby Purity at 6 months Photos)celebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson, who has taken a long break from movie set to get married and have her baby, is now back on set.
As her daughter, Purity Okojie just turned six months old, Mercy is ready to get back to 'action!' as she tweeted from a movie set:
Mercy Johnson back on set
Speaking in a recent interview on motherhood, the actress said: "Motherhood changes women. You begin to see yourself as a co-creator. You begin to see yourself as a protector. Few days ago, I was feeding Purity and she started dragging the bottle with me with the hot water in it. She pushed the bottle, I had to quickly push her away from the water and let it pour on my arm instead. That's the kind of protection I am talking about. I think it will also make you feel more responsible for other children as well. You begin to see them as children of some other mothers. You have a sense of responsibility to want to protect them as well."Must Read!!! Three New Money Saving Trickscelebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | Money-saving tips and tricks are a dime a dozen these days. At this point, most of us know that to save money, we should do things like bringing our lunch to work; make a budget and clip coupons. And many of us probably already do these things — and still can't seem to save enough.
That's why we decided to dig into the research journals to uncover proven, little-known ways that consumers can save money. Here are three.
Consolidate your bank accounts For years, the conventional wisdom was that spreading money across various bank accounts encourages consumers to save. But new research by Promothesh Chatterjee, an assistant professor in the School of Business at the University of Kansas, turns that on its head. "We find that individuals are more likely to save if they have only one primary account, rather than many accounts," Chatterjee said in a statement. "Basically, people look for an excuse to spend, and vague information facilitates this — and having multiple accounts provides just enough vagueness to do the trick."
Avoid the colour red in certain shopping situations The colour red can trigger consumers to spend more money than they otherwise would have, according to a study published in the Journal of Consumer Research in 2012. The study looked at eBay auctions and compared how consumers responded to products listed with a red background versus a blue background. They found that the colour red induces aggression and thus increases bids in an auction. "Our results suggest that incidental exposure to colour on webpage backgrounds or on walls in brick-and-mortar stores can affect willingness-to-pay," the authors write. "In situations where consumers compete with each other to buy a scarce or a limited edition product, firms may increase consumers' willingness-to-pay by exposure to red versus blue backgrounds."
Picture yourself old
Want to save a ton of money for retirement? The secret may be to picture yourself as an old person (gray hair, wrinkles and all), according to a study published in the Journal of Marketing Research in 2011. The researchers had one group of participants view a photo of themselves as they looked that day and another group view a photo that had been digitally rendered to make them look 70. Then the participants were told to imagine that they had just unexpectedly received $1,000 and to allocate it among four options- buy something nice for someone special, invest in a retirement fund, plan a fun and extravagant occasion, and put it into a checking account. Those who had seen a photo of themselves at age 70 were more than twice as likely as the other group to put the money into the retirement account. You can use this tool from Merrill Lynch to picture yourself old. We suggest you do it when that tax refund cheque comes.OMG!!! Woman discovers that her husband was her FATHERcelebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | An Ohio woman is finally speaking out about the pain she suffered after discovering that the man she married also fathered her.
Valerie Spruill of Doylestown learned of her husband's identity six years after he passed away in 1998 thanks to an uncle who eventually came forward with the truth, the Akron Beacon Journal reported.
She says she is now going public with her past in the hopes that it will inspire those going through a rough time.
"I want this to be more of an inspirational story," the 60-year-old told the newspaper. "If I've come through this, anyone can come through anything through the help of the Lord."
Valerie's mother and father, Percy Spruill, first started seeing each other when he was 15. It remains unclear how many children they had together, though Valerie says she is aware of six brothers.
Valerie's grandmother began taking care of her when she was 3-months-old, but it wasn't until age 9 that Valerie discovered the first of many secrets her family had kept from her.
She learned that the man she believed was her father was actually her grandfather. She also realized that a woman who said she was a family friend actually was her mother.
The story "needs to be told, because children need to know where they come from," she said. "And I know it hurts, because I have been devastated by this."
Her mother, Christine, was a "night lady" before she died in 1984, Valerie said.
Christine testified in the infamous 1980s corruption trial of Summit County Probate Judge James Barbuto, who was later convicted of sèx charges.
In 2004, Valerie confirmed that her late husband was her father with the help of a DNA test.
Valerie said she can't say for certain whether Percy was aware of the extent of their relationship, though she believes he did know and was simply too afraid to tell her.
She is still seeing a therapist to come to terms with the difficult revelation.
She has also sought medical treatment for a series of serious medical problems that she believes stem from the stress she endured in the years after the discovery.
Valerie says she hopes her decision to go public will help her find more siblings.
"My biggest goal is to find them and let 'em know that [their mother] loved them, no matter what," she said. "And [to say], 'Thank God she gave you away like she did me, so you could have a beautiful life.'"37 Year Old Woman No Longer Going To Prison After Sleeping With 16 Year Old Boycelebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | A female teacher at "Horndog High" admitted Thursday to bedding a 16-year-old boy at the school but will get no jail time.
She will, however, have to surrender her teaching license.
In a plea-bargain agreement, Erin Sayar, 37, will serve 10 years' probation for having sex with Kevin Eng, whom she tutored at Brooklyn's James Madison High School. The sèx occurred in classrooms and Sayar's car.
"The complainant and his family are amenable to the offer," Assistant District Attorney Serena Horowitz said in Brooklyn Supreme Court. "They stated to me that they don't want to see the defendant spend time in jail."
The tattooed teacher carried on the tryst with Eng in December 2011 and was exposed when his girlfriend snooped in his Facebook account and found he wrote to Sayar, "I love you so much."
A special commissioner for investigations for the Education Department revealed that the teacher and the boy exchanged nearly 4,000 text messages.
Sayar, of Park Slope, who divorced her lawyer husband this year, pleaded guilty to third-degree rápe, or statutory rápe, acknowledging she had sèxwith Eng when he was weeks shy of his 17th birthday, which is the legal age of consent.
"The defendant's health" was part of the consideration when making the plea offer, Horowitz said. Erin Sayar and her husband, Jimmy Lathrop, divorced this year. Erin Sayar and her husband, Jimmy Lathrop, divorced this year.
Sayar is seriously ill and suffering from Lymphoma, a source told the News.
The student's family had filed a $10 million lawsuit against the city and the Education Department.
Family lawyer Bruce Baron thanked prosecutors "for securing swift justice against Sayar, for her unlawful acts."
"We now look forward to aggressively pursuing all defendants responsible in the civil matter," he added.
The Midwood school acquired its randy nickname in 2009, when two female teachers were caught by a janitor in an undressed embrace. Another teacher was investigated later that year for having an affair with a male student, but it was closed because he was of legal age.
Sayar is the only teacher from the school to face criminal charges.
Her sèx offender status will be determined at her Aug. 1 sentencing.
Sayar left the court without making a comment but cracked a relieved smile to her lawyer as
they waited for the elevator.Police Attack Man Who Beat Up Mother Mercilessly In Front Of Her Daughtercelebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | Police have arrested a suspect in the attack on a young mother — captured by a nanny cam — who was beaten in front of her 3-year-old daughter at their home in an upscale New Jersey community.
Shawn Custis, 42, was arrested in upper Manhattan by New York and New Jersey FBI agents Friday afternoon, shortly after he was publicly identified as a suspect, a law enforcement official said.
Custis, who has a long criminal history of burglaries, was located in the lobby of a building on 10th Avenue in Inwood, where his girlfriend lives, the official said.
He said nothing to reporters as FBI agents led him to the Essex County courthouse to be arraigned.
Authorities say the woman and her daughter were watching cartoons on their couch in Millburn, N.J. last Friday morning, a baby boy asleep upstairs, when the suspect — alleged to be Custis — kicked in the dead-bolted door of their Cypress Street home.
The suspect beat the mother as the little girl watched, punching and kicking the woman at least 16 times before pushing her down the basement stairs, police said.
The assault was captured on a nanny cam. Footage from that camera shows the woman being tossed around and beaten as her daughter (seen as a blur in the video) looks on. The mother stays nearly silent during the end of the attack.
The mother was taken to the hospital to be treated for a concussion and bruises to her face and body. She had several chipped teeth and received stitches near her mouth, police said. Her husband was at work in New York City at the time of the attack.
Authorities say Custis may have chosen the Cypress Street home because he believed it was empty; the shades were drawn and no car was in the driveway.
Neighbors celebrated the news of Custis' arrest Friday.
"This whole block, you could just hear a collective sigh of relief when the news started breaking that they got this guy," said Nick Romano. Homeowners in the normally peaceful neighborhood have been on edge since the assault; on Friday, they were seen passing around fliers to start a neighborhood watch group. It read, "The time is now that we need to look out for each other."Man arrested for having with teddy bear in publiccelebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | Some people have weird fetishes. Most people keep their bizarre attraction to themselves.
One man however publicly showed his love for his teddy bear.
Charles Marshall, a 28-year-old man from Cincinnati, Ohio, was arrested after he was allegedly caught having sèx with a teddy bear in a public place more than one time.
This is the fourth time that Marshall has been arrested for the same charge. A worker at the Elm Street Health Clinic spotted him masturbating with a teddy bear in an alley and called police. When officers arrived, he was still masturbating with the bear, according to Cincinnati police.
Officers said that this is the fourth time Marshall had been arrested for similar charges. The first time, he was ordered to pay a fine and he was ordered to stay away from all public libraries in
Hamilton County, Ohio, after he was seen masturbating with a stuffed animal in a public restroom. He was arrested again two more times after witnesses called police to report a man publicly masturbating with a stuffed animal.
Once again Marshall was arrested and charged with engaging in public indecency and disorderly conduct. Hopefully this time the judge will order him to have a psychiatric evaluation.Man arrested after causing two animals to fightcelebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | A man was arrested and charged with felonies for causing two animals to fight, according to reports.
A 22-year-old Oconto County man is charged with two felony counts of instigating a fight between his dog and a raccoon.
"It's the worst I've seen in terms of abuse of animals in 35 years of being a lawyer," John Evans, the district attorney of Oconto County said. Evans said that Friday was the first time he had to charge someone for instigating a fight between animals.
It stems from a situation earlier this month when Paul Detert allegedly tried to train his dog to hunt raccoons at his home in the town of Maple Valley. According to a criminal complaint, Detert put the dog in a 55 gallon drum and then put a live raccoon inside.
"It's horrible, is depraved," Evans said. "I cannot even describe what it might have sounded. He said, when asked, that the fight lasted five to ten minutes. So to be there and hear that, despite not being able to see it is unreal." According to the complaint, when Detert opened a barrel the raccoon was killed and the dog bit him on the hand.
"So I decided to get the dog tied up and shoot it in the head with a revolver," Evans said. In the complaint, deputies say they could not see a dog bite on his hand when they questioned Detert. As for the raccoon, Detert allegedly received it from a friend who has a license to catch them.
"People train their dogs with a lot of different animals out there, raccoons, rabbits, bears and lynx. There are legal ways to do it," Joe Paul, a DNR Conservation Warden in Oconto County said. Paul says that most of the year it is legal to train animals like dogs with raccoons.
However, he says that is normally found in nature. Paul says he has never heard of anyone training a dog with another animal in an enclosure.8 People Shot During House Partycelebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | Police are investigating after eight people were shot and injured early this morning at a house party in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn. Police say four men and four women were shot at a barbecue on Clarendon Road and East 52nd Street just before 1 a.m. Investigators say the shooter crashed the party, opened fire and ran off.
"Of course I was scared, I ran in my house. I saw the helicopter, I said 'I'm going to follow the helicopter and I saw the police go 'Wooo' coming up. I don't know," said one onlooker. A teenage girl originally listed in critical condition has been upgraded to stable at Brookdale Hospital. The other seven victims were taken to Kings County Hospital, and their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.11 burnt to death in Ibadan auto crashcelebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | About 11 people were burnt to death yesterday in an accident which occurred at the Macmillan area, a few metres before Soka bus stop on Ibadan -- Lagos Expressway.

It was also gathered that most of the occupants were dressed in a uniform Ankara for the occasion.
A source said the propeller of the bus pulled out and hit the fuel tank, catching fire in the process.
In an attempt to save the situation, the driver veered off the road to hit a heap of sand by the roadside.
Immediately the bus stopped, the driver and the two passengers in the front seat escaped but others were not lucky as the door of the bus could not be open.
It was learnt that the 11 people who died in the accident included eight adults and three children.

"However, I can confirm to you that the bus was badly loaded and from the report of the victims -- 13 were injured while 11 were burnt to death. The driver is among the four male victims taken to the Adeoyo Hospital while nine others, seven adults and two children, were taken to UCH."

According to the report, around 20 students aged between 12 and 16 started acting strangely—screaming, crying, fainting and convulsing—prompting claims that they were possessed by evil spirits.
A Grade 8 teacher at the public school, Julie Esparagoza, said the incident started shortly after 9 a.m. and initially involved two girls from her section.
Esparagoza said that she and her students were in a classroom when one of the girls suddenly stood up and began acting strangely while the other lost consciousness.
The teacher added that the girl who stood up had to be restrained at one point since it looked like she was going to attack her unconscious classmate.
The woman immediately brought the two girls to separate classrooms where their behavior gradually returned to normal.
Esparagoza, however, said she later observed the same behavior among her other students who had stepped out of the classroom for their break. According to her, she saw five girls and a boy "lying on the floor and shaking while others were crying frantically."
A male student who refused to be named said he saw one girl "convulsing" on the ground near the stage in the middle of the playground while another was "in tears." "I helped bring them to the principal's office," he said.
They were not the only students who were affected. Esparagoza said the same behavior was observed in other Grade 8 students from five different sections. She added that she tried looking for a priest to help the affected students but the staff of two churches she called up told her that the priest was not available.
A pastor from the nearby Born-Again Jesus First Christian Ministries said he rushed to the school when he learned of the incident from a church member.
"The students were shouting: 'I don't want to! I don't want to!', 'Princess!'" Pastor Boyet Sion said. But no one knew who Princess was. He said he prayed for the students and they calmed down a few minutes later.
According to Editha Septimo, the officer in charge of the high school section, some of the affected students were taken to the principal's office while the others were brought to a classroom where a doctor attended to them.
Septimo said she had no choice but to suspend classes in the Grade 8 level at 10 a.m. after parents started rushing to the school to get their children out of fear that they would also be "possessed." "The parents were very frantic, some were hurling insults at us," she added.
However, as soon as the unaffected Grade 8 students were allowed to go home, at least four Grade 7 students began exhibiting the same behavior, Esparagoza said. This prompted Nerissa Lozaria, assistant schools division superintendent, to suspend classes in the entire school.
Several of the "possessed" students were allowed to go home after they calmed down while the others were taken to a nearby church where they were blessed, Esparagoza said.
A worker at the church who refused to be named said around 10 students were brought there for exorcism but they later left, some of them to attend Mass at Quiapo Church.
Those who witnessed the incident, meanwhile, were divided about what happened. Septimo was skeptical and called the incident a case of "mass hysteria" caused by students who just wanted attention.
She cited one "possessed" student whose behavior immediately returned to normal after she was told she would be injected with something to calm her down. Septimo said that this was the first such incident at the school.
Sion, for his part, said the incident was clearly a case of "evil spirits possessing the students." According to him, he heard reports that some of the affected pupils had earlier conducted a seance (spirit of the glass) at a cemetery near the school.
"They might have invited the spirits to possess them," he said. His theory was supported by a church worker who said that two children were taken to the church hours before the incident at the school.
The complaint of those who brought the two children in: They seemed to be possessed by evil spirits.
The church worker said that several balete trees were cut down at the school only recently to give way to the construction of a covered court. This may have angered some spirits, the worker added.
After calming down, four of the students told the teachers that they saw images of a mother and a child. They also saw an image of a man in black clothes.
Due to the confusion school officials also decided to suspend classes for the whole day.
Source: News24Fleeing robbers kill 10 travellerscelebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | Hell was let loose in the early hours of yesterday in Akure as some armed robbers invaded Olokuta Medium Prison on Ondo Road Akure in the state capital, freeing about 179 inmates and killing 10 travellers.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the robbers, about 30, and fully armed, gained access into the prison premises around 1am after using an explosive device suspected to be dynamite to break the prison's wall.
The bandits had earlier vandalized the streetlights from the highway to the gate of the prison gate to ensure blackout during the operation.
The development, however, caused pandemonium among the residents with the news that the prison was attacked by members of the dreaded Boko Haram. Some of the inmates, including condemned criminals, those awaiting trials and others that were already serving terms, took advantage of the situation and escaped through the various bush paths.
It was gathered that over 100 armed robbers who have been jailed as well as those on awaiting trial, escaped during the jail- break along with other criminals who were also in the prison's custody. The freeing bandits, it was learnt, were some of the robbers terrorizing the people of the state, arrested and prosecuted by the police and were ordered by the courts to be remanded in the prison's custody
After carrying out the operation in the prisons, and while trying to escape with their colleagues from the scene, the robbers ran into some travellers along Ondo Road whose vehicle had a flat tyre at a point very close to the entrance of the prison. They shot and killed 10 of the passengers instantly, including the driver.
The robbers, after killing the occupants, waited and replaced the flat tyre with the extra before escaping with the mini bus
Speaking with newsmen, the state's Comptroller of Prisons, Mr. Tunde Olayiwola, described the invasion as unusual and alien to the state. He said the prison service will bring the culprits to book.
Olayiwola confirmed that only one prison warder was injured in the attack, adding that the affected officer was receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
"We cannot specifically identify those behind the attack, but the attack is unusual. One of our officers was injured during the attack and he is in the hospital right now receiving treatment, but I am assuring that those behind the attack, will be brought to book."
It was, however, gathered that few inmates have been arrested by security operatives as efforts were on to rearrest the fleeing inmates as security agents were seen as early as 8.30 am yesterday combing many brothels in the state capital.
Meanwhile, the state police command has allayed the fear that the attack was carried out by Boko Haram. A statement by the spokesman, Wole Ogodo, said there was no iota of truth in the rumour that the Islamist sect was responsible.Fear Grips Tonto, Denies Writing Marijuana Tweetcelebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | Fear may have gripped controversial actress, Tonto Charity Dikeh after the NDLEA reportedly threatened to investigate her posts online on Thursday and possibly throw her in jail for at least 5 years for allegedly encouraging or using the banned narcotic.
Apparently worried by the reactions the post and the NDLEA reported investigation created, the actress denied the post and claimed that a fan wrote the post and not her.
Tonto said, "A fan wrote the words with herbs on my birthday, and i replied: 'thank you teampoko'. Now, how does someone else's action become my crime?
"If I said those words ('Mi smoke gaja mi smoke wee while my haters smoke ma gossip'), I will stand by them but I didn't. Just because it is convenient for people to believe the lies still doesn't make it the truth.
"The whole thing is falsified by people who just love to have fun at other's expense. Let's put some thought to some of the things we write. Don't just cut and paste. If you cannot find me holding a wrap of marijuana, then you may want to slow down on your assumptions."

You were at OJB's house to see him and donate money, now you are here to donate to the Boys Reform Home in Lagos. What's the idea? No idea, we are just promoting the ideals of Mercy Johnson Foundation. The idea is to identify the needs, evaluate and help in our own little way. All fingers are not equal; those in position to help should do so without hesitation. You will be hearing a lot about Mercy Johnson Foundation from now on. We have put our house in order and now ready to help those we can.
I strongly believe that as stars we should live beyond the euphoria of stardom and the moment. We will not always be here, what happens if you look back and realise you could do a lot to make the world better when you had the spotlight and you didn't? I want to live beyond the moment.
Why the reform homes in Lagos? I know I'm not glamorous to a lot of people, but we must know that if we do charitable things for publicity alone, we defeat the purpose. We need to find ways to reform young boys and girls otherwise they will make life uncomfortable for the children of the privileged. At this point, I must commend the government of Lagos State for making efforts at reforming the kids. We are looking at what we can do with the state to help make the future of these children better.
Motherhood seems to have changed you... Yes, motherhood changes women. You have a sense of responsibility to want to protect them as well.
How are you coping with your husband and the baby? There's nothing like coping, he's making my job easier. He dots on her. He carries her, feeds and does everything for her such that she misses him when he's not around. You won't believe she sleeps on his chest every night. He understands whatever adjustment I need to make when it comes to the baby. He's a loving father?
What about being a loving husband?
He's the best thing that happened to me. People usually say men are not reliable, in the case of my husband he's a blessing. It's obvious we are his priority.
So, your step of faith is paying off? Yes. I am not saying its perfect, but this is close to perfection. If this is what it feels to be married, I want to marry my husband again and again.
How come you took a break and still returned as number one in Nollywood? There's nothing like number one in Nollywood. We are all doing our jobs; it's just that some people are busier than others. I'm glad of what God has given me.
What should we expect from you career-wise? I'm trying to be more selective with what I do. If the script is not good, I don't want to do it. Our market is getting core aware and advanced as the day goes by.
How come you are not an ambassador of any brand yet? We are having discussion with a couple of brands, when we agree with the terms, you will hear from us. However, I need to quickly point out that Mercy Johnson is a blend of youth and family brand. We just can't stand and represent any brand.
If it's not representing the youths, which is our major consistency or the family, we will not be favourably disposed to it. I can't at this point be 'hawking' cleavages in the name of promoting brand. Things have changed; this is the beginning of a new era for me.Don canvasses review of rápe lawscelebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | A professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Education, University of Ibadan, Prof. Ademola Ajuwon, has called for a review of laws on rápe.
Ajuwon made the call while delivering an inaugural lecture entitled, 'Adolescence: The excitement, complexities and challenges' in Ibadan on Friday.
He said, "The laws regarding rápe should be revised to recognise the fact that both males and females are vulnerable to rápe and séxual violence.
"Although female adolescents are disproportionately affected by séxual coércion, both male and female should be targets of intervention.
"However, boys need skills on how to resolve conflicts through negotiations so that they do not resort to violence and rápe.
"There is a need for a revision of the laws regarding conditions for proving rápe. For example, it is not in every case that there will be an evidence of struggle because rápe takes place under duress in which use of weapons are involved."
Noting that adolescents were more séxually active and adventurous, he called for parental intervention in shaping their attitude.
He also canvassed peer education in preventing rápe, HIV and other related vices.
He said, "Parents should play a proactive role in the reproductive health education for their children. Formal teaching and leading by example are required to reinforce the positive messages that will enable adolescents to counter many of the rumours that they receive from their peers.
"Rápe is not an isolated event but occurs after a series of other séxual coercive events such as verbal insistence and assault."
He recommended the intervention of government agencies in developing policies and rules that would guide against séxual exploitation of employees, apprentices and hawkers among other groups.
This, he said, would reduce the incidence of rápe, physical, psychological and economic exploitation in the society.
PunchI'm Torn Between Two Worlds, My Pastor and Wife...Who Should I Obey?celebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | I'm happily married to a beautiful woman whom I love so much. I work as a personal assistant to the pastor of my church.
I love my job because apart from the fact that I have time for myself and family, it also comes with a huge salary. I also get to travel out to different countries plus the various benefits attached to my job which I receive monthly.
The subject of disagreement here are my nails. I usually keep the nails on the my left hand long and my wife really loves it because she says anytime we get intimate, it tickles her and turns her on. So my nail is like an instrument in our sex life.
On the other hand, my pastor has asked me several times to keep my nails short. He says it is irresponsible for men to keep their nails. He said whenever we go out for meetings, several pastors usually complain about my nails and I should keep it low.
I can't tell him the reason behind me leaving my nails now he has threatened that if I don't trim my nails, I would loose my job.
When I told my wife I wanted to cut my nails, she got so angry saying I do not love her and if I cut my nails she would be very angry with me and starve me of sex.
I love my wife but at the same time I love my job and do not want to loose either of them.
Please advise me, who do I obey?Failure to declare money above $10,000 punishable, says CBNcelebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, weekend, cleared the wrong notion that any person travelling outside or coming into the country cannot carry above $10,000, saying it was a misinterpretation and misapplication of the provision of the Money Laundering (Prohibition ) Act 2011.

Dauda, a fledgling actor, based in Ondo, was accused of attempting to abduct the wife of the traditional ruler of Ilisan Remo in March 2013, with the help of three others- Segun, Nurudeen and an unidentified man.
However, Dauda said he was not aware that he was part of a gang of kidnappers until too late.
He said, "At the time, I was not aware that it was a planned abduction. Segun is a close friend and had borrowed my car. Because the car was without a spare tyre and not in good condition, I offered to drive him wherever he wanted.
"I was under the impression that Segun was in search of a suitable school for his teaching practice as he is a student of a College of Education," Dauda said.
Dauda, Segun and Nurudeen allegedly left Ondo, while a fourth unidentified man was picked up at Ore. Under Segun's direction, Dauda allegedly drove to a secondary school close to the palace of the Oba of Ilisan in Ogun State.
At about 1pm, an elderly lady was said to have driven out of the school compound and headed in the direction of the king's palace.
Dada said, "At the time, I was unaware that she was the king's wife. By the time she came to where we were parked, she stopped because my car was blocking her path. To my shock, Segun and Nurudeen rushed to her vehicle, brandishing guns and pulled her out. Till that moment, I had had no idea that they had guns in their possession."
Their victim was bundled into Dauda's waiting car and driven away. Some residents, however, raised the alarm and alerted the police after witnessing the abduction.
"It seemed Segun had stationed some spies around because while I was driving, he received a call that the police had already begun to give a chase behind us and that the neighbourhod vigilantes had mobilised ahead of us to block our escape.
"Immediately, I heard that, I could no longer drive. I was so scared, I had to drive off the road into the bush and we abandoned my car there with the king's wife in it," Dauda recalled.
Dauda and his friends, allegedly hid in the bush till 7pm until Segun's spies showed up and took them all to an uncompleted building at the Ijebu-Ode end of Sagamu-Benin Expressway. The suspects were said to have hidden there till 6.30am the following day, when a vehicle arrived to convey them back to Ondo state.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, confirming the incident said, "The victim was rescued from the car unhurt although some pepper had been sprayed into her eyes to prevent her from identifying where she was to be held captive.
"All the suspects escaped from the scene. In their haste, a sim card belonging to Dauda was left in the car.
"Dauda was tracked to his home in Ondo State but he had gone into hiding in his hometown, Iwo. It wasn't until May 19 that Dauda returned home and he was promptly arrested by the Fagun Police Division and later transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Department, Abeokuta. Investigation is on to apprehend the other fleeing suspects."Patience Jonathan's excesses must be curbedcelebritytalkonline2013-07-01 | EACH time the wife of the President, Patience Jonathan, hits the road with her long motorcade, including bulletproof and bombproof limousines, or is having a whale of a time at an event, drivers and commuters who find themselves on her routes always have to live with the bitter experience of the encounter. The deceased's 77-year-old husband, Joseph Toby-Lade told PUNCH Metro that he had yet to get over the shock because he witnessed the incident.

He said, "My wife sold drinks in our compound and her shop is located at the entrance. She was looking after our grandson and the son of one of our neighbours while I was at the balcony. There was heavy traffic on the street and because the main gate was open, the driver of a Toyota Land cruiser with plate number EPE960AC, drove in to a make a U-turn.
"Probably the driver put the gear in drive instead of reverse because immediately he accelerated, he rammed into my wife and she hit her head against the wall. The vehicle continued to move and it hit my grandson, Evans Toby-Lade, and a resident's son, Usman, before ramming into one of the pillars of my house.
"I quickly rushed downstairs and we took them to Holy Trinity Hospital which is opposite my house. The kids were treated for head injuries, but the doctors told me that my wife was in critical condition, so she was referred to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja."
Joseph, who was an engineer with Daily Times and Nigeria Printing and Minting Company, told PUNCH Metrothat he took his wife to LASUTH immediately.
He said, "My wife was not breathing properly when we got to LASUTH. I asked the nurses to put her on oxygen but they said they did not have oxygen. I told them I was willing to buy and they said Holy Trinity Hospital should have provided the oxygen.
"Around 6pm, on May 21, 2013, my wife died."
