I lost my dad but not my purpose Robert Zinke 2023-07-13 | On April 20th my dad died at just 60 years old..It still feels surreal and life will probably never feel the same.Last year in April we moved to Mallorca where my mum & dad were supposed to enjoy their retirement and life together.We went from living our dream to complete despair and hopelessness real quickly.It was absolute heaven.But there is no light without darkness.And let me tell you... It feels pretty fucking dark to lose your dad.Oh yeah, and I almost keep forgetting too... Frodo my dog and little brother (yes call me weird I don't have siblings lol) died just 10 days before.They both were diagnosed with the same heart condition last year.Now it's just my mum & myself left in the family but life must go on and I will never give up.It fucking hurts.But I won't allow the pain to break me and I'm now committed more than ever.I had the PERFECT life and parents and for sure would not be who and where I am without their sheer endless love & support.My dad was love impersonated.I got to do and try everything when I was a kid.He was the one who got me into video editing, and bought me Call of Duty when I was 14 which got me into YouTube and later making money from my passion.He drove me to film school on his way to work and no matter what I ever needed help with I knew I could always count on him.He was a full-time dad with endless love for his small family.Without him, I would 100% not be doing what I am doing and writing this post right now.I will continue to share his love with the world through my work.Everybody should have the option to make a living with what they love and I believe that every human has infinite creative potential that is just waiting to get unlocked.Most people simply never had the freedom to uncover and express their true self.They get forced into a job they hate just to pay the bills and get stuck in a viscous cycle wasting their time, life, and potential.And let me tell you the biggest learning I got out of this trauma so far...You will NEVER EVER get your time back.Not even a single minute.I will NEVER get to speak to my dad again.All the decisions I made so far lead me to exactly where I am.No decision to take more coaching calls instead of spending time with him can be ever reversed.And don't get me wrong... I love work and helping people.But TIME is the most precious asset there is.Fuck money.Money does not exist. It's a piece of paper or a number on the screen. You can always get more money but you will never EVER get your time back.Time for yourself, your loved ones, your passion, and your LIFE.Money is worth fuck all if you have no one to share your time with.We always had this quote in our kitchen and I even designed a poster version of it with the Mallorca island outline in the background:"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans"I can tell you...
