Subtitles are provided by the courtesy of Adam Mahmud.
Video Description:
This video explains about the different types of acne scars and how to treat them effectively. There are two types of scars which are:
1. Post Inflammatory Erythema (PIE) - usually affect people with fair and bright skin tones. 2. Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH) - affect people with dark skin tones.
----------------------------------- What can cause PIE:
1. Picking our pimples 2. Frequent exposure of our skin to the Sun 3. Using harsh chemical exfoliants and more…
What can you do to treat PIE?
The best way is by using laser treatment but since it is so expensive, I’ll list down the inexpensive ways of doing it which are :
1. Use Vitamin C:
Vitamin C has been approved by a lot of skin care websites to treat PIE. However, there are a lot of types of Vitamin C. The gold standard of Vitamin C is the LAA which is L-Ascorbic Acid. Ascorbic acid is very potent so it is only advisable for people who already have a solid skin care routine.
Having a solid skin care routine means that you no longer break out when you use cleanser - moisturiser - sunscreen.
My product recommendations for Vitamin C are: 1. Cosrx Triple C Lightning Serum, 2. Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C 3. Tiam C-Source
2. Use Vitamin C Derivatives:
They are less potent than ascorbic acid hence they are more gentle to our skin. They still offer the same benefits as ascorbic acid in which they act as brightening ingredient and stimulate collagen production.
Product recommendations: 1. The Ordinary products 2. Hada Labo Whitening Essence ----------------------------------------- What causes PIH? -Excessive production of melanin
What can you do to treat PIH?
Find ingredients as follows:
1. Vitamin C as well because it is a brightening ingredient.
2. Arbutin as it inhibits melanin production Product recommendations: 1. The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2. Hada Labo Whitening Essence
3. Vitamin B3 Niacinamide as it slows down the transfer of melanin production to cells Product recommendations: 1. The Ordinary Niacinamide + Zinc 2. Lost and Found(LaF) Whitening Ampoule
4. Alpha Hydroxy Acid as it is a type of exfoliant and exfoliates your dead skin cells. Product recommendations: 1. Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water 2. The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% 3. The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% 4. Pixi Glow Tonic 5% Glycolic Acid 5. Cosrx AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid 6. The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7%
Always start with lower percentage so that you can build up your skin tolerance towards these beneficial acids.
Always protect your skin with sunscreen when you go out under the Sun. It is no use if we use all the suggested ingredients but we keep exposing our skin to sunlight. ------------------------------ DISCLAIMER : I don’t have any professional qualification when it comes to skincare.
