If you try to run emerge after a GCC update and get the above error, this may help you. In my case, creating a simple C program to print Hello World to the screen, and attempting to compile it, pointed me in the proper direction that the GCC profile was bad.
Use "gcc-config -l" to view your profiles, and "gcc-config (number)" to set your profile. Then it is advisable to run ". /etc/profile". Try to recompile a simple C program to verify the fix.

In this video I do my best to explain what I did to make Bumblebee work in a hybrid mode with my Intel and Nvidia GTX 1650 GPU. None the less, I think it would help you if you are trying to get hybrid graphics to function in Gentoo or Calculate Linux.Gentoo Tidbits - The Power of One (--oneshot or -1)DasGregor2020-01-18 | Gentoo Tidbits - The Power of One (--oneshot or -1)

Very useful when testing or rebuilding a package.Gentoo Tidbits - Gentoo Has a Kernel BinaryDasGregor2020-01-03 | Today I want to discuss something exciting. Gentoo has a portage package that installs the kernel as a binary. It's not marked stable, and I suggest you build this in a VM to try before testing it on your main box. However, if you do want to try it, make sure to add the following to your package.accept_keywords file:
I'd always say when doing this to backup your /boot directory. I did this, but everything worked for me, so this was not an issue. However, it would be good to have this for safety.
After installing, I ran this to rebuild the grub.cfg:
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
This is not a tutorial to install it, but more a discussion about source vs binary from a Gentoo user's perspective.
I've been trying to learn Docker images and Containers. The last few weeks I've built a few containers to use. I found a way to make a fully functioning Gentoo Docker Container, and I've built a little streaming OTR server. I've uploaded them to the Docker Hub, but remember they are a work in progress.
I also had strange issues with mysql containers in a VM, but for some reason they started working for me. So I don't know what happened there.
NOTE!!! After restarting the server and trying again, it's back to failing. I used the same commands and everything.
1. Modules that did not get pulled in 2. Hardware that failed to function after a warm boot 3. Hardware that needed reconfigured after a cold boot

dasgregor@gentooenvy ~ $ uname -r 4.19.72-gentoo
Today, I wanted to repair an issue with virtualbox modules getting an error when they were loaded "exec format error'. Time to upgrade the kernel. Reinstalling modules and rebooting did no good. This did fix everything after I rebuilt the kernel, and the kernel needed upgraded anyway.
It has been a long time since I upgraded the kernel, and Virtualbox is broken. This video walks you through the simple steps to get your kernel simply upgraded without too much fuss.
When '--changed-deps' was used with emerge, it caused 474 packages to get updated, but in the end all conflicts had been resolved. Just a short video about how VLC recently would not compile until libebml was recompiled. This was caused by one of the huge GCC updates when all applications needed to be recompiled against the new version of GCC.
I was able to install, setup, and get FreeBSD running with most everything I ever wanted. However, it's the little things that bug me. Unstable mouse and tapping sensitivity issues, USB sound switching, Network shares mounting without password, Xorg Crashes. I Overcame most all of them. I still have a lot to learn.
BSD is better than the Das! I just need to learn it. So I plan on trying another flavor to see if I configured or set things up incorrectly.

Watch to find out that before installing LFS, first decide if you need 32 bit/64 bit multilib support. It all worked perfect!!
I recently found out that 4.12.12 was masked for removal. I decided to take this opportunity to downgrade to the latest stable 4.9.72 kernel and document a kernel update/downgrade. I hope this helps others when they need to update their Gentoo kernel.
I understand that 4.14 will be the new LTS version of the kernel in Gentoo going forward. However, until they make it stable on the packages.gentoo.org, I will stay on 4.9.72. Another video when that happens.
I started out to talk about the kernel. That will have to wait for another day. There were a lot of package updates, and I had a lot to say about updating your world. A refresher you might say.
