Hydraulic regeneration on a log splitter. Doug Wood Chuck 2017-07-12 | Added regeneration to my log splitter and increased the speed of the push stroke. Cut 5 seconds off of extend stroke. Using a sequence valve and two check valves with lots of hydraulic hose. The speed will slow once a desired pressure is achieved and then full power will be applied once the sequence valve is activated. The sequence valve is adjustable from 300 to 1500 psi. Now the single stage hydraulic pump will act as a two stage log splitter pump but with higher flows to the cylinder than a standard log splitter pump. Motor is a 34 hp Kubota Diesel. Bore of cylinder is 4.5 inches and shaft is 3.5 inches with 30 inch stroke. Pump is Permco dual pump rated at 19 gpm each at 3000 rpm. Only one of the pumps is used for the splitter ram. Other pump is used for log lift winch, 4 way wedge, boom lift, jack, and power steering.
